Try not to die

Game Master DEWN MOU'TAIN

Yeah, i said it. I am bored of Pathfinder. The setting, the rules, the ability for PCs to survive easily any encounter i throw at them. i need a break from it. A palette cleanser, if you will. So, i raided my RPG library, and settled upon something that i havent played in a few years, but always left my players with that "oh my god i am so going to die" feeling at every gaming session.

That's right, i am talking about Warhammer fantasy rpg, (2nd ed). Where you start off with only a couple hit points, everything is out to kill you, (including your own mother), and chaos is willing to give you whatever you desire for your soul. The cross between Dungeons and Dragons meets Conan the barbarian with a splash of hopelessness mixed in. A well placed blow can destroy you, even at higher levels, and there is no resurrection spell for you. Nope. Nada. (Using magic can render you insane!)

So, my question to you is, are you game? I have a pre-gen adventure path that i would be willing to run. The only thing i would point out up front is that character creation would be 100% randomized, including your race and career path and traits and so on...

So, do you think you can handle the carnage and come out on top? or will you wallow in the filth catching rats, praying that the Skaven dont catch you...

I'm in!!!

Spaz, i think you set the all time record for first response posting...

LOL...was guiness watching ?

I will bite, and hope the dice gods are kind.

This arouses my interest. Would it be PBP or live online?

Pathfinder Adventure Subscriber

Warhammer forever...as long as it's PbP!!!!

it is pbp

Rock on, then. Consider me interested.

well...that was fast.

ok. so let me ask, does everyone have access to the warhammer fantasy 2nd edition rpg core rule book?

Can I get in as well? I've been in two WFRPG one on table top and one on PBP but they did not last past the first encounter due to GM loss.

I've got most of the 2nd edition as well.

Yes indeed, although I've never actually played it. Mostly because no one else I know locally is particularly interested in playing.

Edit: I really hope I end up with a Dwarf, I've been wanting to base a character on Matul Remrit for some time.

sure. this is still open for recruitment.

I'll put this out there:

to determine your race, roll a d10 and consult the chart below

1-2 human
3-4 dwarf
5-6 halfling
7-8 elf
9 reroll
10 players choice

I'm game. But I'm unfamiliar with the system. Would you be willing to stick with me for a bit while I learn? I'll purchase the book as well, so I have access.

Race: 1d10 ⇒ 8

Interested... but if the careers are randomised less so... have a burning desire to play a zealot with flagellant or death career plan :)

Race: 1d10 ⇒ 3

Edit: Yeeeeeeesssssssss....

I do have access to the book. I have never gotten to play before.
1d10 ⇒ 9 reroll
1d10 ⇒ 8 elf I can live with that I guess

Well let's see...1d10 ⇒ 1

Human it is:)

wow...two elves... uh oh...

This sounds like the beginning of a bad joke. "A dwarf, a human, and two elves walk into a bar..."

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

Elves are the base powerful race in WH, so yeah, that's an auspicious start.

==Aelryinth

1d10 ⇒ 5

That makes it a halfling. That's bound to be fun :)

I'd be interested, if there's still space:
Race: 1d10 ⇒ 9
Try again
Race2: 1d10 ⇒ 10
I'm going to stay away from the special guys and stick with a Human then.

so far...

elves x2
halfling x1
human x2
dwarf x1

I really like the atmosphere of WFRPG when you start as a hopeless character. Now let's just hope we won't stay like that all the way:)

Plus you need 3 or 4 back up characters from the start:)

ok I screwed up my post. Was editing previous post and something went awry.

Elf Name ---- 1d100 ⇒ 22 = Dolwen

Dolwen. I could have been Eldillor or Cavendil. But mom had to go with Dolwen...

My hand weapon will be an axe. And I'll even see where I got it from with this magnificent link.

Where'd I Get My Hand Weapon? ---- 1d100 ⇒ 86 = I won it in a bet.

I bet that dwarf sorely regrets chiming in with an intendedly ironic "AND MY AXE!" at the wrong moment. Now I carry around a dented, bent, rusted, chipped and cracked old ugly piece of sharp dwarven metal I lovingly call "Cleavy."

And of course, since I was born in Altdorf, that means I also got a dooming when the time was right... Morr's followers are all-inclusive in their terrifying of young children, after all.

Dooming ---- 1d100 ⇒ 17 = "Eat not the chitterlings or the meat with tubes."

Alright. So I die from choking on haggis. Or maybe that dwarf will catch up to me and choke me to death with haggis. This could put a big dampen on my future. Gotta remember to stay away from intestines.

Punching people with a skill of +45% and 1d10+1 damage is actually hilariously deadly. (Remember that unarmed strikes are SB-4. I'm SB 3, with +1 from Street Fighting and +1 from Strike Mighty Blow...) If I noggin-shot someone with low starting wounds I could kill them in one solid smack. God bless Warhammer Fantasy Role Play.

Oh, and if anyone wants a Dooming, let me know. I own Tome of Salvation so I can just look it up for you real quick. It's 1d100. : )

A dooming is what Morr's followers do for children: when they come of age, they sit them down, perform a ritual and tell them how they're going to die. Maybe a friend in need brings blood with speed, or you should not want for blood for blood wants for you. You know. It's fluff. But it's kind of neato.

That actually sounds pretty cool Brandr, I'll take one.
dooming: 1d100 ⇒ 6

Also, just for the halibut, let's see what alternate career I could pick. I'm pretty happy with Runebearer, but I might get something cooler.
alt career: 1d100 ⇒ 55 = Rat Catcher. I'll stick with Runebearer, heh.

Rat Catcher is the best career in the game. You get a small but vicious dog! And 1d10 dead rats!

That's like... 1d10 ⇒ 10 dead rats!

Your dooming with a 6 is: "A stalled blade bringeth a sharp end."

Ooh, spooky. Don't hesitate to cut people. You should probably carry a mace just in case, you know. You don't want to invoke the dooming by accident.

Well, if you still have room...
