I rolled Zoli's perception for listening, as well as for looking for traps in Roll20. Feel free to review the chat log for those results.
Zoli listens at the side door and windows and hears nothing. She even goes so far as to try the door, but it is bolted firmly from within. She then makes her way to the front porch, but quickly notes the presence of a multitude of rusty saw blades rigged to pressure plates cleverly hidden all along the porch. One false step would send them all into action, and likely stab anyone unfortunate enough to be on the porch! Fortunately, after a few minutes time, she is able to disable the pressure plates and nullify this nefarious trap.
She then moves to the door, and scans it for any signs of traps as well. Seeing nothing, she moves up to listen...and then falls prey to the trap she overlooked hanging above her! Concealed among the hanging bone-chimes were sharpened bone spurs mounted on a hinged rack that swung down and impaled the unfortunate halfling in her back. The rack had four spikes in total, and three are now firmly lodged into Zoli's upper back and shoulders!

Spike Trap Confirm: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22

Also, you hear nothing from within at the unlocked front door, though you do see some light shining through the cracks in the boards of the windows by the front door, as well as through the space beneath it. As you post that you are moving through the house, I would like each of you to move your own tokens to where you would be standing in each room as you progress. If there are any relevant Perception checks to be made, I will roll them on your behalf, first by relevance, then by order of character appearance in the Character List page.

"I appreciate the offer for healing, but for now I'm fine. This wound is just a flesh wound - and those are easy enough to fix." Theodric sounds a bit pained as his wound smokes and sizzles as it heals. Nevertheless, he remains stoic and follows the group in Zoli's recommended marching order, his sword drawn.
Marching Order looks fine by me. Theodric would have his sword out as we moved forward.
Zoli Tileani |
"Ooiks! Thanks. A bit of a bruise to my professional pride as much as anything."
As her friends help to pull the spikes out of her back, she adds, "It seems the addtional false life that my Sihedron medalion grands took most of the brunt...though a bit of light curing would do me well. Or a tap from that wand of yours." she says, nodding toward "Marcello". "Our old friend Xamarath used to use one of those. It always felt a bit 'itchy' to me, in an evilish sort of way, but it was awfully handy to have bubbling about me as I headed into danger."
DM Thron |
Once the door is opened, the group can see into the front chamber of this farmhouse. A mangy bearskin rug lies before a tremendous hearth set into the wall, its pained visage still snarling at whatever cruel hunter took its life. A huge couch haphazardly upholstered in animal hide and human flesh, replete with a collection of talons, monstrous hair spider's legs, fox heads, and human hands and feet, sits to the west.
Zoli Tileani |
Zoli shivers at the sight. "This place is a pig sty! Keep close behind me. With two traps already...who knows what else lies ahead."
She slowly and methodically tiptoes to the next door, looking for traps along the way, and (if she sees the floor and door to be safe) listens for what might be beyond.
Theodric Rothnt |
Theodric looks at Zoli as she asks her question about his wand. His plated visage stares at her for a good and awkward ten seconds in silence, before he nods and brings out his wand to tap her with. He then slides the wand back into his wrist sheathe.
Zoli Tileani |
"Thanks." She says, patting "Marcello" on his armored thigh. "You're alright. And that's tingley."
EDIT, based on conversation & roll in Roll20
As Zoli pats him, her eyes turn to saucers. "Are you a Hellknight?!" Then, recovering from the surprise she lowers her voice again. "That tower, that's the Order of the Pyre--the ones who hunt witches and whatnot. What's up with that?"

The group all begins to file in behind Zoli, spreading out and taking in the scene with varying degrees of wonder and horror. As Zoli nears the door, she notices that the floorboards around the sofa appear slightly wider spaced than the rest of the room, but before she can say anything, they give way!
The whole area appears to on some sort of hinge system, as the floor beneath the sofa falls flat against the northern wall into the floorboards, revealing a chute lined with sharp spikes!
Shalelu and Kibb are unable to avoid the trap, and fall tumbling into the hole and down the chute. The couch must be bolted to the floor panels, as it does not follow the ranger and firepelt down the hole. From wherever the pit leads, you hear a strange roar, and then a series of screams...

Answers given in Roll20: the pit is still open, you can see a curved chute lined with tons of sharp spikes, and there is some light from wherever it leads.
Zoli Tileani |
Zoli turns from the momentary distraction of seeing through "Marcello"s illusion and is horrified to see Shalelu and the firepelt falling down into the pit.
"Dammit. Noone step anywhere I haven't checked." She says. "Or maybe Setsu needs to summon a monkey to touch everything before we do! What's with this place?!?"
She bends to look down below and calls, "Shalelu! What's going on down there? If we toss you a rope can you climb out?" I hope that roar was the firepelt...
Eugeni Silva |
"F~~+!" Eugeni growls. "Don't just stand there!" he continues, before covering his face and neck with his arms and leaping into the pit.
Full defense if possible, then jumping in.
Theodric Rothnt |
Theodric looks at the startled halfling with annoyance, then sighs. ”Its a long story, and its probably best that we don’t discuss it here. If you insist, I’ll tell it to you at a later date. For now, let us focus on the task at hand.”
He is startled when the floor opens up and drops the cat and Shalelu down the spiked pit - but nothing startles him more than to see Eugeni jump in after them on his own accord. He steps forward, one hand clasping Zoli’s head, using her as leverage as he leans carefully over the pit.”You idiot, do you want to share their fate?” he yells down the pipe. ”Damned fool. Well we can’t just let them die now can we? I’ll go check to see what's down there.”
He sheathes his greatsword and reaches behind him into his worn backpack, easily finding what he needs right on top: A rolled up scroll with a black ribbon tying it shut. He undoes the ribbon and unfurls the scroll. Holding up in front of him, he speaks the words of power in the spidery language of magic, and the arcane writing on the parchment begins to glow. As he finishes, the writing glows brightly for a moment before fading entirely; his body begins to take on a smoke-like texture and he quickly becomes nothing more than a gaseous cloud of vapor.
In his new form, he floats down and heads into the pipe, the jagged spikes meaning nothing to his insubstantial body.

Having watched Eugeni crash down the chute, Morythine winces. "That looks painful." Looking at Setsuna and Riley, he asks "Have any of you got any magic that mimics Marcello's little trick - but a spell that would affect all of us?"

Zoli casts a quick spell on herself before diving into the pit behind the others. She narrowly manages to push herself away from a spike before also landing in the basement below.
This damp, steamy room reeks of rotting vegetable matter. Pools of mud and stagnant water dot the mossy floor, and the walls are caked with thick swaths of puffy fungus and mold.
Laying in a bloody heap on the floor is the firepelt Kibb, it's body torn viciously from the fall. But what dominates the scene is the monstrous, plant-like monstrosity in the center of the chamber, holding Shalelu in its massive "jaws." She is visible only a moment, kicking and screaming, as the thing swallows her up! Meanwhile, it lashes out at Morythine with a pair of fungal tentacles, one of which wraps around the dhampir and squeezes him tightly!

Eugeni feels the continuing effect of the poison wear off, thanks to the apparent spell the feline form of Riley managed to cast while nuzzling him with his head. Shalelu takes the moment to pull a wand from her hip and mutter a command word, and some of her wounds begin to heal.

Eugeni Silva |
Eugeni fires another volley of arrows at Hucker. His first two shots hit the ogrekin in the face, one piercing his left eye. Eugeni grins and looses his concentration and his last shot ricochets off into the ceiling.
