ahhh... whoops yes it appears they are. :/

I have no idea how that happende but it appears I don't have them written on his sheet here either, so I must have accidently missed doing them. O.o
Does anyone remember how we were doing hp (Tarren?) so I can mark them down?

Just bringing this up again in case you missed it Tarren... :)

Asim grips his axe and looks around. Seeing nothing, he sifts through the remains with his foot, before bending down to retrieve the Dagger and Parchment from the floor. He hefts the Dagger to guage it's balance, then tosses it hilt first towards Korian for him to catch, following it's path with the parchment held before him.

Max hp at first level. For subsequent levels, half +1 at each level (6/level for a fighter). All levels after this will be rolled. OR You get max at 1st level and roll for each level rerolling 1s. Either one of those is fine with me.

Dex check, Korian? I think he's pissed.

Hey, I said hilt first... ;)

Oh and hp are updated.

(Fighter (Shield) 3 / Rogue 4)

"Well done, lads. Anybody fer gettin' too 'urt?"

He starts examining the area -- looking for other obvious entrances, traps, secret doors, traps, ...

If you go to the east, you can take a turn and go up a wide flight of stairs. If you go to the west, you come to another T intersection heading north and south.

All along this corridor are columns covered in hieroglyphs.

You do not notice any secret doors or traps.

(Male Human Rogue 1/ Wizard 6)

Looking shamed faced Korian moves to try and catch the dagger tossed his way 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 you said Dex not Ref, right?

Then, (whether he has to pick the dagger off the floor or not) he studies both dagger and note, trying to ascertain anything of importance from either.

I try to stay positive but this Paizo dice-roller really doesn't seem to be too fond of me for some reason...

Korian Allande wrote:

Oh don't worry, it hates me too. :/

The note reads:

"Another gift from the Her Majestrix's Expeditionary -- Yours, Julistar!"

Beneath that, in a more flowing script, you read:

"Help! Help! The Expeditionary has taken me prisoner. Please, save me!! -- Love Lonicera/Neferet"

Linguistics check (DC 15):

Spoiler:
The handwriting is identical to that on the documents that Neferet brought from the archive of the Ruby Prince to prove her legitimacy.

At the bottom half of the page is an encircled rune beneath which is written:

"Boo!"

Don't worry. I was just joking about the dagger.

Hey, don't feel bad. My roll of a 1 at the tabletop game was nearly enough to cause an 11th-level TPK. We're lucky to have survived.

(Male Human Rogue 1/ Wizard 6)

haha well, cheers to the League of Unlucky Gentlemen then! ;-) And Tarren, is This a copy of the rune the blind man described? And as well, would Korian have any idea if a copy of the rune would have any power?Would I need some sort of check for that?

Korian Allande wrote:

I don't think you asked the blindfolded gentleman enough questions about the runes he saw. You may not know whether these are the runes or not. However, this rune translates as "to laugh".

(Male Human Rogue 1/ Wizard 6)

Ok. So, are we up to needing a map yet, or is it basically just two directions other than the way we came from? And is there anything to distinguish one passage from the other? And any indication which way our foes went? Oh Hey! Jinx has Scent! = D

Korian whispers a few words to his familiar and the tiny predator scrambles down and proceeds to sniff around the area, attempting to determine the direction their prey has gone.
It says:
" A creature with the scent ability can attempt to follow tracks using Survival untrained. The typical DC for a fresh trail is 10. The DC increases or decreases depending on how strong the quarry's odor is, the number of creatures, and the age of the trail. For each hour that the trail is cold, the DC increases by 2. The ability otherwise follows the rules for the Survival skill in regards to tracking. Creatures tracking by scent ignore the effects of surface conditions and poor visibility."
But what roll is that then? Just wisdom? Or perception??

It's going to be pretty easy for Jinx to pick up the scent. He'll need to make a wisdom check (survival untrained) not perception. DC 10 and he'll be able to give you the direction the other party took.

(Male Human Rogue 1/ Wizard 6)

Jinx's wisdom check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18

Korian Allande wrote:

Jinx spins around a bit before heading off towards the west. He passes by several pillars covered in hieroglyphics.

After about 30' he comes to the North-South T intersection. There he looks confused and darts back and forth a bit.

Feeling somewhat protective of the small weasel, Sykala drifts forward over the heads of the group and looks down the hallways with her darkvision.

Sykala wrote:

Was everyone okay with my understanding of what you can see with darkvision -- shades of grey but no colours?

Sykala sees:

Spoiler:
Four encircled runes!!!! DUHDUHDUHDUM.

Osirion (Male Human Living Monolith 1 Fighter 5)

Looking to Korian as he watches Jinx move off, Asim shrugs and stalks off behind the weasel as it follows the scent of the Expeditionary. When Jinx stops and looks confused, he also halts and drops into a crouch near the little Familiar, brandishing his axe and protecting it from anything that may be coming.

(Fighter (Shield) 3 / Rogue 4)

Ovirid follows the weasel and his security detail. When the weasel starts casting about for a new scent, the dwarf starts looking for less obvious exits - secret door in the wall, for starters, tunnel up into the ceiling -- and especially for traps and trapdoors.

Rolls:

Spoiler:

Perception 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26, +2 vs traps
Perception 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29, +2 vs traps
Perception 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17, +2 vs traps

Tarren:

Spoiler:
Aha! but luckily not in color. Runes need color to be effective....right?....RIGHT?

Ok, so seriously, where are they located? Anything else down the hallways?

The little elemental suddenly drops lower right into Ovirid's face, making it exceedingly difficult for him to do or see anything.

Sykala wrote:

Tarren:** spoiler omitted **

Sykala:

Spoiler:
The runes run down the northern branch of the hallway. Four different runes. All encircled. ... Nothing seems to be happening to Sykala.

The guards lent to you by the Crook Bearer nod to you as they prepare to leave, "We'll be waiting outside."

(Male Human (Taldan/Osirioni) Rogue 3/Sorcerer 4)

Ixius is right behind Ovirid, with his lit up bow in hand.

Ixius does not have darkvision.

Ovirid is having trouble seeing with dust from the hallway swirling around in his eyes.

(Male Human Rogue 1/ Wizard 6)

Hmm, I hadn't actually meant for Jinx to follow the trail just yet, but that's ok. : ) What is Korian sensing from the little fellow?

Korian does not let his dear furry friend get more than a few feet distant from him and keeps his eyes and senses mainly focused of the tiny beast. As Jinx darts about in confusion Korian draws upon their emotional link as he calls out "What is Jinx? What do sense?"

(Fighter (Shield) 3 / Rogue 4)

"What th' - lass, 'ave ye blown yer mind clean outta whatever ye 'ave fer a 'ead?"

Assuming this is a warning from the shaped druid, Ovirid drops back 5' and readies shield and axe while he tries to blink the dust from his eyes.

"D'ye see anythin'? She's blown s'much dust in m' eyes, Ah'm gonna be 'alf way t' Sothis afore Ah c'n see again."

The little whirlwind backs off and takes up a position in the entrance to the northern hallway.

Tarren:

Spoiler:
Any attempt by the group to look or shine a light down the passage behind her is met with dust in the eyes. Hopefully they will get a clue.

Korian Allande wrote:

Yeah, I wouldn't have done that at the table but PbPs are much slower. I sometimes cut corners.

Jinx senses:

Spoiler:
That they went both ways. It seems they went both north and south and he's not sure which way they went first and which way they went last.

(Fighter (Shield) 3 / Rogue 4)

Now armed and with readied shield, Ovirid will try to blink his eyes clear. Fortitude 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

He will look at the little puff of wind that is Sykala and say, "Lass, 'ave ye spotted a threat? Move up 'n down if'n it be so."

Assuming an affirmative "bounce," he asks, "'r ye blockin' m' path t' it? Is it behind ye 'n th' nort' 'allway? Bounce if'n Ah'm right."

And, if appropriate, "Is th' threat 'uman?" Pause. "Be it 'nother undead?" Pause. "A trap Ah've overlooked?" Pause. Animal, vegetable, or mineral? Insert your guess here...

Ovirid gets a affirmative bounce for the first two questions but a sway side-to-side for the last three. For a moment she sits still and then flies back past the group. Assuming you follow her she ends up hovering right above the encircled runes that say 'Point of no Return' that we passed previously.

(Male Human Rogue 1/ Wizard 6)

Translating Jinx's high pitched report, Korian calls his familiar to him while saying to the others "Jinx tells me that our foes have gone both directions yet he cannot tell which was first and which last." Turning to the air elemental he asks
"Is it another of the runes you have seen?" pause
"Does there seem to be any reason to head north?" pause
"Or do you believe we should just head south instead?"

Sykala:

Spoiler:

When you arrive at the runes that say 'Point of no return' one of the Crook Bearer's guard meets you there. He's just returned from up towards the exit. "I couldn't get out!" he says. "Kamman had no problem but ... something stopped me from leaving."

To just the first question she gives the affirmative bounce, and then does it again, and again, and again before the second question is even asked. He gets no response at all for the second question and an affirmative bounce for the third.

Anyone who followed her to the 'point of no return' rune should read the above spoiler for Sykala from Tarren.

(Male Human Rogue 1/ Wizard 6)

Not sure how far it was back to the runes so don't really know if Korian had to do that to speak to her or not but assuming so...

Seeing the guard approach and overhearing him Korian steps closer asking him "What do you mean man? Speak clearly! What stopped you exactly? A creature? Some sort of force barrier? A wall of blazing fire! We don't have time for you foolishness, so out with it!"

Oh PS Taren, meant to say before, ya that's totally cool. Cutting corners to save time in a PbP is pretty much always ok by me ^-^

Korian Allande wrote:

The man looks stunned and then answers, "Uh .. a 'force barrier' I guess ... I just could not move forward but Kamman could. Once he got out he started to come back but I thought it best that he not ...".

He looks a bit upset that he is being yelled at like he's and trying to get over his fear enough to be miffed.

(Male Human (Taldan/Osirioni) Rogue 3/Sorcerer 4)

"Hmm. I wonder if we can get out. Should we try?"

(Fighter (Shield) 3 / Rogue 4)

"Aye, Ah'm fer thinkin' ye oughta try." Turning to the guard, "Lad, 'ow well d'ye know Kamman? What's th' difference, d'ye think 'at would let 'im out 'n keep ye in? Didye both stay t'gether when ye came in 'ere? Could Kamman 'ear ye through th' 'barrier'?"

He puts a wide hand on the poor man's shoulder, "It's good o' ye t' not 'ave 'im try 'is luck through the barrier ag'n. Good thinkin'. Did 'e stay close enough t' talk t', though?"

Are we positioned where we can see up the passage? Is Kamman still visible? And what is this poor sod's name?

Osirion (Male Human Living Monolith 1 Fighter 5)

Asim follows the others back to the warning and after hearing the conversation about the barrier, helooks down the long corridor towards the exit. "I will attempt it," he states in a tone that brooks no argument. He starts off down the passage, Axe held ot before him in a protective manner.

The guard confirms that he could talk to Kamman without difficulty, that they stayed together when they came in, and that he knows him well enough (wife's cousin). He has no idea why Kamman could move out and he couldn't.

Asim heads up the sloping 300 foot long corridor to the entrance. After about 250' he bounces off an invisible barrier. His axe penetrates it no problem.

Osirion (Male Human Living Monolith 1 Fighter 5)

Asim calls back down the corridor to the others about what has happened. I can see no reason why my Axe can pass through and I cannot, other than I am alive and it is not." To further test his theory, he takes out a Copper coin and throws it and then he attempts to swing his rope across the "barrier".

"Heh. Well, 'asim, 'e sure appears t' be alive, too. 'n yer short a copper! Heh. Did th' blind man say anythin' 'bout a barrier?"

Osirion (Male Human Living Monolith 1 Fighter 5)

Asim's brow furrows and he gives the rope a tug. "Try and pull me through," he instructs Kamman.

Asim Hassona wrote:

Kamman is not able to pull Asim through.

Osirion (Male Human Living Monolith 1 Fighter 5)

Tarren the Dungeon Master wrote:

Frustrated, Asim tells Kammen to drop the rope and pulls it back inside the barrier. He calls back down to the others, "it is no good, I can send objects through, but I cannot pass through whatever is there."

He trudges back down the corridor and asks them all their opinion on the problem.

The little elemental rushes toward the exit and attempts to leave by pushing itself against whatever force is stopping her. Swirling around for a few moments she finally gives up and returns slowly to the rest of the group......now actually living her worst nightmare.
