As they get close to the residence/shop she pauses for a moment. Stopping in the street she turns to look up at her midwife, "We just finished breakfast...do you think they'll be open already? I just...I know it's a shop, but it's also they're home....I don't want to impose on them too early." She says feeling torn between getting some clothes that won't make her stand out and actually keep her warm, and not wanting to disturb anyone too early....especially if they were family or friends of their Szef.
Hitome Murakami |
"Hmm...you do have a good point. Perhaps we should explore the town a bit first, and give things time to fall into their daily routine." Hitome replies looking around.
Jin Kobayashi |
Trying to hide her shivering she says, "Oh well...yeah, I mean...I guess I wasn't expecting it to be this cold here and I didn't really bring clothing that would keep me warm. Anyways....I remembered you saying you stay at the tailor shop...so I thought maybe they would have some warm clothing like the things I see the people here walking around in...but as we got here I realized it might still be a bit early and I didn't want to bother anyone too early, so we were gonna come back after a little while." She says a bit quickly, unsure if she really made any sense at all.
Hitome Murakami |
"Thank you very much." Hitome says, her eyes taking in all the details of the shop as she enters
Jin Kobayashi |
Taking a deep breath she returns the bow before replying, "Thank you for your kind greeting Ms. Asha. It is an honor to meet you as well. I...I was noticing that it was much cooler here than I had originally anticipated...and well, I don't really seem to have the right clothing for the current climate here. I've seen what some of the other people of your fine city are wearing and was wondering if it wasn't too much trouble if you would have some of those things that would fit me? I especially liked the hooded wrap around things...those looked quite comfy." She explains while shuffling her feet somewhat. She had heard a little of other cultures, enough to learn several different languages....but her training kept her pretty close to home....until now. She had never been off of Jin Zhao before and her head was still swimming a bit with everything they had been told and she was just trying to take it all in still. Everything would be okay, she just had to keep telling herself that and eventually she would get used to being somewhere other than home.
Jin Kobayashi |
Almost as an afterthought she stammers, "Of course I came prepared to purchase any supplies we might need...so....sooo I can pay for anything you have available. I just...I don't want you to think that I'm asking for anything for free....or....or something like that. I'm sorry...I'm just not really used to talking very much to other people. I mean no offense." She finishes before shutting her mouth, a slight feeling of anxiety creeping up on her already. Why was it so hard to just talk to people? She feels the calming presence of Gyoshin once more and tries to control her breathing and not panic. She looks to Hitome for reassurance as she couldn't really "speak" to Gyo while she was on her own plane.
Jin Kobayashi |
Giving her another bow she says, "Thank you again." Looking at Hitome she asks, "Did you wanna look with me....or are you okay here? I just...I know you said the cold doesn't really bother you...it's...it's fine...whatever you want to do." Cursing herself for her nervousness and clumsy manner with people she blushes a little even though she tries not to and looks away, embarrassed by her bodies response to the stressful situation. These people were so nice though, why couldn't she just relax? Putting her hand out to steady herself she feels the softness of the material and how thick it is and sighs softly. There were so many things in so many colors...even shopping was a bit overwhelming to her. Not really knowing what she was doing she sort of looks over at Hitome with a kind of pleading look while stammering a bit, "I...I'm sorry...these things are new to me and while they all look absolutely lovely and warm...I have no idea what I'm doing. Dressing back home was just....well....simple and I'm just not used to all this...finery. Though you have a beautiful shop Ms. Asha."
Jin Kobayashi |
Looking at the dark breeches and the brown top she nods, "Ummm...okay...so...how about this?" She asks as she puts the brown top away and pulls out a dark orange long sleeve top with a higher neck, "Or...or should I look at something lighter....there's just so many choices...I don't know."
Jin Kobayashi |
I wasn't thinking about her skin tone when I thought up that last color....it's probably not much better....she's...scholastic, not a shopoholich like my other characters. She's been in mourning the last year or so, so I imagine that her simple traveling Kimono has dark colors in it. I'm just having trouble thinking what she would wear. I guess we need to try a shift away from the darker colors since she's trying to get over the death of her one true love?
Jin Kobayashi |
She looks at it a moment before cocking her head to the side a bit, "Ooohhh....that's a pretty color." She says, her voice having a sound of awe to it as if she had never seen anything so pretty, or was used to wearing dull colors for a long time.
Jin Kobayashi |
She kind of looks at the breeches for a moment, tilting her head this way and that as she thinks for a moment. Finally nodding her head she says, "Okay...I'll try them on in the back. It might take me a little bit though since I have to undo all this other stuff. Is there anyway I can get an undershirt to go with that top? I have some armor that I wear....but I don't want it against my skin, or covering up that pretty top. I...I might need some new underneath things too...if....if you have anything like that?" She asks a bit shyly as she looks between Toni and Asha. She shuffles her feet slightly and looks down at the charcoal grey mofuku, or mourning Kimono that she had been wearing pretty much since her love had passed.
Jin Kobayashi |
Blushing just slightly she nods, "Thank you so much for your kindness Ms. Asha, I'll try not to take too long."
Going through the under clothing she finds the appropriate garment in a size that she think will fit her petite frame and goes to the back to change. After about five minutes or so she comes out of the dressing room, the pants just a little long and slightly loose on her while the smaller top seems to fit appropriately with the under shirt and chain mail shirt underneath it. With fewer layers of clothing, attention is drawn to her lithe petite form.
She approaches the others with a look of trepidation on her face, "Sooo....how does this look? I think the pants are just a little long...but I'll be wearing boots so I don't think they need to be taken up too much....but I might need a sash...or a belt or something. It's just a little loose...but not by much." She says as she uses her thumb to pull the waistband of the pants away from her little waist about an inch or two to try and see just how loose they were. She sort of shrugs, "What do you think?" She asks while biting down on her lower lip a little. Looking down at her frame she says almost to herself, "Layers really hid a lot of the scrawny."
Jin Kobayashi |
She kind of twists and turns to check the flexibility of the fabric while feeling the softness and thickness of it with her fingers. Looking over at Hitome she kind of shrugs, "I think these will keep me warmer, and it feels soft against me while having the flexibility I need for combat. Any thoughts Hitome? Does....does it look okay on me?" She hadn't thought this much about clothing for a long time, so she didn't trust herself to come to a decision on her own.
Hitome Murakami |
Ugh post got eaten.
Hitome quietly enters the shop, giving the proprietress a bow of respect, as she takes in the wide variety of clothing. When Toni comments about Jin's dark clothing choice And guides her toward something a little bit more colorful, she cannot help but be pleased. True the young summoner had been through unimaginable heartbreak, but she needed to give herself permission to heal. Dressing like a widow was anything but.
"It looks excellent Jin, I think it really suits you." she replies with a smile as she looks through the racks of clothing for something for herself.
Her own choice would be something notably different. With her somewhat otherworldly appearance, Hitome knew she would never exactly be inconspicuous, but she preferred it that way. Selecting clothing that not only allowed her freedom of movement, but highlighted both therr perfection of her sculpted warrior's form and the celestial tattoos adorning her body, drew attention, not out of vanity, but because every eye trained on her was one not focusing on her Summoner.
Jin Kobayashi |
Looking a little thoughtfull she nods, "Thanks Hitome. Sooo I guess we can either take in these breeches and stuff....or I guess I could find something a little smaller? What do you think Ms. Asha...Ms. Toni?" After asking them about the pants she looks over at Hitome and gives her an appreciative little smile. She just needed to keep moving forward.
Jin Kobayashi |
"Okay, I appreciate it very much Ms. Asha...I'll just go to the back to take them off so you can fix them." Turning she goes back to the dressing room and removes the breeches before going behind the curtain to wait for them to be taken in.
Jin Kobayashi |
Taking the pants she slips them back on, the fit amazing and showing what few little curves she had...while still being very comfortable and flexible. Coming out of the dressing room with everything on, she carries out the charcoal grey Kimono, the material a high quality grade Jinzhi silk. With the Kimono folded up in her arms, the material though light in nature seems a little heavy to her as she carries it to Asha. Holding it out to her she says, "I....I don't need this anymore and...and I know the color isn't the brightest or prettiest....but...but I was thinking that being such a talented tailor that maybe you could find a use for it? I hate wasting such fine material....and I just...I need to let it go now." She says before bowing her head at the older Vishkanya woman and offering the material to her.
Jin Kobayashi |
Giving her a small smile she says, "Good, I'm glad it will be put to some use. Just let me know how much we owe you whenever we're done. She took care of me almost the whole way over here on the boat...the motion of the boat didn't agree with me very well, so I guess...I guess I just wanted to show her that I was glad she was there to help me out. I don't know...." She sort of trails off as they head back to the main part of the shop. Going up to Hitome she asks, "Did you find what you wanted?"
Hitome Murakami |
"I'll try these on." Hitome says showing Jin a halter of black tooled leather that looked to have a collar up to the neck, and a pair of soft pants almost matching the burgundy of her hair, that would allow her legs the freedom to move.
Hitome Murakami |
With a smile,Hitome takes the clothing to the dressing room and tries it on, coming back out after a bit to get a second opinion.
Jin Kobayashi |
She cocks her head to the side slightly while looking at the outfit on Hitome. Looking a little thoughtful she says, "Yeah...those colors go nicely together at it looks like it fits you well. How does it feel? Is it comfortable enough?" Being a practical type person, Jin never really gave much thought to how things looked. To her it was the function of a thing that mattered, not how pretty something was. Maybe she could learn to loosen up a little in time.
Rajni |
While getting the coffee started, Rajni hears voices coming from the shop. She knew they had been getting a lot more business....but it was so early. She goes into the shop to see some people she didn't recognize. Standing there in her lavender sleep set she rubs her eyes, "Mama?" From the sleepy sound in her voice, it's easy to tell that she's only half awake.
