Second saving throw 1d20
I don't think the 10 ongoing psychic would stack with the 5 psychic from the other effect, would it? Even if I fail to save again.
It absolutely wouldn't stack, but you wouldn't want to be taking 5 ongoing necro and 10 ongoing psychic if you didn't have to be.
Rev DM |
Delaying Tavar. Lynore, go for it.

Sorry about that went out of town and thought i woudl have access but didnt
I cannot see the map but i am going to post, move me to attack caller 3 if i am not already adjacent
assassin's shroud and invoking it 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 no damage on miss
Shadow Storm:
melee 1, 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (16) + 21 = 37 vs ac; 1d8 + 12 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 12 + 5 = 18 plus 1 damage for each creature adjacent to the target, +5 damage if they are not adjacent to other enemies

Lynore moves to flank with Arishat and brings all her skill to bear, delivering a nasty blow to the now wildly out of tune Caller.
32 damage total I make that. Thanks a bunch, Lynore ... :)
Tavar turns his attention to the Caller once more, lancing it with divine light followed by a moment of utter chill. Under the onslaught, the Caller begins to fragment.
Lance of Faith (Ref). On hit Barel gets +2 to next attack v Caller.
1d20+17=37 - ugh. Crit. 18 radiant plus 3d6=17 cold damage. Jeepers. Why can't I roll like that for the monsters or my own pcs?
In a desperate attempt at retaliation, the howling choir tries to take down Arishat. Her noble demeanour seems to disconcert it.
Double Bite (AC) twice v Arishat (using AP). On hit target takes 10 ongoing psychic.
1d20+22=23. Joy.
1d20+22=24. This is a joke, no?
1d20+22=24. Sigh.
1d20+22=26. Right. That does hit.
1d10+7=13.
13 damage to Arishat plus 10 ongoing psychic (se).
Barel swings into action taking all the advantage he can of the Caller's weakened state.
Melee Basic.
1d20+24=37. Hits. 1d10+13=15
The Caller yet lives, but the fragments are barely intact. One good blow will finish the abomination.

Is 26 a hit against any of Arishat's defences? 29 AC, 28 others. If it is a hit there's an Immediate Reaction I can make, Blade Burst Trap, that I'll give to Lynore. After which Arishat drops. 14 hit points, takes 15 at the start of her turn.
Arishat |
27 hit points at start of turn, takes 5 necro and 10 psychic. Still properly upright with 12 hit points.
"Well, this is going well. Pull yourself together, Arishat, half of this is in your head." She fakes a strike at the remaining Caller, and as it reacts nods to Lynore to attack.
Inspiring Word on herself, Arishat spends a healing surge and recovers an additional 3d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 1) = 5 hit points, and makes a saving throw with a +2 bonus against the ongoing 10 psychic 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Commander's Strike, Lynore against the Caller. 1d20 + 21 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 21 + 2 + 1 = 35 vs AC, 1d8 + 9 + 5 + 5 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 9 + 5 + 5 + 5 = 30 damage
Saving Throw against 5 necro/psychic 1d20 ⇒ 13
Saving Throw against 10 psychic 1d20 ⇒ 4 in case the earlier one doesn't work.
Saving THrow against the Mark/CA 1d20 ⇒ 12

Arishat gives herself a stern talking to and points out a vulnerable spot to Lynore. The assassin needs no second bidding and drives an expert blade through the last remnants of the Caller. As it collapses, a final out of tune chord fills the room and then blessed silence falls at last, broken only by the rapid breathing of the companions. In the aftermath, you all feel strangely empowered, as though the removal of the evil in the altar has somehow enhanced your strength.
OUT OF COMBAT
5670 XP each, bringing you to 58,620 XP and level 15.
Upgrade everything now, but please keep surges and hp intact (bar the changes for level raises, if that makes sense).
Barel Dlode |
No sign of either Barel or Tavar I take it. Alarm bells are sounding slightly.
Sorry for the alarm bells...I took more time away from everything than I probably should have, but it was a great break. Barel is back and I will make sure he is checking/posting regularly again!
Rev DM |
No idea what's happened to Tavar, but I'll DMPC him for now on his old stats.
Tavar pulls out his rough copy of Njall's map and spreads it over the altar.
"So far we haven't seen any reason not to follow this. Although if Njall's right, there is a maddened architect somewhere in the middle of all this."
Reposted for reference. You are in the Unholy Shrine.

Lynore leads the way down the corridor and notices at once that the illusory marble fades almost as soon as the group leave the cursed chapel. Senses tingling, she rightly trusts nothing in this place.
And will therefore need to make a set of 5 Perception checks please, using your trap-finding modifier. It's hardly subtle, for which I apologise, but it will move you on faster.
Note that I'm flying back to the UK tomorrow and will be out of contact until I'm home again.
Rev DM |
Perhaps made more edgy than usual by her recent unpleasant encounter with the demented singers, Lynore's senses are not as acute as she would like. The assassin is dimly aware that something isn't right about the ceiling, but can't put her finger on what, exactly.
Ow. Anyone else care to help out here?
Rev DM |
I can accept Dungeoneering.
As bemused as Lynore by his recent experiences, Barel's usual acute awareness of engineering deserts him. Thom, on the contrary, has better luck.
Looking up, he follows the lines of the stonework and realises that it is triggered to collapse.
Disablement is possible, but you'd have to get up to the ceiling first. Athletics to climb with failure being an auto-trigger. Thievery to disable.
Rev DM |
You can use the flying hook.
Lynore shins upwards and fiddles with the ceiling. It's a near thing, but she manages to tweak the nearly hidden mechanism. Dust falls on her head as the ceiling re-settles itself without harm.
Dropping back down to the floor, the way ahead beckons.
Another two Perception checks please.

Sorry everyone but I'm turning in my character sheet. I am burnt out on all RPGs and am giving up gaming for a year or two.
Everyone here has been great but my overall gaming experience in RL has been tainted by casual hatred of the systems I liked playing, tainted so much that I'm quitting both. If the lingering vitriol between players of 4e and 3.5/PF has died down in a couple of years I might start playing again then.

Lynore takes a breath and tinkers cautiously with the floor. With a gentle crunch, the trigger plate subsides, leaving a small cloud of dust in its wake, but nothing more.
Picking her way towards the open archway ahead, she senses once more the jolting dislocation that heralded the group's arrival at the unholy shrine. Once more, the walls change, becoming dank and sticky, oozing with a horribly familiar necrotic slime.
The chamber ahead looks like a cross between a crypt and a laboratory. Several sarcophagi stand throughout it, and a single round worktable occupies the chamber's centre. Parchment, various decanters and beakers, bowls of herbal powders and strips of linen cover the table. A desiccated corpse, partially wrapped in linens, lies slumped on the floor beside the table. Upon each sarcophagus lies a similar corpse, partially wrapped and unmoving.
