Rajni |
She shakes her head while rubbing her eyes, "No mama...the sun did that. I don't understand how it can be so bright and so cold at the same time." She yawns and stretches, "Juhi still seems to be asleep, so I came downstairs to make some coffee and see if I could help you with breakfast....but you weren't there and then I heard noise in here....so....I came in here. I didn't mean to interrupt anything." She says as her eyes seem to focus a little more and take in the two women she hadn't seen before in their shop.
Jin Kobayashi |
Jin looks over at the young woman...at least she assumed she was a young woman. Her build was quite athletic and noticeable, even underneath the night clothes she wore. She seemed a little petite as well in build, but unlike herself, didn't appear to be scrawny in the slightest. More like some kind of....hunter or something with the way her eyes seemed to focus on them, as if assessing whether or not they were a threat.
She was a bit confused by their familiarity though. The fetchling was calling Ms. Asha "mama"....when it was absolutely clear as day that the girl wasn't a Vishkanya. She shakes her head as she tries to clear it. There were all kinds of families, made up of all kinds of people. Sometimes, the best families were the ones you weren't even born into. That was only one of the many things she learned growing up with Yamamoto-Sensei. So, if Ms. Asha was her mama....maybe she just took in kids...or people? Not that it mattered.
Bringing herself back to the present she clears her throat slightly, "I'm sorry if we disturbed anyone. I was hesitant to come so early, not knowing anything about anyone here yet....but, Ms. Toni said that you would be open....I think we're almost done here though." She says a bit apologetically.
Rajni |
She gives them a tired smile and waves a hand dismissively, "Nah...you're alright. Take your time finding what you need. It wasn't you that woke me, more like the evil day star outside and it's rays of doom." Looking at her mama she says, "I'm gonna go get caffinated and try to wake up a little bit before Juhi gets up. If it's nice out I'd like to continue with her training today." Giving her mama a kiss on the cheek she heads back into the kitchen to get her coffee.
Jin Kobayashi |
She nods as she watches the one called Rajni walk away, her behavior very unusual for a fetchling. She knew better than most though that someone's identity is not made up from their race, but their heart. She just found the whole thing very fascinating. She just had to keep telling herself that everything was okay, that no one here was going to judge her or make fun of her. She had already seen so many different types of people that she felt sure that no one would harass her for being what she truly was....but she still wasn't ready to reveal that part of herself to anyone yet. She hardly knew these people.
Looking back over at Ms. Asha she says, "Okay, thank you." Not knowing what else to say she waits to see if Hitome wants anything else. She absently wonders over to where the hooded lined cloaks are and starts looking them over.
Jin Kobayashi |
Trying not to seem rude she asks, "So....Ms. Asha....that young woman is your daughter? Do you have very many children?" She thinks about a thick lined black cloak...but seeing as she was trying to get away from the darker colors she continues to look, as she attempts to find something that might go well with the outfit. She didn't particularly care for white since it showed dirt and such so easily...but she wasn't sure what color would go with her new attire. She lets out a little frustrated sigh, apparently overwhelmed by all the choices.
Jin Kobayashi |
She nods understandingly, "Sometimes the best families are the ones we make....it doesn't always necessarily mean blood. Sorry...I was brought up by someone that...well, he was a friend of my parents...but he wasn't my real father...but he was a good man and he taught me many things and loved me as his own....so it was okay." She says a little more than she means to and goes back to gazing intently at the hooded cloaks.
Hitome Murakami |
Guess my post got eaten.
Stretching and moving a bit to get a feel for how her new clothing would fare in combat, Hitome smiles. "It feels good, not inhibiting in the least."
Jin Kobayashi |
Tilting her head to the side slightly she looks from Hitome to Asha, "If it's comfortable and you like it, you should get it. We might as well get whatever else we're gonna need while we're out and about today." Looking at the cloak she holds in her hand she nods, "Yeah...I think that will go okay with the pants and top. Thank you, and I'm happy for them and you." Not wanting to divulge too much about herself too soon she looks back at Hitome again, "Is there anything else that you can think of that we might need? I have some old boots in my bag....but I'm not sure how well they'll hold up against the weather here. It shouldn't be this cold here already....it's a bit strange." She says, rubbing the back of her neck in thought.
Hitome Murakami |
"I suppose a new set of boots might not be a bad idea." Hitome says considering. "And a cloak might be a good idea when I don't want to draw too much attention." she says with a chuckle.
Jin Kobayashi |
She shakes her head, "Yeah...the boots and cloak are probably a good idea, but I don't think you need to worry so much about drawing too much attention to yourself. There seems to be lots of different kinds of people here. It would look nice with the outfit though right? I just....I don't want you getting something if it's just because you're afraid of what other people think." Thinking about what she just said Jin gets a little quiet.
Hitome Murakami |
"Oh no I'm not worried about what people think. Just that at times it may be better no go unnoticed for one reason or another, which is something that I've never been that good at." Hitome says with a grin, her statuesque, bronzed and tattooed frame highlighting her words.
Rajni |
Finishing her muffin she swallows the last bit before drinking some more of her coffee and nods, "Yeah...but I was thinking about waiting for Juhi to wake up, unless you think she'll wake up while we're cooking it? I wanted to try and help you make it this morning, since my last attempt was so awful. I mean...I just have to get better at it right? I just have to." She kind of looks down into her coffee cup before finishing it and getting up to pour herself some more. Again she adds a couple of teaspoons of sweetner to it before also putting in a generous amount of cream. Tasting it she gives a satisfied nod before setting her cup back on the table and going to her mama, "So, what were you thinking about making this morning?"
Jin Kobayashi |
Looking at the outfit Hitome wears she looks through the rack before pulling out the black hooded lined cloak, "What about this one, or is it too dark?" She shakes her head as she sighs and puts it back on the rack, "See....I have no idea what I'm doing. I've worn the same thing for so long that I have no idea of what goes with what anymore. Ugh...I should probably change my shoes while we're here and see what condition my boots are in." Lowering herself to the floor she takes off her regular traveling shoes that went with her Kimono, and pulls on her regular boots. Other than a little scuffed up, they seem none the worse for wear, "I guess these will do alright for now." She says as she picks herself up off the floor and stuffs her other shoes back in the bag, "I feel so ridiculous now, I had an older outfit for cold weather....but I hadn't worn it in so long that I sort of forgot it was there. I guess it's okay to have something new, and this material is just so soft." She runs her fingers along the sleeves of her new top before looking back up at Hitome, "Don't you think so?"
Sorry, I kinda wanted to edit it.
GM Henry Fortuna |
"I was thinking of some Sali Par Edu," Asha says. "Simple and light. You can start by grating the potatoes."
Jin Kobayashi |
Seeing Hitome just standing there seemingly a little out of it she gently tugs on the sleeve of her shirt to get her attention, "Hitome? Are you okay? Is this all a little overwhelming for you too?" She asks, wondering if her mid wife was experiencing some of the same feelings she was having.
Hitome Murakami |
"Sorry, I suppose I was a little distracted. Yes it is very soft. The materials used are very comfortable." she says with a smile. Looking back at the cloaks she picks up the one Jin had suggested, running her hand along the inner lining. "I like this one."
Jin Kobayashi |
"Oh...I didn't realize just how many things you had Ms. Asha. I'm sorry I guess...I don't know. Maybe I'm still just a little....well, it's just a lot right now." She looks down at her own boots, "Well...these are a little worn, but it doesn't seem quite as cold as it did when we first got off the ship....so maybe I can wait on some for me for a little bit. You know...just in case we need something super important or....sorry....I don't mean to babble so much. Thank you for taking so much time to help us." Taking a moment to breath she looks up at Hitome for a moment, "Okay...so what do you think? You want to just get a pair now so you have them for when you need them? I didn't know there was a furrier here...but we can do whatever you want Hitome." She closes her mouth as well as her eyes, willing herself to just shut up lest she sound like a complete moron. I can do this....they're just people. They're not gonna eat me or make a coat out of me....I can do this. She tells herself silently while waiting to see what Hitome wanted to do.
Jin Kobayashi |
Oh...my...God...I feel like a total baboon. I don't know what's wrong with me today and I'm really trying to get it together but for some reason I guess I'm just really outta it. I can't seem to concentrate on anything for more than two seconds and didn't even realize how many times I repeated myself in a single sentence....It was just a really frustrating day today with Ms. Helen not being there. I am not looking forward to what things are gonna look like after she's gone and we're busy trying to get our room ready for the new class we're gonna get on the 14th while trying to train a new person at the same time....it will be all I can do to try and keep Sandy from driving me more insane than I already am. *sigh* It's okay...everything is okay...okay...I'm sorry I'm just gonna shut the hell up now.
Hitome Murakami |
"If you want to see the furrier's first we can always come back here later." Hotme suggests. "But I'd have no problem getting the boots here if you want."
Jin Kobayashi |
She seems to think it over for a minute or two before giving a slight shrug of her shoulders, "I suppose it wouldn't hurt to wait on the boots...it's not as an immediate need as the clothing and these really nice hooded...cloaks?" Looking down at her boots again she gives a slight nod of her head, "Okay, so we'll wait on the boots for now, and continue looking around town."
Looking back up at Ms. Asha she gives her a small smile, "So, we'll just take these things for now, and then if we decide we need something....or want something from here later we can always come back. So, how much for the things we've picked out so far?" She asks while reaching into her bag to pull out a pouch of coins.
Jin Kobayashi |
Okie dokie, and in the interest in saving time, we'll just say that Jin picked out a couple pairs of underthings for herself as well. 2 hooded cloaks, 2 outfits, and about 2-3 pairs of underthings apiece? I'm pretty sure that's it for now.
Jin Kobayashi |
Jin looks a little surprised before blushing slightly and looking down at her boots. Taking a moment to compose herself a little better she looks back up at Asha, "I...ummm...okay, thank you Ms. Asha." She says before handing her a platinum piece and five gold.
Putting the pouch away again she asks, "So could you please tell us which way to go from here to get to the furrier?"
Jin Kobayashi |
She nods as she repeats the directions to herself in her head as she gives them. Going to the door with Hitome she turns and gives Asha a bow before standing back up and looking at her, "It was a pleasure to meet you Ms. Asha, thank you for all of your time and help."
Rajni |
Having had to time to shred almost two of the potatoes she gives her mama a slight smirk, "Great as long as I can remember to keep my fingers away from the sharp part." Looking at how much the two potatoes made she kinda gets a thoughtful look for a moment, "What do you think mama? Will that be enough or should I go ahead and shred the third one? I wasn't sure how much you needed."
Rajni |
She nods before putting the other potato back and rinsing off the grater. She washes her hands before going back to the bowl with the grated potato in it, "Okay...so what's the next step?" She asks, eager to start really learning how to do better in the kitchen.
Rajni |
She nods and follows her mama's directions. While she's waiting for the water to boil she pours herself another cup of coffee. Adding her sweetner and cream to it she takes a sip before leaning against the counter, "So...your new customers, they must be new to town because I don't remember seeing either of them around till today." She says as she thinks back to just how much the town has grown since her arrival.
Rajni |
She kind of nods her head, "Ahhh...so more work for Toni. She's really had a lot shoved off on her lately. I hope she'll be alright. I think she's gonna want that camping trip soon if the weather will cooperate." She seems to think for a bit as she sips on her coffee, "Yeah....maybe an outing is just what she needs." Looking up at her mama she says a bit hesitantly, "It would give Juhi a chance at actually trying to aim at something other than cans as well. I know it's hard for you to see her with that crossbow thing, but she's been so good at following all of my directions and we're really careful. We could stick to smaller game for her and maybe she could get a rabbit or something? I don't know mama...I think she could handle it, but I won't do anything like that with her unless you're comfortable with it first okay? I would never do anything to put her in danger of any kind." She says before biting her lower lip a little as she waits to see what her mama thinks of taking Juhi camping with them.
