Gwernach creeps silently forward, toward the end of the fifteen foot long passageway, hugging close to the wall, he keeps his eyes looking across the opening, and in the faint red light he sees two statues on the raised “stage at one end of the room. Toward the back of the stage is an area shrouded in unnatural darkness the red light cannot penetrate. When he reaches the end of the passageway, he peers around the corner

Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (16) + 14 = 30

Gwernach:
At the opposite end of the chamber, across from the stage where the statues were seen, is an alcove shrouded in darkness, and suddenly a creature comes out of the darkness. It is the same winged, hunched, gargoyle-like creature. It looks toward you, with yellow eyes that reflect in the red light of the room. It does not look away from your position, but does not move either.

Gwernach's eyes go wide. Doing some quick sums about what he knows of this thing, Is tha tha same one eat'n a wee while ago?, he figures the creature is not likely to kill him, at least not yet. The thing's just eaten, right? Or had it? Should he say something? It would have to be something wise. A formal greeting of some sort...Nothing. Whispering a soft curse to himself the dwarf keeps watch on the critter as he quickly waves the others over, Oi! We've gotta thing 'ere. With his free hand he makes a quick mime of wings and fangs then holds his attention on the beast, hoping it isn't still hungry.

None of the heroes have any knowledge of this creature, specifically - anything you might determine by just looking at it, is going to be conjecture

Seeing the corpse eating creature dash to the other side of the room, toward what appears to be another dark portal, the party quickly moves after it in the hope of following wherever it might lead.

Once the group is halfway across the large chamber, a quick look to the left reveals a stage, or some sort of raised platform and two large, black, stone statues.

Which Way?: 1d6 ⇒ 6

As the light from Yildiri’s spell illuminates the passageway ahead of them, the party now sees that this exit is not a dark portal, but just another hallway which leads to a tee intersection, which seems to mirror the one in which they entered this chamber in the first place.

Hot on the heels of the monster they see it turns right around the corner at the tee.

Hurrying, without pressing to catch the fleeing monster, the party turns the corner and sees the creature, ahead of them about thirty feet.

On the right, just ahead of the fleeing creature there appears to be a side passage, but straight ahead the current passage heads into another deep area of darkness.

The monster does not turn to see if it is being followed and charges straight into the deep darkness ahead.

You follow to within thirty feet of the deep darkness, the side passage is immediately to you right, when you hear a howl, and several barking sounds, and then the creature comes stumbling out of the deeper darkness. The way must be blocked.

Now there is no escape for the creature, as your party stands at the intersection.

With a snarl and shake of its head the monster raises its claws and charges toward your group. It is obvious it intends to attack the first person it can get to, perhaps in an effort to knock down one of you, and then make an escape through your ranks.

Yildiri suggests heading into the deeper darkness from where the monster seemed to be fleeing.

Gwernach and Sasithorn, accustomed to various kinds of darkness, can tell that the passageway is like the others that have been encountered before. It either is a complete dead end allowing no passage or is a kind of portal that may result in the group becoming even more lost than they already are.

For a moment he is unsure if he can even tell what direction he needs to go to get back out, but keeping his hand on the wall next to him the familiar feel of the stonework gives him a little comfort. He spins in place, switching hands on the wall, and marches back the way he came until his sight returns and he is confronted by the faces of his travelling companions.

as far as Gwernach can tell, the monster must have run into this passageway, been confronted with an impassible barrier, become panicked, and when able to get back out, sought to flee from this area as fast as possible.

Hefting his axe Gwernach Nickelbeard, only son of Gilbar & Helil Nickelbeard, nods solemnly and makes his way down the dark passage in the direction of a creature none of them had seen before. The dwarf knows not what awaits him or his companions at the end of this hallway. He does not know if they will ever see another living soul or that strange temple in the middle of the desert again.
As the ranger's form fades into the shadow of the hall, his boot treads unnoticingly upon a small pool of slime.

Male, old, old, Male

The party walks slowly, silently forward into the darkness. Ahead of them is another area of deeper darkness, another dead end or perhaps another portal to yet another bleak and unidentifiable passageway in this mysterious temple. There is nothing to do but press forward,.

As the darkness presses in around them they feel the slip of dimensions and suddenly they emerge out of the darkness into a sunlight area.

They are standing in a small shrine or temple of some kind. The walls to the left and right are open while across the floor opposite them is another dark area of shadows.

Outside of this small building stone building is a countryside, warm air can be felt, the sun is bright overhead in the blue sky, fields of tall green grass spread out to either side, to the left are mountains in the distance to the right rolling hills and a horizon that seems to call from many miles away.
