Two groups are going through this.
For some reason I set up a second game thread for Group 2, but not for Group 1.

Darion rushes over to the wards, bowing once again, certain that Pelor's might won't fail him again.

Sensing Darion's desperation, Pelor comes through with the goods and another ward falls. Only one seems to remain.

Still clutching Lyan and with Levana out of reach, the Vestige teleports closer and attacks Darion and Darwyn. Before either of them can do anything sensible unless you have an handy immedidate interrupt, the Vestige sucks both of them into itself.

It should still be marked by me from Monday. The -2 doesn't look to make much difference, but I can still give it 16 force and psychic as a reaction to its first hit vs. Darion

I'm going to blow this, cause I don't like how low that puts me.

Immediate Interrupt - Personal
Target: The triggering enemy
Trigger: An undead enemy hits you
Effect: You take no damage from the target's attack. Your next attack against the target deals extra radiant damage equal to one-half the damage you would have taken from the attack.


Lyan - edited all the numbers and the init order. The -2 didn't help, but I should have included it.

Lyan's vengeance hits the Vestige as it sweeps Darion and Darwyn into its hideous being. Radiant light flows outward from the paladin and threatens retribution as Pelor guards his servant from harm.

How does one escape the engulfing?

As a grab, I think -- Athletics vs Fort or Acrobatics vs Ref as a Move action.
Also, Rev mentioned Aid Another. It is not automatic on skill checks, but not exceedingly difficult either for a trained assistant. Interestingly, it does not appear to require LOE, which I would have thought.

AID AN ALLY’S SKILL OR ABILITY CHECK
Action: Standard action. When a creature takes this action, it chooses a target adjacent to it.
DC: The creature makes a skill check or an ability check with a DC equal to 10 + one-half the creature’s level.
Success: The target gains a +2 bonus to the next check using the same skill or ability before the end of the assisting creature’s next turn.
Failure: The target takes a -1 penalty to the next check using the same skill or ability before the end of the assisting creature’s next turn. This penalty represents the distraction or interference caused by the failed assistance.

Also, I missed the vulnerability on my Mindspike damage to it, so another 5, please.

Don't know. Engulfed move with the Vestige and teleportation is a movement. That is the scenario and exact wording?

I don't see anything about teleportation being a movement in this context.

Drat. Darion, Darwyn, does either of you have a way to get yourself out? If so, that one and I can try to aid the third, if I can force my way out. The hard way is that I can teleport myself 4 squares as long as somebody's adjacent to the destination. Meanwhile, I'll try again to immobilize the thingy.

Returning to the horror that is Moil, Levana tries, and narrowly fails, to slow the Vestige's advance. Frustrated and frightened, she calls on the spirits that constantly surround her. They form into a biting cloud of insects, rendering even the mighty Vestige slightly less powerful as they swarm around it.

Norrin takes good note of the Vestige and hurls his improvised weapons hard. A minor blip in the surface tells him he did some damage with the first attack, but the second flutters into nothingness.

Hey all, very sorry about the sudden dissapearance! Job gets extremely busy this time of year. I'm on mandatory 12 hour shifts and still have PT with the LT on some mornings at 6am so with all that it just sort of slipped my mind. Again, really sorry for holding you all up and thanks for running Darion, Rev. Please feel free to do so again if I go missing again. I should be back to a normal schedule in about a week.

Samson exerts all his strength and does the impossible, hauling the Vestige over the portal. Lyan, Darion and Darwyn disappear, but the Vestige itself remains.

Spoiler:
You strike the floor hard, landing within a domed chamber. A circle of runes in the ceiling marks the portal through which you've just passed. Your eye is drawn to a great green face carved into the stone of the floor beside you. The graven image of a horned devil stares up blindly - eyes blank, mouth opened to reveal a space of dead black within it. A single word has been scrawled into stone beneath the face; "Devourer".

Glowing Stone archways are set around the chamber, each with white mist swirling inside. Between the arches, some twenty well-rotted humanoid corpses hang from the ceiling, entwined with chains that drip black ichor to the floor.

Apologies for the less-than-awe inspiring evocation of the Devourer. I'm not that great with Fractal Mapper.

Vestige has a aura 5. Creatures within the aura take a -2 penalty to attack rolls, skill checks and ability rolls.

An engulfed target is pulled into Vestige's space and is restrained. When Vestige moves, target moves with it. Engulfed creatures only have line of effect to the Vestige and only the Vestige has line of effect to the engulfed creature. When an engulfed creature escapes, it appears in a square of its choice adjacent to the Vestige.

Terrain notes: the usual 50 foot drop into necro-sludge around the edges. Fallen pillars provide cover and are difficult terrain. You are approaching from the west.
