Records indicate it was seized from one of his lieutenants in the clean-up after the tyrant's defeat.
The area is very sparsely inhabited.
There is much on the shudderwood and little of it good. read Here for a bit more
quoting this old post about the location you were heading to when several things, including the necromancer's keep side tracked you.

Sounds good to me. Though we have to be aware that they will be expecting a visit this time. We may also want to consider the wisdom of trying to burn down a certain tree, assuming it hasn't been done already.
Bendalis |
Hailey, bendalis's starting book was
L1: Burning Hands, Enlarge Person, Feather Fall, Floating Disk, Grease, Prot: Evil, Silent Image

I should have been more clear in my post. Hailey admitting that she loves something that isn't magic-related is a very difficult and emotionally severe thing for her. By telling you guys that, she is more like making a confession to a higher priest of Nethys than any of you may realize.
Imagine her saying she loves Alice nervously, covering her face or her mouth or something.

Hailey copying Bendalis' spellbook will cost 40 gold more than Hailey has. Should I just pick three spells (which is what Hailey can afford on her own) or will the party cover the 40 gold and then take it out of Hailey's share of anything we find later?
Basically I've looked it up and it costs 10 gold for first level spells. She can afford three on her own, but Bendalis has seven. That is the problem.
So will someone lend Hailey the remaining gold, or should she just wait? Either way is fine. In any case, she's using her own gold to add Burning Hands, Enlarge Person, and Protection vs. Evil.

Flandrion, dont worry about that. It can come out of the coffers. Hailey barely used any of her share from earlier. Browman, can you deduct the right amount of gold from the totals on the gameplay tab please? :-) Its there to support all of us.. not just us meat heads that like shiny new weapons!!

Trying to sort out my confusion here as opposed to clogging up the game play thread with it.
So the Baron of Kotla and the Baron we are working for are two different barons with two different demesnes. But the crimes that we know the necromancer committed took place in the Kotla demesne. Which arguably means that:
1: The Baron of Kotla should have been the one to try, sentence and execute the necromancer.
2. Unless the laws of Ustalav are incredibly fluid about such things, our Baron wouldn't have been legally able to deal with the necromancer because his crimes (at least the ones we know of) were not committed in our Baron's demesne.
3. Also, given that the Baron of Kotla lived in the village, and everybody in the village is gone, then the Baron of Kotla is gone too. So it's not just a matter of rounding up some villagers, we also arguably should find the Baron of Kotla as he is the legitimate authority for the demesne we are currently in. Without the Baron, there technically is no more legitimate authority in this area, unless and until whatever noble the Baron owes fealty to either takes the demesne over himself or appoints another baron.

The authorities of Kotla said they didn't want to deal with that problem.
Also most of the crimes the necromancer committed where on the other side of the tree portal, you have no idea exactly where that is, it might not even be part of Golarion. As such you have no idea who is technically responsible for any crimes committed there.

Ok. Both the character and the player being somewhat chaotic, and the muderous evil villain apparently getting what he deserved, all is well on that score. Still leaves us with a whole bunch of missing people to decide what to do about.

Well, we can head northeast over to Hyannis, and then north by northwest up that road to where we need to be. It will be a very long journey, but there appear to be plenty of towns along the way. We also may be able to hire a boat to take us up the river from Kavapesta. I dont know if the red lines are roads or not though.. the mountains without a road would be a very bad thing. Our other choice looks like heading over to the west to Eran's Rest and north from there.

The red lines are province borders, a road to Hyannis would be there.

We also might want to consider pushing it a little. Traveling for 9 hours a day instead of 8 hours a day. For overland travel that should give us a little more distance covered without wearing ourselves out too badly.

My daughter is in the hospital. Posting will be scant for two weeks.

I'm also wishing you best of luck.
I've been incapable of posting over the last weekend. I'm caught up on what happened. Let's just say that Swift and Bendalis stayed behind since everyone else went on ahead.

Impromptu over night camping trip in the morning. I will try to post before we leave but will not be back on until Thursday evening

As interesting as Dragonkin sound.. I will have to decline for now. I just have way too much on my plate. However, should a spot open up later, keep me in mind because I think I would have some real fun with that!

Since most of the party left without Bendalis and I, I give the gameplay section a quick read every day. Just to make sure I'm on the same page as everyone, you all haven't returned to our location, correct?
Swift-Palm |
That's right. We've gone to investigate an animal attack, and so far haven't found anything of importance. Of course, that doesn't mean there isn't . . .
Alright. This kinda comes at a good time, I've been extremely busy lately. I'm glad that it doesn't affect the game.

Sorry, everyone, but I'm having laptop problems again. I'm not quitting the game - it's just that I'll have to check at the library so I'll probably be able to post only every few days until it's fixed.
Still, as I said, I'm not quitting the game. But I am letting you guys know.
