There is one last place that has yet to make sense to the group: The towering wall of spiked golden coins. As Maria previously discovered, it is not actually made of spiked golden coins. Rather, it is all made of stone that has been carved and painted so elaborately, that from a distance it all looks to be real.

Cleo can spy a little slot in the pile of coins. This slot looks big enough to slip a coin into, but there doesn't seem to be a clear way of retrieving the coin.

*Clink* goes the coin as it falls into the stone slot, never to be seen again. The entire wall begins to shake, then slowly descends into the floor, revealing a passageway. On the other side are three impressively carved stone double doors. The doors to the left are engraved with a massive throne, surrounded by cloaked figures who are kneeling to the throne itself. The doors to the right have no handles, and are engraved with the image of a ferocious wolf-like creature. In the wolf's eyes there are symbols of a seven-pointed star. The room straight ahead does have handles, and the doors are engraved with the images of skeletons.

Maria does not detect any traps at any of these doors. However, she does identify that the doors without handles require some sort of 'magic key' in order to open.

Anyone else having serious problems connecting to this webpage? I find that when I try to load the page, it works maybe 10% of the time.

This barren room contains an upraised dais on which sits a marble throne. To either side stand statues of a man clutching a book and a glaive. A ghostly figure seems to be seated in the throne, an image of the same man who appears in the statues. He seems to be addressing an audience as he moves his hands about, his fingers decorated with hooked rings, but the words issuing from his phantom mouth are difficult to make out and in a strange language.

I THINK I finally fixed the problem!

Cleo doesn't recognize this figure in any of her lessons of the various Gods. Even Aroden the dead god of humanity doesn't fit this description. She figures that either this god died so incredibly long ago that it isn't known anymore, or it was a mortal king who liked to be revered as a god.

Side note: Aroden died roughly 100 years ago in a cataclysmic event. All of his worshippers lost their powers, two theocratic empires fell, and most of his followers joined Iomedae, Sarenrae, or Asmodeus.

Cleo scrunches her nose in frustration. I'm sorry. I have no idea. she'll do a brief look around to make sure nothing stands out to give us an idea what this is about. perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24

If nothing does. At least it didn't jump out of it's throne to chop us into little bits. she gives a relieved smile, than glancing at the image again, to make sure.

The only thing that Cleo notices is that the image skips after a certain moment and then repeats in an endless loop. The entire speech seems to last no longer than 30 seconds.

-The Skeleton Room-
This room contains three low tables, their tops covered with a strange and chilling selection of tools, saws, long-bladed knives, and objects who purpose is not readily apparent. A strange collection of bones lies near the southern table - too many to be one skeleton, but too few to be two.

Aggah races over to the tools to tell Cleo about all the terrible ways Brunkel would uses these devices when a goblin was in 'detention'. Although these fine implements could be used for torture, Cleo can also see that they would work well as surgeon's tools.

Maria goes straight for the shiny. A silver and gold seven-pointed star rests at the end of a table. One side is studded with nodules and blades, but the other has a thin, curved handle.

Shalelu curiously eyes the brittle skeleton bones. "Three heads, one and a half spines, one pelvis, two legs, four arms... Human, I think."

"That's horrible, Aggah." Cleo listens with horror to the tales of detention. "Brunkel, he was the bugbear having... um... relations with the goblin women upstairs?" looking over the implements, she feels objects can carry the evils people did with them, so decides to pass on using them to heal.

Huh... she comes to see what Grunyar is talking about. It does have a certain pointy charm, I guess.

At Shalelu's comment, she comes over and whispers a prayer, hoping it helps those who suffered find some solace if they haven't already.

Just briefly before Cleo prays, she notices that since these bones all have the same features to them, that they must have belonged to a single creature. All of the bones. After her prayer, the bones all crumble into dust.

How did he die? Cleo asks Aggah, only slightly put out since she assumes she and her friends were the hero in the hero slaya.

If you guys decide you'd like to take something with you, just lemme know. Moving onwards, since we're having issues with the site.

The great stone door with no handles bears an indent of a seven pointed star, roughly the same size as the one Maria is carrying. When she fits it into place and turns the handle, the door slowly creeks open. (Maria is able to retrieve the key if she so desires).

Changing the layout of the map just slightly here.

This 30x15ft rectangular room features a large pit of flickering flame that fills the area with humid heat, but also the stench of burning hair. The doors that you enter create a translucent orange light that crosses to each door, yet does not harm nor bar your entry. To each side of the northern corners, wooden risers feature several dozen golden candles that are alight, yet do not melt. The southern wall presents a massive carving of a seven pointed star, framed by two alcoves with bare shelves, save for one little golden box resting in the south-east alcove.

A deep, menacing voice emanates from within the room, making sounds one did not think were possible. "מה נכנס לתחום שלי"

Aggah thinks for a moment, then her eyes go wide. She hurridly flatens herself to the floor and pleads (in Goblin) "Oh great and mighty Malfeshnekor! Do not smite Aggah! Aggah hears Malfeshnekor, feels Malfeshnekor, smells Malfeshnekor! Malfeshnekor wants something! Tell Aggah what!"

And in reply, the deep voice answers (also in Goblin)

The barbarian woman grits her teeth, and looks back at their disjointed and wounded group - "You are probably right Cleo" - she whispers, stepping back and following her companion's advice by closing and locking the door - "But will it simply stay there, whatever it is?"

As Helgarr begins to close the doors, Shalelu yells out "Do you have any idea how long he's been trapped in there? Longer than any of us have, or ever will live! No creature deserves that kind of treatment! Helgarr, please let him go!"

She shakes violently as tears pour down her cheeks. Her hands are clenched in fists and her teeth bite into her lip.

Her elven friend has never acted like this even when faced with the bugbear killer she hates. Helgarr, shut it, NOW! she breathes in fear.

Grunyar huffs "Shalelu, what in the devil's gotten into ye?!"

Aggah hasn't let go of Cleo. She too is crying, though less so than Shalelu. "It hurts, Cleo."
