OK, I've updated the loot tracker.
BTW, I've mentioned this before but I'd love to have someone else be an editor for the tracker too, for times when I'm too busy. If you're interested PM me your gmail (or google account) and I'll add ya.
Zoli Tileani |
I leave tomorrow AM to go camping. Back Sunday night.
Odds are I *don't* get a post in before Sun or Mon...but I'll try if possible.
Zoli Tileani |
OK, loot tracker updated.
Thron's off work until Wednesday. Let's go kill Mokmurian and his army of giants!!
(Or, you know, convert them to the worship of Desna and the betterment of all Varisia.)
Morythine Ettes |
Friends, I think that this should be the point where Morythine departs the party. Much as I enjoy this game, which I’ve been part of since the beginning, I’ve struggled of late to keep tabs on it. In a week, I’ll be starting a new course which I’ll be doing in conjunction with full-time work, and I’ll have even less free time.
I think Morythine’s brief exposure to the positively aligned world has been a critical blow to his fragile psyche. Whilst for some, it might be an opportunity to finally embrace light and friendship, I think it suits me better that this be the moment where his demons get the better of him. His distrust of Rilee, his encounter with Father Zantus have been thoroughly misconstrued by the dhampir as efforts to undermine his place in Sandpoint and among the Rangers.
Ultimately, I intend for Morythine to leave the party at this point, preferably by having Rilee turn him back into an eagle and surrendering his mind to having a simple, trouble-free, bird brain. Of course, she may not be able to do that unless she has a spell slot free (and wants to ‘waste’ it). If he can’t convince her, he’ll just walk out of there to whatever fate awaits him. He’ll certainly bring up what happened to Shalelu to make Rilee feel properly guilty.
I still want to make a few post to see Morythine out. If the party wants to move forward with the adventure, we can spoiler them.
Rilee Stormborn |
I'm very sorry to hear that.
I'll swap out the spell, no problem. We can say I've kept one on hand during the journey in case someone needed to turn back and forth.
Looking forward to the final rp. This will be sad, both in game and out.
DM Thron |
Well ain't this some bummer news to wake up to...I'm gonna be sad to see you go, Mory. But as Zoli said, I understand how life can get in the way. So far it's done so to me to the point that I'm down to this and one other game in total.
It's been a blast and pleasure having ya in the game, and should you wish to return at any point let me know and I'll think up a suitably epic return post for you (or another character should you desire it).
Zoli Tileani |
Lurking with CDL (and maybe Stalwart).

BTW, I have this vision of Mory-bird eventually coming to worship Gozreh and having his NPC bird-Cleric levels switch to the god of nature.
Morythine Ettes |
Thanks all for giving Morythine a good send off. I'll leave it up to Rilee to decide whether her flirtations triggered an interlude before he flew away. Thron, thanks for the open door of a return. I'll be keeping track of the game as much as I can, and should life permit me, might take you up on the offer.
Best of luck to all for the rest of the adventure; now go trash a few giants!
Zoli Tileani |
Thron, ugghhh, sorry for the s%&@ty night. I know that a s$~$ty workday for you (as an ICU nurse) is on an entirely different plane than a s##$ty workday for me.
Before I post:
- Can I assume that the wyvern who just attacked my pet dire batRilee is Full Attackable by me?
- Any mechanical effects from me being on Rileebat's back?
- Zoli's (of course) considering leaping onto the back of one and fighting it from there. I assume that's a terrible idea, but it would be SO FRIGGING COOL if it worked. Before I decide, how does one attempt to stay on? If it's a grapple then I think she'd know the plan is doomed. If it's Acrobatics...she might actually have a shot at it.
. . .
Now OFF topic but have you all ever read this power level of the gods thread?
I love these bits of world flavor. When you've got some time, I think it's worth it. I mostly just read all of James Jacobs' posts in it, plus spot reading a very few others.
Lots of interesting tidbits, like that Pharasma is (canonically) the most powerful deity (at least of those yet named)...but folks in Golarion probably don't know that.
Setsuna Kailani |
@Thron, how quickly could Setsu have gotten to the cave if she went about 60 feet a round? Within 10 minutes?
@Zoli: If Thron approves, then I'd chop up one now as fast you can before Rileebat most likely retreats. I can then Air Walk you next round. I just reread the text of the spell, and it turns out that you only move half speed when going up or down. Otherwise, it's full speed ahead, so Setsuna would've caught up much quicker than I first expected and thus could still have Paragon Surge active.
As for gods, I guess for this canon, Pharasma exists independently of Azathoth and his dreams. In the Lovecraft Mythos, all of existence and reality is the result of his sleepy imagination. No one sans maybe Yog-Sothoth even comes close to his mad power.
Zoli Tileani |
Re Setsu speed, I don't see any reason we wouldn't have all flown at your speed. We knew we were going to a potentially dangerous place. Zoli, Eugeni, and Rilee would want to arrive together with Setsuna because we're smart enough not to leave 1/4 of the party behind for no good reason.
Re Gods, Jacobs also says at some point in that thread that
"Also, just because a deity's mythology credits them with making something doesn't mean they did. It just means their worshipers think so."
and then
As mentioned above, this origin story remains valid. As valid as ALL origin stories for the creation of reality and all that. They all tell different stories. Which one is "right" is left to the individual to choose. That's why it's a matter of faith and religion, and not one of history and science.
He says this in reference to myths of Apsu and Dahak (who are said to have created the universe) and Asmodeus (who also claims to have cocreated the universe)...but I'd imagine it applies to Azathoth.
I also tend to assume that (as Jacobs alludes to above) religious myths have room to be contradictory, much like most (probably all?) Earth religions have room in them for internally contradictory myths. I like the Aboriginal notion of a dreamtime where (as I understand it) all of these myths have some truth and power to them, but that trying to tie them down as factual history loses the point.
Rilee Stormborn |
He probably would have got me. My CMD is only a 23 in bat shape. I guess it would depend on how you would rule the spell's effect (if it would separate us and break the grapple).
Concentration: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 28
Er, nevermind, I wouldn't be able to get off the spell. I don't know what I could do. Wild shape into an elephant, I guess. If there were rules for escaping a grapple by getting really small, perhaps. But wild shaping into a thrush would only send me down its gullet.
Zoli Tileani |
Woot! Take note: Chaldrira Zuzaristan is the Real And True Goddess of the RNG. Two crit threats (one confirmed) for my attacks.
Then take a look inside my "if attacked" spoiler. Grettela got two nat 20s on her bodyguard/aid roles for me (a bit of overkill since she succeeds on a 2, but I'll take it) and then I got a nat 20 to parry and a nat 20 (confirmed) to riposte.
I really hope the last wyvern goes for Zoli, so she can lop off his stinger on a riposte! ;-)
gyrfalcon |
BTW, after some conversation with Rilee on roll20, I'd like to propose the following new Reincarnation Table
(which has the bonus of being backwards compatible with every reincarnation result he's ever accomplished).
gyrfalcon |
BTW, I meant to share this photo when I got back from Iceland. I'm pretty confident it's a petrified dragon's head.
Setsuna Kailani |
We have one Chaotic and two Neutral Goodies in the party, and while his character sheet says otherwise, Eugeni is de facto Lawful Good. I don't see them abandoning Sandpoint.
I was actually thinking of setting the Staff aside specifically for Sandpoint. 27,000 gp is a great down payment for reconstruction.
Rilee Stormborn |
I don't know guys, that staff has all spells that I routinely memorize (except for air walk, but only because I have an animal companion that can fly). Having that staff lets me use my spell slots for other spells, or just summon nature's ally spells. I've got 17,000 gp unspent, so I might just buy off that staff with my share of the treasure.
Zoli Tileani |
You should totally take that staff if you want it (I strongly suspect you'll be able to afford it by the next time we cash in).
Setsu, we *have* been getting a lot of loot. As a Player of Games, my first tendency is to say "What? Give away our hard-earned loot?!?"...but given we get so much of it (and aren't hurting for power) I'd be happy to dedicate some sizable portion of what we get to rebuilding.
Eugeni Silva |
Well, I don't think we need to rebuild the whole town. Especially since we saved it in the first place. However, individual characters donating to Sandpoint would be fine.
Eugeni will definitely give some money to help out, but I don't think we should end our normal loot division policy. If Rilee wants the staff she can buy it out. People wanna help the town, they can use their money.
I'm still 2.5k in debt to the bank of Zoli. Gotta get that paid off before I go giving away anything :P
Setsuna Kailani |
Hey, Thron. When you want to move things forward, here is what seems to be the agreed action when we move to the next cave.
"Once everyone is ready, she turns invisible again and conjures a Lantern Archon via Summon Monster III. She tells him to enter the next save, start making lots of noise, and maybe even fire a few lasers at the ceiling or ground."
