You figure your best chance now is to explore some more unknown areas.
You head out and soon encounter a woman who was running down the hall.
"So ye ARE here! YOU KILLED THEM! They died by my blade BUT YOU KILLED THEM! I WILL HAVE VENGEANCE!" she yells charging towards you.
enemy init: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
if you beat her init post actions (she is 40 feet from the group currently)
Caladire "Varn" Sophas |
Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
The sudden rush of the woman catches Varn off-guard and he fumbles while trying to figure out the best response.
Tzadkiel |
Init: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Orlando Nedraid |
Initiative: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
Orlando pointed behind the woman and shouted "Behind you!" with urgency.
Bluff: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19
He shrugged.
"Sorry, thought I saw something.
"Now, what's all this about people dead, and how dying by YOUR blade makes it OUR fault?" He said pleasantly, backed up by a leveled heavy crossbow.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
If she doesn't stop I'll fire into her.
heavy crossbow attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14 for a possible 1d10 ⇒ 4 damage.
...Fumble confirm?: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29 .
Tessai Saradesh |
Init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Tessai goes for her sword but is too slow to interpose herself between the woman and the group. "Who did we kill? Are you talking about a demon?"
Othello Bonmarlo |
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
She is a not sane. This might as well be the Abyss.
If Orlando had not talk her down.
He then casts Hold Person on her to stop her. Will DC14
Sorry for the late post. Got hit by the flu hard.
DireMerc |
Easily avoiding the shot from Orlando she continues her charge
will save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
and she is unaffected by the spell from Othello.
"MY PEOPLE WERE AMONG THOSE ON THE SOUTH BANK! YOU ROUTED THEM AND THE DEMONS FORCED TO EXECUTE THE SURVIVORS!"
She leaps foward and flies into a rage taking a mighty downward swing at however is closest.
Aeron (low) or Tessai (high)?: 1d20 ⇒ 2
attack on Aeron: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (19) + 22 = 412d6 + 24 ⇒ (4, 2) + 24 = 30 That's a hit.
confirm crit on Aeron: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (13) + 22 = 35
I think that confirms also. 60 damage. ouch.
Her turn is over your up if you haven't gone yet.

Aeron howls as the woman's blow slices through his armour. "Ya it's our fault that the demon's betrayed their pawns. You can complain about the injustice of it all after we send your soul to the abyss."
Attack: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (19) + 18 = 37
Confirm?: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (16) + 18 = 34
Ya well, two people can play that game...
Vital strike Crit: 4d4 + 86 + 2d4 + 30 ⇒ (3, 3, 2, 1) + 86 + (3, 2) + 30 = 130
Orlando Nedraid |
"She knows stuff. Take her alive." Orlando muttered to his companions as he let his stupid malfunctioning cursed crossbow fall.
"WE did not slay your people! THEY did! Join us and you may slake your blade justly in their lying teeth!" He shouted at the barbarian.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Swift act
He used a Mythic surge to make a Sudden Strike against her, drawing his rapier and moving next to her in a barely visible blur.
Sudden Strike rapier attack (nonlethal)(with Myth surge) vs Flatfooted AC: 1d20 + 16 + 2 + 1d6 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 16 + 2 + (1) - 4 = 24 for a possible 1d6 + 9 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 9 + 7 = 19 cold iron, piercing, magic, precision and nonlethal damage.
Full round attacks
rapier attack #1 (nonlethal) w/panache: 1d20 + 16 - 4 ⇒ (6) + 16 - 4 = 18 for a possible 1d6 + 9 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 9 + 14 = 25 cold iron, percing, magic, precision (doubled) and nonlethal damage.
rapier attack #2 (nonlethal): 1d20 + 11 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 11 - 4 = 20 for a possible 1d6 + 9 + 74 ⇒ (5) + 9 + 74 = 88 cold iron, percing, magic, precision and nonlethal damage.
A lackluster performance. Critics are disappointed...
Caladire "Varn" Sophas |
Varn decides to follow Othello's lead and attempts to freeze the raging barbarian in place! "Hold your tongue!"
-1 MP for Wild Arcana to cast Hold Person on the crazy woman! Will Save DC 20 negates, otherwise she is held for 9 rounds.
Orlando Nedraid |
"Get rope quick! Before she throws it off!" Orlando said, dropping his rapier and disarming the barbarian as fast as possible.
Tzadkiel |
Tzad will assist at the rope tying.
CMB: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Calm down woman. We do not wish to have to hurt you. We have done nothing to deserve your wrath.
I am back.
Tzadkiel |
Tes, is this woman evil? Is redemption possible?
Orlando Nedraid |
Orlando swore as he wrestled with only one of her arms.
"Ow! She's connected with the local survivors of the demon invasion!
"Look at her! She's a HUMAN and not some variety of a demon like all the rest we've found so far. We need her people as allies!
"We gotta at least try and get her to base camp! We'll have a better chance convincing her there than here!" He said with effort.
Tzadkiel |
No There is still this demon succubus. It is critical we find her while she is still weak. Turning to the barbarian Tzakdiel says If you would hear the truth then listen to me. We would give you the chance to avenge your people, but against the true target of who did them wrong - against the demons we fight. We know you hold no evil in your heard. Surely you can see that it was your association with these demon hordes that were your people's downfall. By Milani, I would see you free with your sword in your hand standing with us. My name is Tzadkiel a servant of Milani, goddess of all those who fight against oppression and unjust rule. If you pray to her she will surely answer. How can I convince you that my words are true?
Diplomacy with mythic surge: 1d20 + 17 + 1d6 ⇒ (12) + 17 + (6) = 35
I am unsure of how the redemption rules work, but I would like to begin to try that if Tzadkiel thinks that can work.
Tessai Saradesh |
Tessai stands nearby while Tzadkiel makes his speech. "I swear by Iomedae's bared blade that we are not your enemny. The demons are the enemy of every living being on this planet. If you want vengeance for your people, direct your ire against them."

"She calms somewhat...You think I don't know that! I am from Gundrun! "
Gundrun is/was the last remaining human settlement inside the borders of the worldworld. Since it was outside the wardstone barrier it was left to fend for itself when the crusade retreated out of the worlwound it was assumed to have been destroyed.
Caladire "Varn" Sophas |
Knowledge: Local: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (9) + 13 = 22
Varn quirks his head when the woman mentions Gundrun. "Gundrun? It was believed you were all destroyed by the demons. If what you say is true; how did you survive?"
Tzadkiel |
Tzadkiel will cast a healing spell on the woman to close some of her wounds. All the more reason to fight with us against these demons. Might I know your name?
Cure Light: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
I you will give me your word that you will stay with us and not fight against us in any way I will untie you. We are not your enemy and there is a demon somewhere near by that we must try to kill this day.
DireMerc |
"It was overrun and lost to the demons for a time. Our people were scattered but we rallied and after a few years we took the city back. Even now Gundrun, a human city still stands and it's still free...For five years we resisted...The toll was immense. Then the demons wanted to negotiate. They offered a ceasefire...The cost...Was high but not as high as fighting so we agreed. I...We came here to serve the demons as tributes to preserve the ceasefire..Now that may be lost."
Tzadkiel |
Your people are brave and deserve another chance. I will speak to our leaders about Gundrun. The tides of battle shift and the Crusade is on the move. We retake lands that were lost. Knowing that Gundrun still stands will allow our generals to work to re-capture it. Have hope and lend your sword to this just cause. Can you do this? Can you once again be a hero? I for one will be proud to stand beside you. Tzad is still waiting for her word so she might be untied.
DireMerc |
"Aye, for better or for worst I will trow in my lot with you. The demons are more powerful now than ever and it's only a matter of time until they attacked ceasefire or not. They have potions that they recently learned how to create. I don't know the details but any creature that drinks one either dies or becomes insanely more powerful. They only have a few now but they are planning to mass produce them."
Tzadkiel |
Unless someone objects Tzadkiel begins to untie the barbarian. Once she is untied he offers her his hand in friendship as he life links her and her wounds begin to heal. Welcome to the team.
Need to know how much everyone is down. Likely I need to channel before I receive damage from everyone hurt...
Caladire "Varn" Sophas |
"These potions wouldn't happen to be made from a silver liquid by chance?" Varn thinks back to the quicksilver liquid he had found along with the book about the Philospher's Stone...
I still need to decide what to do with that... We must make sure to utilize that liquid within 24 hours of finding it or it goes inert. If we do not need it for a Resurrection, then I suggest we gather as much iron or lead as we can find and allow a really good alchemist to do some money making! You need 10 ranks in Craft: Alchemy.
Aeron Stillwaters |
Aeron is down 30 and Tzad is down 30 minus and DR you get from your shield other
Aeron looks down at the giant rent in his armour and then over at the woman"Seriously? She tried to cut me in half...You're a better man than I, Tzadkiel."
Tzadkiel |
Reviewing I think its just Aeron and the barbarian that are wounded. Tzadkiel allow the life link to heal her and Aeron for a total of 10 rounds while channeling to heal her, himself and Aeron. That is 50 hp each.
As the life link begins to heal the fighter and barbarian wounds appear on the oracle and he swoons slightly with the incoming damage. After 4 rounds of this he channels positive energy and healing light washes over the group. The life link continues for 6 more rounds and he heals himself before channels a second time.
Channel: 7d6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 1, 3, 5, 1, 1, 3) + 1 = 17
Mythic Cure Serious: 6d8 + 16 + 1 ⇒ (1, 3, 8, 4, 5, 8) + 16 + 1 = 46
Channel: 7d6 + 1 ⇒ (5, 2, 5, 3, 1, 6, 4) + 1 = 27
Aeron and Tzadkiel should both be full and that is a total of 105 points of healing to the barbarian, including that cure light earlier. Also this renews Beacon of Hope for 8 more rounds. Beacon of Hope (8 rounds) +2 morale bonus to attacks, saves, skills, ability checks for those in your channel.
You are under the protection of Milani and I will do what I can to protect you. Lets us move quickly to find and kill this fiend.
DireMerc |
"I am with you if you decide to make the attempt. However it wont be easy. Staunton is easily the second strongest in the fortress, second only to Eustoyriax the shadow demon. Lucky for us while Eustoyriax is the master of this place he never leaves the lower level dungeons I have never even seen him only heard rumours." says Jestak
Tzadkiel |
No, our mission now is to find and kill the Succubus. This is a surgical strike and not a campaign. We will find her and kill her if we can and then we need to withdraw to prepare for a second strike.
DireMerc |
"Succubus? I see you fought Kiranda. If she escaped and was wounded she would likely go to Staunton. It's the safest place in the fortress and his brother is usually near him and he is a powerful cleric. I recently heard that Staunton actually had his brother locked up and placed under guard in his quarters however but Kiranda might not know that she rarely leaves her den." says Jestak
Orlando Nedraid |
"Well, shall we continue to explore spaces here that we have not been to yet?" Asked Orlando, dusting himself off and picking up his crossbow.
He looked forward, down the passageways nobody had been down yet.
