DC24 save! 7th Level Spell!
Quickest TPK on the boards, or can we take down a few level 13+ characters who have got the drop on us?
This sequence with Morag and the Sorcerer is actually the one event I don't really like, and I keep rewriting it (I've got 2 live groups going through this campaign).
It's to rigged against the party, feels very rail roady, and is the stereotypical, "I'm a big bad tough guy and could totally squash you, but today... I'm going to let you live."

It appears most of the party wants to head back to Gumlat to either check out Grays farm or hang out at the church of Erastil. (though several mentioned going to a temple, but that would involve going to Coran instead).
Does the group want to elect/nominate someone to give a final decision on this (and future decisions)?
Regardless if you could also establish a general marching order and sleep watch order. 2-3 abreast for marching is fine for most areas in the campaign. I'll assume these marching orders and watch orders for all situations until told otherwise.

In character I know my Pally would inside on making the final decision. OOC I don't really care.
I would plan to be in front for marching order since I don't have a range attack. For sleep watch order, I don't have a preference in when I watch, but perhaps, Match me up with someone who doesn't have to be in melee range.

Alma, that doesn't seem especially noble or humble? Is a paladin really going to insist on his own judgement being superior like that?
I'm just thinking about noble embodiments of virtue and I have a hard time imagining Galahad being so demanding. I mean... a metaphor about gambling gets Mala pinging your paladin radar? I'm not sure how we'll get through a full week together as a group.

I have always viewed Paladin's as being a bit self righteous. Which is why I decided to play one this time, as I haven't done so before. Normally, i'm drawn into the role of being a big conniving self centered.
My character thinks that all others should strive to be completely pure as he does, despite the obvious flaws in such an actual goal.
Personally, I think the little bit of drama caused by his self righteousness will end up being fun to roleplay out.
I view him as one of those friends, that can be annoying to hang around at times, but when you really need him, your glad he is there because he will do everything to he can to protect each person.

Alma, just let me know if this is all coming in too hot. I'm not actually interested in corrupting your character. So far, Alma has hung upside down and clubbed unconscious a helpless prisoner, and slain another helpless foe. Irina just has to rub these in his face a bit to start planting that seed of doubt, and try to cultivate some patterns of behavior in Alma.
In my mind, the paladin from Irina's story was two steps from falling herself, if she even was a true paladin of the Mithral Rose, though all those details are in the GM's hands.
Alma |
You are fine Irina. The challenge for me is to try to have good justification on his actions that still fall within line of how I view Paladins (which may differ then how others do).
For example, killing the werewolf with a coup de gras, while it was helpless, I felt that a Paladin would do this because the foe wanted him dead. Or knocking a prisoner out, who I felt wronged us (and specifically my character for leading him to danger.)
The trick for me is to be consistent, instead of going with my normal play style, which is kill everything because I can :)
Or if all else fails, perhaps I can become an Anti-Paladin :)

Although the law aspect of paladin is sometimes played as second to the good part, it's really pretty important. I don't think of a paladin as the kind of guy who would give any slack to a poor man who stole to feed his family, likewise they aren't necessarily merciful towards enemies, and certainly not towards creatures they see as abominations.
Everyone does the code of conduct thing differently, but for my part I haven't noticed Alma to be particularly non-paladiny in any way.
Of course, paladins falling is awesome, so go with whatever happens :D
Irina Moretskya |
Oh, I don't think he's done anything fall-worthy at this point, but they are more greyish areas of morality as opposed to the virtuous, only facing a foe in fair and honourable combat. I've played three paladins in my time, and two of them had a thing for the ladies (the other was a lady).
It's all about Irina's warped view of paladins because of her history. She sees them as obnoxious sanctimonious hypocrites who can't keep their noses out of other people's affairs, and only follow their vaunted codes of conduct when it suits them, so anything she sees that's "real" and less than "ideally virtuous" behaviour, she's going to pounce on.
Alma |
Truth be told, after reading your background Irina, that is what convinced me I should play a Pally. Because of the potential back and forth roleplay that would potentially come up. I have tried to be a little obnoxious sanctimonious SOB.. with out being too annoying. Just because its fun :)
Though, when I fall, i'm taking you all with me.. And then we will make tower take us through a campaign as evil characters ;)
On a unrelated note, how much money have we gotten, it appears I didn't change my stat block with that info.
Malaswyn Tyddewi |
The chances of Mala turning evil are very slim: one hundred years of loyal devotion to virtue rewarded by divine grace; utterly committed to Sarenrae and without the brittle rigidity of paldinhood.

"This box for two doses. This box should fetch somewhere around 1500gp."
That other 500 is coming out of your pay.
I'm just kidding there, but we should probably be more conscientious in the future. 500 gold is a little bit too much extra pay for waking someone up in the middle of the night.
Cedric Valentine |
I agree with Markov, finding a full-price buyer for a fancy box in a town like this is probably better left to the herbalist :P Unless we went around waking up the town to sell things I don't see how we would have been able to buy anything anyways. Some adventurers put their friends above their gold!
Alma |
That was my mistake entirely: I usually play campaigns where we don't bother with selling things and our GM just tells us how much gold we get from what we sell, and so I'm not used to the half-price rules. My apologies to Markov for what probably came off as rude.
And your not even a Paladin... odd :)
