Ovirid continues to move stealthily as possible, up to the opening in the wall, to peer in.

Stealth 1d20 + 12

Ovirid:

Spoiler:
Ovirid sees what Sykala sees but he also sees Sykala's face peering out to the stone wall to the north. He notices that both walls (south and north) are honeycombed with tiny alcoves.

(Fighter (Shield) 3 / Rogue 4)

Tarren:

Spoiler:
Would Ovirid have a suspicion about who might be entombed in such a chamber? Are the alcoves large enough for a body to be laid to rest (i.e., could a mummy be waiting to step out) or are they smaller, possibly storage places for funerary(sp?) offerings?

Knowledge (history) 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25 Another +6 for history regarding the pharoahs

Also, can he identify any of the members of the Expeditionary? The leader? The mage? Hired muscle? Wanting to know who's where before all hell breaks loose...

Ovirid will hold up a hand behind him to tell those following to hold their positions.

(Male Human Rogue 1/ Wizard 6)

Korian holds up and commands the Archon to diminish it's light to as low as possible (single candle). As he glances at the small celestial he considers how best to utilize it before his spell runs out.

Tarren:

Spoiler:
Sykala pulls her face a foot back into the wall and begins praying to Gozreh.

She will cast Summon Nature's Ally III. Putting her face back out of the wall just as she finishes it. She'll summon a crocodile next to Esteban. Placing it so it can tail lash someone else.

Descriptions of Her Majestrix's Expeditionary

The Paracount: Snobbish looking, tall, wears a cape. Carries a quarterstaff; wears leather armor. Obviously in command.

Lonicera/Neferet: Lithe seductress; carries a scroll case; wands and vials dangle from a gold chain belt; doesn't wear much.

Name Unknown: Large half-orc; wears a chain shirt; carries scimitar; looks dangerous; used to have a crossbow and is kind of pissed at Sykala because now he doesn't.

Name Unknown: Skinny, weird-looking guy; carries the twisted remnants of some kind of long-barreled device you are not familiar with; he's also kind of pissed at Sykala.

Esteban: Leather-armored rogue; formerly captain of The River Queen until Sykala sunk it; hence, also pissed at Sykala.

Ovirid:

Spoiler:
By the light reflecting off every surface of this chamber, you are pretty sure that this belongs to Ankana, The Radiant Pharoah who claimed to be the daughter of the sun and mother of the stars.

Sykala, As the spell has a verbal component, they begin the round aware of you and are not surprised by your pet. Roll for initiative. Beat 12 to act before the first member of the other party.

(Fighter (Shield) 3 / Rogue 4)

Ovirid, hearing Sykala's casting begin, signals back to the rest of the party to move forward, but quietly.

Tarren:

Spoiler:
Position-wise, is he within striking distance of any of the expeditionary? Initiative 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 Uh-oh, nope.
Sykala's long list of friends made me laugh. I see Esteban has begun to suspect her role in the sinking of his boat.

(Male Human Rogue 1/ Wizard 6)

Eager to finally confront his foes, Korian rushes ahead, though still attempting to remain as stealthy as possible: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17

Once there upon hearing the confrontation he orders the Archon ahead to aid Sykala and attack any enemies. At the same time he casts a spell.
Initiative:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

If he can see the Paracount and his gang, Korian will cast depending on what's possible, in this order: Slow DC18 on as many as can-up to 5 and if in range. If not then Web DC17, being careful not to include Sykala or her summoned creature. If he can't see them then he'll cast Invisibility on Ovirid. PS If you need to roll attacks for the Lantern Archon please go ahead Terran

(Male Human (Taldan/Osirioni) Rogue 3/Sorcerer 4)

Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Ixius moves with Korian and casts magic weapon on his bow.

Sykala wrote:

This is the second time she has warped his wood. The first time left him puzzled. This time she didn't try to hide her role. Esteban's not stupid and he's been wondering how that boat got trashed.

Ovirid can move into the room and attack. It's not a very big room.

The archon glides around the corner and aims two rays of light at the paracount. The paracount is quick enough to avoid the seering rays.

Korian casts a spell to slow the other party down.

Most of them failed their saves. That's a lot of slowpokes! Ovirid can attack first.

Round 1:
Korian & Lantern Archon -- ACTED
Ovirid
Paracount
Esteban
Ixius
Skinny Guy
Neferet
Sykala & Pet

Ovirid moves in and strikes at the back of the party (preferring the "weird guy" over the half-orc and the half-orc over the rest, if he has a choice - he won't move past someone to strike at a different target)

Melee Attack 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25 with throwing axe using Power Attack
Damage 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Sneak Attack (if applicable on flat-footed foe) 2d6 ⇒ (5, 2) = 7

(Male Human Rogue 1/ Wizard 6)

Can the rest of us see what Sykala and Ovirid have seen yet?

Korian Allande wrote:

Anyone who rushes around the corner gets to see the other party and the room, so you can look at the spoilers above. I don't know how you guys feel about this, but I generally figure all the players looks under each others' spoilers, they just just don't tell their characters what they saw there until the time is right.

(Male Human (Taldan/Osirioni) Rogue 3/Sorcerer 4)

Assuming Ixius' previously posted actions were for last round...

Ixius moves into line of sight of the enemies.

"Esteban!" he yells and shoots at him.

Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

+1 if within 30 feet.

Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Ovirid cuts a deep gash in the wrist of the weird, skinny guy.

The Paracount disappears with a grin while Esteban's rapier slices deeply into the crocodile beside him. "Sykala," he says to the crocodile, "I really hope that's you in there."

Ixius' arrow misses Esteban.

The skinny guy flees deeper into the chamber, trying to get behind the half-orc.

Neferet places her hands on her hips and boldly shouts, "Gentlemen! Please!!"

Sykala's turn.

With a feral grin the stony form of the druidess seems to swim up and across the wall before unleashing lightning from an outstretched hand, "I here Es-te-ban."

Lightning touch attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Augmented Crocodile bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Tail slap: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Damage: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Ewww, terrible rolls

(Male Human Rogue 1/ Wizard 6)

I'll have Korian go now as I assume the half orc's turn won't affect Korian too much, yes? Also Tarren, can we tell who's Slowed? Or maybe easier who's Not slowed?

Losing sight of the Paracount, the Lantern Archon(Augmented, so stats in []) fires it's two beams at the biggest foe it can see, the half-orc.
Ranged Touch Light Rays:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

1d6 ⇒ 1

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16

1d6 ⇒ 5

Also Tarren, sorry didn't mention it earlier but from last round all the enemies should also make a save vs the Lantern's Aura of Menace-DC12 Will Save. Those that fail take take a –2 penalty on attacks, AC, and saves for 24 hours or until they successfully hit the archon that generated the aura (not sure if Hitting them takes into account their bad-ass DR or not ; ) And don't know if that would have meant a hit on the Paracount?

Meanwhile Korian, his keen intellect analyzing the best tactical options in an instant, makes his rapid preparations and casts Web, aiming the spell to try and catch the invisible Paracount and the foes further back, while avoiding all of his allies. hard to place without a map, but please just use your best judgment for what Korian would do DM, priority being not hitting any of his companions with the spell. Finally, seems you forgot Asim in the Init order, maybe you can DMPC him for now? Sorry for the long post all! : P

Sykala & her pet misses Esteban.

The large half-orc introduces himself to Ovirid while bringing the edge of a very sharp scimitar down and around hard, "I'm Hrokon." 16 pts of damage to Ovirid.

Two blasts of light catch Hrokon immediately after his attack.

I'll make the rolls for the Aura of Menace. You can't tell who is not slowed.

A very gooey shape begins to struggle with the web before placing its invisible arms at its invisible side in a gesture that seems to indicate frustration and resignation. "Bastards can't take a joke!" it says.

As for Asim, he apparently hasn't stepped into the room.

The sarcophagus glows with a multi-hued light, filling the room with spinning beauty and then lid of it slowly disintegrates.

(Fighter (Shield) 3 / Rogue 4)

Tarren the Dungeon Master wrote:

"Aye, so ye 'r."

Assuming disintegration of the lid of the sarcophagus interrupts the flow of battle, but Ovirid's keen on returning the favor to the half-orc. Any chance of a flanking position on Hrokon if Ovirid takes a move action?

A slender arm with skin the color of polished gold reaches out of the sarcophagus and grasps the edge. An equally graceful arm does the same on the other side.

Tarren the Dungeon Master wrote:

Uh-oh. Is it only me that has a bad feeling about this? ;)

Nope, no way, no how, absolutely not. Ovirid's only still in the room because he's enraged (figure of speech, not class ability) at the half-orc and hasn't seen the very graceful appendage appearances.

The slender arms are followed by the head and upper body of a beautiful woman with flawless skin and a crown that appears to be made of pure light.

(Male Human Rogue 1/ Wizard 6)

a lil reminder "One passage reads "and those who would open the tomb need serve she who is shown in the stone, a true descendent of the Pharoahs" followed by an image that looks similar to the statuette with Lonicera/Neferet's face that you saw in the auction and at the Crook Bearer's house. Korian easily detects this section as being illusory and can read the rather mundane ext behind it."

Distracted by the arrival of the dweller in the sarcophagus cannot help but fall to his knees in reverence of the beauty before him, his mirror images copying him exactly. Yet still he tries to keep his wits about him and remember all he can about this being and her significance.
Knowledge history(with +6 from rubbings NOT included):1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11

Meanwhile he reaches into his haversack, summoning the female statuette to hand and tries to snap off the fake head if he can, ready to catch anything which may fall out of it.

PS what's she wearing?

(Fighter (Shield) 3 / Rogue 4)

The radiant crown finally gets Ovirid's attention away from the half-orc.

He steps back 5' from the melee (if possible) and whispers to Korian, "Ankana th' Radiant Pharoah claimed t' be daughter o' th' sun 'n mother o' th' stars. D'ye think we've brought 'er back t' life b' comin' 'ere?"

From earlier spoiler...

He does not drop his guard, however, if the half-orc presses his attack.

Korian Allande wrote:
PS what's she wearing?

Very little. What are you wearing?

Spoiler:
Just kidding. She's only head and shoulders above the tomb. I'll give you more description in a minute.

Korian is drawing a blank on 'the radiant pharoah'. He knows that one of the four pharoahs was a woman but he doesn't recall much about her.

Breaking the head off the statue will require a strength check or a sunder check.

The woman draws herself up to her full height, standing in the sarcophagus. She steps down carefully, her hands raised at her sides as if to grasp the shoulders of slaves ready to assist her. There are no slaves present.

She wears funerary wrappings but they fall loose to reveal skin unblemished by time and golden bracelets and anklets.

She looks out from the small niche 20' by 20' by 20' containing her sarcophagus across the large chamber at the two parties, all of who are gathered in the far end of the chamber.

When she speaks it is in a voice liked warmed honey yet still commanding. You do not understand what she has said.

Linguistics Check, DC 20:

Spoiler:
She is speaking in ancient Osiriani, a dead language.

(Fighter (Shield) 3 / Rogue 4)

Linguistics 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9

Blast! My turn to draw a blank...

(Male Human Rogue 1/ Wizard 6)

: P

Strength Check:1d20 ⇒ 17
Linguistics Check:1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28

Korian nods slowly at Ovirid's words, his eyes never leaving the vision before him. His seems connected to the woman, able to almost hear her words in his mind, and this lends him a strength he normally doesn't have as he tries to surreptitiously break off the head of the statuette.

or wait, the check was just to identify the language, not understand what was said? Will post again soon as I get an answer

Yep, that was just the check to identify the language. Understanding dead languages when spoken isn't included in the description of the linguistics skill. It would be much harder than understanding a written text.

(Male Human Rogue 1/ Wizard 6)

OK. And the strength check? OH! AHA! And Just remembered! hahaha

Remaining on his knees, Korian calls over the Archon, and, speaking Celestial, commands it to translate the golden woman's words to him in the same tongue.

Then, rising slowly to his feet, Korian bows and says in Osiriani

Spoiler:

"Oh great and radiant Ankana, oh glorious mother of the stars and daughter of the Sun, oh most beautiful of Pharoahs, it has been an age and gone since your great sleep and the tongue of your people has changed. This celestial being I have summoned can translate for us but it shall soon be gone. This poor servant of your will begs forgiveness for asking but can you understand my words? Or is there another tongue in which we may speak?"

He then commands the Archon to translate his speech into Ancient Osiriani for her.

Korian's speech may need to be edited some depending on what Ankana said though...

The Radiant Pharoah said:

Spoiler:
"You squabble like children when you stand before power unlike any you have ever known. Must I discipline you or will you take your rightful place on you knees before me?"

The Radiant Pharoah speaks again in yet another dead language.

(Male Human Rogue 1/ Wizard 6)

Korian orders the Archon to continue translating to him in Celestial for as long as it remains. He then casts a significant look and urgent nod to his comrades and sinks back down to his knees. Prostrating himself before the Pharoah he says, this time in Kelish

Spoiler:
"Oh great Pharoah, a million pardons but that language too has died over the millenia. As for this battle before you, it has only been to protect you and the holy artifacts within your tomb from those who seek to rob and profit from them. My companions and I (Korian indicates his allies) have tracked down and fought to stop these others, these infidels, defilers from insulting your agust personage"

So what was the 2nd thing she said?ANd how many rounds out of 12 does the archon have left?

Korian:

Spoiler:
The second thing she said was ... "Has the old tongue been forgotten? What a barbarous age is this. Perhaps my enemies have triumphed and their tongue persists?"

The archon would be more than half way done its rounds.

I'll let other people get some action in before we continue the conversation.

Neferet draws out a scroll and start reading it quietly out loud.

(Fighter (Shield) 3 / Rogue 4)

Ovirid mutters, "We'll be fer endin' 'is discussion later, Horken. Fer now, Ah'm fer takin' care o' other matters."

He sinks to his knees, keeping an eye on the half-orc with his axe and shield in hand.

(Male Human (Taldan/Osirioni) Rogue 3/Sorcerer 4)

Ixius follows Korian's lead and kneels aw well, keeping an eye on Etseban

"Hrokon." hisses the half-orc as he slips to one knee as well. "It's Hrokon."

Esteban also quickly goes to one knee only to realize he's knelt in crocodile's blood. He looks down at his neatly pleated canvas khaki pants with seams cross stitched in bronze thread, "Ah, in-Gorum's-name, I just bought these!"

Sykala's eyes narrow as the others bare their throats to this new predator. She melts back into the wall only to reappear in the hallway just out of sight of the golden woman where the druidess stays still and listens.

Osirion (Male Human Living Monolith 1 Fighter 5)

I'm so sorry guys. Work has once more been a freakin' nightmare and the last week has seen me totally worn out, to the point where I have been going to bed at the same time as the kids instead of staying up to do my internets. :(

Tarren:
Tarren I'm really sorry. I have had far too many absences lately and I apologise. If you want me to drop out then I fully understand.
If however you want me to stay, we can say that Asim stayed at the Golem lift to guard against an ambush from another level while the others explored, but he came running when he heard the sounds of battle to arrive as Ankana is talking to Korian.
It's your call and I will abide by your decision.

Asim Hassona wrote:

If you feel like you have the energy, please stay. I understand how tiring kids can be.

I need to know if Asim is in the hallway with Sykala, in the room, or in the room on his knees bowing as commanded by The Radiant Pharoah.

(Male Human Rogue 1/ Wizard 6)

just curious...are those grappled in the Web even able to kneel? Does being Slowed affect this? and finally, do we need any kind of Perception check to know where the Paracount is, or can we just tell due to his being stuck in the web?

Korian Allande wrote:

The Paracount isn't entirely sure he wants to kneel. The Paracount and the weird guy are the only ones caught in the web. I think they could probably manage to kneel or at least gesture as if they'd like to. You can tell where the Paracount is. You can even read his entirely disgusted body language.
