Do you use fatigue rules for characters running on fewer than 8 hours of rest?

I suppose I would, but you were attacked only 1 hour into your rest. Assuming you can continue uninterrupted, 8 hours of rest is still very much possible.

I was wondering more about a double watch to sub for Nat.

Okay, doing some quick research.

I like this from AP 44:

Characters who do not get a full night’s sleep may suffer the effects of fatigue. If a PC does not get at least 6 hours of sleep, she must make a DC 15 Fortitude save or be fatigued and take a –1 penalty on all other checks and saving throws against sleep effects. A second night without sleep requires another DC 15 Fortitude save. A failed save results in the character becoming exhausted and the penalties increasing to –2. A third failed save on the next night increases the penalties to –3.

That is what is needed to avoid fatigue.

To regain HP or be able to prepare arcane spells, you need 8 hours, though.

Tiffana is your only arcane caster, and she only cast one 1st level spell in that fight. If she wants that spell slot back, she will need a full 8 hours. The rest of you can get by on as little as 6, although you won't regain HP for a full night's rest. Any less than 6 and you need to roll a save vs fatigue.

I'm not sure the scroll is gone.

If she meets all three requirements but her own caster level is lower than the scroll spell's caster level, then she has to make a caster level check (DC = scroll's caster level + 1) to cast the spell successfully.

So the caster level failed and spell was not cast.

The writing for an activated spell disappears from the scroll as the spell is cast.

So the writing should still be there?

I don't think that applies. I meet the caster level of the spell. But the text for remove disease says my caster level check needs to exceed the disease dc. So I think the spell was cast, but simply failed. It was worth a try.

Ah, gotcha! Is that how scrolls work, though?

To be fair, Nat isn't all that badly impaired at this point. You just want to get this looked at before the situation turns ghoulish :)

Angalia is just seeing the worst, since that's what the party have been getting since they arrived.

Leandro doesn't want to speak for the party, since he doesn't know the afflicted guy very well, nor does he know much about the guy they are following, so he is letting others ask the questions.

Angalia just went ahead and probably put her foot in it.

I'm really enjoying describing this hospital. It feels more "Ravenloft" to me than the other settings you've been in.

Hi Celestial Healer. This may seem a little cheeky, it does to me, but if ever you need another player I would love to be considered.

Frankly any game with Ravenloft in its title gets my interest. However I realise that I am an outsider to this and that you have a solid crew of players. So this is not something I expect to bear fruit.

But of the four games I have joined in the last six months, two are dying or stuttering along and I am looking for a consistency and decent players I can bounce off. Oh, and Rev Rosey is an added benefit since we have gamed together before and she provided me with a great sloe jam recipe.

Family fine, but son scarily just started A levels. Been a bit pushed this year one way and another, but it all seems to be settling down a bit.

Wow, that makes me feel older. A bit like my having to check a higher age category box on most forms.

Speaking of pushed, my wife has just been told that her company is in serious financial trouble and has about three months to turn it around. Her CV is getting a workout.

My work is in the suburbs, not the city. They don't need transportation to run. It is mostly likely going to be open.

I'm a little bit curious... What do all of you think is going on in this place? I get the feeling that all of your characters have been holding their tongues on any suspicions they might have.

Up to now, I thought we were trying to save the sister. Now after hearing the female voice directing things I suspect the sisters have restarted the experiments.

Edit: Interesting, I typed this response before reading your last game post. You'd think after a this much time in Ravenloft - I wouldn't still be so naive.

Well, holy crap. That was not what I expected. Were-rats, sure. But the rest? NO.

I'd say that Andrzej is just trying to find his feet. The others are the pros.
