Casting: When casting a spell defensivly if you fail you do not automaticly lose the spell, rather you provoke an attack as you normally would for not casting defensive. If you are hit you must make a concentration check dc 10+damage taken if you fail this check you lose the spell.

Rolls:
Many rolls will be handled by the GM in secret.(don't worry, I don't fudge.)
Any result that can influence the character behavior will not be rolled open.
Rolls that will be handled by the GM:
Perception
Sense Motive.

if you make the check I will send you a pm or make a post and put it in a spoiler depending on the situation.

Sometimes I will roll Initiative others I will ask you to roll depending on the situation. In some situation (rarely) I will bypass init entirely and have you all go first and enemies second or have enemies go first and you all go after.

Combat rules:
I'm a fair GM, I dont roll combat in secret, I don't change results, I don't ignore bad calls from the characters.
Sometimes, character dies, but I'm not a player killer, if I think that an encounter will be easy handled, when it should be more challenging, I will make it a more challenging, if the party it's not prepared to face something, I will drop hints, if they insist... well killing one or two players never made me lack sleep...

Actions:
I'm a GM that do not punish the character for trying something new or cool, or even strange. Visual appealing actions are encouraged, the dc will of course depend on what are you trying, but you can try! If what you want to do is wicked cool, I can even bend the game mechanics to allow it! The most importat part is: You are villains. Villains are smart, resourceful and have style! Have you ever seen a memorable villain that could just swing his sword and do nothing more?

Posting Rate
If it could be done, I expect 1/day posting, if you can post more, it will really good.
During weekend, this rule does not apply. If you are able to post, great! But dont stress over this, everyone need some time to rest (In my case, I need time to play and DM :D on my tabletop games).

Level up
Aside from character creation, when you level up, if you want something not from core rulebook, you'll need to search it inside the game. basicly what you need to do is just show in game your character is searching for that knowledge. This rule is not meant to prohibit anything, I just don't like something like this: "Character always as a full caster, never picked up a sword in his entire life, and then he gain a new level and says: Master, I'll level up as a fighter now..."

Ok, now you got me hesitating... The mount is just plain cool, and it seems to fit a paladin like no other, but Radiance IS Raiance :D

Is it assumed to already be a +1 weapon as far as the abilities I can add to it, correct?


Yes and later on it gains additional enhancement bonus until it reaches +5

Ok, just to forcibly move us along. Paradise hill should be our next strike point. Considering that they have prisoner, I don't necessarily think that we should rest before we attack. I assume that we at least have the consumables to top everyone up?

Hey guys, I will be leaving for vacation on 3/11 through 3/18. How did you 'summon a heavy stone slab behind the demon'?

Stone shape has a range of touch, so even if there had been a ceiling initially above the vrock you would have to actually touch the stone. If you are changing one behind it, you have to actually touch it. The spell also only affects the stone touched, so in a stone block building, it only affects one stone.


Aeron Is correct actually. the spell stone shape doesn't really work that way. I re-read it just now and you wouldn't have been able to do the fist ceiling thing at all because it requires you to touch the stone you are shaping. It was never really intended as a combat spell.

The spell is cast by doing the following: taking out soft clay, which must be worked into roughly the desired shape of the stone object wanted and then touched to the stone while the verbal component is uttered. The stone then takes that shape you wanted and the spell is over you cant actually manipulate the stone all that well.

Going to start taking levels in Riftwarden now. I'll have all my leveling stuff up in a bit. Hey Merc, would selecting the Abyss be the best option for Favored Terrain for the Riftwarden? I am assuming at some point we will be spending time in the Abyss?


I'm kinda lost - I think I have been taking average hp for Tessai... Was that an option, or we need to roll?

Later on yes. You are currently in book 2 and the trip in the abyss happens in book 5 and 6 I think.

I always ask people to roll but if you took average that's ok just start rolling from here on.

Favored enemy: the ranger select a creature type from the favored enemies table. He gains a +2 bonus on Bluff, Knowledge, Perception, Sense Motive, and Survival checks against creatures of his selected type. Likewise, he gets a +2 bonus on weapon attack and damage rolls against them. A ranger may make Knowledge skill checks untrained when attempting to identify these creatures.

so no doesn't apply to spells.

Right on! I've heard some folks argue that "weapon attacks" could count towards attack spells, so I was not sure. I think I'll go ahead and take favored enemy Outsider: Evil since you never know when you have to get into a good old fashion melee with some demons! Besides, it's better than wasting my selection on a Favored Terrain that we won't use for lord only knows how many levels!

One more level for this little beauty...

Planar Channel (Su): At 2nd level, a Riftwarden can channel baneful energies against creatures with the extraplanar subtype, regardless of alignment or plane of origin, as the cleric’s channel energy ability. The Riftwarden deals damage as a cleric of a level equal to her highest caster level. This energy can only harm, not heal. This ability cannot be used with feats, magic items, or other effects that modify channel energy. A Riftwarden can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + her bonus for the relevant ability of the spellcasting class she selected.

I've decided to go ahead and take Augment Summoning for my 7th level feat.


That is what the enemy is counting on. That you will be tired from the days fighting and not a full strength when he moves in for a counter-attack.

Question... when we do regain our Mythic Power? I just read through the rulebook and cannot find anywhere that actually states anything about regaining them. Would it be the Standard 8 hours of rest?


Well that actually depends on the source of the power (passed on, granted by artifact, godling character ect...) but pretty sure I read somewhere that for this campaign they refresh at dawn.

I'll have to re-read my mythic book to confirm but pretty sure yeah.

You could for example have a green lantern character who gets his mythic powers from an artifact (a ring) and can regain them by pressing it against a lantern and saying a chant once a day.

Then of course you have the downside that if he loses the ring or lantern he would lose his mythic powers.

RAW, mythic power is X number of uses per day. It falls into the same grey area as items with X number of uses per day.

Thematically, regaining them at dawn is pretty appropriate.


Also just so you know you current forces are around ~100 4th level paladins (all mounted and armed with cold iron swords and longbows), 12 3rd level clerics and 50 irregulars (fighters, rogues, rangers). You also have a few lieutenants. A 7th level paladin (Irabeth), a 6th level cleric (Sociel), a 6th level rogue (Aeron), a 6th level rogue/ranger (Anivia) an 8th level bard (Nurah) and a 7th level wizard (Aravashial)


If you have orders for the troops give them to me and I will see them carried out!


I will scout ahead and if you need a lock picked ask me.


I am a master of lore on demons and portals and I will do my best to counter spell directed at our forces.


I was at Drezen before it fell and vaguely remember the layout I will also boost our troops morale with my music.


If you require healing you can ask me and my clerics for aid.


I can also scout and snipe enemies from afar. I am fully healed now and I wont be a burden anymore!

Aeron can't really do much against the gargoyles while they are flying. Go, go magicky and shooty guys.

Also, I just realized that Aeron only has like 5k worth of gear and that normal wealth for a 7th level PC is 23,500gp. Am I alone in this? Is everyone in the same boat / is low WBL is a feature of this AP, or do I need to be a little greedier with taking loot?


Hmm raven was tracking loot did anyone take over? You should have received at least 7k in reward money so far and that doesn't include the dozen of magic weapons you found and I would assume sold.

I will check what happen to the loot and make a post in a while.

I believe Aeron took over the loot tracker, but I think part of the issue we are running into... is that we've been splitting our rewards amongst the party and then keep losing folks. Plus... to be honest, I do feel like we are quite a bit behind on WBL. I believe Varn is currently around 10K in magical items.

RANSEUR OF THE GARGOYLE
A ranseur of the gargoyle appears to have a head crafted of obsidian, but is in fact as hard and resilient as steel. This weapon functions as a +1 ranseur that grants a +4 bonus on disarm checks rather than the typical +2 bonus a ranseur grants. One per day as a standard action while wielding the ranseur you can call can cast stoneskin (cl 7) on yourself and your skin takes on the appearance of stone.

WARDSTONE SHARDS (one to each player)
standard action, a wardstone shard may be rubbed along a weapon or a suit of armor to transfer the shard’s magic to the weapon or armor for 1 day. Each fragment can only be used once and turns to dust afterwards.

Weapon: A weapon enhanced by a wardstone shard gains the evil outsider bane quality, and is treated a good weapon for the purposes of overcoming a demon’s damage reduction. The shard cannot be used to enhance ammunition in this manner, but can be used to enhance a weapon that fires ammunition; doing so causes the weapon to impart these qualities to the ammunition as it is fired.

Armor: A suit of armor enhanced by a wardstone shard gains the spell resistance (13) armor special ability, but only against evil outsiders. Against demons, this spell resistance increases to 17. A nonmagical suit of armor also gains a +1 enhancement bonus as well.

There is some loot that I missed I'm sure I was just quickly browsing trough. Is it however true that almost no loot was gained since you left Kenabres at level 5. Most of the loot to be found here is inside the citadel.

Sorry, I didn't mean for anyone collate the loot data again. The loot list is up to date and we do have 4k gold in the bank, plus some other more recent stuff that we will sell. (Link is above my profile pic)

Most of the stuff we've found hasn't been useful for my character, so I haven't been taking it. I was just wondering where other people were at (since I was too lazy to look it up), to see if Aeron was falling behind. That being said, I'm not advocating selling items that are useful to other PCs, just for the sake of making things equal. I was just curious.

I guess with 6 PCs there will also be less loot (unless diremerc has been padding the totals).

Good to know we'll stock on some good stuff in the Citadel... if we survive that is! :) I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I'm super stoked to hit 3rd Tier... Getting all my spells back by expending 1 MP and resting for a short time, yes please!

I do believe taking the citadel will solve your problem.

And no I haven't been increasing the loot but in my real life group this hasn't been a problem and they are also six.
