FAQ/rules

Food and water:

Characters eat twice a day, A character can have less than this for 3 days without risk. On the 4th day of low calorie/nutrition intake however, make a CON check DC 10 (+1 for each previous check) or take 1d6 nonlethal damage. As usual if you take more nonlethal than you have hitpoints then this converts to lethal.

Characters require a gallon of water a day. Lack of water is treated as lack of food above, but characters can only go without water for 1 day before they have to start making checks.

Characters who have taken nonlethal damage from lack of food or water are fatigued. Nonlethal damage from thirst or starvation cannot be recovered until the character gets food or water, as needed—not even magic that restores hit points heals this damage.

Rest:

Characters need 8 hours rest/sleep each day. Characters who do not get a full night's sleep may suffer the effects of fatigue. If a PC does not get at least 6 hours of sleep, she must make a DC 15 Fortitude save or be fatigued until the character sleeps a proper night's sleep. A second night without sleep requires another Fortitude save, this time DC 17. A failed save results in the character becoming exhausted. A third night's sleep missed?! DC 21 and failure means the character falls asleep anyway (as per sleep spell) until 8 hours have passed. If woken before that via someone rousing them or damage, they remain exhausted and as soon as the threat is passed they will return to sleep.

Crafting:

The standard time to create of 1 week...out the window.

Instead, for each 8 hour period of downtime spent crafting (max 1/day), a character can make a craft check and apply the check result against the gold piece cost of the item. Once you have accumulated a total craft check meeting or exceeding the gp cost, you have successfully made the item.

These checks can represent time spent foraging for supplies as well as that spent hunched over a hot forge/alchemical lab/stove/sewing needle.

Requirements for tools will be handwaved on the understanding that crafting is only an option in a safe location where you can spend dedicated time on the process, no emergency MacGyvering/A-team/Stark-like shenanigans when you're hiding out in a shed/locked garage/cave!
