Pelner is able to direct the creature down from it's perch towards the strange being that holds the bottle of brandy. When the bird nears him, the small creature screams out in a gargled voice, it's beady red going wide.

As it attempts to flee, Koayi and Emil get a better look at it and she manages to almost bonk the tiny fiend on the head.

Aoefol nods to Koayi. "I'm alright, but that monster took the brandy," he says perhaps a little too distressed.

Now others are pouring out of the shadow, four more tiny figures that you can all see to be grinning with the dagger like teeth of Goblins. They hold gnarled knifes and weapons made out of garbage. They wear armor that appear to be more than clothing mixed with trash and they edge into the circle of light around the group.

Like I said, we're going to try this sans map. there are five goblin and each of you is within move range. Let's pretend that the bar and the two staircases are at the top of the room, with the bar being twelve on a clock face. We have goblins around you in a circle. There's the one counter clockwise from the bar that Koayi struck at and there's one near the second staircase (the one on the left side of the room that Konstantine is not on) there is one at six and one at seven o' clock and one is heading for the outside exit Initiative everyone and first round actions please!

If he can do so without provoking an attack of opportunity, Emil will cast protection from evil on Lil. Otherwise, he will attack the nearest one with his sickle. "A foul storm indeed to spew such vermin into our midst!"

Spell Description:
Protection from Evil wrote:

This spell wards a creature from attacks by evil creatures, from mental control, and from summoned creatures. It creates a magical barrier around the subject at a distance of 1 foot. The barrier moves with the subject and has three major effects.

First, the subject gains a +2 deflection bonus to AC and a +2 resistance bonus on saves. Both these bonuses apply against attacks made or effects created by evil creatures.

Second, the subject immediately receives another saving throw (if one was allowed to begin with) against any spells or effects that possess or exercise mental control over the creature (including enchantment [charm] effects and enchantment [compulsion] effects, such as charm person, command, and dominate person).

Third, the spell prevents bodily contact by evil summoned creatures.

Duration: 1 minute.

Sickle damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6

Position: not sure where the fireplace and the entrance are with respect to the bar or the clock face, but Emil is near the fireplace, trying to protect Lil and his animals from attack. I believe Pelner and Rhaym may be close by.

I notice you don't seem to proofread your texts before posting, so I'm wondering if this sentence was meant to read "They wear armor that appears to be little more than clothing mixed with trash..." It makes a difference in what kind of AC we might judge them to have based on that description.

Even when I look over them it's usually too soon for me to see the errors myself and by the time I can see them the hour I have to edit things is up.

Round One
As the creatures scamper into position Pelner steps back from the brandy covered Goblin and fires a small missile from his sling towards the creature. The Goblin is struck in the chest and topples onto his butt in a sitting position with a confused look on his wide, green face.

Sir Rhaym is already in full motion toward the Goblin his chosen Goblin. His weapon slams into the Goblin’s head, sinking in and leaving the right side of his face flattened. The Goblin drops to the floor in a spray of blood and teeth. The two nearest Goblins to what Rhaym has done make for the door screaming in terror.

The Goblin near Emil and the fire place seems drawn to the flames and the promise of small animals to terrorize. He reaches into a satchel at his side and throws a tiny handful of sand at Lil’s eyes.

Pocket Sand: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 - 4 = 11

The sand misses her eyes, but manages to hit the bottom of her face. ”Goddess! My mouth!” Lil yells, sputtering to get the sand out.

The Goblin near Pelner gets back to his feet and readies himself to pounce on the Druid with renewed anger and some lingering confusion over how he fell. Father Emil’s sickle pierces the chest of the Goblin that threw sand at Lil and the creature goes limp and crumples to the stonework floors.

Yverstrix manages to block the exit just before the Goblin running for it can escape and, right behind that Goblin, Sarmonia catches up with the second fleeing fiend and slices a deep slit into its throat. It drops to the floor gurgling blood and kicking until it goes still. Enel swoops down catching the Goblin running towards his companion off guard with a flurry of attacks. The Goblin thrashes about in a feeble defense, dropping the bottle of brandy to shatter on the floor and eventually dropping into the broken glass with red gashes and holes all over its face.

Lil uses her chance to stand up. She can’t speak due to the sand in the mouth, but she holds the small otter close, protecting it from harm.

The Goblin at the bar is dead and the only Goblin left now is the one standing in front of Yverstrix. I’m going to give Koayi Aimaina a chance to change her actions as the Goblin she went after died before her turn and then we can move on to the next round.

Emil hangs his sickle on his belt as he heads for his pack and weapons next to the door. If we're still in melee rounds, that's probably all he will be able to do. He will then pick up his bow and quiver of arrows and step out into the night to look for other goblins or enemies near the front door. His light spell still illumines his area. He will nock an arrow and peer into the storm.

"If any others are hiding in the storm, know that your friends are all dead. You will be too if you persist in this unjust attack!" he calls out into the teeth of the storm.

After he says this, he thinks, Erastil forgive my lie, but I doubt the followers of a goddess of vengeance will let the last one live, nor will I grieve if it comes to that.

He will stand guard at the threshold for a few rounds before returning to the temple and securing the doors.

Rhaym:
There's a lingering aura of evil near the doors, but nowhere else. There is only one such aura and it belonged to a creature. Whatever it was, you can tell that it only recently passed.

Most of the temple prostitutes are cowering and whimpering at the top of the stairs. They squat down behind the railing and peek out from between the rails. Only now are they beginning to sense that the danger has passed.

Aoefol, seeming not too phased, is already cleaning up the glass and moving the tiny dead Goblin body to the side to do it.

"Stinkuk is beggers. Don't big longshanks kill Stinkuk!" the Goblin cries shaking his head and struggling against his bonds. "Stinkuk and Madshades just come because we told there be shinys and fire for who bring back thing."

I, personally, am not angry with you, but my goddess demands vengeance for your desecration of her sacred ground, and I would prefer to take it against whoever used you and Madshades.

Stinkuk looks at Koayi and then at Pelner. "Stinkuk no know. We not see who sent Madshades. But longshanks always have fire and shinys. Him said when we found thing, he would know. Say him care not for shinys or fire. Him could put words in Stinkuk's head. Put words in all the Madshades heads!"

Emil returns from outside and, after examining the exterior of the doors to see if there is anything unusual marking them, draws the doors closed. Surely the Madshade tribe would not send only five to find this...thing?" Almost as an afterthought, she mentions, "Yverstrix seems to be getting annoyed with you."

Aoefol nods. "Thank you, sir," he says to Emil.

"Mudshades tribe," Stinkuk tells Koayi and Yverstrix nodding his head. "All Mudshades here. And Creekskulls. And Riskaxes..."

Rhaym exits out the door to quickly check the street. The sound of the rain floods into the room and a moment later Rhaym dashes back into the room screaming.

Before Emil can leave Lil dashes up and kisses him on the cheek, placing the sprig of lavender that decorates her hair just under his collar so that it sticks out. "You all be safe, my knots will hold a goblin--they hold men three times that size," she gives the group a flash of a smile.

It's a cool rainy night and the salty sea wind whips through the narrow streets. Further up the cobblestones in the direction that Rhaym is looking you see a woman with her hands cupped around her mouth calling into the night.

"Goblins! We've been attacked!"

For Those Who Stayed Behind:
Konstantine walks out to the center of the room between the two staircases. "Lil, you supervise them in getting these bodies out of here. If the blood soaks into the stonework we're going to have a hard time getting it out. Pile the bodies on that filthy rug from Cassandra's room and wrap them in it to make them easier to dispose of," as she is saying this she glances up at the remaining temple prostitutes. "You all are to help her."

Konstantine nods to Pelner. "You and the other travelers have my gratitude. You've got full use of the facilities here and a bed to sleep in as long as you're in town." She makes her way up the stairs and out of sight.

Aoefol sighs. "Goblin bites and body clean up is a little too rich for my blood. There's someone warm waiting for me in my bed--I only hope the sound of skulls being bashed in didn't frighten them[ away." the elf strolls to a door off to the side of the stairs that almost blends right into the wall. He gives a small salute before departing.

Those left are left alone with the clean up crew after the fight and a whimpering Goblin survivor of the Mudshades tribe.

Others are probably being attacked as well. I swear by the Goddess's name, I'll see this attack avenged." Her fox eyes glint coldly in the moments before her Dancing Lights flicker out.

Koayi tries to recall what other religions have holy places here.

Father Emil looks slightly flustered by Lil's kiss and gift. "Bless you, child." Gathering his weapons he nods at the Goblin on the floor and says, "Don't hurt him further." As he heads out, he adds, "Pelner, we could use your sling and your wisdom. Whoever stays behind, bar this door if you can."

Catching up to Rhaym and Koayi, he does a double-take at her fox features, but takes it in stride, having encountered kitsune before. Sensing her discomfort from the rain, he raises his shield to serve as an umbrella over her. After hearing the woman's statement, he asks, "Wait, calm down. Who has all been killed? The goblins or the Desna temple residents?"

Emil has been to Riddleport over his years as pastor of Lake Trinity. He would know of any temples or centers of worship for Erastil, if there are any, provided things haven't changed since last he visited. He also tries to think about what other temples might be in this run-down area, since he sometimes has to stand in for clergy of other religions when a follower of Desna or some other deity needs assistance.

Emil has no ranks in Knowledge(local) so this is more of an intelligence check, but given his background, he would have a chance at knowing something like this. It's a problem with PF when 1st levels start the game with more knowledge than can be reflected by the distribution of skill ranks. There would be some minuses for his unfamiliarity with the city and the darkness, etc., I imagine.

Yverstrix scowls at the goblin, "If I come back and you've done anything other than obey these people and stay out of the way... You'll be wishing that I'd just taken your head off clean with my axe."

Pretty sure he'll stay compliant for a while, but just trying to make sure he remains that way.

He then rushes out to join the others, following Koayi's dancing torchlight.

Pelner looks out at his new acquaintances going out in the storm to help others. He sighs, then takes off his backpack, leaving behind everything except his sling staff, armor, and holy symbol. He gestures to Enel to stay and guard the goblin.
Trying to get him to do something along the lines of the menace trick. Taking ten on handle animal for a 22.

He gives the goblin's bindings one more look, then calls out to the rest left in the room, "Keep an eye on the goblin, please. And try not to let anything happen to En here," he says, pointing at the bird.

He steps out into the storm for a grimace. He looks back and asks, "And could someone please bar the door like he asked? Thanks." He then runs to catch up with the others, the rain falling thunderously all around him, and he finds himself suddenly smiling.

This is to notice the sprig of lavender. I'm thinking it's a DC 15 check, plus two for unfavorable conditions (hence the -2).

Koayi shakes most of the rainwater off her head and quickly steps under Father Emil’s raised shield. She moves close to him to ease the strain of holding the shield so high. As she does, she spots the sprig of lavender in his collar. She flashes the priest a toothy grin and a quick wink, and whispers in his ear:

”You and that otter must’ve really caught Lil's attention. I’m not sure if she usually gives sprigs to people, but it’s seems she’s fond of you. I hope you can work it out in whatever way seems best for you-and for her.”

Koayi’s ears perk up as she hears the others approaching.

Scarab Sages

Lil locks the door as the last person leaves.

Koayi:
You know that a Temple of Desna is one street over from this temple and a few blocks up. Temples of Desna are few and far between, so this would be a very noticeable sight.

Emil:
You know that a street over there is a Temple of Desna, you've visited it on more than one occasion and you know of a man who works within the temple, Reed. Though, this temple is little more than an observatory and a place for travelers to rest their heads. It's one of the few formal centers of worship for Desna, as most of her followers are loosely organized.

The woman looks the group over. You can see her eyes are wide with fright. "The Goblins are all dead...some of the others at the temple helped to kill them, but they've hurt Reed--I'm not sure how bad it is," she breaks down crying.

Koayi:
I would say that it's a pretty noticeable thing on his clothes.

"No more goblins at all?" Sarmonia says dejectedly. "Perhaps we should check the other temples." He adds with some hope.

Emil says, with some urgency, "I am familiar with this temple and Reed. I'll go and see to the wounded. The Calistria temple was also hit by goblins. We defeated them before they did much harm. Are there any other temples near here which may have been attacked?"

Retired

"Be careful in there, Father. There could be surviving goblins."

Koayi ducks out from under Emil's raised shield, moving to the rain-soaked woman. She takes her drenched tabard and uses it to wipe the tears from the woman's eyes, then embraces her.

"Reed will be alright. Father Emil's good at fixing people. He fixed Aeofol up when the goblin bit him. It's okay, it's over now. I'm Koayi. What's your name?"

Koayi is still obviously unhappy with the rain, but she's also concerned about this woman's emotions She's trying to be as comforting as possible, given the rain and the situation.

Yverstrix follows the old cleric, "No offense, but I'd be feeling better if you had a bodyguard. "
