Ok, there seems to be a general consensus that Vug casts Communal Airwalk this round on Bublaka, Friar Ferez, and herself, so we'll go with that. Ok, Bublaka and Friar Ferez your both up. Someone please volunteer to run Vug Vang until November 1st.

Valgrim:
You notice that with the creature now enraged, a multitude of quills have flared out from beneath the fur into a aura of potential pain to whomever strikes at it. Valgrim does not expect to get away unscathed if he hits it in melee and the quills have the same barbs that the ones flung had. It also backed off 5' feet to give itself some striking room which also gives you a little more breathing room from the chasm if you choose to follow it up.

TWTW, you can't cast 2 swift spells in 1 round, right? Because Friar has Grace and a quickened prayer. I think I read somewhere no but just wanted to double check.


Friar Ferez: You are correct, only one swift action a round is allowed. Why only 80'? Shouldn't you be able to go 120' feet with haste? Or did you go less on purpose?

I updated the map un the campaign tab. No one can yet see Valgrim or the creature but you sure can hear them. Vug Vang, Bublaka, and Friar Ferez are grouped in the middle and Vulcan is furthest away.

LOL, Whoooooooo, THAT got it's attention! Nice. DR 10 takes 40 off and it fast heals 10 on it's turn leaving it with 188 damage. Ouch.

Valgrim bleeds his 5 damage and takes 4d10 ⇒ (3, 5, 5, 10) = 23 from quills, He must also make 4 reflex DC 30 saves to keep from having quills stuck in him and sickened.

Valgrim cuts repeatedly into the beasts underbelly. As the creature attempts to snap at him, with it's huge jaws in response, he rewards it with a savage crosscut to the throat that makes it cough up blood. This seems to send the bandersnatch into a primal fury that it unleashes back upon it's antagonist. After the barrage Valgrim realizes his guts are hanging out from a ragged wound in his belly and he feels consciousness fade. Shaking his head he manages to stay on his feet, but the amount of blood that's flowing down his legs says it won't be for long...

Standard action: She pops an elixir of Summon Nature's Ally VII and summons a greater air elemental and commands it to go help the dwarf. The elemental flies off and engages creature with its speed moving to flank it with dwarf, drawing AoO but with its DR 10 and immune to criticals.

Quite gritty there, Valgrim!

Friar's Round 4 action:
Friar shakes off the nausea from the quill sticking out of his ribs. He casts Grace on himself as a swift action, asking for Sarenrae's protection while he walks in the steam. As a standard action, he casts Heal and holds the charge. He then moves (it looks like 40-45') and comes up from behind Valgrim (No AoO due to movement). He is shocked to see how bloody the dwarf is (remembering the time when the black dragon actually killed Valgrim and he was powerless to prevent it) and amazed he still stands and how gigantic the creature is. "Only a brave reckless dwarf like yourself would engage something that big by himself! Thankfully, you have Sarenrae's backing and that is all you need!" With that, Friar touches Valgrim's shoulder, infusing him with bright energy, healing 150 points of damage, and ending the bleed and exhausted conditions. I don't know about sickened since the quill is still in him. "Now get back out there and finish this thing off!"

EDIT: Re-reading the holding the charge, it may take another standard action to touch Valgrim. Definitely, don't want that. If that is the case, Friar walks up from behind the dwarf and casts Heal defensively to avoid AoO: Concentration check: 1d20 + 16 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 16 + 6 = 40 vs. DC 27...success!


Sickened remains until quills are removed.

Bublaka moves to the northnortheast, aiming to get a visual on Valgrim. He begins to perform again, inspiring heroics on Valgrim, and casts a spell on the dwarf, reaching out with his mind to provide aid.

Each time the subject of the spell makes an attack roll, ability check, or skill check, it rolls two d20s and takes the better result. If any roll is a natural 20, the spell's effect ends—your brilliant advice is spent.

Ok, we have all been waiting on pins and needles for this post, so let's see what happens.

Vulcan flies forward and lowers himself to 10' height to see the creature clearly through his companions Fickle Wind cleared areas. He launches a stream of icy shards that strike a glancing blow to the beasts head. His second word of power seems to have no effect at all. The dwarf glares at the creature with a look of murder and finds his head spinning as he stares into the beasts saucerlike luminous blue eyes. Valgrim starts waving his axe in the air, "Nnnnn.....guh. Mmmfergith...shomwith er coy coy!" Clearly not caring for the change in odds, as more people begin to arrive, the bandersnatch strikes out quick as lightning, biting the priest who dared to meddle with it's prey. It turns with the struggling holy man in it's jaws and disappears into the steam. Within the blink of an eye both Bandersnatch and Ferez are gone...

Actually, I think we should have waited to see Bub's response to Valgrim's plea. He can cast Saving Finale as an immediate action (even not on his turn), ended the inspire courage and given Valgrim another Fort save immediately. Up to you.


Well, Valgrim doesn't get a chance to make a plea, just babble. Don't think that matters much though.

So, the bard has to decide whether a saving throw is important enough to end his song for without knowing the consequences?

This power is very metagame-y but hey so are saves. There is no indication that something is wrong until Valgrim begins to yammer and he has been making these saves each round as it is (suddenly this round is different?!). That being said the only way I can make any sense of this ability is that the bard actually sees the result of the failed save and slightly "future bard" throws the extra save back in time. In other words, he senses how things are about to play out and he does like where this song is going :) So I am good with things as they are posted. You still have a decent chance to fail again. I'll just have to give the bard the evil GM eye when he spoils my cinematic fun ;P

EDIT: Also, I would want to do it this way going forward, otherwise we'll have to hold things up every time someone misses a saving throw to see if they reroll or not.

Correct, since it is an immediate action that takes place after the failed saving throw, he knows the results and is given the opportunity to possibly change the future! If he so wishes....


He would end the Inspire heroics effect on you Valgrim. The Inspire Courage would remain because that is granted by the Shadowbard.

The purpose of Bublaka's move was to get LoS to Valgrim, so the rest of the action was predicated on that happening. Which means that Valgrim should have a second chance to roll the save because it was less than a 20. If it still fails, Bublaka would indeed drop his performance to try to aid Valgrim, which potentially gives him two d20 rolls.

Re: Status, I think Valgrim has used some rage today. Looking at my spells, I've gone a terrible job of keeping track what's been cast today, so I will need to go back and audit. I think I have the list updated now, but I'm not certain.

Yay! Actually, this was a new day and I only raged to get damage bonuses for 1 round, so I have 9/10 left. It gives me -2 AC so I tend not to do it when I want high AC, like I wanted against the Bandersnatch.

We're going to go scout with Wind Walk the southern part of the isle, looking for the Titan, once Bub hopefully makes a half decent roll with his +18 modifier Knowledge Planes check so we know what to expect. Know your enemy!

Unfortunately yes, it stops you from recovering any of your daily abilities or spells. So you should currently be down your spells cast the previous day, any you have cast this day, and of course you were not able to memorize the spells you gained at 16th level (you should add whatever you gained for 15th level however, since you were technically supposed to be there already).

Bublaka Knowledge(History): 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (19) + 20 = 39 To build on what you learned about the titan earlier.
