Tiffana Takorous |
Awakened by the sounds of the attack, Tif's eyes scan the darkness and alight upon the beast that harry the camp. She screams both to wake anyone still sleeping, and to give voice to her fear.
Spend round getting to her feet, grabbing her crossbow as she does so.
Celestial GM |
I'll leave Tiffana's action as it is for now. If you want to revise later, feel free.
Nathaniel awakens abruptly to the shouts and sounds of battle. In a moment, he is at his feet and swinging his axe at a nearby abomination, although off-center as he is from his sleep, the blow misses its mark.

Leandro |
Leandro gives a shout and swings Thorn at the fourth creature with all his strength, blade whistling.
Glaive/PowerAtt/FuriousFocus: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Damage if hits: 1d10 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Move will depend on the result of this blow - which I sure hope connects...
Celestial GM |
Leandro's glaive cleaves into the ghast, nearly obliterating it. Hacked viciously, the thing keeps fighting.
Wounded badly, but not destroyed.
Also, forgot to save for Nathaniel vs sickened: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 Sickened for 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 minutes.
The pungent stench of the ghast is too much for Nathaniel, and sets the ranger to retching, but he fights on in the face of the vile foes.
Eliva and Angalia are up.
Leandro |
With the ghast looking ghastly, Leandro shifts left to get closer to the remainder.
Completing turn based on result: move through Y21 to X21 - if I move to W21, can I attack #4 through Nate's square at all, or would he just give it cover. Not that familiar with reach weapons.
Eliva Smith |
Eliva takes a step back to get a bead on the ghast that hit her with her bow, calling upon Erastil to protect her from her enemies. "Erastil, protect me from these abominations of nature!" With a snarl she loosed an arrow.
5' step back to R-18.
Judgment of Protection activated. +1 sacred bonus to AC
Attack (point blank shot): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Damage (point blank shot): 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
[i]craptastic rolls again! this is payback for those two crits, isn't it?!?
Celestial GM |
Leandro: The way I read it, your allies to provide cover to reach weapons. The rules suggest that the same rules that apply to ranged weapons also apply to reach weapons.
I'll resolve Angalia's attack before Eliva's, since that is more advantageous to you.
Angalia dashes into the woods to flank one of the ghasts. She is able to catch it off-guard and and hacks at it viciously with her dagger. Eliva steps back and looses an arrow, but misses.
Sister Cecile jumps to her feet and efficiently urges her patients into the cart where they can be safer. The commotion among the patients is chaotic and panicked. Ilyich begins shrieking in terror, despite Sister Cecile's calming tones. Sergei, in contrast, seems almost resigned to his eventual destruction by the forces of darkness. Eventually, Sister Cecile manages to hurd them all away from the combat and looks about warily.
Urdrin charges at the first ghast and tries to finish it off. 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13 His blow is too slow to catch the nimble undead. Fort save vs sickened 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Angalia needs to make a DC 15 Fort save to avoid being sickened by the stench.
Celestial GM |
The first ghast engages the stocky dwarf who charged it.
Bite 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24, 2 claws 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20, 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25. Ouch.
3d6 + 9 ⇒ (2, 2, 1) + 9 = 14 The ghast bites into flesh while swiping with its claws. While the claws of one hand are deflected by the dwarf's shield, the other opens a vital area. Urdrin's save vs disease 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22 and vs paralysis 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14. Paralyzed for 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 rounds. The attack of the ghoul renders Urdrin motionless.
The second ghast vaults after Eliva with a vicious assault. Bite-claw-claw 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21, 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7, 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 While it is unable to claw effectively, it sinks its rancid teeth into Eliva's flesh. 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 damage and two DC 15 fort saves: one vs paralysis for 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 rounds and one for disease.
The third savagely attacks Nathaniel. Bite-claw-claw 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20, 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8, 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20. 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 3) + 6 = 13 damage and saves 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 vs paralysis, 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 vs disease. Nathaniel is wounded badly by the attack, and like Urdrin is paralyzed by the creature's attack. 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 rounds.
The fourth attacks at Leandro with a fierce assault. Bite-claw-claw 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14, 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24, 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25. While the abomination is not able to bite Leandro, it opens deep wounds with its claws. 3d6 + 9 ⇒ (4, 5, 5) + 9 = 23 damage and DC 15 Fort save to avoid being paralyzed for 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 rounds.
Recap: Urdrin took 14 damage and is paralyzed for 2 rounds. Eliva took 6 damage and needs to roll 2 saves (paralysis and ghoul fever). Nathaniel took 13 damage and is paralyzed for 3 rounds and has contracted ghoul fever. Leandro took 23 damage from a crit and needs to roll a save vs paralysis. Angalia still needs to roll a DC 15 fort save vs the sickening stench.
In case you haven't noticed, it behooves you to kill these things quickly.

FYI, if your name is in bold in the initiative list, you can post freely. Also, I am playing the stench as an aura - a single save is all that is needed. If you have saved once, I'm not making you save again. Also, when they full attack like this, I'm only calling for one paralysis save no matter how many hits you take.

Question, oh GM. I can heal myself as a swift with lay on hands, so could do that this turn IF I have one hand free. I use a 2-handed weapon. Can I remove a hand and heal myself but be inelegible for AoO until next turn?

I would treat it the same as casting a spell. Just as a wizard can cast a spell while wielding a staff, you would have no problem using lay on hands while wielding a glaive. As soon as you complete the swift action, you are wielding the glaive two-handed again and can make attacks normally. The only problem would be if you were fighting with two weapons or carrying a heavy shield.
Also, I just noticed that on its turn, ghast 4 moved within 10' of Res. Res needs to make a DC 15 Fort save or be sickened for 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 minutes.
Angalia's sickness lasts for 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 minutes.
Leandro strikes at a ghast but misses, while Tiffana disrupts one of them with her spell.

fort save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Having smelled the stench of death in battle, Res is able to resist the ghast's stench. He moves to the left of Leandro. w22 He pulls out his holy symbol and entreats Gorum to destroy these abominations with his positive energy. 2d6 ⇒ (6, 3) = 9 damage from positive energy. DC 19 To resist. Effects ghast 3 and 4
Celestial GM |
Saves: 3 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25, 4 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
While the ghasts seem highly resistant to Res' divine power, the fourth was already so badly injured by Leandro's glaive that it perishes. The holy light seems to drain it of whatever power animates the ghast and it crumples to the ground. Ghast 4 is destroyed.

Sister Cecile steps forward from the cart and raises the symbol of the white rose with devotion. She channels her energy at the attacking ghasts.
Channel energy for 2d6 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5 damage. Saves:
3 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
2 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
1 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
While the ghast near Nathaniel largely resists the blast, the others do not. The first ghast collapses in a smoldering heap.
Celestial GM |
The remaining ghasts continue their assault.
The second ghast pursues Eliva as she tries to maintain a safe distance. It assails her with rotting teeth and fetid claws. Bite-claw-claw 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19, 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20, 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20. Damage 3d6 + 9 ⇒ (6, 2, 3) + 9 = 20. The viciousness of the assault brings Eliva to the ground, her blood smeared upon the grass. Still roll DC 15 Fort saves against paralysis and disease, as they could affect you if you are healed.
The second, incensed by being assaulted by holy energy twice, leaves the paralyzed ranger and moves after Res. Bite 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14. The ghast is unable to get a solid grip on the cleric of Gorum. Res is within 10 feet of a ghast for the first time. DC 15 Fort save or sickened for 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 minutes.
Summary: Eliva took 20 damage and is, by my count, dying at -6 hp. She needs to roll DC 15 Fort saves vs paralysis (1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 rounds) and disease. Res needs to make a DC 15 Fort save vs sickened.

"Lady Eliva!" Leandro cries upon seeing the inquisitor brought low by the pursuing ghouls. Heedless of his own safety, he dashes between the two remaining undead. "Eternal Rose, destroy these abominations!"

Channel DC 16: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 5) = 8
As I read it, Res, Udrin, and Nate are paralyzed, Angalia sickened, and Eliva down. Desperate measures. C'mon, Tiff.
Celestial GM |
Good point, Res. 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 damage. Paralyzed for 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 rounds.

You have a -2 to hit and damage because of the sickened condition. They don't really have vulnerabilities, but nor do they have resistances. Your weapon will work fine on them. Setting up a flank won't be possible this round, though, because Eliva is unconscious and does not pose a threat.
If you want my strategic advice to you as a newer PF player, you know you are not going to do a fantastic sneak attack this round (and your ability to hit is comprimised), and running into melee range is going to give the remaining ghast the ability to make a full attack on you. I would make a ranged attack to stay at a safe distance so that the ghast is forced to move on its turn or full attack Leandro (who is better able to handle that than you are).
Celestial GM |
Sister Cecile again raises her holy symbol, but this time offers healing to her protectors.
Channel energy to heal within 30 ft. This will hit everybody in the party. 2d6 ⇒ (3, 5) = 8
That will be enough to stabilize Eliva, as well as help out the rest of you.
The remaining ghast screaches like a cornered beast and darts into the woods in search of a more vulnerable meal.
Are you pursuing? Post at will.
