All aboard the crazy train, full speed ahead!

Also, my dice rolls, for the newly created Ice Elf.

Stat: 5d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 6, 2, 4) = 22

So a 12,16,15,16,13, and 11. Looks like the point buy for me. :(

So I'm enjoying this game, I only have one problem. I feel like the lore is so expansive that I feel a little lost.

Tides, would we be able to eventually get a world gazetteer? For now I will go back and read older posts, but having one big doc could help.

Also I'm going to do a bit more in terms of world building, I'm going to send you a pm tonight or tomorrow with some ideas I'd like to pitch for both my characters.

I've gotta second this as well. I find myself drowning in all the info.

I can give you what I've put together so far, which is about 23 pages and keep working to flesh it out.

Some of the stuff I'm using for Zelrim's section is contained in old notes to myself that might not be very understandable to someone else. I can try to pick out some of the more coherent sections.

Some of it I'm making up as I get inspiration.

Just posted what I have currently written up. Why don't you take a look and tell me what it would be helpful -- what to add, what needs clarification, etc.

I think we should take a break for the weekend, and maybe a couple of days next week to get new characters together and let me try to get together any necessary setting information for everyone. Let's plan on trying to resume posting by Wednesday maybe

And, just to be clear, I have no problem with writing stuff up -- just tell me what kinds of things you want. I can work on it over the next week or so to get something serviceable in place.

One issue is that I have tons of stuff written up that just isn't going to be that important for this story, but it is very detailed -- I explained this to Zelrim via PM.

Some of the lore in his story about the surface world isn't really going to come up. I could tell you a bunch of details about the history of the Dragon Teacher Empire of the Kravaeans, the ensuing Imperial Schism, the conflicts between the Ottovolari Paraparousian Empire and the Warlock Gods of the Icehammer Glacier, the schemes of the Hidden Empire of the Skerrick and a bunch of other stuff, but I doubt it will be very relevant, even if your characters end up visiting the surface for a brief period at some point...

5d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 6, 1, 4) = 16 14
5d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 6, 2, 4) = 21 15
5d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 5, 5, 6) = 25 17
5d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 1, 5, 2) = 20 17
5d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 5, 4, 5) = 26 17
5d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 4, 1, 3) = 14 10

Hmm once more the dice gods love me. This is slightly less point than Satazia had but looks like the ice elf is gonna be a badass.

Updated the gazette again with history and cosmology details.

I'm going to try to write up sections on the Devonorian Empire, the Gorh'Tonh Legions, and Merceria for right now.

@Satazia, Zelrim is already mostly done with his twin, how is yours coming?

Does anyone have questions/comments about what setting info they need more detail on after looking at the file I have going so far?

I may send you a pm tonight, I have a few questions about some of the older history and maybe some way to contribute.

About halfway done, truth be told not 100% sure I'll be ready wednesday. I do have the next few days off though so we'll see.

To be fair, I'm a college student who just got off spring break. I had a lot of free time to sort my stuff out :D

No worries. We can add another day or two to let people get stuff together, I'm not in a rush -- it's more important to get everything properly in place. Also, this is, in the end, just a game.

Friends,

I appreciate all of your participation and I enjoy our group -- I enjoy making up the material for this campaign, but I'm starting to wonder if we're hitting a snag with that element, especially since we've already had some attrition.

I'm perfectly willing to keep going, but I do want to throw out the possibility I could run a different campaign in an established TSR world depending on how people feel -- if they like my DM style but are finding the set up for the present campaign challenging.

I also had an idea that we could move the current characters over to an established setting and recruit a few more players.

Does anyone like Dark Sun, Known World, Mystara, or Scarred Lands? I'd like to run one of those.

Please see if that link works. It’s a pdf for darksun-> pathfinder

Thanks for the link -- I've also seen this another link which updates the Athas.org file, does anyone have any opinions of which is better (they look like different attempts to do a PF conversion?)

Sounds like there's a least some interest -- my idea was that the characters would all be hurled through a portal that would modify them to a Dark Sun compatible role -- either adding templates or tech or converting to a comparable race etc.

I'd also want this group to join a native Athasian group -- we'd need some time to convert characters anyway, so I'd open a new recruitment and try to get like 3-4 more players.

I think it’d work better to darksun as darksun characters. Underwater fish-people on Athas = dried fish sticks

I'm not opposed to that either -- I just don't want to seem like I'm making everyone trash their characters. I'd like to DM for you fine people in a way that will work.

I kinda agree with Hrungnir, sounds like it could be simplest to retire these characters and make new ones, assuming Dark Sun is what we end up doing.

Mind you I don't have any particular preference. If you wanna convert our characters im down.

I don't mind which, I just don't want to upset anyone and make it seem like I'm throwing your characters in the trash can. If you want to make up new characters and join me in a new campaign, I'm down with that.

My current thought is a Legacy of Fire campaign with stuff from converted second edition sources like Black Spine and the Necromancer City of Brass for the final part.

I'd still be adding stuff/converting stuff, but I think the existing setting material may make it easier.

Map CG Female Elf Brazen Deceiver / Sound Striker Bard 2 | HP 14/15 | AC 14 / T 12 / FF 12 | Fort +0 / Ref +5 / Will +4 | CMB 1 / CMD 13 | Initiative +2 | Bardic Performance 7/8 (Inspire Courage +1) | Perception +8 | Spells 1L 2/3 | Low-light vision | Special: -1 vs Fear / +2 vs Transmutation

I'm good with new characters in a new setting; not upset by changing things up.

If we go Dark Sun, I have played the Bodizhen rules (Hrungnir's link), but haven't looked at the other ruleset.

Legacy of Fire also sounds good. I've never played it, so it would be a new and interesting challenge.

My only concern is making sure we know the rules for our characters and the setting ahead of time, so we don't have to rebuild them several times as new things are revealed. So, just tell us whatever you want the rules to be...

Original rolls, or the option of rolling again? Still Gestalt? What races/classes are you open to?

Setting Katapesh? Anything we need to know from Black Spine and the Necromancer city ahead of time? (If we need to do research, do you have links to your favored source material?)

I was going to basically allow anything as long as there's an effort to fit it into Dark Sun.

I like the conversion but I'm sad that there are no Pterrans or Aaracockra -- I'd need to find an equivalent b/c this busts up the power level so much, the races are like X2 RP as the normal Pathfinder races.

I was going to basically use the same rules we've been using for Gestalt , wound points, revised action economy, etc. I'll get a list of everything in the recruitment thread.

For setting -- Katapesh will become Tyr or one of the other Tableland cities -- any particular one that you think might work best?

I don't think you'd need to know anything about the Black Spine campaign ahead of time, or the Necromancer version of the City of Brass.

I really like 2e Dark Sun with all the new races and beyond the table lands areas. That's the version of the setting I'd be using (and also the one I own all the material for). So, the Dragon is dead, as is Kalak, etc.

I haven't heard from Zelrim or Itcaoijh yet, and I want to hear before I make any decisions. If they're down for it I'm going to open a new recruitment thread and see if we can get another couple of players.

For Black Spine, it involves Gith, and I might end up running a version of the Litch Queen's Beloved from Dragon Magazine as a part of that. They're similar adventures.

Sorry about that everyone, I've been moving stuff. My apartment burned down, so between moving all my sstuff and trying to accomplish homework. I'll happily sort characters out when I can.

I've heard from everyone except Ictaoijh now, and I'm going to assume that the answer will be the same, so please everyone join me in a new recruitment thread I'm going to post (let me know if you have trouble finding it).

Once everyone is moved over, do you mind closing this and the other Tides of the Accord thread? It's okay if you don't want to, but I'd rather just have the one live one to follow on my gameplay tab.

Yeah, that's fine

That’s rough! Ouch.

S*!*! Sorry to hear that Zelrim. Hope you and anyone else living there are okay.

Oooof sorry to hear it zel, glad you're not hurt.

It's a shame we're not doing an underwater adventure, I was kinda hoping we could just play our characters in a game that had an ocean. I'm really partial to forgotten realms. I'm not sure if I want to do a dark sun game and it kinda sucks that my answer was assumed to be yes when I was a sleep, don't really appreciate that but f*@~ it I guess.

Can we close this?

Before we close this I have a few questions away from the new recruits. How many are we planning on playing with and are we voting in players assuming all the original players of this game are in?

"Too much sanity may be madness — and maddest of all: to see life as it is, and not as it should be!" -- Cervantes

He said in the new thread that he was willing to take a dozen.

Missed this, holy s%#&e

A dozen is...about 4-6 too many for sanity. :P

Male Lazius Manus Geek/5 Undergrad/2

maybe not 6 too many but its certainly 4 too many.

I'm going to assume different tables or we're different teams at least?

"Too much sanity may be madness — and maddest of all: to see life as it is, and not as it should be!" -- Cervantes

Probably depends on how he does it. We never got into any group stuff in the old game, so there was no crowd burden. If he allows more, just means that yeah... we can split up at will. If he is willing to manage it all, I am not against it.

If you guys are going to leave this up for discussion, that is totally cool, but could you maybe move Zalona over to the not-playing-anymore area under the characters tab (however you do that) so that it doesn't show up on my gameplay tab anymore?

Normally I would just wait, and I apologize for the extra bit of work, but this game takes up a lot of real estate with all the extra links, so I'd rather not wait however many months it takes for it to time out.
