DM Locke

Just wondering how you feel about the interaction between the Syntesist:s "Makers Jump" and the Diminsional Agility chain ?

There is a pretty long discussion in the rule section - Linky

:)

Maker's Jump:

Maker’s Jump (Sp)

At 6th level, whenever the synthesist is fused with his eidolon, the synthesist can cast dimension door as a spell-like ability using his caster level. This ability only affects the fused synthesist and eidolon. The synthesist can use this ability once per day at 6th level, plus one additional time per day for every six levels beyond 6th.

This ability replaces maker’s call and transposition.

Dimensional Agility:

Dimensional Agility

Teleportation does not faze you.

Prerequisites: Ability to use the abundant step class feature or cast dimension door.

Benefit: After using abundant step or casting dimension door, you can take any actions you still have remaining on your turn. You also gain a +4 bonus on Concentration checks when casting teleportation spells.

@ Mrdarknlight: Thanks for the update! As I said before, it's your choice how you want to build your character. The only thing I must note is, as a paladin, even one of a LN God, you'll need to remember that you've got to play him LG. If you're thinking that you might tend more towards LN, then maybe an inquisitor, or a cleric with the crusader archetype or holy warrior variant might be more what you're looking for.

No cleric and inquisitor is not what I am looking for. Since clerics lost out on heavy armor prof. would have to spent a feat to go with that and inquisitors are know to be able to go against their god's belief to get things done which I do not think Helm would like much. I plan on playing him LG. I will explain what I was thinking. Which changed somewhat after finding this site Helm which had the line you stated earlier in the thread. I plan on having the character be very honor bound, protect others and help children. As for villain he would try to lock them up if possible but knows full well sometimes you just have to stop them.

@ Mrdarknlight - Well, as I've said, whatever character makes you happy is the way to go. Remember, in this game, clerics automatically get their heavy armor proficiency back (I mentioned that back on the 1st page). That website you linked to reprints the God entries from the old 2nd ed product "Faiths and Avatars" which I happen to think is still the best source for info on the Forgotten Realms dieties.

@ Saerdna - I'd rule that having a SLA that allows use of a dimension door type ability (such as maker's jump) would make you eligible for the dimensional agility feat chain.

Sweet : )

Greetings all!

I'm thinking that this campaign has pretty much attracted all the applicants it's going to, so I'm actually going to wrap up the accepting of prospects as of tomorrow, monday october 17th at 5pm eastern time (GMT -5) and post which characters will be part of the group as of 5pm eastern time on wednesday, october 19th. I still want to begin play on october 31st, which is a monday, which will give us a fair bit of lead time.

After the successful applicants have been announced I'll create an OOC thread where we can get to know each other a bit better and move any discussions about fine-tuning characters, rules or whatever there.

Thanks to all for their submissions, and to anyone new, 24 hours remain to get your character in.

DM Locke: Is there anything else I can add to Evenor? Is the background I posted alright? Any suggestions to make him fit the campaign better?

I just wanted to weigh in on the achievements idea. Sounds interesting, I'd like to try it for sure.

Brief history added :-)

@DM_Locke: I changed the knight from the Knights Vigilant to the Barakmordana (from Helm to Torm and the Triad). I think it suits the story better and provides ample hooks for the future.

Didn't know if you would use traits or not, so I didn't add them in the first build (will do if allowed). I will develop the sheet a bit further, and if chosen for the campaign will fully detail it (down to the last copper piece). I haven't already done so because I do not have the HeroLab software most folks have, and all my calculations are done by hand.

I really don't know what else to write myself. Wait and see :)
Any chance the fact i'm from the same country as R.A.Salvatore gives me more credit?
Ignore the last sentence, i couldn't resist.

Expanded my background to match my sister :)

Good morning all! I hope everyone had a good weekend.

So, to my responses:

@ Keddah: Evenor looks fine to me, the only thing I might note is that his affinity for Hoar could just as easily go to the elven God Shevarash, though Shevarash is generally considered more a foe of the Drow. Also, had you picked a favored foe for Evenor?

@ scranford: Inwe looks good! I like the background story, and I think the interplay between two estranged sisters could make for a very interesting dynamic.

@ Rune: We won't actually be using traits in this campaign, so not to worry. Your sheet is fine as is, I don't use hero labs either, as I noted earlier your point buy adds up to 24 instead of 25, but it doesn't affect your bonuses at all so we can always go over it later. As for your characters background story, looks good to go!

@ Gandal: Alendrethala looks ready to play - with regards to her background, we can always work together with scranfod later, as it seems with his background that Inwe is being sent to Tethyr with the knowledge that she'll be working with her sister, whereas your character is on the search for her long lost sibling. It would be funny if both had been sent to find the same thing - rival groups or interests, perhaps? Maybe Inwe wasn't sent to work with Alendrathala, but was sent to get to her objective before her sister did? Just a thought.

Anyways, looking good all, any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to ask.

@DM Locke: As I remember Shevarash was a god really obsessed about revenge against the drow, and since Evenor has never seen one he can hardly feel that hate, although he KNOWS drow are evil. Hoar being a lawful god seemed like a counterpoint to Evenor more chaotic tendencies, he isn't a lawful character but thinks that evil must be punished, and that punishment must be just or else the punisher takes the risk of becoming evil himself.

I had thought of taken Humanoid (Human) as favoured enemy since humans form the bandits and rogue soldiers groups he has fought against in the past.

Any additional insight or comments about Ruhk would be helpful.
As for the achievement idea, I like it.

We all play our characters with an idea how they are and behave in our own mind, but we can only see them through OUR lenses, achievements will allow us to get a glimpse into how our characters are seen through the lens of the DM.

Ruhk follows Tempus, mostly out of force of habit, if he is ever exposed to the teachings of Nobanion, especially the Wemic version of it, it is likely he would take to it quite passionately.

And that's it! Thanks to all for your submissions, applications are now closed and decisions are being made as to which characters will be successful in the upcoming campaign. Final decisions will be made by 5pm (gmt -5) on wednesday, 19th october and posted here.

Yes, not bad weekend thanks.

For Alendrethala's backstory...i simply didn't saw a way to justify the fact she already knew where to find Inwe.I thought maybe you could just let us strt togheter, saying we already met in a flashback just before the beginning of the game, or whatever suits you.I simply think Alendrethala discovered the general whereabouts of Inwe (Tethyr) and found her by asking around.

Shadow Lodge

Oh man, Wednesday seems so far away now! :D

@ Balodek - do you think you'd still be willing to play Lockjaw if we toned down some of his more antisocial tendencies? I love the idea of him being a maverick, a few screws short, but I'd also like to make sure he fits in with a group that (I'm hoping) will become heroes to the people of Tethyr. I don't want to put you in a position where you feel your character is compromised, or less fun, I just don't want him to be a disruptive element, should he be chosen.

About equip,Alendrethala is quite weak, she is well over light encumb. and i still have plenty of money left.Is it possible to begin the game with a packmule already bought? Does that mean the PC must put skill ranks in Handle Animals?

Shadow Lodge

I thought about that, and I'm picturing him as a deathseeker/atoner, with his antisocial tendencies actually being directed more at other dwarves due to his shame at being kicked out of their society. I tend to play the anti-social aspects more for humor instead of "I hate everybody that isn't me unless they make an effort to understand me". Initially abrasive he would tone down his act once it became apparent he was "stuck" with these people, eventually giving way to a grudging respect.

I personally think a little party conflict is ok, but I've run too many games with players who enjoy the anti-social loner type to want to play one myself. Lockjaw is very much a hero in search of a cause to die for, and if some "pointy eared water swilling elves" are his only way of getting there he'll take it. One thing I refuse to do is play a character that makes the game less fun for others, so rest assured that if chosen I have no intention of being disruptive.

@ Gandal - sure, if you've got the money, buy a pack beast - and don't worry about having to buy ranks of handle animal, you can just lead the critter around without having to invest in a new skill. If you wanted to teach it to dance or something, then handle animal would be a good choice :-)

@ Balodek - sounds good to me. Welcome to the game! You're my first player chosen. I think we'll have a great time playing in the Realms.

I've opened an OOC discussion thread here. We can further discuss your character and any other issues there.

Just a reminder, gameplay is scheduled to begin october 31st, though we might do some prologue type scenarios prior to that.

Again, welcome, Balodek!

@ Gandal - by the way, welcome to the game - if you're still willing, I'm pleased to choose you as one of my players. I've opened up an OOC discussion thread here where we can further discuss character and game issues.

I really like your enthusiasm for the Realms, and I like the character you've created.

So, welcome to the game, Gandal!

@ scranford - If you're still available, I'm pleased to offer you a place in the game. There's no way I can pass up the potential Lossehelini sister possibilities for role-playing!

I've opened up an OOC thread here where we can move any discussions about character, plot, etc.

Welcome to the game, scranford! Just a reminder, play starts officially on the 31st of october, though there may be some prologue or other type of in character play opportunity prior to that.

Cool to Balodek,Gandal, and Scranford on getting in.

@ Mrdarknlight - Welcome to the game! As a paladin of Helm, I hope that your character will play a pivotal role in the adventures to come.

I've opened up an OOC thread here where any further tweaking of your character, etc, can take place. The game officially starts october 31st, though there may be some prologue type sessions prior to that.

Again, welcome to the game, and I look forward to DM'ing your adventures.

Two or perhaps three spots yet remain empty; all successful candidates will be notified by wednesday at 5pm my time. Thanks to all for your patience!

Hot Dog! Back to the Realms...Thanks

Are those empty slots going to be filled by those who have already posted in this thread, or are you accepting new characters before Wednesday, as well? I was late to discover this game.

I fear I've been outclassed by the halfling, but I won't withdraw, doing so would be against Mathias' character, he likes to push his luck, much like his dad.

Kathai nods in thanks at the compliment and gives the human a thumbs up. When she thinks he's not looking she makes a wager with another submittee and places 50 gold on the human to win. Success guaranteed regardless of the outcome, she lights her pipe and leans back, stretches her toes, and commences to watching the fun...

Alendrethala nods toward her cat, Nekat. The little feline jumps in her arms and plays with a lock of her hair.
The elf smiles while making it in a haste on her way to the Realms.

Thanks Locke and everyone that posted here.

@ Spruce - sorry, submissions closed yesterday at 5 pm my time.

Wow, two slots left for seven submissions. Congrats to those who are in and those who will get in!

As they say, patience is a virtue, the realms that I know will still be around even if I have to wait a bit to know if I'm in it or not.

Well said

Well you know, patience for those who has it, battleaxes for the rest.

Hah : P

Celith prays to Ilmater.

Evenor looks at those around him, a perplexed look in his face... So many people willing to defend the weak, and I was so bold as to think myself unique he stares at the horizon as his mind wanders back home...

Mikko is throwing a going away party at the Low Key tavern. All halflings are invited! Whether he is closing up shop to adventure or to move his business to another region is yet unknown.

Kathai happily takes Mikko up on the offer and spends most of the party time doing what she refers to as "neht-wurk-ing".

Glad you could make it, Kathai. Your third round of desserts are on the house!

Once more Evenor's befuddlement crosses his face They are celebrating? But why? Don't they realize they are most certainly facing their deaths? He approaches the halflings and asks them Is this some kind of cultural tradition or are you just daft?

By the way, congratulations to those already in and good luck to those still waiting. I must say that Mrdarknlight is a a great choice and a very enjoyable player, I really like his character Cyean in my Unexpected Rulers game

Kathai raises an eyebrow. Her own befuddlement at Evenor's behavior mirrors his own about her.

"For those about to die, there is no better way to go than fat and happy. My father said that. Or at least I think he did. It was hard to tell. It's not easy to talk with a noose around your neck while chewing on a cheese pastry. Best 16th birthday peformance EVER!

"If only it had worked...."

Jan Jansen? What are you doing here? I mean, right world, wrong part of it...and wrong race too.

Alaric walks along the dusty road towards Tethyr... Suddenly he gets a sudden attack of homesickness. He pauses for a moment, then sighs and looks around. "Dammit, not a cheerful sight as far as the eye can see. Very well, back to the road"

"Oh, that reminds me, of that time - waaaaaaaaaay back ..."

@ Boggbear - Thanks for your patience .... and welcome to the game. If you're still willing, I'm pleased to offer you a spot in the upcoming Realms game. Please head on over to the discussion thread and say hi when you have a moment.
