The sheriff takes another deep swig. "I appreciate it, Furnok, but you're doing good. Once Vandra has gotten better, clear out those catacombs and then we can turn our attention to the Goblins. If you ever feel bored come see me. That goes for the rest of your group as well. There's plenty of work to be done."

There is a single guard stationed at the Glassworks. He seems pretty young, but stands to attention at all times. Otherwise, there is no activity around the Glassworks.

Furnok: Today the Sheriff asks you to help with reinforcing the front gates in case of a Goblin invasion. The other workers tend to struggle with the lifting and carrying, but you easily carry the beams and tools without issue. At the end of the day, Sheriff Hemlock pays you a gold and 5 silver.

Cleo: Please make a heal check to determine how well you help Vandra recover. Whenever you visit the Goblin, she is always happy to see you provided that you bring food. She has gotten into the habit of attempting to repeat anything you say. You figure that she is trying to learn Common.

Helgarr: Savah is delighted to hear you offering assistance, and puts you to work right away. Please make a Craft (Weapons) check to determine how well you perform. You can see that she really needs the help, as she's running both shop and forge by herself. In the evening when forging is banned, you travel to the Town Hall to listen to the comings and goings of the town. You discover that the Glassworks has been declared a "no-go" zone, a market has opened up for holy trinkets that protect oneself from evil, and a strange Gnomish puppeteer has started working at the Rusty Dragon. The people seem to be grateful of everything that the party has done for the town, but there is still plenty of fright in their eyes.

Maria: You open the door and delve back into the Catacombs. Please make a stealth check, and a perception check.

Jeaux: You spend your time at Vandra's side, helping to take care of him whenever you can. Please make a heal check.

Vandra: Please make a Fortitude save, and a Will save. Between your mom and Cleo, you are looked after constantly. Hannah's natural treatments seem to help you in calming down the swelling, and the incense she left smells nice. You also have a few visitors. A priest of Sarenrae visits you on Father Zantus' behalf, whom he explains is busy with a logging incident that has hurt 3 people. He casts a spell over you that subdues your symptoms for a couple of hours. In the afternoon, Arika and Aneka come to visit. Aneka only stays for a few minutes, but Arika stays for about an hour to talk to you about adventuring. Finally in the evening, you are visited by none other than Shayliss. She has made chicken noodle soup for you, saying that it's good for the soul.

Helgarr works hard with Savah - she welcomes both the change of pace, and the physical exertion, which reminds the barbarian of her distant home - each time the hammer strikes steel, it brings a smile to the woman's face - "I still have a lot to learn" - she comments during a pause - "But the first thing I will look for is an adequate set of tools".

After the last meeting in the Town Hall, as the barbarian returns to meet with her friends, and check up on Vandra, she has much to think about, realizing one of the things that would bring her most joy at the moment would be to make the fear disappear from the eyes of Sandpoint's inhabitants - she finds comfort in knowing the group is doing their best exactly to attain such objectives.

When Helgarr meets the others, she first inquires with Ameiko about the new attraction at the Rusty Dragon - "A gnomish pupeteer?" - the question comes with a smile.

Cleo will smile and leave Vandra to the care of whatever young woman calls upon him. She will always bring food with her and as soon as she sees that she is trying to learn, she'll do her best to help, as well as pick up as much goblin as she can.

It delights her to no end, so much so when she's not with the goblin she worries what is going on.

The visits were nice for the downed Vandra, who, unwilling to admit it, liked the fact he was so looked after. Then Shayliss showed up. That was...awkward for the young man. His face flush from a mixture of embarrassment, though he tried to play it off as the sickness. Fortunately, the incense help to calm his nerves. As he slowly ate the soup she brought, and it was good soup, he carefully asked about her, how she was doing and how her days had been.

Aware, all the while, of course, of his mother's amusement at this whole scene.

Please don't bring up pregnancy...

Ali spends his time cleaning and cutting some wood, before spending the night drinking and gathering news in the Taverns of the town.

Still on day 1 of Downtime. You can all read these, I'm just putting them in spoilers for space.

Maria:

You scout out as much of the Catacombs as you dare alone. The map has been updated, along with the following information.

Area B6
This large chamber was obviously once a prison, as testified by the twenty cells that line the room's perimeter. A rickety wooden platform overlooks the room, with two flights of stairs descending to the prison floor ten feet below. A five foot wide wooden walkway runs from the northern edge of the platform to a passageway to the east. Inside the prison area, two Sinspawn squabble over a collection of skulls, completely oblivious to Maria.

Would you like to continue along the platform? Or scout somewhere else?

Helgarr:

You work long and hard at the forge and produce a collection of masterwork spears to be used by the new recruits for the Sandpoint garrison. "You're very talented, Helgarr. I can see you becoming an excellent weapon smith in the future. You take pride in your work, and have a fine attention to detail. I can order some high quality smithing tools if you'd like. Hammers, tongs, and the like. I'll sell it to you wholesale too. It'll likely come to 30 sails, if that's okay. 25 for the tools, and 5 for the shipping from Magnimar."

While Helgarr is at the Town Hall, she also learns that most of the fear right now comes from 3 areas. The Catacombs under the Glassworks, the rampaging Goblins, and the recent death of two guards.

At the Rusty Dragon, Ameiko answers "Yes, a really eccentric little guy. He's covered from head to toe and wears a big mummer's hat with a feather. He says his name is Tup and he's an entertainer who only wants food and a warm fire. He seems fine so far, just a little crude. Not a wonderful entertainer in front of little kids."

Cleo:

When you're around Vandra you take very good care of him.

You learn that the Goblin's name is Aggah, and although she is making progress, you find that she is not the brightest of goblins. You also start learning a few Goblin words, such as hello, me, mine, food, and mother. The mother one might concern you, as you're aware it refers to Lamashtu. Whenever you hear Goblin, you'll be able to make a Linguistics check untrained to get a general idea of what the goblin is communicating.

Vandra:

I will reveal the results of your saving throws once the day is concluded, but know that you're on the mend.

The soup was alright, but Vandra can tell that the noodles are a little over cooked. Shayliss is just as embarrassed, and doesn't really know what to say. It is a complete opposite from her usual firebrand self. She sits at the side of Vandra's bed and lets him know about some random gossip around town. Her father is going insane trying to figure out if her older sister is seeing someone pre-marriage (which she tells you, she is. A lumber worker named Harker). She tells him about her interest in travelling and seeing the world. She dislikes the sleepy village of Sandpoint, and wants to travel to Magnimar, Korvosa, Cheliax and all sorts of places. As she is about to leave, Shayliss says "Get better soon, Vandra. I've... been thinking of you."

Ali:

I'm going to treat this as Listening for Rumors, with a hint of Carousing. I hope that's okay with you.

Ali Diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Carousing: 1d100 ⇒ 17
Firewood: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10

Ali and Azeri cut enough wood to save (or sell) 7 silver pieces worth. At the taverns, Ali drinks and talks with the locals while playing the odd game or two. He hears that the Pillbug's apothecary has been doing surprisingly well lately despite the Cathedral, Hannah, and Bottled Solutions taking most of his business. Gorvi the dungsweeper got too touchy with Rynshinn Povalli while he was drunk and now half a dozen men are looking to start a fight with him. A few mercenaries have arrived in Sandpoint looking for hire. And Arika was seen practicing with a sword. She looked absolutely flimsy with it though.

Unfortunately, Ali gets hammered by the end of the night and loses in a foolish gamble. He loses 10 gold pieces.

Once everything is done for the day, we'll go onto the next. So try not to linger in your activities.

As she leaves, and he can't stop his eyes from lingering a bit, he suddenly goes completely red as he remembered the little fact that his mother had been there the entire time. "I'm just gonna...take a nap. Yeah, a nap sounds good."

Helgarr smiles and wipes the sweat from her brow - "Thank you Savah" - she bows shortly - "I am but an apprentice in my tribe, and before your superior knowledge in this art" - the woman replies, the respect for elders and master craftsmen/women clearly evident in her voice - "If you can arrange for the superior quality smithing tools, I will be most grateful" - the barbarian finishes, retrieving the 30 sails from her pouch and placing them on Savah's counter.

At the Rusty Dragon, she stares inquisitively at Ameiko - "Crude? How so? In language or attitude?"

Savah thanks Helgarr again for the good work, and assures her that the smithing tools will arrive in about a week's time. She is very pleased with Helgarr.

Ameiko responds about Tup "Well he is a bit arrogant, but I mean that he swears. I don't mind him around folk during the evening, past the dinner rush. It's before that in front of the children that I dislike. I expected him to put up a fuss when I asked him to only do evening performances, but he agreed without hesitation. I just haven't figured him out. He's performing right now you know, so you could meet him if you like."

Maria:

Maria spies no traps, but this time... an ambush.

Water ripples quietly in this circular stone pool, the rim of which is lined with skulls. At the back of the room, a fiendish head rushes to life. It's ears grow to the size of wings, and Maria can see it's fanged teeth and tentacles draping from it's chin.

Maria is able to react first. What would you like to do?

Furnok has just returned from work, but Helgarr doesn't notice any other of her companions. Right next to the fireplace, this strange Gnome wears a giant mummer's hat, at least 3 scarves, an oversized kilt with what look to be 3 rat tails attached to the purse, mismatched gloves, and cleats. In one hand he has a puppet of a noble man with a white judge's wig, who carries a butcher's knife and a string of sausages. The other hand holds the puppet of a hellhound. It looks like the noble man is trying to convince the hellhound not to eat him, through flattery and bribing with sausages. Despite it being a bit dark, Tup clearly presents this as a comedy, and several people have been laughing at the theatrics.

Helgarr joins Furnok at a table, a mug of ale in each hand - "This round is on me. How has it been going with the sheriff, Furnok?" - she comments, taking in the gnome performance out of the corner of her eye - "And why is that amusing?" - the barbarian inquires.

Maria, you've heard stories of such creatures lurking deep in mines and sewers from Absalom. Mere myths of the Vargouille, and the Vargouille's kiss. It is said that the Vargouille lies in wait of unsuspecting children and paralyses them on sight, then it gives them a kiss. Those who have been kissed soon die, and become Vargouille themselves as well.

They are unable to open doors.

Maria runs out of the passages back to the surface. She turns to the guards. By the goddesses' freshly f#+@ed a###~@@s. Be careful, we are definitely not done down there. Maria crosses the town intent on informing the rest.

Cleo evening is spent in the jail, regaling Aggah with tales from her family, and sharing a little bread, meat, and cheese.

The Old woman shook her head and sighed, bending down to cover the boy with his cloak.

She straightened up and smiled fondly before giving Ali a sharp kick in the ribs.

"Call me that again ya toerag and I'll have yer guts for garters."
