Great, it's a Glabrezu.

Jean would probably be near Andross or say within 60 feet of the nasty obelisks. Whichever's closer.

Pit Fiend

You are next to Andross, who is about to turn into a swarm of bats and fly away... You can hear him whisper, "Oh f*ck that" before doing so. Andross is one move action away from the glabrezu... Good luck guys. The other options included 1d4 chain devils, 2 succubi and other fun options.

Male Half-Elf

From now on, I touch nothing.

Pit Fiend

You didn't even get inside the Tomb yet! Not even my group dared to touch the collumns when we ran through it XD But seriously, no one, speaks Abyssal? Isn't anyone curious as to what he said? The big guy could be asking which way to the bathroom, for all you know.

I kinda forgot to do languages before we started, but it would feel kind of wrong to decide now "oh, he knows abyssal".

If no one can, understand what he said, then Maxwell is getting a telepathic statement. As for you not knowing languages, choose now. You are too frightened to remember anything but Taldane, at the moment, but it should all come flooding back,to you when this is over...

Male Half-Elf

Well Maxwell had to lay the skin to rest, in case the bodies didn't get to.

Maxwell you can delete and edit your posts, as long as you do it within the hour. You can fix it in the gameplay thread if you want.

One thing I've noticed to keep combat moving along, is to have the GM roll the initiative, so that we aren't held up waiting for one guy to post. Its how I do it in my Iron Gods campaign.

Oh and I will not be running up to play tag the Glabrezu... Suzu can touch it if she wants! I know better as the brains of this operation.

Pit Fiend

But Harv... They need someone with your power and skill to take down this beast!

Pit Fiend

Raphael: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Hamish: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Good idea, Harv!

Male Half-Elf

So whats the over-under on a wipe before we even enter the dungeon?

Pit Fiend

...
What?

Male Half-Elf

by wipe I mean TPK

Pit Fiend

XD Well, let's just see how this turns out, eh? HE seems to like YOU.

Male Half-Elf

LIKE isnt the word that I would use, but yea lets see.

Good idea, Harv!

Well, good thing you rolled the exact same thing for init that I did? Because I didn't look at the discussion thread before posting in the gameplay thread and editing it now would mess up my planes roll.

Also, Raphael speaks the main angelic/demonic tongues (Abyssal, Celestial, and Infernal). Of course, since we're now in combat, it's not like he can translate for anyone....

Pit Fiend

Well that was coincidentally advantageous. Anyways, Raphael, you heard the glabrezu say these words exactly. "You have nerve to summon me mortal!"

As for your planes check, you know this thing is a Glabrezu. Ask your question. You get... one.

Errr...ask a question about the stats of the glabrezu? Or am I asking the glabrezu a question since that's what the summon was for?

If it's the stats because of the knowledge check, I ask about any special weaknesses/strengths (like immune to fire, weak to electricity). ...although I'm not really sure why since I can't communicate that to the rest of the party.

If it's the latter, I will apologize profusely for accidentally summoning the creature and ask how we could persuade him to leave in peace.

Pit Fiend

It's definitely not the latter ^_^
Well, weaknesses and strengths are actually two different questions so I'll give you the special defenses (or strengths) since he has more of those than weaknesses.

DR 10/good; Immune electricity, poison; Resist acid 10, cold 10, fire 10; SR 24

Whenever I give you questions, the general categories are: Special Attacks, defenses, weaknesses, spells/spell like abilities

Oops, I also just remembered that depending on if that statement occurred before or after combat started, Raphael may not have known Abyssal at the time.

Pit Fiend

Ah well, it doesn't change much I don't think.

I wonder how many more breath of life items Andross 'forgot' he put in his bag of holding...

XD Believe it or not, I want struggle but put too much work in the endgame for you guys to completely wipe before you step foot in the dungeon.

we got it, maybe

Pit Fiend

All right Harv, how about he let the next full attack go out on you? When you see 'We' then 'you' become a fair target ;)

Luckily I moved with Suzu and we are 30 feet away now! And I'm an immortal spirit of life, I'll come back in another form at some point!

Sick it Suzumaru, don't let it get away with hurting that nice man.

Big words little goat... Orphanage... ribbons...

Pit Fiend

Average Diet of a Glabrezu: Goat. You being immortal just means more food for him every few days!

Think jean did his crit wrong, all the extra damage should be doubled but the holy, if that confirmed.

Static damage should be doubled on the crit not just the dice.
So extra damage for crit should be

9 dice +4 strength + 1 weapon spec. +3 recklessness +9 smite (26 more)

Pit Fiend

Ah ^^ Then the Glabrezu is slightly more hurt. I'll mark that down.

If I'm correct, a natural 1 on a save is always a fail, right? So theoretically, it ~might~ fail its fort save.

Pit Fiend

Don't roll a 1: 1d20 ⇒ 15

Not including modifier.

Pit Fiend

Maxwell, I AM impressed with you. Though you can't say I didn't give you a hint as to what would happen if you used a teleportation effect on the island.

What the... What the... Didn't you read the books?!?! For someone without immortality, you sure are trying hard to see how much you can take before you get killed!

I'm at a loss of what to do, we are so dead...

Pit Fiend

You know it! And you know Jean... You just hit this thing really hard... And it's smart enough to figure out that three devils are probably going to rip Maxwell apart... This is getting so rowdy I just might have to bring in a map...

Male Half-Elf

So I don't even know what to say. So teleporting is really bad, but to be fair, I wasn't going to survive another round so close to that thing. Maxwell's Law indeed.

Chain devil = Kyton? Never really played earlier D&D, only Pathfinder stuff here.

Question in order of preference for the KN:Planes?

1.What are the chain devil's defenses?
2.What are its weaknesses?
3.Special abilities?

Pit Fiend

Looks like Andross has just enough magic items for you to be wearing one when you actually get inside...

Pit Fiend

Yup. Those are Kytons

So i would imagine that we aren't playing life link tag? or are we.

Raphael took 5 damage from lifelink on his turn, since I went after do I absorb the 5 (with my lifelink) he took from his lifelink?

Also I edited my above post to ask about KN results for the Kytons

Pit Fiend

DR 5/silver or good; Immune cold; SR 17
regeneration 2 (good weapons and spells, silver weapons
And do whatever is easiest for the life link with Raphael.

Ok edited Gameplay to include Raph's damage on me. Oh snap! False life absorbed it all for me! I'm still at 102/101. Come and get some Kytons, I got me some fire magic next round!

And the bard is gone...

Pit Fiend

A swarm of bats suddenly appears in front oh Hamish. They flutter, then begin to shape themselves into the form of a man...

"Where are you going?" Andross asks. "Need I tell the Decimvirate that this is how the infamous Mad Hamish survived this long? By running away when his allies were in need?"

Did he say breath of life? He meant a custom resurrection spell that doesn't give you negative levels...[and only activate when the danger has decided to leave the area, as to allow you time to breath... He's just that good of a craftsman

Can't get me in the discussion thread!

No, Hamish lived this long by not jumping the CR +4 encounters and summoning a few more devils for kicks.

And then attacking said devils while they eat their accidental summoner alive. :P

That being said he'll be back to scoop up the remains into a sack when the screaming stops.

Male Orc Expert 5

A small sack.
