Tomb of the Emperor Gods -- PbP
Game Master
Tarren Dei
This PbP started with Entombed with the Pharaohs and continues with The Pact Stone Pyramid. Many of the characters travelled to Osirion after completing a PbP based on River into Darkness.
Yes, but it is only 5 feet from the hallway to where the bodies lie so it doesn't even count as a move. Besides, I took it easy on you. He had three more attacks he could have used. ;-)
Knowing his dwarven friend will soon be launching himself into battle, Korian summons a canine from the pits of hell as an ally for him to flank the girallon with.
[spoiler="Ixius"]The message is in Osirion, which you don't read to begin with. The girallon is moving too much for you to see if the runes look familiar.[/ooc]
Ah, I see. Don't worry about her too much, she is a very resourceful girl :) but appreciated all the same as I know you said this place is going to be very deadly. Just didn't understand the situation and positioning very well at the beginning. It's all clear now.
The runes read "Curse-the; curse-yours; end-yours" translated into Common would mean: "I am the curse; I am your curse; I am your end." There are no encircled runes here.
Ovirid will move toward the girallon, averting his eyes from the runes. Not sure what the distance is, but my first goal is to 'plug' the tunnel so the creature can't get past to the others.
Okay, so, Sykala has ducked down into the floor. The Girallon was going to drag his food back into the room and have a snack but now there's a hellhound blocking his path so he can't do that. I guess that means Ovirid's his prey.
The girallon drops his snack and charges forward to Ovirid, snapping his jaws but in his anger he chomps down too soon -- close enough that Ovirid can smell the flesh stuck between his teeth but not close enough to count.
Eep!
Sykala immediately dives back into the stone moving as far back behind the party as she can before resurfacing.
She will resurface this round after moving. Not sure how thick the bridge is as to whether she can move through it. If she can than great, if not then thats where she will resurface.
Calling on his connection with the magical energies of conjuration, Korian puts forth his hand and shoots a dart of smoking acid at the large beast, but the chaotic dance of combat causes him to miss wildly.
Ranged Touch attack into melee: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Did the Hell Hound's attack not count last round? Either way, here's round 2
The hell hound steps forward and clamps it's flaming jaws on the furry leg of it's prey
Hell Hound bite: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29 (flank & bless)
Bite & Fire Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 3 + (5) = 10

Did the Hell Hound's attack not count last round? Either way, here's round 2
Am I forgetting one of Korian's feats?

A spell that takes 1 round to cast is a full-round action. It comes into effect just before the beginning of your turn in the round after you began casting the spell. You then act normally after the spell is completed.
So, since this spell has a casting time of 1 round, you began to cast it. It appears immediately after you have finished casting and attacks on your turn. That's this round.
So, Ovirid, your attack rolls after adjustments are 18 and 20?
The hell hound, Ovirid, and Ixius attack the white-furred ape. It roars and attacks Ovirid again. I'm sure it will be to everyone's frustration that the beast's four claws and bite all manage to miss the dwarfy little dwarf.
Every time I try to kill one of you, the dice are not in my favour!!

Nope, no special feats. I had always been a bit confused I guess by the wording of the spell here " It appears where you designate and acts immediately, on your turn." which to me sounds like right after the spell is cast, on your turn. But that's my first time seeing the quote you gave and it spells it out pretty clearly. So no worries, we just ignore that first attack.
Ovirid's attacks were already taking into account the modifiers I listed. I included them so you would know what I was doing (other than just a basic attack) and so you would know if I took something into account or not. My normal attack with the throwing axe is +9/+4. Sorry for the confusion.
In other words, he hit AC 19 for 21 points of damage and AC 21 for 13 points of damage.
The voice echoes in everyone's heads. In yours it feels like a long nail has been gently scratched across the surface of your brain. You feel the claw stab deeper just above your left ear. A Will save is not necessary.
Resurfacing from the stone several feet behind Ovirid, the little sandstone statue that is Sykala raises it's small outstretched hand as sparks of lightning crackle between her fingertips just before releasing a bolt of electricity at the raging beast.
Barely holding back a chuckle despite the deathly serious situation, never tiring of his old game of teasing the old dwarf Korian replies "I said I hope so!"
The girallon falls with this last set of attacks. It's body barely touches the floor before it begins to dissolve into wisps of glowing mist. The runes on its body form in the air and then fall to the stone floor, where they remain bright and glowing as if carved there. Ovirid stands just before them.
Sykala stomps her little stone foot loudly to get everyone's attention now that the chaos of battle has died away. She moves over and pulls Korian's keffiyah off his head until he relinquishes it and proceeds to wrap herself up in it. She points to the room up ahead and then stretches her arms straight out in front of her with her hands hanging limply and mindlessly shambles back and forth in front of everyone...
Korian avoids looking directly at the glowing runes if possible and speaks to the hellhoud in it's native language, commanding it to do as Ovirid asks.
When Sykala begins messing with his keffiyah, finally letting her have it. He watches her antics for a few moments, and the suddenly asks "is it a mummy Sykala, is that what you're talking about?"[B]
With a bemused smile Korian accepts the ball of cloth and begins rewrapping his head the traditional style of the desert tribe he grew up with. As he wraps he speaks. "Well those runes don't seem to be the same as the ones in the other pyramid, no circles at least. They say "I am the curse; I am your curse; I am your end." Which makes little sense to me. As well that infernal voice has said "27" now. I feel quite sure we don't want to be here once it reaches 1 or 0"
Pausing for a moment, Korian tries toi calculate how long that might be, based on how often the numbers repeat. He's also considering whether the interval is consistant.
Once finished he says "Well, what say we go say hello to Sykala's mummy" chuckling slighty to himself at his own poor joke.
If nothing happened to the hellhound when it walked into the runes, and if there are no protests from his companions, Korian barks a command to have it move into the mummy room and head right up to the figure.
You cannot see the figure Sykala describes from where you stand. You can command the hell hound to move there, but you will not be able to see what happens without passing over the runes.
Oh! I did not understand that. So there is no way (for most of us anyway) to continue down the hallway without passing through the runes? Can't be jumped over or anything like that? And so what happened when the hellhound passed through them?
You can walk around the runes. The hellhound was on the far side of them, but you commanded it to walk over them and nothing happened to it. (It would have had to walk over them twice now, even -- once coming to you and once heading back to the room.) It's up to you.
Korian carefully moves around the runes, without touching or passing over them, and stops at the entrance to the mummy room, watching as the hellhound approaches the figure. He also carefully checks out everything else in the room.
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15(+1 for traps)
