As the crowd shouts out more and more ideas and suggestions, Chieftain Zamoth crouches on his hunkers, speaking in hushed tones to the elders. Fetin leans over him nodding as the others speak. When the Chief raises again he speaks once more to the crowd.
"OK OK, the Elder's have conferred and we have come to our decision. In this the following Kobolds have been selected to represent the settlement. Ssslic the Weakling a blue scaled, gold tongued kobold to please the great lord and trick the longshanks. Ipreek, a kobold with great experience of living with the longshanks. Kax the Fiery, a warrior and true believer to protect his fellows. Grigg the scarlet shamed, his faith in the luminous one will lead to others to victory!”
The reaction of the crowd is very mixed, but it does not stop Zamoth
”Meet me by the entrance toSon of Chronepsis's treasure room in 1 hour so we may inform him of our plan, and gain his blessing. Animal rearer, I will speak with you now.”

If you have anything you want to do before meeting the Dragon, now is the time

Grigg falls to his knees.
"praise be to the great winged one, whose choice is just and fair!"
Then aside he whispers

Puffing up his chest at being chosen, Kax strides to the fore to address those other who made the cut. "Worthy though you may be in the eyes of our chieftan, make no mistake. I shall be in charge of this expedition and I expect a hundred, nah a hundred fifty percent out of all of yas. Glory to the Luminous One and death to his enemies!"

Scram casts dancing light as if to show that he's proud to be chosen though in reality he needs it to see.....being the runt that he is....His eyes not as well developed as his fellows.

"The Great lord has chosen me. Yes I'll serve him. Oh yes I'll serve him." Headin back to his rather meagre belongings, he picks up a tattered haversack and slings it over his shoulders. Ignoring the rest of his fellow kobolds as best as he can...

Bluffing his way through as silently as he can though he makes sure to espouse as much virtue and greatness of the Chosen one as much as he can.

Ipreek nods in smug satisfaction at being chosen. This quickly turns to a sneer at Kax' proclamation. "Really? Did you come up with the plan when I wasn't looking? Are your scales blue? I better leader than you, make plan, know longshanks, speak well. Do you really think you've proven yourself more than I have?"

Clashing Boom-Boom raises his hands and looks to the kobolds around him for support.

Diplomacy (Take 10): 10 + 13 = 23

"I, as a loyal follower of the Son of Chronepsis, will trust in his wisdom to decide our leadership."

Male Mul Wizard (Enhancement) 5

"If strength buys leadership, then perhaps I should do what orcs say when time comes, yes? We are kobolds, tricks and guile are ours. Act like thug all you want, but your arms are not fit to think the battle plan. And even if they were..." Ipreek turns to the nearest kobold at hand and grabs him by his shirt collar, hoists him up and tosses him towards Kax. "I still better choice." Using Muleback Cords. For purposes of lifting Clashing Boom-Boom has a 17 STR. So this is definitely a lot more bluster than actuality.

Intimidate: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

Male

You can't take 10 unless you have time enough to do it carefully. During an argument is not such a time

@Grigg - Drop 20hp for the lightning ball

Male Kobold Level 1 Pistolero/Level 3 Trench Fighter

I thought it was more that taking 10 was only something you could do in a non-stressful situation, while taking 20 was the one that actually look longer in addition? Regardless, since this has definitely spiraled into an actual argument, and therefore probably stressful, so rolling is definitely fair.

Diplomacy (to sway the crowd): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28

Male

Basically yes that's what I meant. Taking your time/non-stressed. Taking 20 is the same except you have to be able to accept anything that might go wrong at the same time, so basically you're taking 20 but you're also taking 1

I'll reply properly tomorrow morning. It's late now.

A flow of hushed curses slips from the lips of grigg as Ipreek abd Kax start bickering.
"how will we carry out the ways of our lord if we fail even to carry out our own wills? Loud, oafish, overbearing, violent, egoistic whelps.they fight for a position they fail to understand."
He turns to scram
"brother ssslic,do you not wish to lay claim to the position of leader? I am sure you would be a better choice, your scales a blessing of our lord."

Scram by this time has already crept away not wishing to be part of any arguement so near their Lord.

In answer to Grigg, he makes shushing motions as he indicates their Lord's chambers they are approaching.

Around most of the caverned town lie black orbs on sticks that emmit a dim light. It's not enough that humans can see be enough to help Scram get around without casting light all the time

Most of the dispersing crowd do not even notice scram. Some mumbelling to themselves about not being picked, others too eager to get back to their chosen vocation. Those who notice are too preocupied with the blue kobold's status and peformance to think anything odd of him

DC of this check is equal to 10 + the target's Hit Dice + the target's Wisdom modifier. I'll also give you a + 4 for getting the crowd on your side. 10 + 4 + 2 + 4 = 20

I'm afraid 23 beats that and you are forced to go along with what Kax says for the next 1d6 ⇒ 4x10 = 40 minutes. I'm afraid this makes your next post mute.
It's not much fun throwing skills at eachother, but there are set rules for their outcome

Grigg chuckles as Scram shushes him
" he has power given to him,yet he does not grasp it.Perculiar..."

Male

Just Ipreek.

Male

Also on the subject of muleback chords the text states "This bonus does not apply to combat, breaking items, or any other Strength-related rolls, it only contributes to the amount of equipment or material the wearer can carry." so you could not use it to help your intimidate check. Your roll would have netted you a 17. Which would just hit the Kax. However if I was to have done it as an opposed check he still passed by 3 while you passed by 0.

Male Kobold Level 1 Pistolero/Level 3 Trench Fighter

Yeah, that's why I initially had Ipreek only act against the crowd with his rolls, but it is what it is. Though on the note of the intimidation roll, that wasn't modified by the muleback cords. That was just me explaining how Ipreek managed to throw a kobold bystander at Kax instead of just try and throw him and resort to asking the kobold to act like Ipreek threw him across the room. The 24 (which I was hoping to do as an opposed challenge) was what I got without any modifier from Muleback Cords. 18 for the roll+1 Rank+3 Class Skill+1 Charisma+1 Extremely Fashionable.

Male

Woops. That's me confusing pathfinder with the 40k RPGs. Intimidate is not based on strength here.

Lets just leave it as it is for now, rather than doubling back. Next time I will do it as opposed, for now you have been subdued into letting Kax be "leader".

Male Kobold Level 1 Pistolero/Level 3 Trench Fighter

Fair enough, but could we as players not really let things keep going this direction? I really don't want to start picking appart the rules to point out that if we're using these, then I also improved Kax's mood towards me by one step (most likely to friendly) as he's part of the crowd, and that in the one minute long action to intimidate me after my diplomacy, I just do a one round diplomacy check to make a request of Kax and have him happily give me the leadership position with fuss and in fact thinks Ipreek is a great guy. :\

Things just go south real fast and usually end in Coup De Grace attacks in the night when things like this happen.

Edit: As for other actions, Ipreek's just going to be gathering his belongings, avoiding Kax for the duration of the Intimidate, and then returning to Leumoth's chambers.

Male Mul Wizard (Enhancement) 5

Not quite courageous enough to try his luck to against the whole of the assembled crowd, but unwilling to lose face, Kax grits his teeth. "Alright green-scale. I'm gracious and allow ya temporary command, until you screw it up that is."

Whoa, lot of back and forth since yesterday.
I'm going to let the dice fall where they may. (Ipreek's 1 point higher intimidate check)
I think having Ipreek and Kax continunally bicker and vie for dominance will make for a good roleplay. I was not intending for it to end in direct violence.

Male Kobold Level 1 Pistolero/Level 3 Trench Fighter

Works for me, I assume that leadership will probably change hands several times through out the campaign. And even then, it will mostly be the people behind the curtain (otherwise known as, The Players) who will really run the show). So even if Ipreek is a obstinate jerk, always feel free to poke me as the player and say "Hey, I think this is a good idea" at which point, Ipreek may well say "Hey! I've got a good idea!" IC I am trying to Shanghai control of the party, but OOC I'm more than happy to work more democratically. :)

Clashing Boom-Boom gives Kax a nod. "Be ready to wait a while." Then he turns off to go and gather his belongings for the journey.

Bluff: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

Sense Motive 12:
If there's ever been a face that says "I'm probably going to go puke in fear where no one can see me," that's probably what it looks like. And there's a subtle, but obvious to those who know where to look tremble in the little green kobold's legs. I was planning to have Ipreek succumb to the intimidation regardless, was just initially running as though he was holding it together enough to retort, but was hiding blatant terror.

Chieftain Zamoth meets you at the entrance to the Luminous One's Throne room. Where the rest of the settlement is clearly carved out of rock and maintains it's cave like beauty, the entrance doors are gigantic golden ornate constructs. Engraved in the doors is a mural of a great dragon over a forest laying waste to an elven settlement.
Inside the room is more embellished than any throne room than you could ever imagine. Pillars of gold with silver slivers go from the ground to the sealing. The wall are hung with great tapestries depicting great dwarven and lizard-folk kings. The semblance of a cave system is left behind and some small openings in the sealing strike the mounds of gold on the floor, giving the entire spectacle a pleasant glow. On these mounds the Great Blue Dragon rests as dozens of blue kobolds in white robes run around washing it, massaging it's muscles, cleaning it's teeth as well as polishing and arranging the treasure. Not one of these servants is armed in any way.
Before the Son of Chronepsis is a raised area clear of treasure, to which the Chieftain leads you. It is large enough for the entire party to stand on it comfortably.
”Our Lord!” Chieftan dropping to one knee
The dragons head lazily moves to regard the group, it's lean wiry muscles moving under it scales in an impressive manner. The great one does not deem to speak, but Zamoth continues.
”These great kobolds have come up with a plan to rid our Lord, of the fear of adventurers and thieves”
”Speak your plan great kobolds the dragon says the words 'great kobolds' with a strong air of sarcasm.

This would be the first time any of you would have seen your lord. Who wants to respond?

Male Kobold Level 1 Pistolero/Level 3 Trench Fighter

As Boom-Boom enters the throne room, he gasps and in a bout of meat instinctual avarice, looks to see if any of this treasure is all of unattended, small enough to fit in a pocket, and in their path.

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

The booming voice of his Lord breaks his greedy search, and he lowers his head and quakes timidly, any attempt to hide this one certainly isn't working. After a few moments, and Grigg being admonished, Ipreek steps forward, and follows suit of Chieftan Zamoth and drops to a knee himself and speaks in what has been his most clear and fluent Draconic he's ever spoken amongst the tribe. It certainly has the smell of being a prepared speech, though here and there his grammar still comes off with its typical stilted nature.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24

"My Lord, Glorious Luminous One, I am Ipreek by birth, Clashing Boom-Boom by deed. I was born of a far off tribe of kobolds but was raised by a band of human pirates after my home was sacked by adventurers. In this, I heard your concerns not just as your subject, but from the pain of old wounds. And based on my experience amongst the humans and their lot, I did my best to emulate the cunning, wisdom attributed to you and all great dragons blessed with scales of blue, and formed the basis of plan with the help of my colleagues."

Boom-Boom inclines his head back to the rest of the party. "The plan is simple. Those of town assume us monsters, this is the greatest challenge before us. To convince populace that we come in peace would take some kind of intervention of luck. As we wish to see you will carried out, we must make luck then. The orcs, goblins, and their lot who still infest these caves harbor no love of the settlement outside or us. But we they fear. So we demand a group of them serve as the vanguard of an attack against the settlement, and offer to split loot. Obviously, this is a trap. As the serve us in this way, and the humans and their ilk rally to defend themselves, we begin our attack into not the settlement, but orcs or goblins. All the while we shout loudly in common language to protect the settlement and its citizens, making sure that the first slain are any orc who speak common themselves. That way orcs take secret to the crows, not the humans. In this we accomplish four things. We remove some of the filth in the goblinoids infesting your home. We prove ourselves capable of defending the town and willing. We show our ability to not be the monsters they fear. And perhaps most importantly, we indebt themselves to us."

Raising his hands in what he hopes to be an acceptable amount of supplication, Ipreek finishes, "O Son of Chronepsis, I ask that you let me and my fellow serve you I'm this task. With me to continue hatching schemes and plans in your glory, and lead this expedition."

Boom-Boom inches closer to Zamoth, hoping that proximity to the usually favored chieftain will offer some protection.

When Ipreek speaks, he subtly inches away from the green-scale to avoid any stray bolts of lightning.

Male

"You disturbed my rest to ask my permission to befriend Dwarfs, Humans and Elves? What has this to do with Adventurers? Speak quickly, my patience grows thin!" The dragon's tail begins to flick back and forth like that of a cat with it's eyes on it's next meal

Ipreek ducks his head, cowed. "We would use them to misdirect the adventurers away from us, and warn us of their coming if they could not trick them, so we could ambush and destroy the adventurers before they approach your magnificence! "Grand plans indeed" Luemoth raises to his full height, towering over the party proudly. He looks very much the regal ruler of a kingdom, surrounded by the rooms finery.
"But townsfolk are stupid and easily frightened. The moment they hear the word Dragon the will start plotting my demise, perhaps even petitioning this demon king for protection. This cannot come to pass..." The dragons great eyes look over the party awaiting their solution to this problem...

Ipreek keeps his head down, not yet confident enough to raise it. "In your great wisdom, Oh Great Luminous, you came to us in secret, and secret I plan to keep. Never would disagree with the decisions you made, and until you choose to reveal yourself, I shall do utmost to keep you veiled in secret." They need not know about your magnificence but know that they'll have a powerful patron in time should you choose to reveal yourself, the towns folk will prostrate before you naming you as savior.
