EPISODE 1:
THE NEED FOR A HERO

:fade in:

EXT. CLEARING, PARTLY CLOUDY DAY

Zeus had arranged for a nice day to be outside for all of you. You have leave from Chiron, after learning as much as you can from the Centaur. Tomorrow is the day you all seek for your birthrights, and now you've come to Tiryns to celebrate. The core village had built a small gazebo on a hill, over looking the town and it was the perfect place to celebrate.

M Plumekith Aasimar (Scion of Humanity) Monk (Greco-Roman Athlete) 1 | HP10/10 | AC16 T16 F13 CMD18+ | F+4 R+5 W+5 | 30' | Init+3 | Perc+3

The lithe young man, barely covered by the old clothing draped over his form, strides into the gazebo with a sheep's stomach of wine in one hand and a large cured hunk of meat in the other. Picking out a likely looking spot, he plants himself in the gazebo and places his goods close at hand before leaning back and smiling at the sky. "Look at the sky before us. It is so pure, so open, so promising. How could we be anything but happy and relaxed on a day like this?" He pulls a piece of the cured meat and pops it in his mouth.

Myrrine quietly dabbed at the area around her mouth with a bit of cloth - the red ring was a testament to the way she often ate meals, usually hanging around the cooks right when they butchered the animal so that she could partake of its essence. She had this... well... thing about death. "Personally, I prefer having stone above me." Also, she was probably going to smack Lycaneus if he went on like one of the poets without getting some more training first.

The GM is an Atlanteologist, so having a little Hellenist training is part of the territory.

"What's the point? You're all going to end up with daddy anyway." Myrrine said, seeming rather disinterested in other people's joy at being alive. "I suppose I could understand if your goal was to get to the Elysium Fields and find something even better, but..." People who focused on their lives were just so strange. What kind of mentality was that, anyway?

At the edge of the party, clad in garments meant for a warm, dry day, Antikytheros keeps to himself, observing the party, occasionally fiddling with the apparatus strapped to his left hand.

Conveniently enough, Agraxas was already in Tiryns before the celebrations kicked off.

I wonder, who will offer challenge in this fine City I walk upon today? he thought to himself, as he explored the surrounding area for the most part of the first half of the day.

as the day went on and preparations for the celebration began to take place, Agraxas felt need to take tot he communal baths as he pondered on what to do with himself for his time spent in Tiryns.

If celebration is to be had, I think it best to prepare myself and what could be better than a bath? Perhaps I'll find my share of challenge as the day matures.

Taking advantage of the weather, the man soaked himself for many an hour under the open roof of the communal bath, basking beneath the scorching sun as increasing noise surrounded the man. It was apparent that excitement grew.

However, as you talk for the next thirty minutes, a girl comes running out of the woods. She's young, she's very beautiful, could be mistaken for a nymph. However, it's only Zoe, who could have been one of your boyhood crushes.

Hot on her heals was five gnolls.

(EL 5, technically, but I made it EL 1 -- have fun.)

Myrrine had never been a boy - but that was largely immaterial when compared to the matter at hand. Namely, the fact that someone they knew was in trouble and was possibly going to die. Whiiiiiiich wasn't exactly a bad thing from her perspective, considering they'd just get to rest for eternity, away from pain and torment. It was kind of a mercy, really. Still, other people tended to get very weird about this sort of thing... sighing slightly, she muttered a bit and flicked her finger towards the lead gnoll. Her heart wasn't really in this, but a minimal showing of effort would probably keep the others off her back.

Zoe is not one of his crushes, but Myrrine has been for a little while, he's only known the party here for about six months. So he does know everyone here or most of the party, but not well

Antikytheros looks up from his contemplation.

"Goodness, I do believe those are gnolls! What are they doing here? They normally keep to the rocky barrens, and not travel into town. And why are they chasing... Zoe?!"

The Pythagorean gets up and rushes down to her. "What's happening here?"

"Well, that's not right!" The young man gets up off his bum and moves to interpose between Zoe and the gnolls. As he passes her, he also asks the obvious "Where did these come from, Zoe?"

While he listens, he stands ready to attack any of the gnolls that actually keeps coming.

"I was bathing in the lake, and these women started coming after me!", a cursory glance (Perception roll) will reveal that these gnolls are female.

"Maybe they were having a bad day?" Myrrine suggested. That aside, though, these rampaging... things... were kind of annoying her. She glanced their way a moment later, a foul look on her face. "I don't really care what happened between you. Stop ruining my day and get out of here before I hurt you." she told the one in front. She'd at least give them a chance - she wasn't so motivated that she was going to keep attacking them without giving them a chance to surrender, but she didn't really like putting up with nonsense, either. They had a fair chance to leave in peace, and that was probably all they were going to get from her.

The Gnolls, well, laugh (pick the cartoon laugh). One of them starts speaking in common. "We found her in our lands and now she belongs to Queen Nado."

One of the other Gnolls sniggers in common. "Yeah, Queen Nado. Right, Semele?" One of the other gnolls starts laughing uncontrollably, as if she was psychotic or sociopathic.

What Semele looks like. Yes, it appears in Wayfinder magazine.

"That's true enough. I'm not very concerned with mortal rulers." Myrrine said, smiling at the group as she stepped back into view. "However... come on, face it, you're not in your lands anymore. Why not just head on back to your own territory instead of provoking an incident? Your queen might not be too happy with you if a bunch of angry humans start coming for revenge. Just tell her that a bunch of armed humans were passing by, and you didn't have the numbers to take them on. Then you won't look incompetent and can just go back to... whatever it is you normally do. "Well, that's that." Myrrine said, not impressed by the evident lack of willpower the creatures had. Of course, such mundane beings weren't much against the powers of the gods, but still. She quietly began heading back to the place where the food was - she'd already fed, but maybe some sweeter fruit would help wash away the foul taste of dealing with monsters of that type. Now that the matter was resolved, it seemed like she was rapidly losing interest in it.

Better catch up a bit here!

As the day went on, Agraxas thought more and more of what challenges awaited him.

He yearned to visit mount Olympus and hoped that he would never have to visit the Depths of Tartarus or suffer the pain of the River Styx, but he knew adventure was in his blood, and he hoped to engage in combat with all kinds of creatures so that he could push his own abilities to advance his combat expertise, eventually rivaling that of a Demi-God, or even a God itself.

Thoughts aside, realising the celebrations had kicked off, the man climbed out of the large open pool, dried himself off and prepared himself for adventure.

Sheathing his sword and securing his shield to his back, Agraxas walked through the market stalls, searching for wine and women, while keeping his wits about him as he scouted the area for anyone willing to challenge his fighting prowess.

It wasn't until a couple hours passed by that he noticed a young an attractive, angelic looking woman.

To find such beauty, the gods must truly bless me on this day. he thought to himself as he saw Myrrine in the distance.

May I suggest using these OOC tags when speaking about mechanics? Helps keep things in order so we know what's in-game and what isn't.

Women weren't allowed to vote - besides, they weren't even in Athens right now. Otherwise, Myrrine probably would have raised her hand in favor of that particular suggestion. After all, she had been the one to tell them to leave, so in a way, it was her honor that was being insulted by the violation of attacking a fleeing party. She popped a grape into her mouth and bit into it, letting the juices flow over her tongue while she thought. Honestly, she didn't care that much, but putting some pressure on Draco might be an amusing diversion and give her a better foothold for later. It wouldn't do for a mere human to think they could get away with insulting the honor of the children of the Olympians... in fact, she'd probably be saving him from some suitably appropriate punishment later on if she reprimanded him now.

...

Which she wasn't actually motivated to do. He could take responsibility for his own actions; she wasn't going to actively hurt him unless he bothered her, but she wasn't going to go too far out of her way to help him, either. Instead, she simply popped another grape into her mouth.

"...Nope. Nothing to say, really. Go on, keep attacking the people who agreed to leave in peace and not bother you anymore. I'm sure it'll work out wonderfully." Myrrine said, a small smile on her face. She was happy to watch others get in trouble and be punished for their crimes, and her extended family could get VERY creative with their punishments. Who was she to hold people back if getting that punishment was what they really wanted to do?
