Tide of Morning The Confirmation Table The Confirmation Table 2

“Pathfinders, I’m sure you know our associate, Guaril Karela, if not personally then by reputation,” says Ambrus Valsin while gesturing to the Varisian man seated across from him. “We’ve had reports from a confidential informant in the Aspis Consortium that trouble is brewing in Tamran. Probably not coincidentally, several of Karela’s shipments bound for Tamran have gone missing.” Guaril adds, “You see, the Molthuni navy maintains a rather tyrannical blockade around the city—a blockade past which my associates and I have helped Ambrus move items numerous items. It’s not so difficult; the Molthuni are not the brightest stars in the sky. Or at least it wasn’t difficult until recently. An unknown party has intercepted my last dozen shipments, and I doubt Molthune is responsible. When I lose shipments—” “—Our lodge in Tamran loses much needed supplies,” finishes Ambrus. “Not to mention the fact that Guaril provides many important goods to the people of Tamran, such as food and medicine. Your mission is to accompany Guaril to Tamran and investigate the disappearances and thefts. Hopefully Oraiah Tolal, our venture-captain in Tamran, will have more leads. “You depart with Karela in two hours. If you have any questions, or any supplies to purchase, I advise you do so now.”

A brown-haired, pretty human woman of Taldan descent and athletic build tilts her head, pondering a question for a moment. "I'm assuming that we're to put a stop to the disappearances, then? Do we want to avoid diplomatic incidents? As I recall, the Molthuni are not on friendly terms with the Society to begin with," she says.

A brawny muscle bound Dwarf is seen practicing his form in the corner of the room, to those versed in martial arts, they can tell it's the way of the dragon. He practices for several minutes waiting for his orders, as well as to meet his new associates. He then notices a young woman, being the gentleman he is he moves to introduce himself,

An athletic man of average height walks in calmly with a respecting nod towards the VC and assembled Agents, listening calmly to the presentation, and taking out a small journal to take notes as Ambrus Valsin, and this new comer, Guaril Karela comment on what needs to be done, also taking down the names of those brave, (or perhaps insane), Pathfinders.

He seemed familiar somehow. Not someone I'd wish to associate with, but familiar, and not outright repugnant.

Christoff is bedecked in an ancient style of heavy plate armor, covered in various depictions of noble swords, and iconography of holiness, light, and righteous endeavors. He comes off as stern, but trustworthy and good-natured. The only weapon he carries is likewise an ancient appearing broadsword, looking like it's seen many battles, and while it's style is long out of date, just as the armor, which seem to be a set, it's still fully functional and otherwise very well kept.

With a gentlemen's salute, "I am Sir Christoff, a humble servant of the Crusader, and I am honored to be counted amongst thine number." While he has a strong hint of Ulfen Blood, his speech and mannerism are much more of that of Taldan's past, when the Empire was in it's full glory, standing tall amongst legends.

Bowing before Lara, "Lady" before taking the her hand for a proper introduction, and then likewise performing the proper arm-embrace of the dwarven warriors towards Tholand, "Master Dwarf".

"I advice we avoid any incidents, "diplomactic" or otherwise, until we have a much better view of what is truly going on there. I should warn thee that my first priority must be the aid of innocents, and the recovery of the food and medicines."

Falling silent for a moment to consider the tasks at hand, "Can you tell us anything about either Oraiah Tolal or Tamran's Lodge? I'm unfamiliar with the endeavors there. What cause is there for a blockade to begin with? And finally,. . ." levelling a non-joking stare at Mr. Karela, "What else was stolen?"

"Sorry for running behind everyone" a young human man runs through the doors of the building, leather armor stained with yesterdays leftovers, a very large sword held to his side, his medium length light brown hair moist with sweat "I would like to introduce myself my name is Blank OuterRim and I am happy to be of service on behalf of the Pathfinder Society to serve as an asset on this mission." Blank nods to the VC out of respect for arriving late. "Please continue captain." Blank is a tad on the forgetful side and not always one to admit it, he is usually seen as unkept, he is very curious about the ongoing world and the strange claws growing from him when he is angered, he is always freespirited making his own way in this world and walking to the beat of his own drum most of the time. Blank has found work alligning within the pathfinder society for exploration and to also gain a little gold on the way.

Tide of Morning The Confirmation Table The Confirmation Table 2

Sorry for delayed post. I had to work a 24 hour shift last min with no internet.

“Hmm, quick history lesson: Molthune was both part of the Chelish empire that broke into pieces following the death of Aroden. The country’s militant leaders continued to exploit the forests to the north, driving the rural population to secede and form their own nation called Nirmathas. Molthune has maintained an ongoing campaign ever since to recapture the rebel-held lands, though most of the Inner Sea region’s leaders now recognize Nirmathas’s legitimacy—or at least do not denounce their efforts. The blockade is one of Molthune’s ongoing ways of harassing its northern rival.”

after a momentary pause

"Tamran is the capital of Nirmathas, where Pathfinders founded the "Ashfall Lodge" only a decade ago. In doing so, the Society inadvertently made an enemy of Nirmathas’s neighbor to the south: Molthune, an expansionist military state that has long struggled to conquer Nirmathas and perceived the lodge’s creation as the Society picking a side."

After fiddling through some papers he finds a list of the stolen items and just looks at the scroll as it unroles into the floor and almost to the door.

“This list of stolen goods is extensive. Mostly mundane supplies, food, medicine, alchemical and magical crafting materials, and the like. We’ve also been having trouble receiving reports and artifacts from the Tamran lodge.”

Know History DC 10+:
The Nirmathi are outmatched by the Molthuni in numbers, and so they rely on guerilla tactics to win their war of independence. To this day, the capital Tamran and its surrounds are not protected by a single army but by loose collection of militias.

Know History DC 15+:
Molthune has captured and occupied Tamran five times throughout its history, but the Nirmathi have retaken it each time. Fortifications proved ineffective against the Molthuni armies, so the Nirmathi simply tore down the walls; this makes it harder for the Molthuni to hold the city, and the forces invariably withdraw and burn down the city after sustaining too much harassment.

Know History DC 20+:
Armies of the Shining Crusade fought the forces of the Whispering Tyrant over the area now occupied by Nirmathas, and the ruined fortresses left behind by the crusaders still remain to this day.

Guaril Karela provides a ship to take him and you to Tamran, using the cover of night and his own cunning to slip through the Molthuni blockade. You reach Tamran in the early hours of the morning. A local Pathfinder agent named Reginar Lacklan surreptitiously greets you and guides you to the Ashfall Lodge. Karela explains that he has his own enquiries to pursue and will meet you at the Ashfall Lodge in three days to see what they’ve learned.

Like much of the city, Ashfall Lodge rises above the marshy ground; however, whereas most other buildings stand atop piers and pilings, the Pathfinder lodge straddles three broad cypress trees. Rope bridges and wooden slat ladders wind across its outer branches, leading to a handful of tiny cabins for storage and visiting agents. Two bell pulls hang from the southern tree—one weighted by a medallion depicting the Glyph of the Open Road and the other weighted by a bronze symbol of two faces in profile. Reginar takes hold of the Open Road rope and gives it a sharp pull, sounding a high-pitched bell in the lodge above. From above, a gray-haired halfling woman examines the visitors, smiles, and drops a rope ladder. She nimbly clambers down and gestures grandly to the elevated structure. “Welcome, Pathfinders. May Ashfall Lodge be your home away from home and your welcome to a new land. If you’ll accompany me, I can answer any questions you might have.”

She leads you into her office. There she explains that her own attempts to investigate the thefts were stymied by a pernicious rumor spreading through Tamran slandering the Pathfinder Society in general—and more specifically herself and Reginar—as Molthuni sympathizers. Oraiah suspects that the rumor campaign may be linked to the disappearance of Guaril Karela’s shipments, but she has no proof. She suggests that the PCs might be able to learn more, given that they are relative newcomers to the area. After all, whoever is spreading the rumors hasn’t had the chance to fully turn the city against them.

The Docks::
[b]“Karela’s shipments across the lake haven’t been getting through, which means the bandits must have a ship. If they have a ship, they’ve probably visited Tamran’s docks.”

The Gar’s Last Meal::
“Many consider it the only inn in town worth staying at—a harsh verdict but a great place to dig up rumors.”

The Forest Bounty::
“That’s the town’s most popular feast hall. These days it’s seen a lot of traffic from members of the city’s various militias. You probably won’t get a very friendly reception, what with the rumors around town, but talking to the militia patrols is your best bet at learning what’s going on outside the city.”

The Market District::
“We haven’t been getting our supplies, but several of the more… illicit… items Karela used to bring into the city are still appearing in the market. That suggests someone in town is fencing goods for the thieves.”

Oraiah offers you a place to stay at the lodge. Further, she can cast the following spells for you free of charge for the duration of the adventure whenever they visit the lodge: cure light wounds, cure moderate wounds, cure serious wounds, magic vestment, remove blindness/deafness, remove curse, and remove disease.

Ok. I know this is a hudge post so feel free to ask questions for any part.

Lara nods, recalling what she read in a book once about Nirmathan history. "Perhaps the Molthuni are trying to undermine popular support rather than attempt another ultimately-futile invasion," she remarks.

After arriving in Tamran, her only question for Oraiah is, "Which merchants have been selling these illicit goods? Perhaps we should look into who their suppliers are."

Earlier
Sir Christoff introduces himself to the two new arrivals, though it's clear he is uncomfortable with bringing such a young child along into danger, even if she is tough and powerful enough to handle it, though if that's what the Society wants. . .

Taking a knee to get down to her level, and offering a friendly smile, "Welcome, young lady. I'm certain thou might find plenty of opportunity to offer they aid to people in our travels."

And to Blank, "Another warrior, I see. Good, as one can not have too many. I am Sir Christoff," again taking his arm in a warriors handshake, "and whilst I'd prefer to avoid bloodshed if possible, better to be ready for when it is not."

Later

"I wonder, would it not be a better venture for the Society to instead establish a lodge in Molthune, attempt to balance the discrepancy, and even establish a base that might, one day, lead to the two powers finding peace? Perhaps this is too much philosophy for the moment, with the task at hand."

"We will, of course, investigate and bring you what news we find. I'd suggest looking into the Market first, so that if it takes the day, we might still have a chance to look into the other two this night."

Before I forget, I want to cast Light on my sword's blade every 40 mins, (even if it is sheathed most of the time), just to keep it constantly active.

And if there's people stealing food and medicine from those who really need it, then they deserve a good butt kicking!"

She takes offense to Tholand's comments however, "Hey, who are you calling little? You're no taller then I am! Plus, I'm almost 10! So I'm basically an adult. So don't you worry about me, mister, or I may have to light you on fire." She folds her arms and marches off defiantly.

Lara unshoulders her bow, nocks an arrow to the drawstring, and lets fly at the man. "Surely you don't think these fine people would fall for your attempts to cast Pathfinders for Molthuni spies," she remarks. "Everyone knows the Molthuni hate Pathfinders."

Save the fire blast. Lara took it down

3 hours of searching and you find Gilligam, a purveyor of contraband substances of all kinds. Gilligam is a tall, obese man with a scraggly red chin-beard.

After a little interigation he finaly pipes up. “I knew this was going to come back to bite me! You’re here to break my legs or something, right? Well you don’t have to—I’ll tell you everything! Just don’t hurt me! I used to buy from Guaril Karela; now I buy from whoever is stealing from Karela. Hey, what’s it matter to me? When I meet them, it’s always on the north end of town, so I figure they must have a hideout up north somewhere. Please, that’s all I know!”

DC 15 Sense Motive:
You catch him in a lie and when confronted. “Okay, okay, they come from the river! They sell for half what I used to pay Karela! I hope you never catch them!”

My appologies for late post. Field is taking more time than thought.

Tide of Morning The Confirmation Table The Confirmation Table 2

The Forest Bounty is a popular feast hall located on the north side of Tamran. Lately, members of several local militias have taken to using the Forest Bounty as an informal meeting place, and these militias make up the majority of the feast hall’s clientele as they resupply, trade scouting reports, and compare scars. The feast hall remains busy throughout the day and well into the night until it closes just after midnight.

The interior of this enormous wooden long house is brightly lit and filled with the sounds of laughter, music, and merriment. Food scents mingle with the smoke of cooking fires and tobacco pipes. Servants carry food and drinks from the open kitchen area to the various wooden benches and tables that fill the hall. Many of the patrons are armed and armored, proudly bearing the insignia of local militia groups on their cloaks and tabards, along with the sword and tree symbol of Nirmathas.

The majority of the feast hall’s customers are veterans of the ongoing hostilities with Molthune, and as a result they are especially irritable about the news of potential traitors. Upon entering the feast hall, you cause all conversation and music to stop momentarily as the patrons turn to examine the you. They immediatly recognize you as pathfinders and dont appear to be enjoying your presents. After a few minutes the patrons go back to their buisness and music starts playing again.

Shortly after the you begin asking questions about the missing goods, a middle-aged male human approaches, a wounded veteran clad in a green cloak bearing the symbol of Nirmathas. He walks with a noticeable limp and is missing his left arm from the elbow down. He approaches you and begins talking.

“Now is not a good time for strangers to be asking questions in Tamran. There are rumors that spies walk among us and that Pathfinders are among those spies. I find it a little hard to believe, given Pathfinders helped me out in a time of need,” he remarks, gesturing with his hand to his amputated arm.

"We are Pathfinders, friend, but we are not spies for Molthune."

Hoping that it might ease the veteran's concerns, I'll show him my crusader's cross, (dog tags), and indicate from my holy symbol my affiliation, "I see that, like thineself, I am also a warrior for the people, and I can understand thine concerns. Please, sir, join us and let us speak. We have no ill will towards Nirmathas, and to be completely honest, none towards Molthune, either. My only concern is for those innocents caught in the middle. We are here because we believe someone is attempting to use the ongoing war as a way to attack us. They slander us here within Nirmathas, calling us spies and traitors, and also managed through the blockade, to steal some of the shipments of medicine and supplies we had helped organize to reach the people that need them. This is why we are here, to retrieve those supplies, and to find out whom is responsible."

Yoon tries to but on her saddest face and use her youth to her advantage, hoping the man will pity the dishevled looking girl. "Please help us mister. My little brother is sick and he needs the medicine they stole. He's so weak and I'm scared hes going to die." She forces a tear and hugs Gom-Gom close for extra effect.
