I'm guessing that preparing a Polypurpose Panacea (Sleep) extract and dosing some jerky with it isn't likely to work, right? :) I do have infusion for whatever that's worth.
It's a cantrip level effect, so it seems doubtful. Response will go up when I know if I can try this or not. :)

I am getting a little worried here, as I feel we are not getting traction to move the game forward.
I am going too fast?
Too boring?
Do we need to change something?
Gyllan Dow |
I think it's a little early to make that judgment. You are moving at a much faster pace than DMDE was. Personally, I think we were going too slowly before, but we may have a period of adjustment as we figure out what pace everyone can keep. Also, I find weekends are a lot slower for posting, and for some reason this weekend has been crawling in almost all my games. As a result, the waiting for Ripperclaws seems to be taking extra long, as you wait for the other players to post any actions they'll take before he arrives.
I say we give it some time, you keep going at the pace you enjoy, and we'll let everyone weigh in on whether it's working for them.

Weekends do tend to be harder for me, especially right now when we are trying to get ready to move in two weeks. But I like the kick up in the games pace and the vivid descriptions. Right now, however, it is a little tough to post and contribute as Rommin since we are still hoping to resolve this diplomatically, which is not his forte.
Gyllan Dow |
Anybody see this encounter going anywhere but a fight? We weren't really sent to make friends with Ripperclaw, so I think fighting him is okay, but I don't want to start something if anyone thinks there's a different approach still available to us.
Corsario |
If is any consolation, Ripperclaw was not interested in making friends either, and was trying to lure you into an ambush.
I am waiting for you to roll initiative. Is a way to see who is "active" and who doesn't.
Corsario |
I am making a change... the Dire Rats are not affected by Blistering Invective, as they don't understand the insult. :P
Gyllan Dow |
Makes sense, it's a language-dependent spell. I have an inquisitor who loves to use it, but has to be careful about who he tries to use it on - sometimes he casts tongues first, to broaden his options.
Gyllan Dow |
All - I will be leaving on Sunday for two weeks of travel for work. I should still be able to post with some regularity, but my schedule will be busy and I'll be many time zones away, so likely won't be posting as much or on the same schedule.
Corsario |
Sorry for the delay... I will try to get the attack from the ambush ready today.

About the flanking... are you sure?
I have always thought that if you are positioned like that (not completely on opposite sides) you do flank.
When in doubt about whether two characters flank an opponent in the middle, trace an imaginary line between the two attackers' centers. If the line passes through opposite borders of the opponent's space (including corners of those borders), then the opponent is flanked.
About Criticals and Fumbles: What can I say. I like the "cinematic" opportunities of those. I like to make something of those rolls. Sometimes it will be good for you, sometimes don't. I hope you don't mind.

Yep, I'm sure, and the text you quoted demonstrates it. I can't draw on your map, but if you draw a line from the center of one wererat's token to the center of the other wererat's token, that line passes through adjacent borders of Gyllan's space, not opposite borders. The line has to pass through the opposite (parallel) sides, not just through two sides, of the square. Looking at this diagram from the PRD, the wererats are currently in situation #2 in relation to Gyllan.

Sure, that's fine, and can be fun. Is there a rule set you're using or are you just creating effects as they happen?
Corsario |
About flanking you are completely right... they both miss.
No rules, just letting my imagination fly, trying to make, both criticals and fumbles, cinematic and fun.

Hi guys,
I’ve decided to retire from PbP gaming and will move away from the boards over the next few days. I started PbP in 2008. Over those years, I’ve met and played with amazing GMs and players. I’m grateful for all the things I’ve learned playing with them.
I’m sorry for the disruptions my sudden leaving causes
Happy gaming,
DW
(This message is posted in all my current games.)

Sorry to see you go, DW. It's been a lot of fun playing with you over the years. Take care and happy gaming!

Hi guys,
I have kept in touch with Corsario over the last few days, asking him to give me some time to think things over, to see if there was a way for me to continue playing without feeling like it was work, or taking too much time away from RL.
I've done this only for the games dearest to me, looking for fewer, deeply rich games. I've let things sit with me for a week or so, then returned and read the threads, to see if there was still a spark left.
It seems like there is :) I've asked Corsario if I could join back, and he's kindly accepted.
I'm sorry for the disruption my personal aleas may have caused. I can only hope I can make it worth your while through dedicated posting.
Corsario |
I have to say sorry too, as I also have been missing.
Will resume tonight.
Gyllan Dow |
I'll be leaving for PaizoCon on Friday morning, and returning Monday evening, and will likely have very little time to post while I'm there. If I'm holding things up, bot me.

Just to double check, you know I'm using my silvered heavy mace, right? :) Wasn't sure if the flavor text was hinting at DR.
Corsario |
So... will you engage the otyugh? Befriend him? Release him?
Will you leave it there, trapped?
Kill it?
