Hmmm. Retrieving scrolls from a case is a move action...bad on me. As for the ward, it is a 10' radius centered on me. The book doesn't show an example 10' radius centered on a player but on a corner...so you could adjudicate that it covers two squares out from me, as a 10' circle drawn from the center of the square would bisect a square two away. Or you could adjudicate that it works exactly the way that you have depicted it so far. Personally, I would love for the ward to be one square bigger.

As Raith rushes up, potion vial in hand, Garand takes it from him and administers it to Izumi, leaning down with his shield raised over his head, in case the creature lunges forward to attempt to strike him.

If that's an allowable action, not sure if he has to enter Izumi's space and provoke an AoO to do that, but he's attempting to keep his guard up, if possible.

possible healing 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
j'suck

Bear-spirit wishes to attack this new threat, but does not trust the look/smell/feel of this 'grease' area, and so attempts to jump it!

10 ft. jump, DC 10 Acrobatics, counts as a move action, so he'll be able to take a single bite attack, if he makes it. Quite likely, he provokes an AoO as well, since he'll be passing through two threatened spaces to get to his landing space in CD/4.5

Acrobatics DC 10 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
je uber-suck, he doesn't clear the grease, so Ref save will follow

possible bite attack on T, if he clears the grease and doesn't get AoO'd into bear-flavored-chutney, +2 for flanking T with Pavel 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

bear-spirits Reflex save vs. grease, bear-spirits flat-footed AC will be 12 vs. an AoO 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

Raith puts up no resistance to Garand taking the potion vial.

Round 5 - The Companions
Izumi clatters to the ground, unconscious from the wounds he has suffered, but in no immediate danger of dying from his injuries.

"MOUTHY BASTARD!", Pavel then roars as he swings his morningstar- though he wisely keeps most of his body behind the shield. His swing misses the mark but he keeps his defenses up.

Without a moment's hesitation Sorin snaps off a shot at the monstrosity but the odds are set against him. Inwardly cursing at the misfortune of the shot, he moves forward, to bring his companions further into the area of his ward. "I am going to hit it with a flare as soon as I can!"

Raith rushes up. He pulls a small stoppered vial from his belt pouch.

As Raith rushes up, potion vial in hand, Garand takes it from him and administers it to Izumi, leaning down with his shield raised over his head, in case the creature lunges forward to attempt to strike him. (+5 hp to Izumi, prone and having dropped his weapon (new ‘on the fly’ house rule: potions and wands of healing do at least half their dice, or else why spend so much money?)

As the companions rally around their fallen comrade, Bear-spirit wishes to attack this new threat, but does not trust the look/smell/feel of this 'grease' area, and so attempts to jump it! The undead warrior takes a shot at the bear as he moves in the air with its curved blade, letting the druid administer the potion (This would draw an AoO to the pourer, but Tsutamu perfers to get a shot at the bear, letting you bring back Izumi).

Secret Rolls:

4:1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10; 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Fortunately, the blade slices only air, as the bear misses his jump and lands in the grease. It manages to stay on its paws and even takes a slash at the warrior. The claw hits but fails to damage the bones.

Round 5 - Tsutamu
Tsutamu, even angrier now, yells at the fallen Izumi lying at his feet: ”Baka! Anata wa watashi ni chōsen shi, sugu ni ochiru. Dono yō ni anata jishin ni senshi to Kaijutsu no purotekutā o yobidasu koto ga dekimasu? Anata wa watashi ga byōkininaru! Sutando appu to tekisetsu ni shinu!”

Tien:
”Fool! You challenge me and fall right away. How can you call yourself a warrior and a protector of the Kaijutsu? You make me sick! Stand up and die properly!”

He takes a step back and brings his wakizachi in a wakigamai stance, hilt at his hip, blade invisible behind him, weight forward. He is obviously letting Izumi stand back up but is ready to strike at any incoming foe.

Secret Rolls (Readied attack, whoever strikes first can look at it after posting to resolve):

T:1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11; 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 Challenge +2 damage if Izumi

Pavel hangs back a moment, fighting the white-hot hatred burning in his stomach, fighting the urge to smash the pile of bones to pieces. It was time to start fighting a little smarter, or else it would be him on the floor, too. The big ranger pulls his last flask from his belt pouch and downs it, standing ready to step in once Izumi gets to his feet again.

CLW potion: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
5 hp it is, back to 11 so I'll go more aggressive next round.

Male AC 17/To11/FF16, HP: 30/37 Human (Varisian/Tian mix) Cavalier 4

Izumi's eyes snap open as he once again feels the life energy flow into him, closing his wounds. He says groggily as he stands, pulling another potion from his satchel as he does: "Once again Garand, I am indebted to you." Izumi quaffs the potions hastily then calls out in Tien: "Mottomo kyōryokuna senshi wa ichigeki de taosa reru koto ga dekiru. Watashi wa saigo no Kaijutsu no shugo s%&%e iruto watashi wa anata ni sore o shōmei suru."

Even the most powerful warrior can be felled by a single blow. I AM a protector of the last Kaijutsu's and I will prove it to you."

Shield and hammer still on the ground, challenge issued. This activates the Ronin Order special ability: +1 attack and AC vs. Tsutamu.

I hope this works...

Sorin removes a scoll from his scroll case. He quickly unfurls the parchment and begins chanting off the runes. Drips of silver incandescence fall from the bottom of the scroll for a few seconds as the words tumble from Sorin. Suddenly the entire sheet vaporizes into a whistling white streak of light that shoots from Sorin's hands and flies to a point behind the threatening warrior where it pops, forming a dazzling globe of silver light.

Flare Burst scroll, DC:14/Fortitude Negates, targeted on C/5 corner, 10ft radius burst, so it should get the warrior.

Bear spirit attempts to leave the slippery area, and move to engage the samurai again.

Reflex save 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
bear-spirit moves to CD/5 and bites 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
bite damage 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Garand hurls his club, hoping to score a hit before the warrior is engaged again, and becomes an impossible target.

thrown club, -2 for range 1d20 ⇒ 8
damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Frustrated at the club's lack of accuracy, Garand then readies his shortbow.

Round 6 - The Companions
The companions regroup and prepare for the final combat, Izumi and Raith shouting in Tien at the undead, when Sorin uses a scroll to cause a flare to burst while Bear-spirit and Garand take the initiative and attack.

Secret Rolls:

T:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

The attacks are easily dodged and the flare doesn’t seem to phase out the undying warrior.

Round 6 - Tsutamu
Tsutamu curses at the attempts and roars: ”Jūbun ni! Okubyōmono to usotsuki! Watashi wa Kaijutsu no ichizoku no yuiitsu no shin no purotekutādesu. Ima sugu no buki o hirou to shinu!”

Tien:
”Enough! Cowards and liars! I am the only true protector of the Kaijutsu clan. Now pick up your weapon and die!”

He then slips his blade sideways and stabs at Bear-spirit, hoping to clear his flank.
Secret Rolls:

T:1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28; 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 Challenge +2 damage if Izumi
confirm:1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12; 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

The blade slips in the bear’s throat, almost sectioning its spine. Blood spills at a dramatic pace as Garand’s companion is severely injured. (-11 hp to Bear-spirit)

I noticed the wakigamai link, but not the Tsutamu one. Neat! Thanks for the 'half-damage from potions' rule, I was rolling my eyes at rolling 1d8+1 and failing to get the 3 hp needed to bring Izumi to consciousness!

Those pics were cool. The imagery gave me a clear picture of what our enemy looked like and how he was standing.

AC 21 (20)/T 13/FF 17; CMD 24, HP 76/76

Pavel wades into the water, giving the skeleton a wide berth until he can get into position across from Raith- sandwiching the undead between them.
Moving thirty feet through the water- I'm hoping it's not difficult terrain so I can just slip around to C6 without drawing an AoO but if I can't get all the way there, I'll step in as close as I can. Flanking factored in separately.

And he lashes out with his morningstar!
Morningstar w/favored enemy and flanking: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 6 + 2 = 281d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

I have the Jade Regent so I've seen the pic before, but that stance pic was awesome.

Izumi bends down and picks up the warhammer with both hands, then spins as he steps into his blow. No matter if the blow hits or misses, Izumi will bring it back into a defensive position.

Holding the hammer in both hands now, shield still on the ground. Combat Expertise: AC 20 vs Tsutamu, 5ft step to D/5.5. Possible flank from Pavel is factored seperately. Warhammer (2hands): 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 2 = 10 (1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9)
