Johan if I understand correctly Trunau is basically a three leveled town. We started at the top level and lit the beacon there. We've just moved down a level to the Inner Quarter which is a smaller choke point area to keep breaches in the lower quarter from making their way up to the top level. The beacon here has been taken apart and, as half of it is on fire anyway, probably isn't needed.
The final beacon is in the lower quarter near the base of the hopespring. So we're clearing the choke point and getting things under control here and then we need to take back the gate to the lower quarter so we can do the same ther eon our way to the beacon.
Capt'n how do you want us to handle movement for this section? Should we just let you know where we want to go on the map or should we move our icons and you can adjust as needed if we need to drop to initiative? I would suggest, if everyone is ok with it, that we all assume we're moving as a fairly tight group (so if someone doesn't get the change to move their icon we can assume they are with the party and the GM can place them in a place that makes sense).

An excellent description Corentiin, Thanks! I did not catch the 3 tier thing at all and what you say makes good sense now. I concur on at least semi tight group - certainly within a 20' radius.
GM Captain Trips |
Yep, Corentin is correct. There are three levels, starting at the north, which is the lowest, and working their way to higher and higher tiers, each separated by gates to create choke points. Trunau is on a hill, but it has a natural slope to the highest point which is at the southern end of the city. Basically, starting at the upper city, you have to pass through the two pairs of gates in the inner city, through the chokepoint, to get to the lower city where the hopespring is.
Because this section is essentially many different challenges and encounters in one area, think of it like a dungeon, with each structure being a possible room to explore. Many enemies are not on the map, but assume there are humans and orcs all over, fighting minor skirmishes. For ease of play, those battles are not taken into account and can be ignored.
For movement, give me an idea of where you are headed by placing your token over a specific building. That will let me know which encounter to run, and move from there. If there is an encounter on the way to that structure I will back the group up to where they would need to stop.
For simplicity, let's assume that Corentin is leading the party through the inner city, so his token will be the one I am reacting to. Everyone else is assumed to be sticking fairly close unless they say otherwise. Because of the nature of this part of the book it would be very easy to turn one encounter into three at once, so you will want to stay fairly tight together!

The the way, have I mentioned that I hate when Paizo makes maps of areas where a square is 10' instead of 5'? Makes it impossible to line things up in VTT. So there will be some wierd parts to the map. Just stick with the squares you can move into as the real ones, and somewhat ignore the ones as they appear in the drawn map.

So as you all may have noticed over the last couple weeks my posting has been rather sporadic. As it stands my life is in a bit of a mess between moving, looking for a new job, some legal proceedings and my wife having recently had a pretty hefty medical procedure. All in all I don't have a lot of mental bandwidth to keep up with my games at the moment and I don't forsee that changing until at least the middle of June if not longer.
As such, to not hold you all up I will step down. Maybe at some point in the future I can join back up with you all. I've had a lot of fun and was really looking forward to seeing how this game progressed but I don't want to hold you all back while I get things sorted in my life.
GM Captain Trips |
Getting things caught up this morning. Should have a post up shortly.
As for Bellanie, this obviously isn't the greatest place to add another character, but I wanted to get your take on running as a party of 5. I have some potential applicants in mind if you all did want to look at picking up someone, but I'll leave that for your to decide. If so, I can work out the details.
Corentin the Younger |
I'm ok with five as well but don't mind bringing in another. Actually during the battle might be an easy enough place to add someone related to the town. I figure everyone is out fighting so simple enough to run into someone fighting some orcs, help them out and have them stick with the group.
Gizsmith Glitterbyte |
Five is fine, but if you have a good candidate bring them in. Rogues are fun, but hardly necessary. Someone should pick up disable device though.

Szacha is a believer in truth and straightforwardness. Such figments and glamours are a blight upon the land and must be purged. Just like those draconic windmills his mentor Don Quixote slew so heroicly.
GM Captain Trips |
Sorry I'm lagging behind today. Busy days for me today and tomorrow and I haven't had time to push a post forward. Trying to get one up before I leave work for the day, but people keep bothering me! :)
Won't be posting tonight, its our 1st anniversary and I need to be a good and attentive husband. :)

The chanting orc pulls out a scroll from somewhere on its person
And so the grand discussion on where orcs keep their scrolls began...
Corentin the Younger |
I believe we have a pile of potions from the last batch of orcs. Additionally this group might be similarly equipt. I'd say we down some liquid healing and push on.
Gizsmith Glitterbyte |
We have a wand of CLW with 28 charges. Also a bunch of potions.
@GM: DO you mind if we just take the average for out of combat healing instead of rolling, eg. 5hp per wand charge?
Also, is what is left on the loot list things that weren't sold? What about the gear Bellanie had. Did that just go poof?
I don't mind tracking loot, but if I do, I'll be using the much more streamlined template that I use in my other campaigns.
Johan Fletcher |
Just want to point out that potions are more valuable than charges from a wand of Cure Light as anyone can use them. They also cost a lot more at 50 gp per potion versus 15 gp per charge of a wand of cure light.

Just a head's up, I'm heading to Origins this week and will be there from Wednesday to Sunday supporting Pathfinder Society events there. I will be very limited in posting but I'll try to get something up at least once per day if I can manage. I return Sunday night and should be back in full swing next Monday.
Sasha the Mouse |
I have a convention this weekend and will likely not have a chance to post Friday through Sunday. Please bot me as necessary and I will catch up when I return.
GM Captain Trips |
Just wanted to let everyone know this morning that my schedule at Origins has been far more harsh than I anticipated. Been waking up at 6, getting to HQ by 7, working with the PFS players till around midnight, then getting back to the hotel and passing out. I woke up a bit earlier this morning, sleep be damned, so I had time to get this message out to all of my groups. I have free time tonight, as I'm open for our last slot, so I'll be getting an update out to my games then. Thanks for being patient! :)
Corentin the Younger |
If you need us to send in an extraction team just key the prearranged code into the discussion thread :)
Johan Fletcher |
I was traveling with family last week. I was sure I would have time to post to my games, but did not. Sorry for my absence. I am back now as well and am working to catch up.
Gizsmith Glitterbyte |
Here's the loot list I've been maintaining. This is what we found since the raid started, plus a couple of things that I know that weren't sold from the previous loot list. loot list linky
I'm super chill when it comes to loot, if you want something, let me know, add it to your sheet, and I'll adjust the list.
Of current note, we have 8 potions of CLWs and 2 of CMW. I would suggest that Sasha and Corentin take one of each.
