Mojo Sniffagem |
Mojo dashes and ducks under the gargoyle as he moves into position to help Lars. The goblin stabs the creature up its jacksie as hard as he can.
Gargoyle gets one AoO vs. AC25

Sorek and Mojo finish off the last two gargoyles. All that remain of them are 8 pair of black gems that were their eyes. XP=1600 each
Lomyldyr Dweo-Mercraeft |
Lom with gratefully accept the drink from Lars. "I was a fool to venture forward by myself. Let that be a lesson to us all - we need to stick together."
He returns his sights to the mausoleum. "Now, are we ready to go inside or should we rest and ensure we have all are resources before going in?"
Sorek |
Sorek detects for magic on the eye gems. Any magic? Worth?
"that was not the warmest of welcomes. Regardless...Let's continue. I wouldn't want to rest and recover in this graveyard anyway. Mojo lets take a look at this mausoleum and see if we can find our way in and see what this flock of gargoyles was guarding."
Sorek begins examining the mausoleum looking for traps, magic and a way in.

They radiate magic. How about an appraise check please? The doors to the mausoleum are locked.
Aggrammar Deepdelver |
"Now THAT was a fight" - Aggrammar chuckles - "And thanks fer that lad" - he nods at Sorek.
No appraise skill here :P
"Do we know if the other mausoleums are not packed with more gargoyles, and tha living dead? Maybe we should be takin' a look?" - the dwarf adds.
Sorek |
Sorek claps Aggrammar on the shoulder "Yes it was a FIGHT. For a moment there I thought the Gargoyles were going to fly off with Lom "
"Lomyldyr... Any idea what these gems are worth? BTW they're radiating magic. And Any idea what they do? .. Probably nothing good seeing as they were the damn beasties eyes "
do they radiate Evil
"how bout we look inside this mausoleum and then examine the others. . If there's a passage leading below we won't take it til we've searched the others... Sound like a plan? "

Arthas Sword of Ragathiel |
"Huh, I wonder if we are supposed to put their eyes in the little drawer and it will open up the crypt?"
"I agree about getting out of the open, but I think we are going to need to pace ourselves and rest while we can. I for one intend to sell myself dearly. We must stand against and destroy evil at our maximum capacity."
That seems very first edition-like.
Mojo Sniffagem |
"How much is Aggy?" asks the naive goblin. Before he heads off to search for trouble at the locked door, wiping blood from his nose as he goes.
"Dat door be locked, Master Sorek? If'n I be lookin', you be watchin' fer dem bad bads flyin' dun?"
Perception (+4 for hidden doors/+6 trapfinding): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28
Lomyldyr Dweo-Mercraeft |
Lomyldyr will study the gems in an attempt to discern their magical function.
Knowledge, Arcana: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 16
I don't have any ranks of appraise.
Sorek |
Sorek stands guard over Mojo as the goblin inspects the door to the mausoleum.
I'll watch your back Mojo. No flying beasties gonna sneak up on us"
Mojo has ranks in appraise. With a name like Sniffagem he better lol

Yes, they detect evil. When Myrick looks in the drawer he finds and iron key.
brvheart |
The stairs descend to a set of huge steel doors. No rust is present on the metal, as if time itself stands still here. Built into the doors is an intricate lock, which looks worthy of the most legendary dwarven smith.
The ornate iron doors are locked with a complex lock of superior quality.
Aggrammar Deepdelver |
"Nasty critters. Anyone need a drink?"
and he takes out his aleskin and wets his whistle.
"I'll take ye up on that fer sure" - the dwarf agrees.
"How much is Aggy?" asks the naive goblin.
"Say what now laddie?"
It seems ppls are quite close to their max HP, except for Lom and me?
After the drink offered by Lars, Aggrammar goes for his wand, and turns to Lomyldir - "They did a number on us boy - lemme take care of it"

Sorek |
Observing Myrick out of the corner of his eye while guarding Mojo "anything interesting Myrick? "
Asking Aggrammar Lom and Lars "I don't like the idea of keeping these gems tainted with evil. Might be dangerous. Could they be cursed? "
@aggy Sorek is topped off hp-wise

Mojo sighs and goes back to look at one of the gems with Lomyldyr. "You scratchin' your nog? It be 'bout color, if'n light goes through or bubbles, 'ow heavy it be an' las' but not so small it be bout der gems bin cut good. See!"
The goblin shrugs at the gems and hands his back. Then taps the elf on the arm, "jess 'member color, clarity, carrot an' cut." He picks at his teeth as he walks over to Aggy with his bloody nose.
"I gotten smacked two times by dem statues. Cun you be 'eelin' meself, Master Aggy. Please."

Lomyldyr Dweo-Mercraeft |
Lom smiles and nods at Aggy. "Thank you for the healing my friend."
Lom shrugs his shoulders as Mojo examines the gems. "I haven't any idea what they do - no good I'm sure. This is Rappan Athuk - everything is going to be evil ... and maybe cursed."
He then takes a deep breath and examines the stairwell and door. "Shall we proceed. Likely the key opens the lock. But, it seems a bit too obvious. Let's check carefully for traps."
Lom detects magic on the stair and door. He will scan the area for traps or secret doors. He will then use a charge on his wand of detect secret doors.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
brvheart |
You find no secret doors Lom and there seems to be a trap that will go off if you attempt to open the door without using the key, but you are not sure what it is.
Sorek |
@lars... Plan was to clear out all the crypts/mausoleums starting with this one before descending below the surface.. If that's cool with everyone
Sorek gets ready to attack anything that jumps out at Mojo as the goblin opens the door

The door opens. The key disappears.
The mausoleum itself is filled with damp, musty air. Dust covers most of this barren room of solid stone. Several broken and rusted weapons lie
on the floor along with the butt-ends of several used torches. The room’s sole feature is a large stone sarcophagus, on top of which stand two brass candelabras, each holding a black candle.
new map is up in Roll20
Lomyldyr Dweo-Mercraeft |
Lomyldyr will detect magic on the room before Mojo steps in. Lom will then follow the others in and will help search. He will again use his wand of secret door detection.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
Sorek |
Sorek concentrates on detecting evil, focusing on the sarcophagus at first as the most likely source of danger
perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22

The candles radiate magic and evil. Lom finds a secret door in the floor behind the sarcophagus.
Who else is entering?
brvheart |
South of the sarcophagus, between it and the south wall, is a secret door. This is a 10 ft. slab of stone, which may be removed by pulling upwards (DC 22 Strength check).
Myrick of Muir |
Myrick looks in, takes a few deep breaths of the outside air before stepping in.
"This is obviously a magical portal. I see the weapons and torches in the room and I cannot help, but think that they are from adventurers that once they stepped in here, never again stepped out."
Sorek |
The candles radiate magic and evil. Lom finds a secret door in the floor behind the sarcophagus.
Who else is entering?
looks like everyone is inside the room...and.......
Sorek |
Once everyone is ready to confront whatever pops out of the sarcophagus (if anything) Sorek will open the sarcophagus (he already checked for traps).
Sorek looks back at the group to make sure everyone is ready "3,2,1" and then opens the sarcophagus and stepping back away from it.
brvheart |
Please place yourselves were you wish to be but someone else needs to be on the other end of the sarcophagus lid helping Sorek lift it off.
