Male D Fighter 1

My apologies, just got back from a friend's wedding in Roswell, GA. Didn't really expect to get invited after my last five submissions were turned down for other pbps :) Thrilled to be invited, and wanting to play if there's still room.

M Half-orc Monk (Martial Artist) 5 {HP 43/44; AC16(20), T16, FF13(17); F+7 R+7 W+7; Init+2; Perc+10} {Effects: none}

Wow, small world and all. A bunch of us in the Georgia area or connected to it somehow. And I just noticed I'm in the Legacy of Fire php with both you and Haldhin, Gunther.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Oracle of Life 4 [ HP: 39/39 | AC: 21 T: 11 FF: 20 | F: +4 R: +3 W: +6 | Init: +7 Per: +5 | 1st: 6/7 2nd: 4/4 | Channel: 4/5 EB: 4/4 | Effects: None ]

Haha, the cast assembled! It is time, gentlemen!

Male D Fighter 1

Ok, my noob is showing, what's the tracking post/dot thing? This would be one of my first Paizo pbps. Also, since I missed the initial salvo, should I just jump in, or post a flashback first :)

M Half-orc Monk (Martial Artist) 5 {HP 43/44; AC16(20), T16, FF13(17); F+7 R+7 W+7; Init+2; Perc+10} {Effects: none}

The tracking dot is just something that shows up next to threads that you've posted in to let you easily distinguish between the numerous other threads.

Gunther, glad to have you, and you are definitely still welcome to join!

Harold covered the tracking mechanism - it also allows you to click the "Campaigns" tab in your profile and have the threads appear there. That way you don't have to scroll through everything to find the correct place to post.

What I would recommend is go ahead and post a "flashback" introduction during the period when Gunther arrived at the house. In a separate post, you can catch up to the story as the group arrives at The Restlands.

And don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions!

Male D Fighter 1

Posted, Gunther isn't too chatty at first (CHA 7 and all).

Sorry for the lengthy posts, just had a bunch of box text to get through.

Feel free to ask Kendra questions - the best timing would be right after she gets the chest for you, before she goes to bed.

Male Half-Orc Wizard (Conjurer) 5 {HP 34/34; AC 15, T 11, FF 14; F+3 R+3 W+6/+8 vs. fear effects; Init+1; Perc+12} {Effects: Mage Armor}
In the Gameplay Thread, DM Haldhin wrote:
To conduct research, characters should roll any relevant Knowledge checks - arcana, history, local, planes, etc. Researching a topic requires 1 person to spend 8 hours on the task, but this can be divided up into several people; i.e. 2 people would require 4 hours, 4 people need 2 hours, etc. If divided up, each person needs to make a skill check.

Is it possible for multiple people researching the same topic to Aid Another on the Knowledge checks? For example, if Korvus and three others are researching the Whispering Way at the Professor's house, could Korvus (with a +10 to Know (arcana)) be the primary roller with the others making DC 10 Aid Another checks to each add +2 to his roll?

(I assume all discussion topics are ooc, unless otherwise requested)

Short answer: yes to aid another, but I determine the "primary roller" based on who gets the best circumstance bonuses to researching.

Long answer: there is a complex table containing the locations, topics, and various possible skills that could be used in research, as well as bonuses associated with each of those subjects.

Based on these criteria, the "primary" researcher is determined, and all the others who also roll become secondary and aid the primary roll. The good news is that it almost always works out best for the characters, since the primary is nearly always the character with the highest bonus. Occasionally though, another character may end up with a higher research bonus, so they become the primary instead of the character with a higher skill check modifier.

The problem with going into a long explanation is that the table is really difficult to explain or post, so I try to simplify the process by just asking everyone to roll, looking at the results, and consulting the table when/if I need it.

So, that's why I just asked for everyone to roll, sorry for confusing the issue, my intent is definitely to simplify everything for you guys in a way that won't have any negative consequences.

Wow, I am hilariously awful at Knowledge checks.

Ulfen Cleric 2/Heirophant 1 (HP 29/29; AC:19, T:12, FF:17; Fort:+7 Ref:+3 Will +7; Init+2; Perc+9)

Marco!

Polo!

Ulfen Cleric 2/Heirophant 1 (HP 29/29; AC:19, T:12, FF:17; Fort:+7 Ref:+3 Will +7; Init+2; Perc+9)

Haldhin posted in one of his other games but left us out.

Dad never shows up to my baseball games. =(

Male Half-Orc Wizard (Conjurer) 5 {HP 34/34; AC 15, T 11, FF 14; F+3 R+3 W+6/+8 vs. fear effects; Init+1; Perc+12} {Effects: Mage Armor}

Don't look at it that way! I think he's busy working on a long post to start our next day. Besides, we're his favorites!

EDIT: Hang on, I posted earlier today but it's not here. /grumble I'm seriously on it now.

Ulfen Cleric 2/Heirophant 1 (HP 29/29; AC:19, T:12, FF:17; Fort:+7 Ref:+3 Will +7; Init+2; Perc+9)

What are the odds this is going to come up in a future session with my therapist? =P

Ulfen Cleric 2/Heirophant 1 (HP 29/29; AC:19, T:12, FF:17; Fort:+7 Ref:+3 Will +7; Init+2; Perc+9)

I see it now. It's in your posting history but it doesn't display in the thread.

You should be able to copy/paste it out of your posting history.

Okay, re-posted. Let's try this again. :)

Ulfen Cleric 2/Heirophant 1 (HP 29/29; AC:19, T:12, FF:17; Fort:+7 Ref:+3 Will +7; Init+2; Perc+9)

I guess nobody is around on the weekends.

Ulfen Cleric 2/Heirophant 1 (HP 29/29; AC:19, T:12, FF:17; Fort:+7 Ref:+3 Will +7; Init+2; Perc+9)

Bjorn did, in fact, leave for his early morning workout.

I don't know if there's anything to see outside, but you did mention speaking up in your overnight summary.

I'm around, had family at the house longer than expected.

He might have seen some farmers starting their morning chores, but he didnt see anything that would have been unusual.

And I'm going to think on Bjorn's latest action and post reaction tomorrow. I didn't see that coming. Well played. :)

Male D Fighter 1

Nat 1 on the perception roll, sorry, force of habit.

Ulfen Cleric 2/Heirophant 1 (HP 29/29; AC:19, T:12, FF:17; Fort:+7 Ref:+3 Will +7; Init+2; Perc+9)

Ah, the old bacon grease in the eyes - a classic blunder.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Oracle of Life 4 [ HP: 39/39 | AC: 21 T: 11 FF: 20 | F: +4 R: +3 W: +6 | Init: +7 Per: +5 | 1st: 6/7 2nd: 4/4 | Channel: 4/5 EB: 4/4 | Effects: None ]

In one of my friend's games, a Nat 1 on a Perception roll gets you delusions you're sure are real.

Like our Samurai was sure there was a waterfall of sake where that wall used to be. He was unconscious for six rounds. We laughed for a good ten minutes.

Male D Fighter 1

Does Kendra have class levels, or just NPC levels? I'm wondering just how protective we need to be. Would our association with the Professor give us any insight into her experience?

Had an emergency with our dog last night and this morning so running well behind at work today. Likely won't be able to post until this evening. Apologies for the delay.

Gunther: In your game, she has NPC levels. You probably knew (or inferred) the Professor had a daughter, but you never met her before you arrived for the funeral.

Male Half-Orc Wizard (Conjurer) 5 {HP 34/34; AC 15, T 11, FF 14; F+3 R+3 W+6/+8 vs. fear effects; Init+1; Perc+12} {Effects: Mage Armor}

Sorry to hear about your dog, DM Haldhin.

Thanks. It was time, and we're okay, just a late night and emotional morning, followed by being slammed at work.

Like I've been telling my friends, if you have a dog at home, give it an extra treat tonight for me. :)

Ulfen Cleric 2/Heirophant 1 (HP 29/29; AC:19, T:12, FF:17; Fort:+7 Ref:+3 Will +7; Init+2; Perc+9)

Same here.

I hope everything worked out.

This, very much.

IRL stuff takes precedence, like always.

Male D Fighter 1

My condolenses. Take as much time as you need.

Just wanted to give a heads-up: I will be heading down to UGA-land for a family get-together from this Friday through Tuesday of next week, so my posting will probably be sporadic during that time.

Try not to get killed by the agents of the Whispering Way during that time... :)

Ulfen Cleric 2/Heirophant 1 (HP 29/29; AC:19, T:12, FF:17; Fort:+7 Ref:+3 Will +7; Init+2; Perc+9)

Nothing to worry about. Kendra will keep us safe. =P

I am apparently not getting updates about new posts from the boards, but I have reset the feeds, so hopefully that does the trick.

And agents of the Whispering Way may kill you, but they'll make you and undead, and that's kind of like living. :)

Speak for yourself!

Spoiler:
alexei haet undead.

I have posted a link to an Obsidian Portal site I created to provide players with easy access to information such as Player Handouts and Maps. The link can be found in the 'Campaign Info' tab at the top of this page.

On the OP site, you can find a map of Ravengro in the 'Maps' tab, with a legend in the 'Wiki' tab.

I plan to continue and add information as the campaign continues, but please let me know if you have any suggestions or questions.

Does Kendra accompany us to Gibbs' House?

Gunther Steinhammer wrote:

Yes, she's playing the part of the proverbial "pack mule" for now, but she is following you guys everywhere for the time being.

Ulfen Cleric 2/Heirophant 1 (HP 29/29; AC:19, T:12, FF:17; Fort:+7 Ref:+3 Will +7; Init+2; Perc+9)

Bjorn intends to stand his ground. How far from us are they?

Has anyone heard from Harold?

They are fifty feet away.

I sent him a PM, will let everyone know if/when I hear from him.

M Half-orc Monk (Martial Artist) 5 {HP 43/44; AC16(20), T16, FF13(17); F+7 R+7 W+7; Init+2; Perc+10} {Effects: none}

Sorry guys. Last couple weeks have been a crap shoot on time for me. Wasn't sure if I'd even have a job by the end of last week. New contract got awarded at the last minute to another company that came in and lowbid our contract to a point where I, along with many others, had to decide was it worth it working for them or 'Screw you guys, we're going home' (\Cartman). It's been ironed out for the moment.

No apologies, just glad everything is settled for now and you're doing well.

Male Catfolk Rogue (Cat Burglar) 1

I'll be gone for a few days starting tomorrow and I'll be back on Monday.

Feel free to NPC Oliar. He behaves like a typical rogue at this point (except using claws) and will try to get a flank whenever possible without taking too much risk.

Male Half-Orc Wizard (Conjurer) 5 {HP 34/34; AC 15, T 11, FF 14; F+3 R+3 W+6/+8 vs. fear effects; Init+1; Perc+12} {Effects: Mage Armor}

LOL! Bjorn's getting ready to try to catch a greased pig!

Ulfen Cleric 2/Heirophant 1 (HP 29/29; AC:19, T:12, FF:17; Fort:+7 Ref:+3 Will +7; Init+2; Perc+9)

Hmm...

Indeed he is. =P

Apologies for not posting last night. My wife and I are trying to adjust our sleeping schedule to better match our baby's schedule, and we both crashed early last night.
