Heal: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

And then start opening the crates and barrels.

Lenneth sees that the windows can be opened inwards, and the outside shutters pushed outwards. Whilst not designed for it, a brave soul could use the shutters to assist clambering on to the roof. climb DC 15

Lilith recalls what she knows of house construction and design, and tries to piece things together with her experiences in this town. Most buildings here would have thatch or slate roofs, at an angle unfit for casual travel by any but the most dedicated cat burglar. It appears the more modern designs of flat roofs for additional space for gardens and the like have not made their way down to this neck of the woods. Lilith notes the architecture is positively barbaric compared to what she was used to in Cheliax. Both thatch and slate would be sodden following all that rain so extra slippery too. That being said, you haven't seen any zombies up on roofs yet, so it would be safe in that respect.

Azmerai searches In a dedicated manner, but to no avail. He is able to find some old sailcloth to use as a tarp for dragging things, but the rope he finds is frayed and weak, the metal rusted and the wood cracked and splintered, fit only for his fire.

Polonius finds nothing unexpected among the bodies Are you disturbing the prayer script to unwrap the bodies to examine them or just looking at them as they are? The crates contain bottled rotgut rum, average wine likely just above vinegar in quality, and a few bottles of fancy liquor in a fetchingly designed green bottle. Just looking at it makes the room seem to swim. Lastly there are two flasks of lamp oil left.

He looks at Polonius and the Turrey and winks them closer."Want to check stable or want to check inn. Inn might have food, and stuff, maybe warm wool. What do you say?"

(KILLED IN ACTION) | Gnome | Alchemist 4

Now that these tunnels have been widened and cleaned I'd rather get out of.these disgusting clothes Polo says miserably.

But there will be time for that later. There's some useful stuff here but still no food and that's what we really need. I'd be tempted to try the inn first.

Does the door to the inn appear locked or barred from the other side?

Once he's sure the tunnel is sufficiently reinforced, Shomari follows the gnome into the stables basement. Spotting the trap door, he shimmies up the wall and silently lifts it just enough to peek through, though he can't see much before he lets the trap down gently and silently drops to the floor.

"It didn't look like it would be easy to climb onto the roof from that upstairs window, but I think it might be safe enough for me to open the window and peek outside. If nothing else, it'd make for a good place to shoot from if any of those things are wandering around outside. I'll go take another look; seems like you guys have things in hand here for the moment."

Lenneth heads back upstairs to the shuttered window. She'll only open up the windows at first, moving slowly and stopping to listen for any unusual noise.

Judging from his ineffective pushing and shoving (the door could simply be a wooden paneled mountain for all the movement it's giving him), plus the lack of a keyhole, Polonius believes he has established it is barred from upstairs.

Shomari makes the climb with ease, lifting the trapdoor with barely a whisper. Glancing around, he's able to tell it's a large room, split up in to stalls. Lots of shadows and places to hide if he were of a mind to sneak around up there. He spotted the main entrance door, and another set of stairs going up.

Lenneth is able to open the window without incident, it creaks slightly, but not having been oiled in a while and residing in a seaside area makes this understandable.

Satisfied that there probably won't be anything to fly/climb in and kill her, Lenneth proceeds with pushing the shutters outward, going slowly to make sure that they don't break or make too much noise. Once the window is completely open, she'll cautiously peek outside to see what she can see.

(KILLED IN ACTION) | Gnome | Alchemist 4

Polonius climbs the rope somewhat clumsily but slips into the shadows above once he reaches the top.

Take 10 on climb?

Stealth: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16

Shomari and Azmerai enter the stables with speed and stealth, Shomari in particular executes possibly the first golarion parkour move ever seen, flowing up the wall and through the trapdoor almost like he was able to fly and just pretending to climb. Polonius makes it up thanks to Azmerai's prior use of the grapnel and attached rope.

All three men crouch on the floor next to the open trapdoor, alert for danger. None presents itself at present, and as their eyes adjust to the light, they can see litter and rubbish scattered everywhere, making stealth more difficult -2 to rolls as you pick your way around potentially noisy floorspace. Aside from the open stalls, they can see a closed office over by the half-open main doors. The staircase leading upwards to the upper floor looks rickety but safe.

Lenneth slowly pushes the shutters outwards, and does not attract any unwanted attention. Leaning out she can see a few groaners in the street below, but her eyes are drawn towards the centre of town. There is a massive column of black smoke constantly flowing upwards in a quick moving torrent, eclipsing nearly a third of the skyline she can see. Whatever it is that is on fire, it's not going out on its own any time soon. On the plus side, it hasn't reached any of the nearby buildings yet.

Perception rolls from everyone please

Polo clings to the shadows, his shallow breath deafening in his own ears. He watches Shomari and Azmerai creep toward the office and stairs.

The small folk such as gnomes and halflings have always been able to avoid prying eyes when they needed to - at least for the most part. In most cases they barely stand to the waists of the bigger people so it was easy to remain unnoticed when needed. Over the past few months all Polonius can remember is hiding in the shadows, sneaking from building to building, always stepping lightly to avoid the Groaners.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Somehow he had the feeling that these skills were going to be put to the test. And soon.

interested in the rooftops Lilith plans to go to help Leneth when she is done with her scroll. But she is interrupted when she hears calls for help. Almost in a panic she stops her scribing and calls to the group. I hear people calling for help. I am going out to try to help them! A map of the stables Now no laughing, I left my laptop at work and had to make do!

Shomari creep up the stairs, making the nearby mice jealous of the silence of his footfalls. Reaching the top of the rickety stairs, he glances around, it seems to be a hayloft for the most part, with some riding tack hung on the walls. He suddenly freezes, ten feet away a zombie is standing still, luckily looking away from him. Taking a glance over its shoulder he can see half a dozen more just standing around up here. The decay isn't too bad, these people must have died up here. Shomari realises it would be a very bad idea to make loud sounds downstairs, as the zombies would likely just move towards the source, tumbling over the flimsy guardrail up here and raining walking corpses on whoever was being noisy downstairs...

Lenneth sees several buildings around, but none that draw any particular attention to themselves. Indigo has cocked his head and is staring at you, his shadow flickers against the wall, out of sync with the movements of his lashing tail.

Azmerai and Polonius approach the office door. It's made of the same hard wood that the stalls are, rough and unvarnished. It is open a crack, and you can see someone sat hunched over the desk in here, they aren't moving.

Lilith moves to the nearest window to peek out, but just sees groaners moving past at walking pace towards the screams. She concludes whatever is happening it is doing so down the alley next to the shop, where unfortunately there are no windows to overlook. If she wants to know what is going on, she'll have to venture outside...

I never wanted to be a hero. Lilith hears herself thinking as she ponders what to do.

I had asked earlier about the roofline? Is it too steep to safely walk on? Could Lilith go out a window upstairs and overlook the ally? If so she does that. If not, she takes a deep breath and, using her power to teleport short distances steps through the wall at the window (this is a swift action. She will need to know what she sees as likely she will be casting Disrupt Undead.

Lilith, post here at the top of the page has a description of the roofs of the town. Long story short, the roofs are not designed to be walked on, it would be a precarious and dangerous option to travel that way. The windows of the shop face East and West (by the map) and don't cover the alleyway to the North of the building where the screams are coming from. So if you want to climb out the window and overlook the alleyway, we're talking a climb DC 22, and whilst you're up there the roof is covered in the equivalent of a grease spell, DC 15 to take an action and not slip over, at which point you would need a reflex save to not fall off the roof on to the alleyway. That being said, if Lilith can climb up to the roof in the first place, she could then port to the edge and at least see what's going on.

Azmerai's halberd blow thunks in to the supine zombie, destroying a large portion of its ribcage, it's one remaining eye stares at him as it tries to regain its feet following the blow, but Azmerai nimbly hops down the trapdoor, having thankfully bought enough time to close it after himself.

Shomari arrives back in the stable cellar just in time to see Azmerai regaining his feet after the drop. He can hear moans and groans from up above now, and the occasional bang or scrape as undead arms try to find a way through the thick wood of the trapdoor. You see dust sifting down from above as the ceiling is bludgeoned repeatedly.

Lilith rounds the corner of the alleyway to see a scene of sheer desperation.
Map

A human male and elven female are against the far alley wall, fighting for their lives against three zombies, and a lone dwarf is trying to hold off a zombie either side of him, wielding his axe one handed as he uses the other to try and staunch the bleeding from a nasty looking wound in his side. All three look exhausted and injured, on their last legs.

As Lilith takes in the scene, her mind is drawn to the zombies themselves, they are moving exactly like the groaners she has met before, but these ones appear to have spiked or bladed gauntlets of some type attached to their arms, and chains around their necks.

None of the alley inhabitants have noticed Lilith as yet, however three more groaners are approaching from the north, and will be here in about 3 rounds, and they DO have their eyes firmly set on Lilith.
