Btw DM I did a Sense Motive what did I take away? Specifically when he was mentioning the children. Did I get the feeling there was more to the story?
Eh, people don’t like to talk about their problems, most would rather sulk and try to hide from them, oh well.. Kristoff is unfazed by the mans words, while he wasn’t trying to offend, he does come across as a jerk sometimes.

The Immortal Conundrum: maps, etc.

Kristoff thinks that what he saw of the man is more or less what he gets: A somewhat frazzled, more than a bit xenophobic small-town tradesman who has better things to do than entertain the tight of fist and loose of jaw.

He never said anything about the children. None of them did. If you're referring to two posts above, that was Nira responding to Thornberry.

On that note, I'm going to say that Thornberry has been carrying Nira around like an inanimate doll. It would have been Nira's idea.

So, as we wander about we catch no evidence of the children other than briefly spotting them? Anyone have tracking skill? A group of children have to be noisy and leave evidence. My kinds never went anywhere without leaving signs of their presence.

As the others search for signs of the children that the swashbuckler never even glimpsed, he wanders around the area, eager to move on. The hostilities at least seem to have diminished, and it isn't long before Corwyn's curiosity get the better of him. Approaching the blacksmith involved in the altercation, he tries to 'talk shop' as best he can. "Greetings, I'm new in town and though my weapons were confiscated, I'm bet... err... thinking you might be pretty good at making something I'd like to buy. Ever hear of a chakram? Lovely weapon, it's disc-like, you see. Sharpened all around, except for where you grip it. I'd like one crafted of cold iron though, to match my other one. If I had it, I could give you a better idea of what I'm looking for..." He rambles on a bit like this, and if the fellow doesn't seem interested in weapons he'll switch to whatever topic the blacksmith might want to talk about. Horseshoes, nails, the melting point of iron, or even the craziest request for a job he's ever heard. Once he's got the fellow talking, the swashbuckler then broaches the topic of interest to him, the real reason that he wandered over. "So... what was that little spat with the carpenter all about? I'd have thought a couple of skilled craftsmen like yourselves would be talking over your respective businesses over a cold beer, not arguing in the street like you were."

See above.

The smith looks Corwyn over, then looks back at the wall of his shop, where happens to hang what indeed looks like a chakram of rough-beaten metal! "You mean like that? I was wondering if I'd ever get rid of that old thing. If you've got 2 gold coins, it's yours."

He's a little less succinct on the matter of the feud. The best you can deduce from his grumbling about local politics and somewhat esoteric shop-talk is that it's a sort of friendly rivalry that might haven gotten out of hand. There's only so much to get excited about around here.

"Ah! That is perfect! Thank you, kind sir. May your business here thrive." Tucking the chakram away into his pack after paying the 2 gold coins, the swashbuckler listens to the others ask the tradesman a few questions, and then follows up with one of his own. "Is it Robori that protects you from those great storms I've heard about that ravage these lands? That must be something to see!" He takes note of the blacksmith's interaction with the gnome and considers the look he gave the doll.

Unless it is obvious, Yanda will ask where the weaver's place is. Once out of earshot she will remind the group, "If you remember, Amenira mentioned something about infiltrating the weaver's home. I don't know what she may or may not have found there but if she found it necessary to get inside, I suppose we should too. She also mentioned an ointment, though how one would track down a mysterious ointment with absolutely no cooperation from the townsfolk, I don't know."

Cluelessly, Yanda makes an assumption and asks, "Hey, Corwin, you're a Kitsune! Kitsune's are masters of disguise, aren't they? Couldn't you pretend to be a villager and wheedle some info out of these annoying people?"

Corwyn seems momentarily startled when Yanda calls him out. "Uh... yeah... well... actually, this is my human form." He waves at his body awkwardly. "I can't really make myself like someone in particular. My natural form is very different. Yeah, basically a bipedal fox with silver hair and a tail!" The swashbuckler trails off with a faint smile on his face. "You know, it's been a long time since I've taken my natural form. I guess I've kind of gotten accustomed to this one. In any case though, I can't disguise myself as a villager, not unless they have a silver-haired kitsune among them." He adds with a grin.

Unless I'm misunderstanding the Kitsune class feature - Physical Description: A kitsune has two forms—a single human form and its true form, that of a humanoid fox. So it's not really like a Disguise Self spell or anything like that.

Thornberry frowns I am sorry we keep prying but...do you have a child? Amenira seemed like she was concerned with the well being of the children in this town and we just want to know what she was doing for them? Even if it was something simple? Can we see your child? Even if you don't can you point us to someone who does?

Give me a Diplomacy roll.

I'll allow someone other than Thornberry to make it if they can do better.

You now hear a girl's voice coming from somewhere in the house.

"Why can't you just let them in? Amenira was nice, they sound nice, too. Please, Daddy, I want to see SUNLIGHT again!"

You hear a harshly whispered conversation between what sounds like Kato's voice, and a woman's voice you hadn't heard up until now. There is nearly a full minute of that, and then a moment of stony, dreadful silence.

"Do us a favor," Kato calls out to you in a defeated, anxious voice. "Check our message box and bring in whatever's inside, if there is anything."

Like ointment? Hopefully, ointment. I'd like to get some of that stuff in my lab. Could it be behind the transformations?

Yanda races anyone to the mailbox to get what is inside.

Thornberry frowns Yes of course but....why doesn't your daughter see the sunlight...?

Yanda does indeed find a pot of skin ointment, as well as a short letter from the Sheriff. It's mostly routine, friendly townie stuff you can't make heads or tails of, but it does end with “be mindful of the curtains with visitors in town.”

You hear the door being unlocked, and you (at least some of you, not entirely sure about Talondreal's priorities) make your way in. It's certainly much darker inside than outside, but nothing your eyes can't acclimatize to. The front room is reasonably-furnished, dominated by a loom and other weaving tools. Next to the loom is a small toychest full of mostly-wooden toys, including a doll that looks just like Nira. You are also hit by an odor like semi-rotten vegetables, similar to what you smelled in the area Nira showed you earlier.

Standing a few paces behind the door are a man and woman, visibly middle-aged but fit and good-looking, like everyone else in this town seems to be. The man, slightly shorter than his wife (the latter of whom is wearing pieces of the heavy cashew-picking armor you saw earlier, like she just recently returned from the orchards), steps forward, and when he sees the jar of ointment in Yanda's hand, he rapidly swipes it.

"Praise you!" He gives you a weak smile as he begins uncorking the lid. "I suppose introductions are in order: I am Kato the weaver, this is my wife Efua, that is Erebi," He points directly upward, where you see a very large fruit bat roosting in the rafters. Then he walks to the other corner of the room, jar of ointment in hand. "And this is our daughter Roboria."

What at first appeared to be some kind of small cactus or fruit bush stands up, approaches the door, and then squints its barely-visible eyes, staggers back a few steps, and begins scratching itself furiously. "Hi," She says in a somewhat distracted tone.

It's a human girl, about 11 years of age...or might be, if not for the plantlike growths covering nearly every inch of her skin.

Kato helps her to a stool and begins covering her with the ointment."Yeah, okay...OW. I...I guess I can wait a little longer for sunlight, huh?" Says Roboria sardonically. "Not as...*hrzk*...nice as I remember it being."

"Give it a few years," Efua reassures her. "Then, it will be more beautiful than you've ever dreamed."

"As you can see," Kato once again addresses you while continuing to treat Roboria. "I've got my hands pretty full right now, so what is it you want with us? I've got about as much work as I can handle at the moment, so if you're here for clothes or something, I'll have to charge more than usual."
