Retreat back a bit, and armor up. Bradaman's Longsword, and shield up. Ioun bless bags of holding.
"Ruinblade, I wished to let you know that I still intend not to use you in city if I can help it, you are far too powerful for what may just be a rogue otyugh....Though if its something far worse, we may see how effective I use you."
"Thom, if you think the otyugh has gone feral or such, please let me know soon, for I intend to capture it otherwise."
If nothing occurs after that, she will investigate the door, boldly kicking it open, as she looks to surprise whatever foe is inside.
Guardian Iatos |
She looks towards Thom, "Truely? It is worse than I thought, take heart Thom, we'll be cautious." His tone does indeed urge her to caution. "Keep a spell upon your lips, and I'll stay within the doorway if able."
A readied set of actions from Barel and Thom here might do wonders, if they can squeeze something in before initiative, if things do go sour.
After any last second preparation, Raya slowly opens the door, her shield braced and ready.

Arishat |
"Right! Do you know what scares people in a fight. It's not the biggest, nastiest thing around. It's not having loads of enemies around. It's when they look at you and can't see anything they can do to fight back! When people look at you, and see a wall of spear heads where they want to attack, they start to think about their mortality. They start to think that maybe they shouldn't go towards those people, because they can't do much too them. And when that wall of spearheads is advancing on them, they start to think that perhaps they should retreat. And people hwo are leaping over the side of a ship to get away from you probably aren't going to be a big problem for a while." Arishat raises her voice. "First, we need to get you able to move together, as a group! Now, grab a pole. Form up in three ranks. Let's see whether you can move in a straight line, before we get onto the complicated stuff like wheeling or advancing with leveled weapons."

Raya's ignorance may be a blessing, but Thom can fill in enough of the blanks for all of them.
The toadlike being is unquestionably a slaad. These agents of entropy are strange indeed and rarely found outside the elemental planes. The green colouration means that the creature is a Spawner, governed above all by driving need to infect and devour as many living beings as possible.
This one has newly reached full growth as the slime of recent increase in size and a few dotted organic remains attest. As a result, it may be slightly slower than usual, but likely no less dangerous.
Ref is weakest defense.
Arishat goes to work, assembling her troops and drawing a small crowd of amused onlookers. Among them are a couple of bored githyanki on the Cloudbreaker.
There is plenty of distraction to cover any actions Lynore and Lanthair may wish to take.
Rev DM |
From the corner of his eye, Lanthair sees a faint pulsing flicker coming from the hold of the Maid of Allwork.
Lying alongside her, Cloudbreaker's crew are engrossed in Arishat's demonstration. If the halfling can find a way to Cloudbreaker's stern, it looks as if he can make his way aboard without anyone noticing.

Moving lightly around the portal, the slaad licks its rather large lips and points at Raya. A burst of uncontrolled chaotic energy heads towards the paladin blurring her mind.

Cloudbreaker
Lanthair sets off to swim out to the ship.
My goal is to swim out close to it. Once I'm closer, I can use Careful Stride to stand on the water and position myself under the ladder. Then use the Crane's Wings movement technique to jump and grab it. Athletics 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (8) + 27 = 35.
Stealth if I need it: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (2) + 19 = 21

Cloudbreaker
Using Arishat's distraction to the hilt, Lanthair slips quietly into the water and swims un-noticed to the ladder. With a single swift movement, he pushes himself upwards and onto the side of Cloudbreaker. The combination of his own skill and the whining of recruits masks everything.
Maid
Thom realises he needs to be closer to the mass of energy in order to remove it.
You can keep the roll of course, but you need to be within two squares of the portal to deal with it. My bad. Forgot to say so.

Arishat's voice can be heard calling orders amid the excited buzz of commentary from her audience and the moans of her recruits.
Lanthair moves swiftly to the hold door and realises it is both heavy and locked. A faint splash behind him heralds the arrival of Lynore.
How intelligent of me to blank out your letters. I've put you where I think you want to be, but if you could all check, I'd be grateful.
@Raya - no need to save v daze, it ends at the end of the slaad's next turn
Barel advances with menaces, but fails to land a blow on the slaad. It flicks a thoughtful glance at him.

A figure plunges off the Maid of Allwork into the middle of Arishat's carefully mustered distraction.
"Clear the dock! Clear the dock! There's something horrible in the Maid's hold!"
The gith sailors look at each other with some concern.
Lanthair slips down into the open hatch just as panicky voice starts shouting to clear the dock.
