female Human Rogue 4

"Right."

Angalia moves protectively to Tiff's side.

Male Human Ranger (Skirmisher) 3

Nathaniel quickly rolls up his bedding and follows Eliva’s example in stringing and readying his bow. He also lights a lantern, shuttering it so that only a soft glow escapes. Seeing that everyone else is ready to move or close to it, he nods. “Let’s move.” Passing Tiffana he pauses beside the small woman. “We’ll find your friend,” he says softly. Secretly he wonders if he’ll make a liar of himself – he’s already failed in one similar promise this day.

Shaking such grim thoughts away, he sets off, following the trail by the light shining from Res’ holy symbol and the dim glow of his lantern.

The party follows the tracks over some distance. The terrain remains as unremarkable as ever. Whatever place you are in is dreary and forsaken. Only the occasional mossy stone or sickly shrub marks the land, which is otherwise rolling hills and wiry, tough grass. The miss does not abate as you progress.

Can I get Perception checks from everyone?

There is still limited visibility in the mists. Clear to 20 ft, concealment out to 40 ft (20% miss chance), no visibility beyond that (50% miss chance). Also, as a reminder, you did not get a full 8 hour rest, so spells per day, etc, have not reset.

Male Human Cleric/4 {HP:35/35, AC 17}

As the group follows the trail, Res can't help but notice the dreary surroundings they have found themselves in. He keeps his senses alert for anything that may be lurking in the dark beyond the light of his holy symbol and Nathaniel's lantern.

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16

Edit: Miss chance rolls:

20 - 40 ft: Success greater than 20 1d100 ⇒ 39
>50 ft: Success greater > 50 1d100 ⇒ 50

Female Human (Gypsy) Dreamspun Sorceress 4

Ever since her friend was discovered missing, the girl seemed in a frightened daze, however she seems to recover and accept that she does he friend no good by acting like a little lost girl. She remains silent as they search for 'Kani, but seems ready to burst with anxiousness.

Perception:1d20 ⇒ 19

female Human Rogue 4

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16 - Perception

Staying at Tiff's side, Angalia can't really offer much comfort, but she tries.

"He's managed to take care of you - that almost has to mean he can look after himself."

Male Human Ranger (Skirmisher) 3

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

Focused as he is on following the tracks, Nathaniel is not as observant of his surroundings.

Female Half Orc Inquisitor 4 {HP:19/25}

Eliva dislikes the light, though she understands the need the others have for it. Wanting to avoid being targeted because of it, she stays about 25 feet away. If eliva is doing the tracking she will stay in front, otherwise she'll be off to the side.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

I'll still take a Perception check from Erfan.

The group makes its way through the swirling mists, following the ominous tracks left by 'Kani and his presumed abductors. In the distance, the party spots movement. Ahead, supported by spindly legs, two spiders the size of large dogs scurry across the ground. Behind them, a larger spider stands watch over two motionless humanoid forms wrapped head to toe in spider silk. The swollen abdomen of the larger spider marks it as a female bearing a heavy egg sack. Insectile mandibles click together as the spiders regard the intruders inscrutably.

Roll initiative, and please let me know where you are within the yellow square on the map.

MAP

S1 and S2 are the smaller spiders. Q is the big one. H marks the humanoid forms.

That's a rubbish roll for a Rogue. So much for sneak attack damage.

Spotting the spiders, Res will sheath his great sword, and pull out his cross bow.

Fortunately for the adventurers, Erfan's senses are unusually keen, detecting the faint sheen of webbing over a few patches of ground around the spiders.

Blue patches are areas of ground covered by webs, per the PRD rules.

"Ware! The creatures have laid traps with their webbing there!" the gnome cries out as he indicates the webbed areas.

I've rolled init and placed Tiffana or Eliva - let me know if you want to be placed elsewhere. Init: Tiffana 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7, Eliva 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Soldier spiders 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16, Queen 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

The Queen spider moves closer to the intruders and sends a spray of webbing at Res. 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10 vs touch AC. 20% Miss chance 1d100 ⇒ 30

On a hit, Res is entangled. DC 12 Escape Artist check to free yourself, or DC 12 Strength check with a -4 penalty to burst through the webbing.

If you could I'd like to be at N15, I checked it this morn, but boss got here before I could make my rolls and take my place.

Male Human Cleric/4 {HP:35/35, AC 17}

"Arrgh! Its web hit me!" Res struggles mightily to free himself from the web, Strength Check: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 2 - 4 = -1 but is unable to free himself.

Male Human Ranger (Skirmisher) 3

Nathaniel is somewhat slow to react – both because he is heeding Erfan’s warning and looking out for webs, but also because he is looking in fascination at the spiders. He’s always quietly admired spiders for their efficient hunting techniques, but has only rarely glimpsed spiders the size of the dog sized creatures he can discern through the mist in the forests near home, and never anything the size of the egg-bearing female.

He shakes himself out of his stupor quickly enough when Res yells out, having been covered in a thrown web. As the spiders scuttle out of the mist towards them, Nathaniel hurriedly nocks an arrow to his bow.

Res struggles against the webbing that entangles him. Meanwhile, the smaller spiders move to place themselves between the queen and the intruders.

Because I'm going to be gone tomorrow and I don't want to hold everyone up on my turn she'll take a 5ft step to N14 and cast Burning Hands(DC15) at S2.

Male Human Ranger (Skirmisher) 3

Moorluck, I don’t think you’ll hit S2 with a burning hands from N14 – you’ll burn those webs off Res nicely though ;-). If you take a move action to K12 you can get both S1 and S2 with a 15 foot cone. It does leave you quite exposed though (if no one else moves forward). If you move to H14 you would only get S1, but at least you don’t expose yourself as such an enticing target to all the spiders. Just some thoughts.

Female Half Orc Inquisitor 4 {HP:19/25}

Eliva fires on the large spider in back, then moves backward away from the group. Either that will leave her free to fire without worry of hitting her companions, or it will draw some of them after her and give the others time to free Res.

Attack (longbow): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 4
Move to S-9

The bloated spider writhes as Eliva's arrow strikes true.

Tiffana - Like Nathaniel pointed out, you would have to move to the front for them to be within reach for Burning Hands. I imagine Nathaniel and Angalia will be moving into melee, so it might not be the end of the world, but let me know if that's what you want to do. I know you may not be able to check in until tomorrow, and that's fine. Also, if you do that, go ahead and roll damage (I'll roll the spiders' saves after that).

That'll work, I wasn't paying much attention when I posted the first.

The gnome scampers forth to present his spear's tip forcefully in the spiders' direction.

Move to L12 and ready an attack against the first spider in range. It is a longspear, thus I have reach.

Male Human Ranger (Skirmisher) 3

Nathaniel has bent his knees to drop the lantern he holds to the ground Drop held object, free action and holds his bow ready, an arrow nocked, waiting for the spiders to scuttle into better view through the mist. When Res is webbed, he is torn between taking his shot and helping the cleric ... but then a decision is made for him when Tiffana dashes past to the front of the group and shoots a fan of bright flame at the nearest spiders – enough to singe them but not enough to finish them off, leaving herself exposed.

The ranger looses an arrow at the nearest spider, then casts aside his bow and hurries forward, placing himself between the slight sorceress and the oncoming spiders (but not so much that he will be in her way of she does the fire trick again) grabbing his spiked shield and preparing to use if for attack or defence as he moves.

Standard action, fire arrow at S1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20 Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 2 Miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 82.
Free action, drop bow.
Move action, move to J12, draw shield as part of move.

Nathaniel's arrow strikes true.

Where's Kani on the map? Angalia's probably going to try and cut him free if she can get to him and circle to get CA with something.

There are two humanoid figures marked H on the map.

female Human Rogue 4

Double move to I3 (avoiding OAs) and help free Kani.

Realising that Kani needs to be free to fight, Angalia moves swiftly around the back of the spiders.

Even close up, you cannot identify the humanoid forms. They appear to be approximately the same size, and either could be 'Kani.

Since you double-moved, you can remove the webbing on one of them next turn as a standard action.

The queen spider scurries after the one who injured her and attempts to ensnare Eliva in a web, but the spray of sticky material misses its mark.

Sorry - next turn. You used your whole turn getting there. However, that will speed things up next time you come up in initiative.

Male Human Cleric/4 {HP:35/35, AC 17}

Still struggling to free himself from the spider's web. Res gathers himself for a moment, and then with aloud, "ARRRRRGGGGGGG!" Res again attempts to burst the spider's web.

Strength: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 2 - 4 = 9

The web fails to yield to Res's attempt the burst through it.

Paizo.com hates me... I'm having a lot of trouble posting. Let's try this again.

Res - don't forget that trying to escape isn't the only action possible while entangled. Remember that next round, as your options are opening up.

The first spider moves toward Nathaniel, it's mandibles dripping with vile fluid. 1d20 ⇒ 8

The second moves in and bites at Tiffana.

That triggers Erfan's readied action. If you don't kill it, here is its attack roll 1d20 ⇒ 19. 1d4 - 2 ⇒ (3) - 2 = 1 damage and make a Fort save.

Readied action from Erfan, then:
Eliva
Tiffana

Erfan lashes out at the approaching spider with his spear tip.

1d20 ⇒ 20 to hit, dealing 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1 if successful.

Crit threat! 1d20 ⇒ 18 to confirm, adding 2d6 - 2 ⇒ (4, 4) - 2 = 6 if successful.

The guileless spider scurries straight into range of Erfan's spear, and the eccentric gnome takes advantage of the opening and skewers the arachnid through the middle. The spider twitches briefly and then goes still.

That transpires before its attack on Tiffana, so Tiffana takes no damage and doesn't need to make a save.

Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 (Point Blank Shot)
The move to U-14 (two to the right of the end of the map)

Eliva's shot just barely misses its mark against the giant spider.

Tiffana

Also, I'm tiring of Res in that web. If someone spends a standard action to free him, we'll just say it works.

Male Human Ranger (Skirmisher) 3

“Someone help Res with that damned web!” yells Nathaniel over his shoulder, as the spider in front of him snaps at his shield with dripping mandibles, and long, hairy legs wave and sweep around him.

;-)

Female Human (Gypsy) Dreamspun Sorceress 4

Seeing that Nate has the smaller spider occupied, Tiff turns her attention to the enormous monster scurrying towards Eliva. She snaps her crossbow up and takes hasty aim at the beast before squeezing off a shot, "Over here you B*+%%!

"I'm getting to it. I only have one pair of hands and I can see three enticing packages."

Male Human Ranger (Skirmisher) 3

Keeping the spider at bay with his shield, Nathaniel reaches for his battleaxe, then brings it up in an underhand sweep, aiming to dig the blade deep into the arachnids soft underparts.

Draw axe, move action. Axe attack, standard action: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Tiffana's crossbow bolt passes wide of the spider, while Nathaniel's axe also fails to make contact with its target.
