I have a desire to GM a PbP game and the role-playing possibilities of Fire Mountain Games' "Throne of Night" seems really intriguing. For those of you that don't know, this is a 3rd-party campaign that amounts to Kingmaker in the Underdark.

I've decided that I would like to run a group of all dwarves or all drow. For the drow, you would be septuplets, exiled from your house and left to die in the Underdark. For the dwarves, you would be family as well; the remnants of a dying royal bloodline questing to find your ancestral homeland.

I think it sounds amazing and I was wondering if people would be interested in playing it. If you are, please include if you'd rather play dwarves (good guys) or drow (bad guys).

While it seems the Way of the Wicked game I'm in is dying out somewhere in the first book, I've liked what I've seen so far from Fire Mountain Games. I'd be interested in giving an all drow party a whirl.

Dibs on the fleshwarper!

Color me interested, for either option.

I would give either a go, but my preference would lean slight more towards Drow. Either one, I would go for the Cleric role.

Scarab Sages

I like the dwarf concept. I have my real life game tonight so I won't be able to roll something until tomorrow, but I'm very interested.

What character creation rules will you be using?

This intrigues me greatly. I would be interested in playing a Drow Slayer. Although, I would have no problem playing a dwarf as well. I just love me some Drow.

Grand Lodge

very interested with either options....

Sovereign Court

Very interested. Slight preference to the band of Dwarves.

Dwarves all the way!!

Scarab Sages

Interested. Leaning towards dwarves myself.

I'd like to get involved with a drow party, but I can work with dwarves as well.

Still prefer drow though.

Dwarves to the max!

This sounds awesome. I'll have to give it a look. (Either option sounds fun)

Either/or would be cool

So far we're looking at:

Drow:

Draconas
Lorelei
Dragoncat
Sixteenbiticon

Dwarves:

Choon
Lucendar
Fanguar
Alexander Kilcoyne
aptinuviel

Don't Care:

Shadowborn
Redshirt#3302
ReliantLion
Algar Lysandris

Dwarves have the slight edge. I'll give this a little more time before I start accepting submissions.

Character building guidelines will be released when I begin taking submissions.

If you went the Drow route, would you consider non-Drow PCs that were slaves/servants to the Drow PCs? Allies/hire ons could be interesting too, but I get wanting to focus on the Drow power dynamics.

I'm tentatively interested either way, just figured I'd ask since that would help showcase the Drow way of thinking.

I have a slight preference towards the dwarf party. Either way, though, it sounds awesome. :D

Quite interested here as well. I'm leaning towards dwarves 'cause I missed out on an all dwarf run last year sometime, but an all Drow party would be pretty interesting as well.

Scarab Sages

I've been convinced by others that an all Drow party might be more interesting than all dwarf. So I'd like to change my vote. Though I'd still be up for a dwarf group (as this convincing has not changed my mind that dwarves are awesome.)

Either or, I just want to know if Words of Power are allowed.

Probably going to play a blaster-caster.

An all drow game is intriguing. Would it be Golorion's drow? I'll need to do some reading...

I've never had a player use Words of Power. I'm interested to see how they work.

If we go evil, I'd like to focus on only drow characters. You're certainly allowed to gather slaves as you go, but the plot won't have much impact for "slave-PCs" except to watch as your betters gain more power.

Technically, this campaign is not in Golarion. But if we play drow, feel free to use any sort of Golarion flavor that appeals to you. I know I will.

As a side note, I'll let the voting continue until tomorrow evening. At that point, we'll know which side you're on and the submissions can begin.

Going over ideas for character concepts, I think I'm swaying slightly to the dwarven side. Drow are cool, but I'm having a better time with dwarf character ideas.

Conversely, I'm having an easier time coming up with drow concepts than dwarf ideas.

I am interested, prefer drow over dwarves.

I would be interested as well. I would go for either one.

I definitely lean heavily on the dwarves. One of my favorite campaigns was an all dwarven family party.

Interested as well.

Dwarves sounds fun!

Here's where we stand:

Drow:

Draconas
Lorelei
Dragoncat
Sixteenbiticon
Azten
mcridill
aptinuviel

Dwarves:

Choon
Lucendar
Aku Warashi
Zelit
Fanguar
Alexander Kilcoyne
Shadowborn
Xentik
El Ronza

Don't Care:

Redshirt#3302
ReliantLion
DM_Kumo Gekkou
Algar Lysandris
Tourach

Dwarves still lead it. I'll end the voting tonight.

Is there a player'a guide or anything like that? Besides the AP.

If we do decide on dwarves, I would love to play a ranger (deep walker).

There is no players guide. Only a section in the back of the AP that I'll be slightly modifying and posting tonight.

Sovereign Court

Looking forward to applying whether Drow or Dwarf.

Likewise.

What classes will be allowed for this?

The only classes that I won't be allowing are gunslingers, ninjas, and samurai.

Posting interest as a dwarf.

I'll dot.
Preference for drows, not because I particularly like them but because:
1)That would probably be the only chance I'd have to play a Lamashtu based character and
2) Dwarves are boring and grumpy :P

Scarab Sages

I'm really interested in trying out the dwarven archetypes (especially the Forgemaster), but I'm kindof underwhelmed by them.

I mainly picked dwarves because killing siblings is a thing with drow. :)

Then our PCs will not be siblings. Problem solved!
Jokes aside, I'm the kind of person that always plays good characters and feels bad in videogames when I'm unable to save puppies: playing something evil once in a while is fun. :P

Also, I change my previous statement: scrap the Lamashtu idea, I could play a Pain Taster of Zon-Kuthon!
*WHIPCRACK*

I'm GMing two games of this on the Dwarf side, but if you do run it with Drow I'd love to give it a shot as a player, provided you don't mind me having a bit of extra information.

Does this include the new Advanced Classes?

Choon wrote:

The book has a few ways that the GM can set it up to deter the Drow from killing each other. I think it mostly falls under the universal "Don't be a dick" law, though. One can be evil without being a teammate killer.

Oh, man. I haven't even looked at the new classes. Any opinions on them?

They're cool, and looks balanced. The only one that seems a little nuts is the Arcanist: there was the Warpriest that looked a bit too strong, too, but we've seen it got nerfed in the preview blog some weeks ago.

Also, GM Olmek, what are your stances on house-rulings (concerning Whips, specifically :P)?

Drow

On the subject of the ACG classes, I've only tried the investigator. So far, I've enjoyed playing one.

I absolutely adore the Investigator - It's a class that I've wanted for a long time and it's done very well. Bloodrager was pretty fun, too. I haven't checked out the others.

Yes, I expressed interest in playing an ACG class as well in my initial post. More specifically, the Slayer if we end up choosing Drow. Two of my favorite classes combined, what's not to like? :)

I was eyeballing Skald if we go Dwarf, but the -2 Cha would hurt.

I'm planning on playing a swashbuckler if we go Drow, and a cleric if we're going Dwarf.

Final Tally:

Drow:

Draconas
Lorelei
Dragoncat
Viluki
Sixteenbiticon
Azten
mcridill
aptinuviel
Adahn_Cielo

Dwarves:

Choon
Lucendar
Aku Warashi
Zelit
Fanguar
Alexander Kilcoyne
CyberMephit
Shadowborn
Xentik
El Ronza

Don't Care:

Redshirt#3302
ReliantLion
DM_Kumo Gekkou
Algar Lysandris
Tourach

Dwarves win by a single vote! I'll have character building instructions up shortly.

Aww.

Oh well. Dorf it is then!
