The elven lady looks around at the sudden attention at her entrance. "Greetings," she says cordially, but cooly. "I am Kyrethia, a dealer in rare antiquities. I have no small skill in the Art and would like to join with any group doing explorations."
"Well, love this is the Grand Lodge of Absalom, if no one's thinking of doing explorations they're elbows deep in books! Bloody waste of time books are but I can see the appeal as opposed to keeping a carrion crawler from eating your nadgers."
Suzumaru Viskillian |
"What in the world are nadgers, I've never heard of those before? Are the related to badgers, cause those critters can be quite grumpy." Interrupted by Harvey she pauses a second, hears his explanation . She begins blush again, then stammers,"Oh my. Ummm... I'm going to go wait in the corner over there 'til the Venture Captain returns..."
Suzumaru Viskillian |
Familiar. Shaman has a familiar like a witch, who acts as a conduit for oracle mysteries renamed spirits.
Max Gain |
Max Gain wrote:No one has entered any tombs or dungeons yet as far as you know. The only people on the island are building docks on the very coast of it so that they can transport people/materialsDoombringer the DM wrote:The Pathfinder who spoke before turns back to you. "Rumor is, they spotted dungeons and tombs all over this island. They are sending squads inside each one so they can clear it out as quickly as possible... It'd be bad if demons came out of there with Absolom so close by. What I definitely know is that they sent mages and workers to the coast to build docks and a makeshift base of operations."Max comes in just in time hearing this I've heard there are dungeons and tombs around here. That is why I'm here, to prove myself. My group I was with said I would never make it without them in such a dangerous place, but I tend to prove them wrong.
Max pauses for a minute. Say this place you speak of, has anyone returned alive?
oh, for clarification, I was just saying Max heard of them, ie. reason for being here, not that he knows someone who entered them. Which is why he was asking.Anyway, Max asks another question. And can you confirm these rumors as true? What exactly is over there?

Father Raphael
"Well, hopefully they also have solid lines of communication. It'd be bad is people started disappearing without anyway of noticing. It'd probably be best to have at least daily check-ins with the mainland. The last thing I'd want is for us to accidentally supply the guy with his own mini-army of killed Pathfinders."
Max lets out a laugh for about two seconds, then with a serious face says. It sounds like a good plan, but supply the guy with killed Pathfinders? Nope, I won't let that happen, and neither will you I hope. We are smart adventurers I hope. And powerful too. Then Max pauses for a minute. Sorry, I almost forgot to introduce myself. The name is Max Gain as he says this with a smile while trying to shake hands.

The elven lady gives the goat a look not unlike that of a disapproving mother. It isn't quite certain if she actually understood its words or somehow caught its tone, but her gaze would kowtow a raging Kellid warrior.
Turning to the Victim, she says, "Books are extremely useful for keeping one's nadgers where they belong and out of the mouths of monsters. For example, they can tell us what to do if facing an undead abomination that seems to be immune to the power of our cleric of Sarenrae."

Max gives the elf a smile. Yes, literature is something I've had an interest in. But are books always accurate? In a book by Ibrahim S. Amin, it says that an especially ambitious hunter may wish to capture rather than kill a hellhound. In much the same way that conventional hunters employ regular dogs, a monster hunter may be able to make good use of a trained hellhound. Capturing one isn't as difficult as you think. Feed it some drugged food which will put it to sleep, then once you captured it, hire a dog trainer. Though I doubt Hell hounds are trainable. Not to mention, it was private book known only to a few. It also said I can get rid of a zombie by putting salt in it's mouth which is white magic. yes that is a real book, written by a real author, but I'm pretending that since this is pathfinder that it was a private book sold only to a few, ie. a character's personal possession that does nothing special just something for roleplay, instead of a published book. Since in D&D/pathfinder times there were no published books.
going to sleep now, will post more in the morning.

"Last book I found really useful were the Ten Thousand Building codes of his Most Holy and Stalwart Abadar. Bit gigantic bastard was all I had at hand to lay about me when the lower tomb exploded in bloody skeletons." Hamish leans back in his seat the old weathered pine creaking under the weight. "I mean who do you think writes the books lady? The lads who spend all day inside dusty buildings complaining how the fire's one down or the blokes like us who get down and get bloody to find out what's over the horizon, in the dark jungle, or sometimes right beneath your feet?"
Hamish's smile goes wide. "Probably why Old Ambrus hates me. Didn't even learn to read till I joined the lodge and saw more monsters and more of the darkness beneath his feet than he had in his whole lifetime. Or it could be he's just a racist old git."
Jean Begnoche |
Jean returns from wherever he was, likely finding more alcohol.
There is a purpose in books, to pass knowledge on to later generations, for example, but every bit of knowledge that was ever recorded in a book came from either the lab or the field. Books limit you to what people already know or discovered.
Shae Oakenshield |
A stocky dwarf enters the room and looks around before finding a seat near the back. Wearing only an explorers outfit, he asks the nearest person. "Have I missed anything? I just got into town and was having a nice warm meal when a messenger delivered this letter to me," waving the letter from the VC. "I heard some talk at the inn about some island popping up out of no where. I assume that is why we are all here."
Shae Oakenshield |
"Ah, it looks like you and your goat will be journeying to the island. I wish you luck and hope I don't have to come rescue you," Shae says to the gnome. "Maybe just as well, now I can get some much needed rest after my last voyage." Shae wishes the other chosen warriors luck and then makes his way back to the inn for a nightcap.

"Word of mouth can get distorted over time, so boos are good in that regard. However, people tend to think just because something is written down its true. That can be a problem when they're wrong. "
My thoughts exactly, sometimes books are written as legends and legends usually only have part truth to them. But nevertheless, they are always fun to read. as Max says this enthusiasm.

Doom, feel free to roll the saves for me, especially if everyone else has posted and you're ready to move along.
Father Raphael |
He read our minds? Oh god! I'm allergic to vampires! *brain breaks out in hives, Father Raphael convulses and dies* :P
Suzumaru Viskillian |
Well I am a Shaman connected to the Life Spirit. As in opposite of death.
Also its fairly rude to comment on people's thoughts and feelings and read them without permission first.
Though I suppose I could wandering spirit up the bones one and then i can be a mini necromancer... hmm... that could be sorta awkward...

Not to my knowledge. I didn't think the god was 3rd party. Everything is from d20pfsrd
I just rechecked and I see now that it is 3rd party. There was on grand list of gods on the site, and it isn't util you click on the specific god that it sites it as 3rd party. I usual play arcane classes and haven't played a divine in a while. What you like me to change my god. We aren't that far into things yet.
Doombringer the DM |
I assume everyone is familiar with roll20, correct? Just want to make sure before I send out the link to this specific map, thought you will get it once you arrive to the Tomb. You will be railroaded slightly there, so you don't take any detours on the island, but everything should be fine!
Doombringer the DM |
I don't think I am going to use a map for this, as all that is featured is this huge sized creature (two of its arms are pincers if that gives you a hint/frightens you) right next to it is Maxwell, and at the outer limits of its reach are Suzumaru and Father Raphael. Hamish is 30 feet away... And Jean, you haven't posted your location before this happened, so where would you most likely be?
And Maxwell, Asmodeus help you if this thing rolls high on initiative.
Initiative: 1d20 ⇒ 12
This is not a surprise round. Everyone can do as they wish, and there is no difficult terrain. If you attack, describe your weapon.
I had to roll a five. It couldn't be a 1-4. I think even a 6 might have been better for this party makeup, but no, it had to be a five.
