The Voyages of the USS Aubrey
Game Master
joerice
These are the voyages of the USS Starship Aubrey, a retrofitted deepspace Constitution-Class vessel, her Captain Kaspar Von Sturm, and the crew fit for nowhere else.
M Human
Hey, folks. I'm not really the GM, obviously, but the good Captain couldn't open the thread himself.
Male Human Ship's Doctor
What's the point buy for stats? I came up with a 24-pt buy and added two to WIS per Pathfinder human rules. Not sure if that is correct.
Female Vulcan Ensign
I'm also curious about how we should buy or assign stats for our characters. I'll get details posted to T'neth's profile later, but wanted to get an RP post up to link the thread to my account.
m Human Captain
24 points is good. Extra two for humans, wherever.
We can assign for aliens as needed, but right off the top vulcans get +1 to wisdom, strength, and intelligence, -1 charisma.
m Human Captain
Looking good so far- a few more folks and we can hit warp 5 and get rolling...
When folks have their characters backgrounds and stuff ready, let me or Hiraclio know and we can add you to the bios at ussaubrey.blogspot.com if you want
Hi mind if I lurk? I've got absolutely 0 Star trek knowledge but I like what your doing...
A pleasure to introduce you to the Star Trek Universe, Kip. If you ever decide to do more than lurk, let us know.
m Human Captain
Blog has been updated. Mildly.
Female Vulcan Ensign
New images have been stolen for a project I've been working on, mildly.
m Human Captain
Heravlio- you have been told by starfleet command to lock controls to only accept and transmit scrambled frequencies. Priority one communication lock down.
You have never seen this general order enacted before.
m Human Captain
Ada'em Ojo- you have received authorization and discrete orders from the admiralty to distribute phase rifles to your security crew.
Dr Callahan- sickbay inspection reveals a number of untested radiation sickness medication and treatments. The betazoid nurse did not see anyone stock them when sickbay was being supplied.
m Human Captain
I will be introducing some NPCs. When playing them, I will post their name in BOLD at the top of the entry.
m Human Captain
Images and NPC names updated at the Aubrey blog.
m Human Captain
ADA'EM and T'NETH
Something about Lt. Gorchnik is suspicious to you. You have both noticed him slyly handling controls in a way that seems .... fishy....
m Human Captain
It's on, folks! Fee l free to jump in, interact, mix it up!
Female Vulcan Ensign
Yeah, you just ninja'd me with the Vulcan navigator, Captain. I'll be back to respond to him later.
Thanks for posting the images. I loaded a reference picture of T'neth here. A slight case of using Photoshop to make up for a lack of talent. Yes, in this picture T'neth's hair covers her trademark Vulcan ears. Ear covering hairstyles happen often enough for humans that it shouldn't be too far a reach for the occasional Vulcan. Feel free to add the picture to the blog.
Female Vulcan Ensign
You're welcome. I want to circle back and expand T'neth's bio, but want to get some experience playing her to firm up some details first.
Female Vulcan Ensign
Don't worry shipmates. Future departures won't turn into T'neth checklist dumps. I just couldn't resist the first Launching the Ship moment.
m Human Captain
HELM- There is a drag on the ship like nothing you have experienced. It increases gradually as you approach the nebula. making Warp 5 a strain on the hull.
SECURITY- Your inspection of security roster shows several men with dubiously absent histories.
m Human Captain
HERACLIO- Strange transmissions from within the nebula... beyond the expected distress signal (coming in weakly), there are odd noises, and interference....
Kaspar Von Sturm wrote: SECURITY- Your inspection of security roster shows several men with dubiously absent histories.
Are there any all human?

Security Detail:
18 Human
2 Andorian
1 Caitian
1 Tellarite

Is this as we approach the nebula or as we enter it? Is the resistance consistent with what would be expected for the interstellar gasses that make up the nebula?

And no, this is unlike anything you have ever experienced. It almost feels like it's coming in deliberate waves....

Sorry, is this the entire Security Detail, or the men with missing pasts?
Enemies on board? Very interesting. Loved T'neth's take off and the blog is great.
Female Vulcan Ensign
Unless the waves are coming at us much sooner than your posts suggested, I think we've got a little dramatic time dilation going on here. T'neth's first in character post about the waves would include a report to the captain, so I'm going to wait for another round or two of the conference to happen before posting to the IC thread. Let me know if I'm misreading your intent.
Meanwhile, T'neth will try to get a sensor reading on whatever this is. Something has to be hitting the Aubrey, so the sensors should be able to pick it up.

Oh yeah yeah.... I give out this info to be used as you see fit... Whatever works for drama purposes, head that direction. I wanted to give you something to chew on while the exec staff is in the conf room. B Story, as it were.

1 Tellarite Sorry, is this the entire Security Detail, or the men with missing pasts? Oh, sorry.... You're entire detail is 50 red shirts. These are the ones you do not know, with absent/blank records
m Human Captain
The "Junebug" is an expiramental shuttle with less life support and sensor arrays in exchange for speed and extra radiation plating and atmospheric resistance.
It has only been tested as a deep submergable vehicle in the marianas trench.
m Human Captain
KOIKE-
As you decode, you hear remnants of a voice... a voice you haven't heard since your days at the academy. A female voice.... Give me some backstory man. Some meaty backstory....
m Human Captain
CLARIFICATION-
The Intrepid only reported the distress signal. Where (or who) it is coming from is not yet known.

Consider Callahan's posts edited appropriately.
Female Vulcan Ensign
Sorry for the double post, but inspiration hit this morning. And yes, the last thing T'neth said to Sokal was in English.
m Human Captain
WHERE WE ARE:
The nebula approach is in the next several hours. The ship is on yellow alert, and it is a BUMPY RIDE. Everyone is getting tense.
The distress signal is chirping from the Communications console, and the onscreen display (provided by T'neth earlier) is disorienting in it's swirling color.
THE PLOT THICKENS YOU GUYS
Female Vulcan Ensign
And the socially inept Vulcan has just prodded the space crazed loony into running amok. So classic Trek.
m Human Captain
Hahahaha.... Perfect !
I hope you guys are enjoying this so far. Everyone is doing AWESOME.
Female Vulcan Ensign
By the way, Ojo really should step in and take the bridge now if he wants to avoid T'neth ordering him around. The fact that he'd be following the captain's orders by taking command is purely coincidental.
Yeah, crazy day at work. Will post, now.
And thanks, Ruprecht. Having lots of fun!
m Human Captain
T'Neth- The ship halts on the edge of the nebula, and will not budge. There has been a manual lock set in engineering.
OJO- You lose contact with your security detail. The last thing you heard from their communicators was screams and the rattling of a chain.
Heraclio- The voice of a lost love is clear. It is from the same source as the distress beacon. She is calling for anyone to help her and her team. They are not prepared, she says. They didn't know what they had signed up for....
Doctor- Cut to SHUTTLE INTERIOR with the Captain. You have taken off, with three redshirts and a science crewmen in tow.
Female Vulcan Ensign
Is the ship still being rocked by whatever was hitting it?
m Human Captain
Oh yeah! Worse than before! Sitting still, rocking, like a clipper ship in a squall!
It's awful!
As you attempt to override, you relaize that the ship's retrofit makes most functions only over-ridable by manual control. as a failsafe, human hands have to pull levers in most cases of emergency lockdown.
Male Human Ship's Doctor
Kaspar Von Sturm wrote: Doctor- Cut to SHUTTLE INTERIOR with the Captain. You have taken off, with three redshirts and a science crewmen in tow. Hmm, I wonder if any of those redshirts are on Ojo's list of men without a past?
Ojo will respond to Sokal and T'neth once he determines if any of the communications work.
m Human Captain
Ada'em Ojo wrote: Ojo will respond to Sokal and T'neth once he determines if any of the communications work. Just a hiss from engineering decks. No response.
