Turns out it's just 4 days.

She's been to Eysterlun, has she? Has she seen the Unseen Kingdom?

Got volunteered to drive two of my sons to an In Flames concert tomorrow, so I will be off line for the next two days (I’ll have my touch pad and can make posts if I need to, just won’t have access to my mapping software and other resources)
I'll be working on an overland march post, and try to get us into the next village, where a definite plan to hunt the Strangler should come together.
Ribat?

Argg, been very bad about updating this game. It is now really bugging me.
Also, if you are at all interested, I've been getting better at making overland maps (See both of the Palace of the vampire queen games) and now I think I'm ready to try this one. This game is set on a map I drew as a teen, so I want to try and keep that basic map in tact and draw over it with this map making software.

I’ll be going out of town tomorrow through Thursday for a three day two night hiking get a way. I’ll be sating in a nice lodge that has internet access and I’ll have my touch pad, so if something comes up that needs my attention I’ll try to respond, otherwise enjoy the break
And thank you to everyone for being patient.

I hope that those who celebrate the holiday have a wonderful Easter or Passover, me not so much of a Christian or Jew (more like a non robe wearing Buddhist), but today I get to assemble a new swing set for my Grand Daughter. I think I need some kind of wrench or something I tried rolling to make it happen, but eh?

I just want each and every one of you, Diarmal, Xor, Sasithorn, Ribat, and Marvin, to know that YOU created this story. I had a broad idea, about planes, monsters, a wrecked space ship, and that was all, nothing else, and each one of you just by playing your character shaped the direction this story is taking
Thank you

Okay; what time is it now?

Xor has 4 small grenades of superior holy water. Each pot will shatter on impact with the ground or a wall and will doe 3d8 damage (holy) against undead or negative material plannar creatures who are caught in the splash radius (10'). A reflex save, DC 16, can be attempted for half damage. In order to break the pot directly on a fleshy creature requires a Ranged Touch Attack with at least a +2 strength modifier, and the you must beat the Touch AC of the creature by 5+, otherwise the pot does not break. breaking against a hard surface requires a Ranged Touch attack against AC 5
The Lamp of the Temple of Sewardhome is a minor artifact, when held by an individual channeling positive energy the lamp glows with the light of day (and will remain this way for 1 hour per cleric level of the individual doing the channeling). Channeled positive energy to harm undead is increased by 1d6 damage, the DC to resist the channeled energy is increased by +2. Channeled positive energy used to heal creatures is also increased by +1d6. The lamp will manifest these effects three times between the setting and rising of the sun each day.

You know the thing about Darkvision, I get it, a lot of people don't want to be bothered by technicalities (like being able to see the monsters before they surprise you) and I think Darkvision is one of the most over rated things in Pathfinder. I like how they handle it in 5e, sure you have Darkvision and you can see, sort of, in the dark, but guess what, all your perception checks with Darkvision, in total darkness, are made with disadvantage...

I like to try and include reasons for Darkvision characters to want a light, even if it's not directly benefiting them. Sort of like what the Lamp of Sewardhome is doing here: providing an incentive for staying with the light. I think it was Gears of War that had those horrible death-bats on the surface that swarmed over everything not in the light? Not exactly something I'd adapt to Pathfinder (my players would try to kill them all), but it's in the same vein. Just because you can see in the dark doesn't make the dark safe.
Edit: wrong alias.

Hey I will roll with however you want to run DV. I wasn't thinking I could see the monster before it sees me(especially this thing). I just wanted to get dwarfy 8>)

Marvin - the lamp will burn oil, like a normal lamp, but for the time being, Diarmal has cast a simple light spell upon it. To activate the lamps blessing requires a special phrase (Diarmal's Player can create this if he wants to, it should be short, and mention the blessings of the Goddess Hamth or something like that, or he can just signify that he is activating its special power whenever he wants to - by channeling positive energy while holding the lamp, when this happens the light given off by the lamp from any means (spell or oil) is enhanced to be the same as the effect of a Daylight Spell with a duration modified by the details posted above).
I will try to get a map up tonight or tomorrow and an initial combat post introduction
I think this might be a difficult battle for your group.
Sasithorn Loom |
I kind of hesitate to mention this, M.A.R.V.I.N., but rolling a natural '2' on your musket shot means it misfired.
Generic Dungeon Master |
Okay two things about thrown splash weapons - first I was supposed to identify the direct hit damage and splash damage range for the vials of special holy water, and I did not do that, so I will say that a direct hit does 3d8 damage, and a splash does 3d4
second, if you miss a to hit with a thrown splash weapon you have to roll to determine where the attack lands, and calculate splash from there - so in the next attack, will Xor please roll the to hit, and identify what square of the monster he is aiming at (or just say, front left, back right, or something like that) and then also throw in a d8 roll and I will take it from there.

"LET HER GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" yells Ribat as he plunges his kukri into the creature, trying to slash Fonidea free.
[dice=kukri attack]d20+3 [dice=kukri damage]d3+1
I'm not the DM, of course, but this just screams "morale bonus to attack and damage" to me.

Each character receives enough experience to take them to exactly level 3.
You can collect bones (all that will be left of the creature as the shadow/negative material plane elements of its form dissolve away.
You can return to Connie’s bright, visiting any or none of the villages you have already visited.
The campaign can end here, or the characters can pursue the monster’s creator.
Sasithorn Loom |
Wasn't something weird going on with the fabric of the planes, and something going on with interstellar intrigue, and the mere phenomenon of working gunpowder being evidence of paradigm-shifting weirdness, et cetera?
I say our adventure's just begun!
M.A.R.V.I.N. |
Hurrah! =]
If you're fine with continuing, DM, then I am! There's still a bunch of plot hooks and adventure to explore!
Marvin would recommend going back to Sewardhome for Volkgrahme, maybe return the magic items if he is in need of it, but mostly to show proof that they need not worry of the Strangler anymore. Same with Grandma Marali and her village before heading to Connie's Bright.
Marvin might also be hearing soon from Paulina.
And thank you for bringing us all the way to this point. :D

In other news, level 3 has brought me the Umbral Vision class feature, which grants Darkvision 30 feet (expanding with future levels) to those without natural Darkvision, and expanding the Darkvision of those who already have it. The question is, how would you rule this ability's effect on Eysterlun vision, which is a grey area between having Darkvision and not having it?
