It's our DM's call here, but after extensively playing a high level Summoner myself with a pretty rules heavy DM, I would cast my vote for allowing the spell to temporarily bypassing the rules on what's possible. After all it is magic.
DM Haldhin |
Sorry for the extended delay on the treasure list. My laptop crashed and I'm stuck using my wife's computer for the time being. I don't think it's the HD, so at least I can get my data back. I'm hopeful of having something posted tomorrow.
For reference, characters I've run in this adventure have ended up with around 6,000 gp each, excluding consumables. I've been using a zero sum worksheet so when somebody keeps an item, the others split the cost in relative gp. I'll also post that as well so everyone can see how much money they have after treasure is sold.
When I post the treasure and gp file, I will also post the Ravengro and Lepidstadt marketplace lists. These files represent all of the items available for sale to the general public. You will also have the opportunity to purchase one item that is not listed on either market list (with a value < 5,000 gp) at the beginning of Trial of the Beast. Please keep that in mind as you peruse the items for sale.
DM Haldhin |
I have uploaded three files in the shared folder: Treasure from the adventure, Ravengro Marketplace, and the Lepidstadt marketplace. Please note that the Ravengro prices include a discount since you are all heroes of the town.
For the Treasure spreadsheet, please note anything you want to keep in the Owner column. I'll go through and calculate everything after those decisions are made. If the group wants to keep something as Party loot, then just put "Party" in the cell.
For planning purposes, everyone should have about 4,000 gp in Ravengro, get another 2,000 gp in Lepidstadt, and a favor than can be used for either a free +1 enchant to a masterwork item OR access to purchase one item that costs less than 5,000 gp (you don't get the item for free, you get somebody to find the item so you can purchase it - useful if something you really want isn't available in the marketplace).
Let me know if there are any questions about the treasure or the marketplaces.
-----
When you are finished with Adivion, I have two or three more posts to make, then I'll start another thread for the next adventure - Trial of the Beast!
DM Haldhin |
It comes out of sell value.
If you keep something with a base value of 2,000 gp - then I deduct 1,000 gp sell value from your total, and add 200 gp (1,000 gp sell value / 5 other characters) to everyone else's total.
If the party keeps something with a sell value of 1,000 gp, then I deduct (1,000/6=166.67) from everyone's total.
Jean Whitemane |
I don't suppose we could pay for a +1 enchant to a masterwork weapon in Ravengro and then use our favor for a free +1 ability to add in Lepidstadt?
Barring that would it be possible to use my favor to find an enchanter willing to add Ghost-touch to a weapon?

Unfortunately, nobody in Ravengro has the ability to enchant items. There are only two NPCs over 5th level, and neither of them has the feats. Forgot to mention earlier, everyone gets a free Masterwork Transmutation spell though.
At the risk of giving too much away, you won't get much use out of ghost touch for a long time. Harrowstone was the "ghost" adventure. But that said, if you want it, there will be somebody in Lepidstadt to do it. I just don't want you spending the money thinking its going to get much use.
Leon Ravencourt |
So, to sum up-
1 free Masterwork Transformation spell.
1 free +1 enchant OR one free item worth less than 5k
4k credit in Ravengro (where magic items are more available)
2k credit in Lepidstadt (where magic is harder to come by)
Did I miss anything?
Leon Ravencourt |
If anyone's looking for another game, there's an interesting Recruitment thread happening.
basically, the GM wants 7 casters to play a Kingmaker game telling the story of the rise of a new generation of Runelords.
Jean Whitemane |
Not that I saw, it's yours if you want it.
I tried the Mythic rules while they were in trial and I found them to be a little more trouble to work with than they were worth. It certainly makes the game more super powered but some of the abilities made it feel like I was playing an Anime character. Wasn't really my cup of tea but each to their own.
DM Haldhin |

Yes, Father Grimburrow performs the spell for you in Ravengro.
1 free +1 enchant OR one free item worth less than 5k
No, you get a free +1 enchant to a masterwork item OR you get access to purchase any item with a base value of 5k or less. You don't get the item for free, you still have to buy it - the favor is the person will find it and get it for you, you just have to have the cash.
The intent is to provide an option for people to get something they really want even if it's not listed on the marketplace.
4k credit in Ravengro (where magic items are more available)
2k credit in Lepidstadt (where magic is harder to come by)
Not exactly, you'll get around 4K from selling treasure in Ravengro, but there are just a handful of items available. You'll get 2K more when you get to Lepidstadt, and there are hundreds of items available.
Do my answers explain it better?
Leon Ravencourt |
Yes, thank you.
I'm going to get my sword made masterwork, and then enchanted to +1.
That will leave me with 6k to spend when we get to Ravengrow.
My idea was that "he's always had it, but it just hasn't ever come up in game", so it could be easily retconed.
The idea is that the pommel/grip of his sword is a family heirloom, each generation replacing the blade and adding a new chapter to the story of the sword. Normal Wayfinders are made to hold Ioun Stones, allowing each bearer of the blade to customize it a bit for themselves, but it's actual purpose is to hold a Shard of the Shield if one is ever found. (potential plot point/quest reward for later in the game)
I could have it worked into the pommel in-game, but I think the family heirloom thing is more interesting. What do you think?
Firavel Mandorellian |
The knowledge of what we'll be getting (e.g. free MW transformation and eventually +1 magic) is helpful. I was wondering if I should move to other weapons, but if I MW my heirloom ECB (assuming I keep the proficiency) and then magic it, it'll remain valid for a longer period and I can think about feats related to it.
As for the items. I'd probably go for one of the mwk Studded Leathers and the mwk Thieves' Tools.
Magic-wise... I don't know, maybe the Ring of Protection for the extra AC since he's got Light armor and is primarily a melee combattant.
EDIT: We should keep the silver war razor and that silver hammer. They, along with the mithril dagger, are useful against those with DR/silver. Not that we will need it, but, given the opportunity, we ought to have weapons of various materials (cold iron, silver, adamantine, etc.) for those, hopefully, rare occasions we need it.
Mithias Mead |
Mithias will take a MWK studded leather I guess and the spell book, he can convert some of the spells to alchemical formulae.
We should see about swapping the silver light hammer for the silver morning star in the store, more people can use it.
DM Haldhin |
I have finished with my IC posts, and short of responding to questions or issues the characters may have in-game, we're officially finished with The Haunting of Harrowstone! Next up - Trial of the Beast!
I'm looking over the Treasure (Harrowstone) list but it appears only Firavel and Mithias have claimed items on the spreadsheet so far. Please take a look and if you don't want anything, please post here so I know you've reviewed everything. After everyone is finished, I'll run the cal
Also, Mithias, you are welcome to copy spells out the spellbook and then sell if you want to - you have a month to spend in Ravengro so you should have plenty of time to do the work.
Jean Whitemane |
I believe in the party working together so don't worry about that part Lysa. Jean has a breatplate already and I plan to use my money and favor to get a better one in Lepidstat. I'll just use my Master work enhancement for my current one and give it to you.
I know I'm rather blatantly meta-gaming here but I figure there's going to be more than enough time for this. Also you specifically stated that you were going to spend time to get to know the rest of the party better.
Mithias Mead |
Ok So here's how I see it.
Keep the two silver melee weapons for the melee guys Leon and Jean, they have also been using the keen LSword and flaming great axe, so leave it at that. Lysa wants the mithril Dagger.
Sell the hand axe, anyone who can use it has something better. Keep the mace, either Firavel or Mithias can use it.
Keep all the misc magic, consumables and wands as party stuff, because better looking at it, than looking for it.
Sell the mundane and remaining unclaimed mwk items.
Thoughts?
DM Haldhin |
And just so you know, the plan was to have the Professor mainly appear in the next adventure. Figured you wouldn't want to roleplay small talk and chatter as he gets used to his new "existence".
Leon Ravencourt |
Put your name next to the things you like. I put "Party Item" next to a couple things. We're definitely keeping them, we just have to decide who's carrying them.
Mithias, was there another Silver weapon? I thought it was just the hammer.
Haladin, wasn't that Flaming Greataxe a Large size weapon?
Firavel Mandorellian |
Hey Mithias, I'm a melee guy too, lol (and I think Jean is more of a switch hitter). That being said, I can't use the Silver Light Hammer +1, nor the masterwork Silver War Razor since they are both Martial weapons. I'm focusing on my heirloom Elven Curve Blade. I do have a few unused silver arrows, though.
Ravengro has a +1 silver morning star, which might be worthwhile for Fir to pick up, since it's magic, silver, bludgeoning and piercing (and all he'll have after magicking his blade is magic slashing for melee).
EDIT: Alternatively, if Silver isn't an issue, he could use the magic heavy mace, but that's 2 more pounds Fir would have to find to get rid of to stay in Light enc.
Sethis Reis |
Okay so Sethis will use the free MW upgrade to boost 'Rosie' his heavy Repeater and then use the free enchant option on it as well. There isn't much Sethis really wants on the loot list so feel to to sell it or if claim an item. Anyone mind if I buy the mithril chainshirt in Lepidstat and then possibly pay someone to enchant it?
DM Haldhin |
The journey is not specifically described in the adventure, so while you can find some riding horses in Ravengro, you can also assume a ride in a carriage or with a merchant caravan also gets you to Lepidstadt. If you purchase a horse in Ravengro, you get the discount as with other items.
I'm planning on updating and compiling the treasure list this afternoon so we can get final gp totals for everyone. Hopefully everyone can have their item purchases finished by Monday, but please let me know if that is a problem.
I plan to open a new thread for the next adventure and then mark this campaign inactive. I'll post here when the new campaign thread has been created.
DM Haldhin |
Okay, after a weekend of fighting with my laptop and taking care of the baby, I've finally managed to update the treasure list.
The totals are available by player on the Treasure sheet 'By Character' tab. Look at the green highlighted line. Here is a link to the file. Please post items for the masterwork transmutation and anything you purchase from the marketplaces.
Mithias, I currently have you keeping the spellbook.
I have also opened the next campaign discussion thread, you can find it here. After everyone has posted, I plan to make this version inactive.
