Works for me too. Since Olimpia and JJ are near the front, we can even try a sneaking option.
Figgy Greasefitter |
Springy can Fly so Figgy/Springy
Figgy pulls out some vials and hands them out as they go. "JJ I tried to make the one you like less like stale cat pee and more like old berries it is the best I can do right now. Olimpia the one that makes you invisible still takes a big like old Stale air." Figgy rattles off a few more things as they walk but then gets quiet, pulling out a flask of alchemist fire.
Jeremiah Johnston |
"JJ I tried to make the one you like less like stale cat pee and more like old berries it is the best I can do right now. Olimpia the one that makes you invisible still takes a big like old Stale air."
"Yuch..." JJ replied, slightly disgusted at the descriptions of the taste while taking the liquid from him and ingesting it. "Don't know how you know what those things taste like, and I'll never want to, but remind me to never ask you for cooking lessons."
Raktar Garnok |
"Maybe you two should take a sneaky look," Raktar suggests to JJ and Olimpia, "so that we know what we're dealing with before we rush in."
Dilana Hemlock |
"Lancelot, would you mind skittering over there and taking a look. Try and figure out how many there are and where the prisoners are. Just, whatever you can find out."
The little green scorpion clicks a few times and skitters off and out of sight.

I can speak with him and share an empathetic link. His intelligence is 9 so he can communicate what is going on pretty well. Oh his perception is +8 if you want that too. I just figure he is a pretty safe spy.

Thought we were getting close, so I hope GM doesn't mind a bit of retcon.
After closing in on the giant's hovel, JJ drank the concoction down and felt the effects immediately. Following Raktar's suggestion, he uses the local cover to conceal his position as he closed in for a better look of the area and the enemy.

The three males are seated around the fire they have going and are drinking messily. The Females seem to be arguing, Purple is yelling something at Teal, who is guarding the small cave at the back of the clearing.
Olimpia can just makes out the cries of children from the cave, Teal has a sadistic grin and is bellowing into the cave, provoking more cries of fear.
Teal. "Dinner! Dinner! Soon you be dinner!"
Purple. "Shut up! You spoil the meat doing that."
What are you doing now?
Figgy Greasefitter |
Figgy has more grenades to use, Olimpia can deliver them if she wants :D
"here is a cold grenade, Olimpia do you want to do what we did to Helion's guys before?"
Olimpia Beta II |
Buff now. Olimpia says as she drinks a potion of Cats Grace. Accepting the grenade and activating her magus ability to increase her sword to +, she adds I have to get between the female giant and that cave. But one blocks the entrance. Let her be everyone's range target. The children are in the cave. When the bomb goes off that will be your trigger. Ratkar, can you make my blade Keen again? She casts Shield on herself, drinks the infusion given to her by Figgy and vanishes, and then quietly moves out.
Stealth: 1d20 + 16 + 20 ⇒ (12) + 16 + 20 = 48
She will drop the grenade as indicated and position herself as shown. When the grenade detonates she will attack. Hopefully in a surprise round. Figgy, roll the grenade damage please.
Init: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Dilana Hemlock |
Not sure when to do this in sequence but Dilana is will start casting a spell as soon as it is appropriate. Nothing will happen until next round.
Jeremiah Johnston |
Waiting patiently for the signal, JJ had his Inferno pistol at the ready. Upon the grenade's detonation, he hastily darts out from around the corner to get into good position and capitalize on their enemy.
If we get a surprise round, just a 30 move action to get closer.
If we get all actions instead, I'll also prepare a shot for the first target that gets within 30 ft.

Since the grenade takes a round to detonate, would Olimpia get a standard action the round the grenade goes off? I not she does nothing that round. Also, Figgy, I think you can run at 4X speed if you are not in armor or lightly armored.
Raktar Garnok |
Hearing the thump of the grenade exploding Raktar begins to move out of cover, his chainsaw ready in his hands.
Surprise Round - Move Action to move 40ft.
GM_DBH |
Olimpia as you dropped the Grenade than moved you do get an action on the surprise round. The grenade detonating is the start of the surprise round.
Surprise round Sequence:
Olimpia gets an attack on Purple.
Jeremiah, Figgy & Raktar advance.
Dilana casts her spell.
Olimpia you can roll two attacks. 1st is the surprise round attack, then your normal one. Purple will still be flat footed to you.
Combat begins:
The party has the initiative so can all act before the Giants.
Raktar Garnok |
Raktar lifts his chainsaw and yanks on the starter cord. The weapon roars into life, the blades ripping along it's length in a blur of razor-sharp metal. Looking into the eyes of the nearest giant he shouts "You'll regret ever taking those children!" before launching himself into the fray.
Standard Action to activate my chainsaw (the only downside to this awesome weapon), Move Action to move 40ft.
Dilana Hemlock |
Dilana finishes casting and, for the first time, brings a medium Air Elemental into being in the clearing.
As the elemental appears she smiles and moves a forward a bit.
Olimpia Beta II |
Dilana. I think the elemental would get a full round of actions the round it is summoned. It move and attack or charge.
Surprise Round
Nearly deafened at the percussion from the closely detonating grenade Olimpia thinks of the children and forces herself into action. She slices into purlpe, hoping to end her before she can act and harm the children.

Teal slumps to the ground with a stunned look on her ugly face, her blood soaking the grass as Olimpia appears with a flash of her blades biting deep.
Raktar advances, the brutal roar of his chainsaw drawing the attention of the Giants.

Jermiah adds to Orange's woes by burning a hole deep into his torso with his pistol.
Figgy puffs as he jogs closer, muttering something about people with stupidly long legs.

The giant's club slams into Raktar with much greater force this time, even as it leaks stinking blood across the dusty ground. Stepping carefully again around the fire he slashes with his chainsaw, his loathing for the giant kidnappers powering his swing.

As the two blows slam into Bruce the elemental makes a noise like an air bladder deflating and dissipates. The Hill Giant was just too much for the poor thing.
"Poor Bruce, you did your job well if not for long."
Sliding a few more steps to the side Dilana's hands withdraw something from her component pouch as she whispers a word and launches a bolt of lighting at two of the giants.

Even after being barely being batted, JJ managed to swing around to reduce the impact and give the giant's brain some breathing room. He really needed to thank Figgy for those brews, even if they tasted off. With all of them dead, the slinger let out a sigh of relief and did a bit of gun play, flipping his pistol up and catching it. "That should do it. Let's get those kids out and grab what goodies we can before we find out if there are more giants out there somewhere." He said, keeping watch for more just in case.

As the last of the giants slumps to the ground Raktar turns his chainsaw off, not wanting to frighten the children. "Agreed, there might be more giants where they came from."
Knowing how his appearance - a muscled armoured man with extensive scars - might distress the children more, he waits outside for someone more pleasant to retrieve the kids. He puts his chainsaw away, protecting the toothed blade with it's leather sheath, and stands ready to carry one or two of the children home.
