"Goblin no food!" The one of the orcs responds when Yraalik suggests that the goblin can have his share. They eye the kobold suspiciously as he eats his rations.

Strangely the goblin almost looks relieved when he is disallowed food.

Grigg wilts as the beast backs away from him.
"a healer's hand can only heal so much I suppose"
He sighs and joins the rest of the party around the fire, partaking of whatever food the orcs are eating.as he settles down, he takes a look around the camp, beyond the chief and their supposed champion.looking for someone who might be a beast trainer of sorts, or a medicine man.
perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

All orcs look the same to Grigg!

Grigg looks for any sort of animal around the camp.
perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

Male

The Orcs have no pets or mounts.

Are you walking around looking or just sitting where you are looking about. Are you going into ajoining caves, or staying within the camp?

male HP: 33/33 | AC: 15/13/12| Fort: +7 | Ref: +5 | Will: +8 | Init: +3 | Perc: +3 | CMB: +3 | CMD: 16|Shorsword: +4;1d4+1| hidden preist 4

"strange.they claim to be nomads, but don't seem to have pack animals for transport.perhaps their might allows for easy travel."
Grigg wanders away from the rest of the party, letting the stronger fighters handle the matter of challenge. Surely kax or ipreek could easily bring down the champion.lost within his thoughts, grigg finds himself moving towards open tunnels.
"perhaps time alone will clear the mind"
He mumbles
grigg gotten up and is moving around the camp, though now he's head for an adjoining tunnel not too far from the camp. Do we know how far the village is from the orc camp?

Male

All the orcs have packs, though they seem to have left them at the camp when they went off to attack the goblins.

I'll give everyone else a chance to post and myself a chance to makes stuff up

Scram observes the interaction between his and theirs. Their leader was more intelligent than most given for. He could be an useful ally or a deadly enemy. Grigg seemed to have healed Scratch and the Orcs were now playing host but the challenge.....it seemed that there is more to the challenge than expected. Indeed this orc was more than what his kind normally allowed.

The tribe was small though.

Male Mul Wizard (Enhancement) 5

The gears in Kax's mind start turning at the mention of the Trisgraks.

At the Murdit's challenge, he turns to Ipreek, a look of smug satisfaction obvious on his face. "Well, who is it to be great leader? Which of us is the strongest?" he asks in Draconic.

Male Kobold Level 1 Pistolero/Level 3 Trench Fighter

Boom-Boom pats the hilt of one of his pistols, and reverses Kax's insinuation. "Me. But it is not good to kill ally unnecessarily. The 'clicks' and the 'booms' do not like prisoners. You should be our champion."

I don't know how to deal non-lethal with firearms! :P

easy! You whack them with the butts of the pistol! XD

Male Kobold Level 1 Pistolero/Level 3 Trench Fighter

Shhh! You're blowing my cover story! :P

Male

Grigg:
The first few caves you check are empty, it seams the orcs have frightened off most of the wildlife, but eventually you come accross a few spiders small enough in size. When you turn a corner you notice a great deal more, some of them larger, but none larger than your hand. They all seem to be scampering in and out of a singular room.

The Cheiftan interjects
"Do not feel the need to fight, we do not need you to prove yourselves to us" behind the Chieftain Gugrog snorts.

male HP: 33/33 | AC: 15/13/12| Fort: +7 | Ref: +5 | Will: +8 | Init: +3 | Perc: +3 | CMB: +3 | CMD: 16|Shorsword: +4;1d4+1| hidden preist 4

Grigg:
Grigg pauses, somewhat wary of the spiders, but curiousity gnaws at his heart and compels him to further explore.
"no harm in exploring i suppose."
He looks at some of the spiders, trying to identify them from previous ventures around the tribe cave
knowledge(nature): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
That done, he slows down his pace, taking light steps towards to the heart of the spiders.
stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

Male

Grigg:
The spiders pay Grigg little heed, making it difficult to approach without stepping on some of them. They seem to all be of different species, some poisonous some not. You know it is strange that they all horde together. When you look into the room most of the spiders seem to be swarming over a small mound of dust and dirt, approximately the size of an upturned serving bowl. Here, spiders climb on top of spiders and you will be unable to approach without crushing some of them, or finding some way of getting them out of the way.
There are 3 spiders that are about a foot long (30cm), everything else is smaller.

Do you want to continue approaching? Are you OK with crushing some of them?

male HP: 33/33 | AC: 15/13/12| Fort: +7 | Ref: +5 | Will: +8 | Init: +3 | Perc: +3 | CMB: +3 | CMD: 16|Shorsword: +4;1d4+1| hidden preist 4

Grigg pauses. Then reaches out to touch a spider.
lore leeper domain power(melee touch attack): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Grigg slows down, almost to a snail's pace.he attempts to squish as few of the spiders as possible, even if it means he'll take ages to reach his destination. He attempts to use a little finesse to get past them.
Arcobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Male

Grigg:
You're just touching a random spider? I'm having a hard time finding the description of that power, what does it do? Do you have a link?
The task is a difficult one and Grigg steps on more of the creatures than he wishes. Some of them leap on his legs to avoid being stepped on, but they're easily shook off. It's only when he's close to the mound that he feels the first bite
Wounds: 1d6 ⇒ 2 You are poisoned and must make a DC 11 fort save per turn. In order to keep an eye on that let's roll initiative. You are now 15 feet from the mound.
As you near the mound the three larger spiders stop and look at you, while the rest continue to scurry around

male HP: 33/33 | AC: 15/13/12| Fort: +7 | Ref: +5 | Will: +8 | Init: +3 | Perc: +3 | CMB: +3 | CMD: 16|Shorsword: +4;1d4+1| hidden preist 4

He pushes on.

Shadow Lodge

HP: 16/22

"We shouldn't be fighting them anyway. It could create bad blood between us, and I'd rather avoid trying to out-magic the muscle of so many."

Male

Grigg:
The spidar is an ordinary cave dwelling spider, though whatever is compelling it to behave in the way that it is unusual indeed. It is not known as having a pack behaviour.

When you move closer the larder spiders rear up and start to hiss, while most of the smaller ones scatter a horde of them remain on the mound.

@Yraalik - The chieftan is only suggesting a one to one unarmed combat to prove that his tribe are strong enough, not an all out battle between kobolds and orcs

Grigg:
He pauses, and attempts to see his destination over all the spiders. At the same time,he wonders what lurks beyond the spiders.
Attempting to take 20 on perception if possible, total perception is 23.Grigg will not move while attempting this

Male

Grigg:
There is nothing beyond the spiders, just a few feet of open space and the back wall. There is a mound of dirt about half a foot tall that they all seem to be swarming over, about 10 feet away from you now

I know, but if we, the stereotypically weaker race, win then it's possible they might think we cheated.

Male

Grigg:
Grig moves up to the mound, the soil is light, as if it has reciently been piled up here.

The swarm attacks again
Wounds: 1d6 ⇒ 1

The 3 larger spiders charge in at the Cleric

Attack 3 flank: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Scram speaks up now.
"Is there a need to prove strength now? Have we not prove enough to each other against our foes? The Murdit tribe is strong though they be few. Few can match them!" playing up their obvious superiority.

"We too are strong though in different ways. In fact this is but a step. We shall need more allies. The Murdit tribe is strong and cunning, which other tribes are there?" Scram fishes around for information.

Diplomacy 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23

Male

Grigg:
Wounds/HP/Damage/Whatever :P. I also forgot to say you're poisoned again, so you need another fort save.
Grigg quickly throws aside the lightly heaped dirt and at the bottom of it finds a small pocket sized book. It is bound in black material and on the cover there is a white spider web where not all the lines connect.
I'll try to get a picture up for you tomorrow

The spiders attack again you take 1d6 ⇒ 2 hp damage from the swarm and are poisoned again
Attack 1: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Attack 2 flank: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Male

Grigg:
Withdraw only moves you your speed away. They will all still be able to charge you next turn if that's all you do. If you want to get away you're better off taking the AOO/OA and making a run action

Male Mul Wizard (Enhancement) 5

Kax chortles. "Afraid to fight without your toys?" he says to Ipreek as he saunters to the fore. The fearless red nods in Gugrog's direction and cracks his knuckles. "Any time you is ready big'un."

Male

Grigg:
The book cover It's a little crude but you get the point

As Grig flees from the swarm they sting him twice more HP damage: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8 And you are poisoned again DC 11 Fort
The larger spiders attack once more also

Attack 2 Flanking: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Attack 3 Flanking: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
but Grigg gets lucky once more

"Indeed little Kobold, by those rules" Murdit nods "Though you will find that Gugrog never yields"

Grigg:
Sorry yes Grigg is safe
The spiders chace Grigg back to the camp but turn back when they see the light of the fire
I'll assume you haven't opened the book unless you tell me otherwise

Grigg pants, clearly overwhlemed by his adventures. He hobbles back to orc camp, looking for a night of good sleep

Grigg renters the camp, looking significantly more tired and scratched up as he is.

Male Kobold Level 1 Pistolero/Level 3 Trench Fighter

Boom-Boom nods, "Well, we have our champion, you have yours. Lesee how the night's entertainment plays out, shall we?" As the words pass Ipreek's lips, he glances towards Griggs as he reenters the camp, and then in draconic sputters, "What? ...What? Where did you go?"

Male

Look at his HP he's really torn up!

male HP: 33/33 | AC: 15/13/12| Fort: +7 | Ref: +5 | Will: +8 | Init: +3 | Perc: +3 | CMB: +3 | CMD: 16|Shorsword: +4;1d4+1| hidden preist 4

"To yonder caves brother Ipreek.I met with an unfortunate gathering of pests, but I'll be fine after a night of recovery."
Grigg chuckles and pats his wounds, winching slightly."I think i'll retire early tonight. I'm sure by our lord's grace you'll do fine without me."
Grigg wheezes and trudges off.As he leaves,he turns to Ipreek and mentions
"i'll be with the weasel or just sleeping on the cave floor, patching up.Wake me up if you need me for anything at all, though i doubt you will" Grigg is just rather tired and there is no trace of sarcasm in his voice

Grigg:
as soon as he leaves the eyes of Ipreek,Grigg looks at the book again. He rummages in his pack for a coin.He murmurs "heads i read the book, tails i'll consult the others first." He flips the gold piece and watches as it spins in the air.coin(1 is heads 2 is tails): 1d2 ⇒ 2 "hmmmmmm perhaps i'll wait then" Grigg retrieves the chalice from within his robes and drink deeply from them. again the chalice is filled with water when there obviously was not before.
spontaeneous casting, converting rest of lvl 1 spells into clw.: 4d8 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (6, 1, 2, 4) + 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 = 29Grigg wipes his mouth with his hand and sets the chalice back into his robes.Content with his current state of health he cups the chalice with both hands and begins: "Oh stranger of bright darkness,I know not why you have chosen me,nor why you have granted me this gift, but i thank you for your divine watchful eye."With that done, grigg Retrieves his bedroll, and goes to sleep/

Male Kobold Level 1 Pistolero/Level 3 Trench Fighter

Yeah, I was watching it go down just wondering what was going on! I see nothing! I'm at camp eating meat and hoping to see Kax get his face stomped on! I'm not seeing this unnervingly high number of spoilered post and seeing Grigg's HP go down! Nope! :)

Boom-Boom nods at the obvious flattery, still looking confused. "Alright, guess we're only scouting tonight anyway." Shrugging, Boom-Boom turns back to matters at hand.

male HP: 33/33 | AC: 15/13/12| Fort: +7 | Ref: +5 | Will: +8 | Init: +3 | Perc: +3 | CMB: +3 | CMD: 16|Shorsword: +4;1d4+1| hidden preist 4

if ipreek had made a perception check he probably would have spotted the tome, or noticed the bites with a heal check.Grigg will share his tale tomorrow.

Male

"I had thought we would go out tonight, but if your healer is so unwell and your fighter is just about to become beaten until unconciousness... Perhaps you will be needing the rest!" the Chieftain comments on seeing Griggs condition.

Gugrog removes his weaponry and armour, strippinbg down to the waste. He is large even for an ork.
"Ready when my Chief say"
Murdit gestures to Kax
"Traditionally we fight without weapons or armour little warrior, but we will understand if you wish to keep the armour. Gugrog is intimidating!"

@Kax - After you have responded please roll iniative.

Male Mul Wizard (Enhancement) 5

Not a bad roll.

Male

The Orc champion laughs at Kax's words. As he does so the chieftan's signals to start and Gugrog's laugh turns into a bestial roar
Initiative: 1d20 ⇒ 16

Enraged Charge: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18
Unarmed Damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 non-lethal

Male Kobold Level 1 Pistolero/Level 3 Trench Fighter

As the fight begins, Ipreek grins widely. After all, regardless of who won, he did! If Kax won, the glory and strength of the kobolds was proven, and Kax would prove himself reliable in the eventual destruction of these green pig-men. If Kax lost, it would be absolutely hilarious!
