Hey all, I am looking to check interest on a homebrew idea.

Rundown- you are all from a small town, you will start out with 1 NPC class but very quickly advance into your normal class depending on your town 'role' you chose. Every role has several different options, but similar equipment. (Most of your starting equipment will be given by me, with flavor input by you) you won't know what class options you are getting until told, once selected a role may not be selected twice however, if you wish to contest a role, you may. Your backstory and how you got where you are however, are completely up to you.

Dot.

Rorek55: Can Kenna use part of her starting gold to purchase another weapon? Or is she only allowed one weapon (75gp or less) to start with?

Decided to try rolling for a change:

4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 2, 1) = 10 [dropping]
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 6, 5) = 20 17
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 2, 1) = 11 10
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 3, 4) = 13 11
4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 6, 2) = 18 16+2=18 (+2 racial bonus to one stat)
4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 4, 3) = 16 13
4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 1, 6) = 14 13

Can work with those! I've decided to go with Swashbuckler (Flying Blade) with Kenna. Getting to work on character now.

I presume you want use to make actual chars at this point.

Is one new campaign with me enough for now? If you're glutton for punishment, I'd like to try for the wanderer spot.

@VinGoodman: A player has already voiced their preference for the Wanderer spot in the interest check thread. Just so you're aware. :)

Yep, Im that guy. Just waiting on the options to run down a character for Wanderer.

Thanks.

Traveling merc, please. :)

Thanks for the heads up. I think I'll hold off and let others hop in for now. Like I said, I'm just about to start a game with rorek here. No need to drive him nuts at twice the speed of posts :)

4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 1, 2) = 6=X
4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 1, 4) = 9=8
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 4, 4) = 16=13
4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 6, 5) = 21=17
4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 3, 6) = 18=15
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 1, 4) = 10=9
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 2, 6) = 20=18

Question GM would this class be available (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/3rd-party-classes/super-genius-games/drago nrider). Note that I'm not envisioning my character starting out with a dragon, he has through happenstance, chaos or some whimsy of the gods found himself in possession of a dragon's egg...

Hilarity ensues as he attempts to desperately hatch it and hopefully bond with it, a man with a dragon can build (or conquer) a kingdom after all...

@VinGoodman: You're a lovely person. :) I wish you luck in your other game with rorek55!

yes, but you must name yourself eargon, take the special farmers son role, and start out with no money, or items save your stick :P

I would not be that crass...or unorginal. So Dragonrider is a yes (just being sure)? Also are we going to add class levels as we go or are we going to "swap" our npc levels for pc levels (leveling up from "0" as it were)?

Silver Crusade

add, so anything you have from your NPC class adds on. and yeah, I will give it a try, if you are selected be aware I hold the right to veto anything I feel breaks things.

also, all updates for class roles are now in the campaign info, along with the traveling merc update

Looks good, just make sure to pick one of the two NPC classes.

You don't have to list out the cost of everything, however it does make it easier in me, thank you Rone. Also, keep track of your weight, encumberance will be enforced. At least early on.

Cool, thanks for the update. :)

He is a man of many minds. A polite man would say two, but the wise one would say many. A great scar across his forehead, the man has mismatched eyes, one blue, and one green, and dark hair that in the right light looks just a bit red. Skilled with the blade, the wiry man with pale skin came into town late one night, cloak heavy over his face. He always carries
his herbs in a pouch around his neck. Raised by Vudrani aesthetics, he does not know his true parentage, and only left for his journey of self discover about a year ago.

He dresses darkly, his gear worn from travel.He is a true vagabond, but looking for comrades, for the road is a great adventure, but adventures should be shared! He is sometimes reckless, often surprising even to himself, but loyal to those he calls friend, although often in a strange way. He always carries his special herbs in a pouch around his neck. He was not suited to the life of a contemplative, and so went out on his own.

What should I pay for my pet viper?

I'll be the Mayor.

Rory Bronson had a natural commanding presence that meant that the decision-making a group had to do usually came to him by default. It had been that way ever since he was a little boy among his friends. To command the respect of his peers when he was younger, he was sweet to adult women, quiet around adult men, and forceful everywhere else. When he became an adult himself, he found that even many of the town's elders listened to his ideas about how things should be done. If there's one thing Rory Bronson never lacked for, it was an opinion on how something should be done.

Now, as Mayor and with his wife, Kate, looking after him, he's learning more and more that others must have their say as well. His former bossy ways will no longer suit him in his noble occupation as leader of the town.

I'll be a minor Wizard when I become a PC class. I only know a few minor tricks, for now, and Kate always frowns at me when I try to show them off for guests.

Rolled up a 27point buy anyway lol.

Still working out how this site works I like this alias thing to save character details its pretty damn cool. Character has racial bonuses applied. I didn't include a feat since I understand we would get that at lvl 1

10g for weapon, one piece of light armor below 100g value, 10g for starting gear and gold.
Weapon - Darts x20, Dagger
Armour - Studded leather
Gear - Musical Instrument, common. (Clarinet)
5gp held

Jorm reporting for duty. Still ironing out the details, but his stats are in the alias; will finish him up by tonight.

Silver Crusade

let me go ahead and say, you gain all of the small bonuses I gave you based on your town "role"

Name: Eral Ferthenwood (aka Old Eral)
Race: Elf
Age: 354 (may be changed)
Role: Beggar
Class: Expert, becoming either a Rogue or Sorcerer

I'm at work on my phone right now so I'll get started on the numbers this afternoon. I just have a few questions for brainstorming today.

1 - Is crafting magic items allowed/feasible? I'm considering an Impossible bloodline sorcerer.

2 - Are you allowing age bonuses and penalties and is the age I chose a problem? I'm perfectly happy to change it if so.

3 - Would we be allowed to multiclass?

Silver Crusade

1- yes, later on crafting gear will be viable
2- sure, go ahead
3- you can multiclass into any of your other role specific classes, however with proper RP and background reasons in game others may open up.

Reposting my paragraph from the other thread.

The sheep were lazily grazing next to the stream. The young halfling Mikos Buckthorn looked them over...18, 19, 20, 21...wait, there should have been another lamb there with the black ewe. Well, they had been getting more adventurous lately. He whistled for his sheepdog Angus and hopped up on its back, beginning a circuit of the pasture. His sharp eyes noticed a broken fence rail, probably from last night's storm. That would need to be fixed. He hopped off Angus and crouched down. There...hoofprints in the damp earth. Just then he heard a bleating from the forest side. Sliding under the fence, he stepped into the shade of the trees headed toward the lamb. A big hawk was watching the lamb from a high branch. He reached for his sling, and took a stone from his pouch, aiming at the bird....

Never done a roll for stats here, seems appropriate starting from humble beginnings to see what nature gives me...
4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 1, 4) = 8 ->7
4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 1, 6) = 14 ->13
4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 4, 1) = 8 ->7
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 4, 3) = 14 ->11
4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 3, 5) = 18 ->15
4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 6, 5) = 17 ->16
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 5, 6) = 18 ->15
...hmm, 24 points, I guess that's not too bad.

So who of all of you voted for me? :D

Any chance a farmer could get Knowledge (nature) as a class skill?

Just repeating my entry from the other thread.

Name: David Cress
Role: Local Eccentric
Race: Human

David has been made fun of all his life. His pet viper is odd. The way he talks to it is even odder. What really sets him apart is how he claims that all snakes are talking to him. Sometimes they even seem to follow him around. He might have been exiled, or worse, if not for that time stopped a nasty viper from striking the mayor's daughter.

I will start as commoner then become a serpent sorcerer.

Checking in: the woodsman is still here :)

Rolling to see what I get.

4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 6, 2) = 18 = 16
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 2, 5) = 13 = 11

Hmmmm...I can work with this, but I might go with the point buy.

Rerek55, is the hunter class available to the woodsman? How about the slayer?

4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 3, 5) = 13 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 3, 3) = 13 = X
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 3, 3) = 17 = 14
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 4, 1) = 14 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 6, 6) = 22 = 18
4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 4, 4) = 15 = 14
4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 3, 6) = 16 = 14
Those should help compensate for the age penalties, now where to put that 18.

What do y'all think, a centuries old elf who has suddenly become magic (I'm between the impossible bloodline and the sage wildblood arcane bloodline) or an old rogue with more skills than he knows what to do with? If I put my 18 in Int it comes up to 23.

Up to you really. As I said, the beggar ( iirc that's what you selected) was intended for the rogue, but play whichever one ya want. Lol.

Also noticed noone has taken up the guard capt. Lol. That was the 2nd one gone behind mayor first time I ran this.

I believe rorek beat me to it, so I could switch to something else. What is left?

Open roles- guard captian, militiamen, um... Will add a few more

Courier
Shopkeep

So, new applicants may choose from

Courier
Shopkeep
Guard captain
And militiamen.

However, if you wish to contest somone for another role feel free. I think the max I will take is 7, though... Dare I say. If enough interest possibly two tables.

I think you're definitely going to get enough interest rorek, it's an interesting concept and people seem to like the sort-of prebuilt nature of the characters.

Sczarni

Could I maybe work up a guard captain and see which I like better?

Ariarh Kane's submission. This is Kenna, wondrous waitress in Rundown! Her stats and fluff are on her profile. :)

Please let me know if there are any blatant errors and I will correct them. Thanks, rorek55.

Apologies and thanks for the info. It's amended in my backstory now.

I'm afraid Jorm must bow out. Sorry for any inconvenience, but taking on GMing an AP is harder than I thought.
