would strong alchohol include beer and such?

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

Beer, not normally; but dwarven beer is very high potency at 18-20%, so qualifies; wine (12-16%) is the minimium you would need for this acid

After I have washed the acid off of me ( whenever the DM says I am done) I will search the debris, bones and room to see what I can find.

Search check: 16 (1d20) + 9 (Skill Mod) = 25

Takes a few minutes leaving you bit cold and damp. In the room you find 5 ornate gold rings; 3 wrought silver rings; 1 colorful, but twisted stone ring; 4 magic rocks with symbols in them; 32 imperial bars (worth 5 gp each); 2 vile looking masterwork staves and 1 belt that looks in masterwork condition. All the other stuff is damaged by acid, rusted and generally garbage.

This takes about 10 minutes for anyone who need to know that for the blessing effect.

Val: define twisted stone ring? as in bent or like vines?

Twisted; like you took a long square rod, like a cylindar but not round; square, and twisted it in a uniform way; but tiny and in a ring with no noticable beginning or end. Sorta like if you put a bunch of springs together and bent them into a ring.

Two of the gold rings are magic; the three silver rings are magic and work in a set; means you have to wear all three for them to work (takes one ring slot game mechanics).

One of the gold rings you think has something to do with fire; protection being most likely. The other gold ring you think is some type of spell storage; with more scrutiny you decide its arcane.

One of the staves is pure evil, twisted and black; the touch of it is spongy and just barely more than semisolid; death magic; destroys souls; uses them to fuel divine spells inside the staff; do you keep exploring to find out more?

The other staff is like a petrified spinal column of something with a larger spine than a man; probably and ophidian; it too has much necromantic energy; mostly summon type; gives charisma and wisdom bonus you think as well as healing and some blood derived powers.

The belt you think has Str Bonus; that is all

There is only one; Assuming you sneak down it a little ways, as rogues tend to; it is narrow and not well used; it in a natural tunnel, dug out; no brickwork or supports; circular, like for a snake; and goes about 30" to a small central cavern; where you see several other tunnels. There are no lights; as you get closer to the central cavern; there is an intense snake pit smell.

"OK, these rings," holding up the two gold and three silver rings, "have a magical aura. I can't be sure, but this ring appears to have a dweomer to protect one from fire while this one appears to be able to store a mage's spells. I do not know what the three silver rings do, but they are obviously a set - you have to wear them all to get whatever effect they impart.

Pointing to the black staff, "That -- that is evil in and of itself, even without an evil user to carry it. It's soft to the touch, perhaps made of shadowstuff. I'm pretty sure it is divine in nature and deals out the magic of death and souls. I'm not sure I want to investigate it further...

"The other staff also appears to be divine, but I think it's focus is conjuration of creatures. It appears to grant a bonus to the wielder's mental abilities and would perhaps be a boon to a cleric. It doesn't seem to be evil, other than its construction.

"It seems that the belt grants the user greater strength.

"I'm not sure what the magic rocks do. Perhaps Kemnebi will recognize the symbols on their surface?"

Did she fail her checks for the silver rings and the magic stones? If so, she will take all of those items to Kemnebi for further analysis.

Male Efreeti, advanced manthing 45HD

You have to more or less hold; wear or use the item to identify what it is and does; just forgot about the rings; you think armor like a deflection bonus but a bit wider than that; but definately protective; but obviously not against trapper acid.

The stones: how would you use them to figure out what they do; they look like shooter marbles. Just holding them does nothing so their energy is dormant.

"The silver rings, in combination, provide some sort of protection, but I'm not certain what kind. Obviously not acid, considering where it was found.

"The twisted ring does not appear to be magical. Perhaps its significance is more mundane - some method of identifying the wearer, maybe?"

Kemnebi looks around, seeming a little lost, (especially compared to how he seemed during the battle). He goes over to Aahz, and after making sure he didn't miss any spots of acid that still need to be washed off, tries to help the surprisingly heavy lad stand up.

"Come on Aahz, you can do it! Just a littel farther!" He whispers encouragingly.

I go and gather all the items that were being identified (the rings (5 ornate gold rings; 3 wrought silver rings; 1 colorful, but twisted stone ring), the 2 vile looking masterwork staves, the 1 belt) and the 4 stones with arcane runes.

The evil Staff I wrap in a blanket and tie to my backpack.

The petrified spinal column Staff I hand to Nebit and tell her in the mind Link: "it is devine in nature - Learn to use it Quickly."

I give the 4 stones, with arcane runes, to Llevonic and say in the mind Link "Keep 2 and give the other 2 to Caerwyn when he returns. use them when needed they may help."

The twisted ring I put in my pouch at my belt until we find a lock for it.

The belt I hand to the sisters and tell them in the mind link: "Put this on Astinious it should give him greater strength, too bad it does not bestow wisdom."

The Gold ring that is thought to be of Spell Storing I hand to Fox and say in the mind link: "See if any spells are within the ring that may help us. It should be Arcane in nature."

The Gold ring that is thought to be Fire profection I hand to Kemnebi and say in the mind link: "Put this on Aahz it may keep him from harm if we are attacked by fire."

The 3 silver rings I also hand to Kemnebi and in the mind link say: "use these at your descretion We do not know what they do."

In the mind link: "Hold these items only until after the battle and later we will distribute them in a more efficient manner within the party as a whole. Prepare to move out we leave when Caerwyn returns."

I collect my flaggon from Nebbit, Put on my gear and backpack and prepare to move out.

As promised:
Narrative Interlude, a cold wind blows and an apparition of a northman in aborignal gear appears and bend the winds, it starts to snow in the chamber, He speaks in High Chant and all understand:

"And thus do Dragons lay in the hearts of men. To know a Dragon is to know fear, power, greed and terror and vast magic. Yes; magic: the art of elves, sorcerers and wizards. Magic is the source of a Dragons power. Magic is the life that beats in its heart and hardens it scales; but not many know that it is the Runes of the dwarves that gave it life; long life. And with it; greed for shining things; for golden creations and platinum bobbles and works of artisans. How can this be you say, how can this not be I say for there were not always dragons much as there was not always men. But there were Snakes, terrible and hideous, vile and wicked in their unholy rites. And there were elves, but not always here and yet they came; for whence is another story, but came they did and looked upon the Land and saw its beauty. The high waterfalls and the clear running streams; the wide grasslands and the forests of majestic trees. Ah trees; say it with me now "ah, trees" to an elf this is no mystery; for trees tap deep into the earth and live for centuries as man does for days. Some say the elves came to hear the trees; to listen to their stories. A million million stories in a land of vast forests. The elves ranged wide running through the forests and glades; from the mountain peaks to the grasslands. And they were watched, studied, evaluated and finally....attacked. War, bloody war filled the land; blood seeped into the earth; into the water, into the plants. Blood and Rage. For a thousand years blood rained from sky; burrowed in the earth, turned to vapor in the air. For the war raged hot and magics you cannot imagine were cast upon the world. Powerful magic mixed with the air; mixed with the water, mixed with the earth; thus came the Dust.

So it came to be that the leader of the elves sat in council; the snakes were to many; the snakes were to powerful; the snakes were to sly, to wicked, to cunning, to full of darkness in the dark places of the earth. Thus they spake Uller, he who was with them but not of them, who had come with them from the other place. Uller, speak for us to those of the earth, bring them to war upon the evil of the snakes. Tell them that the snakes seek the Six Seals of The Prison to release the Abomination of the Desolation of the Old Ones upon us all. Thus Uller spake to the He Who Is The Soulforger who wrought a people out of the blood of the earth; the blood of the water, breathed into them the blood of the air. And to each of them He gave a golden heart and a True Purpose.

Thus; after a thousand years the Alliance of Elf and Dwarf destroyed the snakes; broke their power; and thus the snakes fled and were pursued, thus only the strongest; the fastest; and the most cunning of snakes survived; hid, slept; and for eons did muliply and lay in wait.

And...the Alliance. Now, Elves have Hearts of Fire and are Wild and Free. The Dwarves have Golden Hearts and True Purpose and like oil and water; these dont mix well. Elven Magic and Dwarven Runes and again; there was war. War between those who were once best of friends; war between those who know your strength; know your weaknesses; know your Loves...and hearts were broken, trusts were smashed and bitterness grew. And the snakes watched and plotted."

A cold wind blows the the figment of the man blows away.

Marching order please.
Aahz moans "But what about the dragons; he didnt tell us about the dragons" then he falls back into a deep sleep.

Fox slips the ring onto her finger as instructed and concentrates on it trying to determine what it might hold.

Kemnebi slips the ring of fire protection on Aahz and pats the boys shoulder gently.

"Next time. He'll tell you about the dragons next time." he whispers softly.

'Who, or what, was THAT??!?'

Spoiler:

the ring contains:
fireball
Cone of Cold
empty space
(you get the feeling it can hold a bit more power; maybe 10 or 12 spell levels all together)
