Sleeping Sword |
"Uh, yes, a fire break. Yes. Kristoff, you might dampen the earth around the hut? The rest of us can clear away any nearby vegetation. We don't want the flames reaching the trees."
Sleeping Sword lays Hemzel on the ground, and looks to see if there is any vegetation that should be cleared. If he spots any he moves towards it, sword in hand, meaning to chop it away.
Kristoff Briarheart |
Mhmm. Kristoff will spend the required time to make a perimeter around the hut casting create water until it's nice and muddy in a 20ft radius around the hut.
Kristoff again lifts his hands towards the sky and begins chanting and dancing, summoning a rain storm to protect the forest.
Kraicek Rab |
"Fire break's as good an idea as anything else, I guess. I have no way to put out a fire like this."
Kraicek will join the effort to clear brush and flammable materials from around the hut.
Let me know what kind of skill rolls you want for that
DM Snider |
A few minutes after the events at the hut come to an
end, a band of gnomes approaches the hut from the
south.
"What happened here? Are those Hemzels things? What have you done with him?"
The lead gnome begins to get mad and all the gnomes seem on edge.
Sleeping Sword |
"Huh? This is the doing of one called Cyflymder. He has murdered Hemzel. Alas we were too late to do more than chase off Cyflymder's lackey. We came to parley with Hemzel. Now we must avenge him."
Kristoff Briarheart |
Yes, my friends are right, I came to learn from the Protector of this great forest, now we must avenge him! says Kristoff in Druidic Kristoff will then show them the corpses of Hemzel and his wolf.
Diplomacy Aid: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Ethan Gallonica |
We didn't have anything to do with this, we only just arrived here.
Diplomacy Aid: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
DM Snider |
"We thank you for trying to help. I hope you can bring his killer down. He take this before you go and I hope it surves you well."
With that the little gnomes head off.
The left you with a wand of CLW.
It is currently dusk. You know the way the summoning pit from the journal. If you continue it will be morning when you arive. Do you camp or do you continue on?
Sleeping Sword |
"Huh, Is there anything of note amongst the possessions we have saved from the fire?
Kristoff, should we bury Hemzel and his pet, or do you druids cremate your dead? The fire is likely still hot enough. Perhaps you leave the bodies to decay naturally? They are, after all, only empty shells now."
Ethan Gallonica |
We should see him off as he might wish and then camp. I for one don't relish the idea of spending the whole night tramping through the woods in the dark. Ethan looks around the carnage on the hilltop. But perhaps we should find a camp a little way from here.
Kristoff Briarheart |
We must make him barefoot, to open the portal for his soul to travel, and burn him with his wolf friend, and his traveling gear. That way his transition into his next life can begin. Thank you for your understanding everyone. Kristoff will lay his armor and weapons on the ground. And begin carrying Hemzel back up the hill to be cremated. He will stay an hour to sit and meditate, and pray to Gozreh for wisdom, and to ask that Gozreh help Hemzel' soul in his transition. Afterwards he will meet back with his friends to help set up camp for the night..
Survival: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Kristoff Briarheart |
*Edit*Should be a +10 Survival for a 12 Total.
Kraicek Rab |
"I'm for camping. It's getting pretty dark out, and some of us can't see well enough to shoot straight. "
survival: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Sleeping Sword |
"Huh, you're all sure about this? I would happily guide you through the night. I see very well in the dark, and I have wandered far through wildernesses. Cyflymder has the lorestone, remember. What does he plan to do with it? Whatever it is, it cannot be good."
I'm for pressing on.
survival, for either camping or avoiding getting lost as appropriate: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Bahen Dayendrati |
"I don't care either way," Bahen says dryly, "My wounds will close soon enough."
"Zikkikai!" Bahen says as he hands glow with divine energy. He touches the raking wounds he suffered from inside the burning building.
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
"I've got torches and can create magical light if we're worried about things that go bump in the night."
Kristoff Briarheart |
Okay, then we must go North, to island. Hemzel says with sunlight and Druid Circle, lorestone gets destroyed. So we should leave now, to make it. Kristoff puts his armor back on, wears his weapon on his hip, and waits for the signal to move.
Sleeping Sword |
"Huh? Sunlight destroys the lorestone? Then we must leave right away! Snake-man will make light for those in need."
GM, is there anything useful in Hemzel's possessions that we saved from the fire?
Kristoff Briarheart |
Hmm, no worry human, I know this forest. I can take take 10 on survival for a 20, so we should be fine. FYI: DM Snider has deployed, so don't expect to hear much from him for a bit til they get settled in. Also might be a bit before he gets internet.
DM Snider |
The thick trees, brush, and brambles of the Verduran Forest finally give way to a glassy lake with a small tree-studded island just thirty feet offshore. An improvised bridge of mossy logs stretches toward the island from the near shore, though some of the trunks have tipped nearly vertical into the water, leaving gaps along the makeshift bridge.
Footing on the slick log bridge is difficult (requiring
DC 10 Balance checks to move at half speed), and the gaps
in it require either Swim or Jump checks to cross. The
lake is 10 feet deep.
Go ahead and move yourselves on map across the lake
Bahen Dayendrati |
Balance and jump are both under acrobatics in PF, right?
Bahen will stow his shield and slowly and carefully take his time across the river.
Taking 10 for 10+2-1 (ACP) for an 11 to balance
acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (17) + 2 - 1 = 18
"I'll throw a rope when I'm on the other ssssside," Bahen says, his serpentine tongue slipping a bit.
Sleeping Sword |
Sleeping Sword keeps a close eye on his footing as he slowly moves across the log bridge, walking with the grace and purpose of one who has endured years of monastic discipline.
perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
acrobatics, take 10: 10 + 2 = 12
"Huh, take care snake-man!"
Ethan Gallonica |
Ethan scans the water for signs on anything dangerous lurking within.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
If all seems clear he pauses, focuses his mind, and fills himself with psychic energy. Slipping into the lake he strikes towards the other side with powerful strokes.
Ethan spends a point of mental focus to increase his speed by 30 for a round, he then swims across the lake, taking 10 for 10. He swims half his speed as a full round action for 25' of movement. He will finish crossing the following round provided nothing grabs him. This assumes the lake is calm water, if it looks rougher than that he may reconsider.
Sleeping Sword |
"A frog in a well does not know the great sea, young woman."
Kristoff Briarheart |
After everyone goes Kristoff will follow. Hmm, don't like crossing on logs, not natural.
Balance: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (18) - 2 = 16 Kristoff eyes the water carefully for any creature before swimming to the next log. Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9 Or noticing anything out of wack, Kristoff crosses.
Can I take 10 on Swim for an 11?
Kraicek Rab |
An awkward moment passes as Kraicek and Kristoff both wait for each other to cross. After a few seconds Kraicek shakes his head a little and step out onto the log to cross.
Acrobatics, take 10: 10 + 2 = 12
DM Snider |
Sleeping sword notices two traps up above, with trip wires on the bridge.
before moving can anyone disarm or will you all try and by pass.If you bypass some of you should roll instead of take 10
Sleeping Sword |
"Huh, trip wires. Someone's laid traps ahead!"
The old man looks back at Sara and grins.
if it looks too tricky to jump over the tripwires then Sleeping Sword elects to swim ashore instead. Assuming "Glassy lake" indicates still water. Take 10 on the swim check for 13 total.
Sleeping Sword |
"I have to explain it to you? Huh. Had you rushed ahead of me you would likely have fallen foul of the traps, heedless of your surroundings. You are young and strong. But the flower of youth fades. Take time. Appreciate what is around you."
Sleeping Sword |
Apparently quite used to the disdain of others, Sleeping Sword pays no mind to Sara and retrieves his rope and ties a loop around one end.
"If you fellows in your armour view the trapped log bridge with trepidation, catch hold of this rope and I can pull you to shore."
With that the monk throws his rope towards those on the far bank, following Bahen's good advice.
Kraicek Rab |
"Thanks, that's a good idea."
Kraicek stows his bow and jumps into the water, pulling himself along the rope to the other side.
Swim take 10 for 10 if necessary
DM Snider |
Suddenly, a high staccato voice cackles maniacally and calls
out from the island.
“Too too late, filthy intruders! All your prancing through my
beautiful forest, and nothing for you remains! The beautiful,
beautiful sun will do my job for me, destroy your precious
lorestone as soon as it rises, and you are failures, humans are
always failures, always always.”
new map is up. sorry for delay
Bahen Dayendrati |
"As I am not a human, I do not disagree with you, but as not human, I may ssssucceed." Bahen says, "Ssssshow yourself and face the Serpent's servant." The vishkanya draws his shortspear.
Sleeping Sword |
"Cyflymder, huh? You make a lot of assumptions. I am both more and less than human, and I rather agree with my scaly friend here. Humans are not always good or decent. Sometimes they need to be brought to justice. But neither failure nor injustice are uniquely human traits.
The Way of the Sleeping Sword teaches us to seek peace before war. Surrender the lorestone to us Cyflymder, and learn to live in harmony."
Sleeping Sword consumes his potion of Mage Armour. AC=19
Ethan Gallonica |
Ethan scrambles up the bank onto the island. You don't even know us and yet you judge us, please, come out and talk. We are not your enemy
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Kristoff Briarheart |
Hmm, big words form such a little voice, we druids don't take kindly your actions, you will be punished! Kristoff draws his club and waits for someone to show themself.
