Those be them Thistletop goblins, livin over in Nettlewood. Can't say I know much bout any human cults, though if'n you ask me, those Sczarni should count."

I do have plans to bring this cult into the story, Vandra, so don't get too discouraged!

As you enter the Rusty Dragon Inn, you can see that Ameiko is working hard for lunch time. When she sees the two of you looking at her, she smiles happily and speaks a few arcane words. After a snap of her fingers, the air around her swirls slightly to form a humanoid shape. It picks up her knife and continues chopping from where she left off.

Freed from her task, she walks over to you and says "Hey guys, can I help you with anything?"

Vandra and Jeaux:

"Hmm well I can teach ya some of the basics. If'n you want to know everything, you'd best speak to Grunyar the Dwarf, or Shalelu the Elf. Both of those folk interact with the goblins on a regular basis."

"Well, here's the story. There's 5 Goblin tribes round Sandpoint. Used to be 6, with the Bonegrinder tribe, but your mom and I handled that quite a few years ago. I'll start from the weakest."

"The weakest are the Birdcruncher tribe. These goblins got huge ears and can climb sheer cliffs. They're a mottled gray color, not to be mixed up with the Seven Tooth. They live on the Devil's Platter and its surrounding mountains. Damn hard to get to, but they're a very small tribe."

"4th weakest are the Licktoad tribe. Yeah I know, lick toad, great name. Anyways they're blue skins and have webbed hands and feet. They live in the Brinestump Marsh to the South West between us and Magnimar. Probably swim more than they walk. Careful in there, though, some say that they use magic."

"3rd weakest are the Seven Tooth tribe. They're the ones grabbing our trash at Junker's Edge. Not much about them that really stands out, apart from the dark purple skin. Ever walked the Lost Coast Road past Shank's Wood during the night? Ye can hear the sound of a forge in there. They be making something."

"2nd strongest are the Mosswood tribe. They be your normal greenskins. They also got huge heads and sharp teeth for biting. Really dumb buggers, but they got massive numbers. They live in the Mosswood, a dangerous place for anyone to be travelling."

"And the strongest of the bunch are the Thistletop tribe. These ones are a mix of bright red and green. Unlike the others, these goblins worship Lamashtu, the demon goddess of monsters and such. They're religious folk, in the murder-everything-and-sacrifice-it sense. You'll find them in the Nettlewood and past that on an island connected by bridge. Very dangerous goblins, they have almost the numbers of the Mosswood goblins, but these ones are smart and use demon magic for their bidding. Be very careful when facing Thistletop goblins."

"Purple skin.... big heads with sharp teeth...." could be heard mumbled out of his mouth as he concentrates. "Thank you so much, Mr. Hosk!" Vandra exclaims. "I'm sure this will come in handy! If I had the choice, I'd hire someone to take care of the stables while I was out there in the wild, hunting the Goblins. But now my leg won't run with me, I've used it too much in my youth. So, what you can do for me is hunt down the blasted goblins so that raid doesn't happen again. I'll pay ya more than anyone else for each pair of goblin ears, more gold for more powerful tribes. When Cleo mentions the local mill, Ameiko's smile diminishes. "The mill, huh? I know a few things, what do you need?"

Quick note: It's only noon, so feel free to keep doing things if you'd like. Otherwise you can craft, do 8 hours worth of a profession, catch up on some sleep, chat with both PCs and NPCs, visit a place in Sandpoint, among many other things. Heck, you could even travel out to face some goblins! Not the best idea, but just putting it out there.

Second note: You may be wondering when you level up. Fret not! Normally I go with the story recommendations of the book, but I also take into consideration side adventures, extra encounters, diplomacy, among other things. You guys are close!

"Well, since we'll probably be fighting goblins anyway, I don't see a problem with making a little gold from it," Vandra says, shrugging his shoulders and looking over at his mother-in-wallaby. "And I don't think Mom has a problem with it either, so you have yourself a deal, Mr. Hosk!" Vandra shakes Hosk's hand to seal the deal before heading off. "Thanks for the info and deal! Now lets go find the others to let them know about the bounty and see what everybody's been up to!" With that, Vandra and Jeaux head off to find the rest of their companions.

Never really been in a campaign that had downtime like this, or little side missions, so I'm not really sure what to do with my time lol Any good suggestions for Vandra and Jeaux?

Not everything has to be statistically beneficial. You could easily say that you spend the next couple of hours practicing your magic (which will help justify the new spells you'll get next level), or practicing skills/martial training. You could also go to the many libraries of Sandpoint to research more about Goblins, Sandpoint's History, Thassilonian ruins, etc. There's a lot of lore in this adventure path, and knowledge can really be key. I would also recommend that you eventually group up with the others to share what you've learned along with the bounty deal you managed to get. I hope that was a fair deal compared to the warhorse. Hard to image Jeaux on a horse.

Vandra was on his way back to the inn for lunch and to see if he could find the rest of his comrades, when his leg suddenly started itching terribly. "Right, forgot about that. Where is that apothecary..." Vandra said, scratching his leg and looking around.

Jeaux grabbed his attention by taking hold of his sleeve and pointing to a nearby building. "Right, the general store should have some kind of cream for itching! And away we go!" With that, Vandra hurriedly entered the store.

I can't remember if there is an apothecary or not, but if there's patches of poison ivy around, then the general store should carry cream for itching. How much would that cost?

Could I get a bluff check from Maria AND Cleo, please? Cleo's DC is going to be much lower, but Ameiko can still get cues off of her.

Vandra enters the General Store in search of itching cream. Inside, Ven Vinder offers Vandra some actual cream, which he says will make the rash feel better. As Vandra shows Ven the rash, he notices that it has formed blisters along his leg. It also seems to be spreading.

"Oh well that's looking pretty mean doesn't it. Hmm well you've got a few options at least. You can visit the cathedral for magical removal, although that tends to be fairly expensive. You could visit Hannah the herbalist, who'll probably know a thing or two about poison ivy. You could buy a potion from Bottled Solutions. Or you can take the cream (on the house) and just wait for it to stop."

During this discussion, Vandra notices out of the corner of his eye a fair red haired maiden who seems to be enjoying the scene. She makes eye contact with you for a second, before going downstairs into the basement.

Sad thing is, in real life I'm deathly allergic to poison ivy, so a rash like this would have already spread over my entire body and more than likely entered my esophagus. As has happened before.

Also, I read a little of Book 1 before I got accepted, so I know who it is, and I really want to go through this for the RP lolz.

Vandra frowned worriedly as he gazed upon the spreading rash on his leg. "Thank you for the cream, Mr. Vinder," Vandra says, looking the bottle over and sniffing at the contents. He wrinkles his nose at the antiseptic smell before placing it in his pocket and handing over 5 silver in exchange. "I don't really feel right just taking it, though I appreciate the thought. By the way, I thought I saw a red-headed woman just a minute ago. Do you happen to know who that was?" Vandra scratched idly at his leg as his thoughts kept going back to that woman. 'She sure was awfully pretty,' he thought to himself.

Oh, trust, if this was irl poison ivy, I'd probably be in the hospital by now. And the stuff you have to drink to keep from getting it really REALLY sucks.

"Er, no reason," Vandra says in a rush, rubbing the back of his head nervously. "Just wondering is all. Anyway, thank you for the cream. Gotta go find the rest of my friends now and see what all they've been up to and stuff. Talk to you later!" And with that, Vandra rushes off, trying to keep the heat from his face. 'Of course that would be his daughter, why else would she go down to the basement!' he thinks to himself.

Jeaux, meanwhile, is left in his metaphorical dust as he rushes off with his medicine. She looks after his retreating form with a quizzical look on her face before shrugging at the shopkeeper and hopping off after him. She was going to get to the bottom of this if it was the last thing she did! Her mother-senses were tingling!

Just to clarify, Ameiko runs the inn, right? If so, then this post will make more sense.

Vandra walked into the inn, after successfully keeping his cheeks from being in an unmanly blush. He had his reputation to start, after all! Looking around, he spotted the halfling and the young girl, Cleo and Maria if he remembered correctly, and waved towards them before heading to his room to apply the cream. He could sense his mother-in-wallaby gazing at him curiously, but he fought to keep his emotions from her.

After completing his medical emergency, Vandra headed back downstairs and sat at the table the others were at, smiling at the innkeeper. 'Seriously, what is it with all the pretty women in Sandpoint?' he thought to himself. Mentally shaking his head, he greeted the ladies and asked, "So, what are you all up to? Plotting world domination?

Maria smirks. Must bug them something awful that you're doing commoner's work. And better than many other inn keepers I've met. Maria nods in approval of the slight against Ameiko's own family. She then turns to Vandra and says in the most serious and realistic way she can. If we were and we told you I'd have to kill you. bluff: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28 I think I just made Vandra crap himself.

That's correct. Ameiko owns the Inn, and hires the Corwin halfling family to work there. Though she also works her butt off there as well. Also, Jeaux counts as a magical beast with an intelligence of 6 and the ability to understand all of Vandra's languages. Cleo MIGHT have just stuck the other foot in :)
