Can Zoli move into Darius's space, since he's paralyzed?
(And then attack, that is)
Or else can she got in the square just south of Destrina?
Zoli Tileani |
Crusty hasn't posted on these boards for about a month. I've just sent him an email to see if all is well but in the meantime I suggest that Thron bot Darius so we don't get bogged down.
Morythine Ettes |
Given Darius' absence, someone else needs to take up Wand duty. Just since the previous fight, 4 charges have been used, and I dunno if that is inclusive of the other recent casts.
Morythine can use it, but of course he's trying to keep his wicked Zon-kuthon worshiping ways from the others. I don't mind tracking the charges as long as Darius is still the one using the wand.
Don't know where we are currently are on charges though.

Traveling internationally for the next nine days, so my posting might be spotty at times. Please bear with me.
DM Thron |
I pose a question to you guys, upon arrival in civilization, do you guys want to:
A) Recruit a replacement for Darius?
B) Have me drop in a DMPC?
C) Go on as a group of 4?
I am fine with any of the above options, and for options A/B, I need to know which you'd prefer:
1) Full Arcane
2) Full Divine
3) Anything
Please post in here your preferences, please.
Zoli Tileani |
I think this group needs a full caster or some stripe. I'd look for a cleric (maybe an evangelist?) or a wizard or arcanist (non-blaster, more utility or battlefield control). Thron, if you--with your inside knowledge--think we'll particularly miss either divine or arcane in our mysterious future, I'd defer to that.
If there's a great player to bring in, that's my slight pref over DMPC...but I like your characters and am happy to have you make one too (especially if you don't find a great new recruit). My only hesitation with DMPCs is awkward situations I've been in where the logical person to take initiative is the DMPC...but the DM is holding back because they don't want to hog the limelight.
Eugeni Silva |
I'd say option A, with a full cleric who has some arcane tricks being my preference. If that fails, then option B is okay.
Morythine Ettes |
My first vote would be option A as well. If we went with option B I'd be inclined to simply let DM Thron keep running Darius. Obviously, from Morythine's point of view a divine healer is not much help (indeed, more of a liability!). On a personal note, the revolving door of characters breaks immersion in the game.
In fact, I'd be happy to get a new player in and have Thron keep running Darius.
I'm happy with a new player running anything they like, though concede wiser heads than mine should make the decision, as they probably have better ideas when it comes to forging a balanced party.
Morythine Ettes |
With regards to loot, in order of interest Morythine would fancy;
- Stalker's Mask; a creepy upgrade to my hat of disguise, yes please!
- Ring of Jumping
Also want, but doesn't mind if it gets sold in the interest of the party's coffers;
- Chimes of Opening; might prove useful and I saw them first.
Anyone else have an interest in these?

I agree about the revolving door thing. It's frustrating, but I'd rather keep the solid crew of you guys as players than recruit fresh blood upon a PC loss. However, Crusty vanishing hurts the party in both numbers and an Arcane resource, and you are already lacking a FULL caster of any kind.
In regards to continuing running Darius: I am not too keen on that. He is not of my design, and I am not comfortable running characters I myself don't make. Overall though, I'm less concerned with party balance than I am with a good game, so here is what I suggest:
If any of you in your other games know of a strong PbP player who may is interested, drop their name here (not the recruitment thread, I don't want it bumped and random people think it is a new recruitment and start applying).
I can then review their style and drop them a PM and see if they are willing to join.

OK, I vote:
- Ride to Sandpoint in the AM, and see if Zantus or one of his flock can help us
- Ride back to Foxglove the next day to end the haunt and look for loot we left behind (DM's call if that's worth playing out or not)
- Ride to Magnimar the day after that.
Morythine Ettes |
Seconded on that vote!
As for tracking loot, I have a vague recollection that someone volunteered for that role (though it might have been Darius). I've made a note of a few things that Morythine has picked up, but overall don't consider myself organised enough to track loot for the whole party.

There was still the super moldy tunnel you guys hadn't checked yet (cowards), but it may be something you want to pass up entirely. Let me know if you want to check it out and I will just handle that OOC.
As for items you guys acquired during your jaunt in the manor:
Hungry Decapitant - a magic taxidermied monkey head that lets out a shrill simian scream whenever the attached rope (coming from its open mouth) is pulled, per the spell Alarm. Value: 500 gp.
Scarf - 100 gp
Painting of a bullfighter vs. an aurochs - 600 gp
Scroll of Lightning Bolt
Scroll of Keen Edge
Silver Dinner Set - 1,000 gp
3 small violet garnets - 100 gp each
5 bottles of vintage Vigardeis Wine - 100 gp each
Body of Shaz "Redshiv" Bilger - proof of his demise to the law in Magnimar is worth a 500 gp reward
Pearl Ring - 300 gp
Adamantine Longsword
Hat of Disguise - Morythine is wearing
+1 Leather Armor
+1 War Razor
Ring of Jumping
Ring of Protection +1

Screw the moldy tunnel. I could use the ring of protection, I don't have one yet.

I've updated the loot tracker after Thron generously compiled our Foxglove loot.
Everyone gets the equiv of 2,857.30 GP (including Darius). Zoli isn't keeping any of it and is instead using the cash to pay Xamarath to craft her a DEX belt and +1 added to her mithral shirt (which Thron informs me will be ready when we get back from Magnimar).
Thron also mentions that Xamarath will craft for us at 75% of retail.
If there's anything you want to keep on the tracker (or if what I listed there for you isn't accurate) post in discussion to say so and Thron or I'll update it.
Eugeni Silva |
That leaves me with 4,780.21 GP. I'll have to think about what I'm going to do with it.
Morythine Ettes |
Resale price.
Thanks. I'll be travelling over the next couple of days with limited access to web, but I'll try and update my purchases as soon as possible.
Morythine Ettes |
Morythine makes claim on the following from the loot sheet;
- Hat of Disguise
- Stalker's Mask
- Ring of Jumping
- Hungry Decapitant
He'll also ask Xamarath to turn his quarterstaff into a quarterstaff +1 .
DM Thron; would it be possible for Morythine to purchase some inflict wounds potions in Sandpoint or Magnimar?
Small change excluded, this leaves Morythine with 1,047 gp, which he'll take with him to Magnimar.
Morythine Ettes |
In retrospect, I realise the Hat of Disguise, flashy though it may be, is rather redundant if I also have the Stalker's Mask, so I'll not keep it. Morythine misses his tricorn, it seems.
DM Thron; who might be able, or perhaps more pertinently, how much would it cost to convert the Hungry Decapitant into some kind of early warning system? Either mechanically, by setting up a tripwire attached to the rope coming out of its mouth, or magically, so it might automatically trigger its alarm when enemies are near? I'm thinking it might work as a neat security device for the adventurers, especially when we make camp or need to sleep.
