Update on my dad: his pneumonia is still an issue, but his sepsis seems under control. However, he also had a heart attack, and will need a quadruple bypass. So I'm still out of commission (in a full posting capacity) until further notice.
I appreciate any and all positive thoughts and prayers that have been sent this way.

OK. Work is kicking my a$$ right now with a thousand 'priority' tasks that I can't entirely foist off on delegate to my employees. I doubt I'll be able to post until maybe the middle of next week. Bot as necessary.
Setsuna Kailani |
What was I hit with exactly? Since I wisely cast Protection from Evil ahead of time, I get a +2 resistance bonus on my saves against effects created by evil creatures, and I don't have a Cloak of Resistance or anything. It seems to me like it was also a fear effect (feeling despair and all), so that's another +1 from Bless. Finally, being a Half-Elf, Setsuna gets a +2 against enchantment effects.
Zoli Tileani |
Yoiks!
Tzefira, that's rough. I should say for full disclosure that I suggested to Thron that you move to that very spot, to get you away from any blast from the demon. It seemed like such a good idea at the time! :-/
(Surviving) teammates: this fight is clearly a brute. Time to pull out all the stops, and to use our heads! Does anyone have dispel magic or something like that? I bet this Lamia was buffing while she waited for us.
What do yall think we do, strategy-wise? Setsuna and Riley do you have any big summons left? Or other heavy buffs or attacks to cast? It seems like Eugeni, Mory, Olympus, and Zoli should focus on the Lamia since we're all better with corporeal foes...and also since I suspect she's the boss, based on what we've heard/read. (I assume she's the one Judge Ironbriar was in love with.)
Eugeni Silva |
I will blow my ki and perfect strikes, but those are about all the tricks I have.
Zoli Tileani |
Thron, can we tell how much reach Xanesha has?
Setsuna, if Mory (or someone) doesn't prevent her from attacking this/next round, what's your plan? If you have more summons...well, a strong offense is typically the best defense in PF...but this feels like a situation where keeping Zoli on the front lines would be great (since she's got reasonably good HP/defenses, can reliably hit Xanesha, and is second only to Eugeni on damage output). Given that, I'm wondering what you think of hanging behind her as a backup HP battery?
Zoli Tileani |
Eugeni, doh! So close on three of those. Are you counting Bless in there? with that you'd have hit a 22...and she's currently at 23 due to the Tanglefoot bag. If Mory is able to grapple her she'll be down to a 21 so you would be able to hit on an 11.
I *think* I see a way forward. I mean, if Mory succeeds at a grapple (which he'll do on an 8 or higher because her reduced CMD is 18, thanks to the tanglefoot bag, and his CMB with improved grapple + his armbands is 10) then she needs to spend a Standard escaping, or use something other than her spear...and she'll hopefully have trouble casting while grappled too. Even if she escapes this round, she'll have blown her only Standard.
If Mory fails but Setsuna is willing/able to hang behind me with healing to keep me in the ring...I can hit her on a 6 and will do 16.5 dam ave/hit (with a ~25% chance to crit).
Either way, lantern archons should start chipping away.
...I don't know. Given her damage/round and how many HP she has left it's going to be VERY rough...(and having Tzefira down *really* hurts) but I think we could pull through this...
Zoli Tileani |
Stirge-storm sounds great too! I should note my thoughts above are *one* way I could see us pulling through this (and a cloud of stirges only add to that plan).
I'm also *very* open to other plans. If anyone see a different way you'd like to go, now's the time for us all to consider options!
Eugeni Silva |
I did not include bless, but as you note, I'm more than 1 away from hitting anyway.
I'll admit to not having put a huge amount of thought into it, but I don't see any plan that's better than the standard "kill her as fast as possible to avoid a nasty retreat where most of the party dies". Also, even if we handle her, there is still that demon thing, wherever it went.
Unless we like interrupted their showdown or something.
Zoli Tileani |
setsuna, once your croc phases in, let me know what you plan to do. I'll get back into the fray if you can top off my HP. If you have something else you want to do instead, I can retreat and use my sling... But I'll be doing 1/5 the damage.

Going to the hospital to have our baby now. I probably will not be posting for the next few days, please DMPC as needed.
Zoli Tileani |
Hey gang.
Tzefira/DarkNetwerk are you still around? I know you'd posted that you'd been extra busy with work for a while.
Everyone, I've updated our Loot Tracker.
I don't think any of us can ID magic items so we'll have to take the ones that we don't know to Xamarath back in Sandpoint (or to a friendly IDer here in Magnimar). In any event, I left those at zero value for now.
EDIT:
* I listed the 4 CMW potions but it's possible we should just count them as emergency party gear and have them carried by a handful of our non-healers for emergencies.
* The Sihedron Medallion has the following abilities:
"While worn, a star medallion grants its wearer a +1 resistance bonus on all saving throws.
Once per day, as a free action, it may be commanded to bestow the effects of false life on the wearer. Placed on the neck of a dead body, a star medallion preserves the body indefinitely via a gentle repose effect."
...in other words, it's the equiv of a +1 cloak & a 1/day False Life for 1d10+5 HP (as a free action). I like mine.
Morythine Ettes |
If it stacks with a cloak of resistance, Morythine would be interested in the Sihedron medallion.
EDIT: plus the snakeskin tunic if it's not considered armour.
Zoli Tileani |
The medallion doesn't stack with a +1 cloak, it's like a cloak with an extra ability (but both grant resistance bonuses).
The snakeskin tunic doesn't say it's armor, only that it provides an armor bonus. Seems made for you, Morythine!
Setsuna and Riley, in case you weren't hear when this was discussed, our loot policy is to list it all in a tracker and divide it's resale cost evenly among the team. Then folks can choose to take some of their share of the loot in trade (for the resale cost). Occasionally > 1 person wants the same thing...at which point we've always been able to talk it out and come to agreement. Let us know if (a) what I just described isn't clear, OR (b) you'd like to propose a different method.
All, I just updated the loot tracker again because it didn't have any of the loot from our fight at the sawmill. Everyone should take a look. If you want to claim something, call it out in Discussion!
Also, I propose that we exclude the 4 potions of CMW from the loot and count them as group gear instead. We could do the same with the wand of CMW (with 12 charges) if we want, though if we were to keep only 1 I'd say the potions, since it could be really handy for folks to be able to heal when they're cut off from our healer(s). Thoughts?
In game, we totally need to let the authorities know what happened, and that we've solved the Skinsaw murders (and that Ironbriar was a cultist).
I think I'd also like to gather some info about the mayor (after the comment in the letter to Xanesha) before we tell him about these murders. And we need to bring the evil stuff we've found to a local temple for their bounty. Hopefully the bounty is something equal or greater to the resale value of them, because those 14 evil masks have a resale value of 15,750 GP! (Mory, I think you took one skinsaw mask as loot before we encountered these. I'm assuming you're still keeping it and so didn't include it in the bounty list.)
EDIT: after posting to Gameplay, here's my proposal:
- we collectively get the loot out of here
- Riley finds out if Tzefira's soul wants to reincarnate (if he can?)
- we go together to the city guard to let them know what happened, and that we've solved the skinsaw mysteries. If we get a good sense from the captain we work with, consider asking her/him about the mayor.
- when we do--if Tzefira is staying dead--we see if we can find out who her next of kin are
- we go to a major temple (Desna is my in character pick, but Erastil and Sarenrae have temples here too) and get the bounty for the evil items
- we sell the rest of our loot & go shopping (or go back to Sandpoint, where Xamarath will craft for us at 25% off).
...and then we should head for this Ferry & Fort! Thron, is Sandpoint on the way there? If not, how out of the way is it?
...Oh! and we also have the deed to foxglove manor. What on earth do we do with that? Try to sell the manor? Seems fair to me!
Zoli Tileani |
OK, makes sense. In that case, Thron, do we just say that Riley finds her soul doesn't want to reincarnate?
DM Thron |
Ya...I'm going to have to say that is the case.
Tzefira' slash communication was Oct. 22nd, saying to bot until "the middle of next week."
It is now almost a month later and no further updates. Going to have to cut them loose. We will proceed with five.
Tzefira, should you ever come back to the thread: it is no hard feelings, and I hate to do it, but it's not fair to the others, but I'm a firm believer in RL over gaming, so I hope you get things settled with work and such.
Riley Tobias |
Okay, that gives me the answer to what I was going to ask, which was about Tzefira's reincarnation. I'm not yet able to cast the spell (but will when we hit 7th level -- which might be soon, hopefully) so with GM's permission I'll act like I can and she just won't return. Maybe save the 1,000 gp material cost as well.
Zoli Tileani |
We've got us a Sihedron medallion which grants Gentle Repose. I never thought that ability would be terribly useful...but now perhaps it is!

Okay, home with baby now. Everything went well. I will start posting again when I can.
