These are the voyages of the USS Starship Aubrey, a retrofitted deepspace Constitution-Class vessel, her Captain Kaspar Von Sturm, and the crew fit for nowhere else.
I'm also curious about how we should buy or assign stats for our characters. I'll get details posted to T'neth's profile later, but wanted to get an RP post up to link the thread to my account.
Looking good so far- a few more folks and we can hit warp 5 and get rolling...
When folks have their characters backgrounds and stuff ready, let me or Hiraclio know and we can add you to the bios at ussaubrey.blogspot.com if you want
Heravlio- you have been told by starfleet command to lock controls to only accept and transmit scrambled frequencies. Priority one communication lock down.
You have never seen this general order enacted before.
Ada'em Ojo- you have received authorization and discrete orders from the admiralty to distribute phase rifles to your security crew.
Dr Callahan- sickbay inspection reveals a number of untested radiation sickness medication and treatments. The betazoid nurse did not see anyone stock them when sickbay was being supplied.
Yeah, you just ninja'd me with the Vulcan navigator, Captain. I'll be back to respond to him later.
Thanks for posting the images. I loaded a reference picture of T'neth here. A slight case of using Photoshop to make up for a lack of talent. Yes, in this picture T'neth's hair covers her trademark Vulcan ears. Ear covering hairstyles happen often enough for humans that it shouldn't be too far a reach for the occasional Vulcan. Feel free to add the picture to the blog.
HELM- There is a drag on the ship like nothing you have experienced. It increases gradually as you approach the nebula. making Warp 5 a strain on the hull.
SECURITY- Your inspection of security roster shows several men with dubiously absent histories.
HERACLIO- Strange transmissions from within the nebula... beyond the expected distress signal (coming in weakly), there are odd noises, and interference....

Is this as we approach the nebula or as we enter it? Is the resistance consistent with what would be expected for the interstellar gasses that make up the nebula?

As we approach, still another several hours til nebula horizon.
And no, this is unlike anything you have ever experienced. It almost feels like it's coming in deliberate waves....
Unless the waves are coming at us much sooner than your posts suggested, I think we've got a little dramatic time dilation going on here. T'neth's first in character post about the waves would include a report to the captain, so I'm going to wait for another round or two of the conference to happen before posting to the IC thread. Let me know if I'm misreading your intent.
Meanwhile, T'neth will try to get a sensor reading on whatever this is. Something has to be hitting the Aubrey, so the sensors should be able to pick it up.

Oh yeah yeah.... I give out this info to be used as you see fit... Whatever works for drama purposes, head that direction. I wanted to give you something to chew on while the exec staff is in the conf room. B Story, as it were.
The "Junebug" is an expiramental shuttle with less life support and sensor arrays in exchange for speed and extra radiation plating and atmospheric resistance.
It has only been tested as a deep submergable vehicle in the marianas trench.
As you decode, you hear remnants of a voice... a voice you haven't heard since your days at the academy. A female voice.... Give me some backstory man. Some meaty backstory....
The nebula approach is in the next several hours. The ship is on yellow alert, and it is a BUMPY RIDE. Everyone is getting tense.
The distress signal is chirping from the Communications console, and the onscreen display (provided by T'neth earlier) is disorienting in it's swirling color.
By the way, Ojo really should step in and take the bridge now if he wants to avoid T'neth ordering him around. The fact that he'd be following the captain's orders by taking command is purely coincidental.
T'Neth- The ship halts on the edge of the nebula, and will not budge. There has been a manual lock set in engineering.
OJO- You lose contact with your security detail. The last thing you heard from their communicators was screams and the rattling of a chain.
Heraclio- The voice of a lost love is clear. It is from the same source as the distress beacon. She is calling for anyone to help her and her team. They are not prepared, she says. They didn't know what they had signed up for....
Doctor- Cut to SHUTTLE INTERIOR with the Captain. You have taken off, with three redshirts and a science crewmen in tow.
Oh yeah! Worse than before! Sitting still, rocking, like a clipper ship in a squall!
It's awful!
As you attempt to override, you relaize that the ship's retrofit makes most functions only over-ridable by manual control. as a failsafe, human hands have to pull levers in most cases of emergency lockdown.
